This places comes highly recommended, and I can see why! From the moment you enter the door, it has a calm, clean, welcoming atmosphere and staff. This is an update to my previous review. I stopped in to try the weekend breakfast brunch. Big mistake. The place was not super busy but had a few customers sitting at the tables and at the bar. Myserver was Willow. Willow was very sweet and friendly, but her service was greatly lacking. First off, I ordered a cocktail which once the bartender finally made it, sat at the bar with the ice melting while Willow never bothered to check on my drink. I had to ask another worker, looked to possibly be a manager, if they could check on my drink since Willow was not going to do it. The manager soon brought me my drink that had been sitting at the window. When I ordered a second drink, I too had to wait for this drink while I watched it once again sit at the bar without anyone bothering to deliver the drink. Willow did not once check to see if my drink had been made let alone delivered to me. Willow never even noticed that I had gotten my drink. The bartender needs to pay better attention to the drinks that they make and ensure they don't sit at the window for too long. No one wants a drink that is watered down from melted ice. Both the bartender and the service need to get their act together. Service was just terrible. Interesting to note, but later that same day, I saw the manager that had to get my drink sitting at another restaurant having a drink. Why not drink where you work? Service was that bad. As far as the food goes, it was just OK. I ordered a breakfast burrito and asked for extra bacon rather than having sausage as well. Willow told me that would be OK however, I'm not sure there really was any bacon in it as I couldn't find any. I did not say anything because the service was so bad I figured that to correct it would take all day nor did I want to deal with it. By this time, I was done. The menu states the breakfast burrito is spicy when it is NOT spicy at all. In fact, it lacked seasonings and flavor. Also, there was barely any green chili not that it mattered because the green chili really needs work as it is pretty flavorless. The Bacon Benedict tasted OK but the portion size is way too small for the price. It's not something we'd order again. The breakfast potatoes suck too. Fingerling potatoes and sweet potatoes mixed together are NOT breakfast potatoes. The potatoes lack any seasonings and would be better if made with onions and some green and red peppers. They just weren't that good. Between the horrible service and the mediocre food, I won't ever go back for brunch nor will I recommend this place for brunch. You get better service and brunch food at The Back Porch, Arise, The Blind Pig, or Snooze AM. We've dined here many times for dinner and have never had bad service or food. To say this was disappointing is putting it mildly. read more

The one star is deserved only for the ambiance, we really enjoyed the relief of a calm place where we could hear each other talk. But maybe that was because we were some of the only people in on a Saturday night. The first weird thing was that when we walked in we were asked if we had a reservation (which we did because I had read to do so in other reviews), however there were at least 20 empty tables inside and out at 8pm. All of the food fell flat, and we ended up leaving and having to find something else for dinner after spending close to $40, even after the most expensive item was taken off our bill. Lamb meatballs: ridiculously tiny, literally quarter sized diameter, sauce could have been richer, but overall ok. Bacon and Brussels: we love this dish normally and were really turned off by the sweetness. Not sure if it was natural juices from the apple or if they add apple juice but I wish I had ordered without the apples. Sweet potato goat cheese dip: loved this one, no complaints here. Steak tips in gorgonzola fondue: this one really ruined it for us. Waitress asked if we wanted pink or no pink. It came out in the tiniest little slices, completely overcooked. Waitress noticed and offered to try again. The replacement dish was literally raw. You would think after having to replace a dish we would be checked on promptly, but no. We sat there wanting to leave for over 20 minutes starting at raw steak. The prices are too high for the portions, and the flavors just don't hit the mark. The menu has so much potential but we think the chef needs to go. Will not try again. read more

So, I have a lot of food inconveniences... due to a bladder disease. I love simmer because of their unique food offerings and the attention the staff pays to my specifications. So we order spinach dip which comes with bread and veggies. Knowing the menu as I did, I asked if we could have some gluten free bed for me for the dip. I could tell this wasn't a usual request, however my waitress was so accommodating and incredibly attentive. There were definitely some kitchen staff walking past our table several times to observe me. I think it's just easier to ask about the severity of my gluten intolerance instead of having several men walk past your table, but I'm used to it. I have a chronic bladder pain disease which affects my diet greatly so it's nice when people ask what the issue is instead of having people do laps and making assumptions. However! Our waitress and the staff that day were beyond accommodating; providing me with gluten free bread for the dips and even making me a second entree after I failed to see the "chili oil" on my dish description. It was 100% my fault for not seeing that and our waitress insisted on us not paying for the entree I couldn't eat and ordered us a new one free of charge, sans chili oil. I am beyond grateful for the non judgmental and completely gracious service we received. We loved Simmer before and love it even more now. Thank you so much to the staff and we will be back. Honestly was majorly disappointed by the food. I got the Steak Diane which was extremely underwhelming. The steak was over cooked and although it had some flavor there is no way the seasoned home cook would have over cooked it like this was. Overwhelming majority of the pieces were a pain in the jaw. This is the first Yelp review I have ever written because I had to make sure and voice that paying $27 for this dish was extremely aggravating. Additionally the seasonal greens just included about 5 small pieces of asparagus with some grated Parmesan and it felt almost insulting with again, the $27 price tag. Calamari appetizer was chewy and the fried outer layer would just come off with the first bite so it would be like a bit of bread followed by chewy squid. Mashed potatoes and the Diane sauce were delicious. Really the stars of the plate which was sad in a steak dish. I came to Simmer purely because of the awesome reviews but after that meal I have to imagine something was awry in the kitchen or this place is really not what it's supposed to be. read more

This was delicious and we will definitely be back. Great service by Emily, looked like the owner was helping to run meals (?), and our burgers were tasty. We had the angus burgers with mashed potatoes and that popper mashers side (brilliant!), a tomato bisque soup (perfection), and a hot drink. The sides were plentiful and the potatoes were clearly made on site. Arugula was fresh (I hate soggy lettuce bits). Service was ideal. They have a heated open patio (chilly but with a very cool cold weather discount!!), and an enclosed patio (looked warm but goes fast in this Covid restriction era). We are about safety right now, so we chose the colder patio spot (Winter/Pandemic). Maybe I would salt the mashed potatoes a little less, if I'm being picky, but no question we will be back. I came here for my husband's birthday, and our entire family could not be more than satisfied. They have all Covid precautions in place and are operating under the strictest sanitation and social distancing guidelines. Our waiter/bartender Kyle was amazing. They make all their food from scratch, everything from the sweet potato fries (that I usually don't like) to their cheesesteak and burgers were to die for. I am from out of state, coming in from Miami and New York, and the fresh-to-order food at this restaurant elevates cuisine to a whole other level. I am so happy that I made this choice in restaurant, and I feel bad that I couldn't take a second to take a picture of the delicious food. My daughter and I tried this place last night. It looks like it recently opened. One of the wait staff mentioned having just finalized the menu. The interior is open and inviting. I found my chair to be very low. I'm 6'4" and I almost needed to do a full squat to sit down. Our waitress was friendly and informative. We were visited by several servers and an assistant manager. All made us feel welcome. I will say the attentiveness could have been better, but to their defense, they got super busy super fast right after we got there at 5pm. We ordered bacon wrapped dates and zucchini strings with taziki sauce. Both were awesome and come highly recommended. For our main course, my daughter got the caprese grilled cheese. She loved it. I got the hot Nashville chicken sandwich. It was spicy but not overboard. Great bun, sour pickles and slaw. Now for the coke slaw. I will preface by saying I love slaw and order it whenever I can. I come from New England where slaw is a big deal with seafood. This coleslaw was one of the best if not the best I've ever had. There was a secret ingredient that made it special and wow it was amazing. Check them out. Simmer is worth a visit or two. read more

We really like Simmer! We like the vibe, the art, the outside patio and especially the food! We were told it was hamburger month. Who knew there was such a thing? I ordered the special hamburger created for this month. It was named Bacon and Brie burger, but what they didn't tell you was that it also had red wine glazed onions. It was juicy ordered medium, and might be one of the best burgers I've ever had. I ordered the side salad instead of other choices, but the handful of lettuce with some carrot medallions, cucumber rinds and 1/2 cherry tomatoes didn't seem special at all. After one bite of the hamburger, I couldn't have cared less about the salad. Both of my dinner partners ordered the Simmer burger which consisted of lamb, beef, and bacon mixed. Both of them thought it was excellent. The music is loud, but good to listen to. A very good scratch kitchen that we are happy to return to soon. read more

Went to Simmer for my birthday dinner. We had small plates, the muscles, devil's on horseback, apple salad. All really good, especially the devils on horseback, so decadent. It took us a long time to try Simmer because every time we tried it was so crowded! It was worth the wait. Such a nice place with good, original food in Midtown. Excellent meal! Are off their seasonal peach menu. Peach sangria was strong but tasty. The bartenders here are friendly and competent. I've eaten here a half a dozen times and enjoyed each meal. Today I had the halibut with peach pico on a bed of wild rice and green beans. The greens were were lightly sautéed, crisp and sweet. The rice was light and fluffy but full of flavor. The pico was fruity, not too sweet, not spicy. The fish was blackened, fresh and delightful. Two years ago, this restaurant was great. Unbelievable food. Good service. But something changed. Management? I've stopped going and, when friends suggest it, I change their minds. The food is only ok now. The service is annoying. They interrupt your conversations to ask if you want more water. Just fill them up. Don't interrupt my date. One time I was with a group of 10 people. We couldn't get the server to refill our teas. We must have asked five times. Finally I got the tea pitcher from the server station and filled them up for everyone. Someone needs to train their servers properly. read more

My friend loved the beet salad and I had a chicken/brie sandwich that was so creative and tasty. Our server Maddie was so friendly, fun, and helpful with wonderful recommendations. We got the cauliflower hot wings and ricotta caprese to start, then I got a caprese baguette and my boyfriend had the bison short ribs. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and full of flavor. The baguette was light, refreshing, and delightful. We especially loved the cauliflower wings. Every single bite was utterly delicious. He was excited to have me as a guest and made sure I had a smile on my face. I had the chicken and waffles. Man oh man! The sweet potato waffles were on point. The chicken breast wasn't too heavily battered and was cooked perfectly. The Nashville Hot sauce was the perfect heat index (I'm a big baby with heat) and had an amazing flavor. Just left Simmer and wishing I could give it a better review. First- I felt misled by their happy hour advertising. The marquee out front and the menu both say happy hour is from 3-6 and includes well drinks, Colorado beers and $5 glasses of wine. Come to find out that really means two choices of wine and two choices of beer. I didn't go there because of the happy hour promotion but felt deceived anyway. Not a great first impression for a new business. I can't believe they only have two beers on tap. After enjoying a full price pre dinner beer I ordered food. Had the filet tips with Gorgonzola "fondue". It was good but not sure why it was called fondue. Also had the house salad . That is where I Experienced more than disappointment. My salad consisted of greens,carrot coins, skin on (bitter) cucumbers and "heirloom"tomatoes. The tomatoes were TERRIBLE both my dining partner and myself bit into a rotten tomato and we both received a unripe tomato. There is no excuse to serve the unripe tomato as it was visible to the eye. I had to ask for pepper and they brought a pepper mill that didn't really work. No salt offered The seating was not great : Tables so close together I felt as if I was sitting with the people next to us. In addition my seat was at a different height that my companions At the same table I won't try again there were too many issues.
