I've been to Simmer twice. The first time was during their happy hour and ended up trying a few of their appetizers as a result of happy hour prices and they were enjoyable. I then went again recently during dinner and ordered their vegetable gnocchi. They accidentally brought out some gnocchi with a massive amount of chicken. Looked great but I don't eat meat and it isn't what I ordered. It was a bit awkward from a service side but I chalk that up to a younger staff and it was ultimately okay and, while I didn't eat any of the chicken because I pointed it out, they didn't really address the mistake at all even verbally other than to take it back. The food is good but ultimately I would choose more so coming there during their happy hour as I did and doing so with friends. It's a great place for delicious food at happy hour prices and quality conversation with friends. read more

Celebrated our first anniversary there in a cozy outdoor seating. Ordered their fish and chips and my husband took one of their sandwiches. Although my fish had that distinct fish smell which I hate, I think people who genuinely like fish might not have an issue. Their bacon wrapped dates and crab rangoons were delicious! The manager followed up with me on my review. I really appreciate this, when it happens. He asked me to give it another try, which I did. I had a much better experience. However, they did try to seat us in the weirdly uninviting patio again with the the unstable tables. I asked to be inside and they explained that they consider this inside from a reservation perspective. If I want to be inside the actual nice part, I need to write it in the comments. I still find this annoying. But they did seat us where we wanted to be and we had a great experience. read more

I mostly love this place because it has so many vegetarian options with great flavor. My favorite appetizer is the cauliflower wings. They also have vegetarian sandwiches and it's easy to make their Brie and apple sandwich vegetarian! It's hard to find good veggie sandwiches but Simmer is good at that. I stopped by this place the first time right after they had opened years ago for brunch. The food was good, the drinks were good, the prices were insanely high. I was looking for a lunch spot in the area recently and Simmer popped up with the mention of their new lunch specials for a screaming deal! I was in! Located on the corner of a strip mall, Simmer is surprisingly classy and cozy inside. There's a heated enclosed front porch area, but we opted to sit inside the main restaurant. Our server was over to help us immediately and gave some great recommendations. I went for the walnut butternut squash ravioli and a side of the seasonal vegetable - roasted asparagus. The portion size was smaller than the dinner size, but still very generous! The flavors were on point with a hint of sweetness from the butternut and the drizzle of balsamic glaze, and the walnuts added a nice crunch to the tender pasta. The asparagus was roasted to perfection - tender while still being crisp, and wonderfully seasoned without being too salty. We ended the meal with a shared piece of key lime pie and relaxed into our gluttony before finally braving the winds to head out the door. While I think I'll probably stay away for the dinner menu, except perhaps on extremely special occasions, I'll absolutely be back for this incredible lunch special! read more

Service was great - our server was friendly and answered every question we had. Ordered two burgers and the veggie of the day - brussel sprouts. After a 30 minute wait the server finally brought out the burgers which were burned on edges, dry and 1/4" flat. Fixins were good which made them edible bc we were starving. After we'd finished the burgers the brussel sprouts finally came out watery, squishy and they tasted like oil and water. Couldn't eat more than one. Never had this experience here and very sad. Hope management improves quickly so they can focus on amazing cooking again. read more

I have gone by this restaurant multiple times but had never been in before. ***If you are coming in on friday/saturday reservations are required.*** Our server was fantastic. She was super friendly and super on top of it. The menu is clearly labeled for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian which is very helpful when you have dietary requirements/needs. I ordered a side salad and sweet potato fries. My husband thought his was good. He did enjoy the happy hour prices. Food was meh and makes me want to cook from home but drinks are great. Servers were amazing but come to find out they fired this one young man that happened to be my wife and I's favorite person to talk to when we came in. I also overheard a manager (or someone I think is in charge) insulting the intelligence of his servers multiple times throughout the night and seemed very rude. We had the opportunity to pop in for a quick lunch over the weekend and we adored how out of the way the location felt. It is a little older but has interesting art and was obviously cared after. The staff were friendly and attentive, taking the time to check in without being overbearing. We had the kid's cheeseburgers, fish and chips, salad and grilled shrimp. It was nice to see a place that would cook a kid's burger medium rare rather than automatically making it well done. The food was, across the board, pretty solid. However, the coleslaw was weirdly kale forward and felt more like a salad than coleslaw. The fish were well cooked but needed salt. By adding lemon, salt and pepper to taste it all would up being pretty good. I would recommend considering one cheeseburger for two kiddos, if they are smaller or aren't as hungry. Our girls each finished half and were stuffed! Overall, a good little spot to try!!! read more

Simmer is a great place for a date night or friends night out. They have a diverse menu with lots of great options, even vegetarian and gluten free! The first time I ordered from Simmer I got cauliflower hot chicken and waffles delivered to my house, which were so amazing. Last weekend we came here on a date night, and I tried to talk my partner into order them--but he insisted on the hot chicken and waffles instead. Unfortunately they ran out of waffles and he said the fried chicken was overcooked and the breading was coming off. I know if he tries the cauliflower next time it'll be the right choice. Plus, our waiter was kind enough to give us a free slice of key lime pie as a consolation prize, which was very kind and tasted absolutely delicious. As for me, I ordered the yellow fin tuna and soba noodles. The serving was so big it lasted me dinner that night and lunch the next day. It was flavorful and perfectly light-- I was glad they didn't overdo it on the sauce. I'd say the most cost effective way to eat at Simmer is to enjoy a cocktail and share the tofu lettuce wraps. That's probably what we'll do next time, but we'll also be back to split the Nashville hot cauliflower and waffles!!! read more

Omg !!! Love this place. The cheesesteak sandwich was AMAZING. the best I've ever had. Highlight of our visit for sure. I'll admit I was a little bit nervous to order a breakfast burrito (they usually come with a lot of cheese at other establishments) since I have a dairy allergy, however they made my breakfast burrito dairy free and it was DELICIOUS! We came here on Mother's Day this past weekend and they did a fantastic job from beginning to end. They took reservations, so it made it less chaotic as most Mother's Day are. Our server was very attentive, as we all arrived at slightly different times. Apps were very good (dates/bacon and the pep paw stuffed peppers). The entrees were also very good all around, i had the Nashville hot sandwich. We never felt rushed at any time. Hidden gem in Fort Collins with easy parking. First time here and loved it. We started with the Asian hot Cauliflower wings. Large portion and so good with a fresh ranch dipping sauce. We followed it with a beautiful and amazingly fresh beet salad with the beet pesto. The salad was absolutely amazing. See picture below. I had the Maui short rib burger with angus beef, pineapple and short rib on top. Honestly, one of the best burgers I have had with fresh beef and a hot soft bun. The chicken satay had two large chicken breasts with rice, grilled tomatoes, zucchini and a home made peanut sauce. I also had the spicy mango margarita-so good and reasonably priced. I was surprised how good EVERYTHING I tried was. The appetizer was the best coconut shrimp I've had. My main course was the Jamaican jerk chicken and it was perfect! Just a bit spicy and VERY flavorful. It came with asparagus and sweet potatos, but I requested the mashed potatoes, which went along great with the chicken. The juice from the chicken was a perfect gravy. The portion sizes are HUGE. Dessert was the best key lime pie I've ever tried. I will definitely be back and tell others about this place. We tried this place out recently and really liked it! Ambiance is relaxed but sophisticated without being pretentious. Food was okay, although my friend had the burger and it was really tasty. What was really the most outstanding of the experience was our bartender, Heavenly. She was so nice, attentive, and making sure all of our needs were met, despite how crazy busy it was. Also, she made the BEST cosmo I ever had, and even made an amazing custom cocktail to my super picky friend... I only recently tried this place out and although my experiences have been positive, my review is mixed. I've been here three separate times for business and personal occasions. In addition, I've ordered takeout/delivery twice. First, let's start with what's good: Good service. Great atmosphere. AMAZING Crab Rangoon (literally, the best). Each time I've visited, staff has been friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is great for business or personal occasions--suitable for formal or casual gatherings. They have a great patio with covered and uncovered sections. But what absolutely keeps me coming back is the Crab Rangoon appetizers. These babies pack such a punch in flavor, are always perfectly fried and paired with an AMAZING blueberry habanero sauce that's a compote-like consistency. I could eat these all day everyday and I will absolutely never go elsewhere for them. This is why I've patronized this business five times within the last month (both my takeout orders were just the Rangoons lol). That said, here are some of the drawbacks: Allergens. Cost/portions. Mediocre/bland food. When I went there for my friend's birthday, we ordered a couple of gluten-free items from the menu--or so the menu said). Unfortunately, when we went to order our entrees after we'd already started our apps, the sever let us know the bacon dates were fried in oil that is definitely NOT gluten-free. To be fair, my friend absolutely should have disclosed their allergy up-front (she is terrible about that!). And the server immediately got us a gluten-free replacement and was so on top of it (thank goodness my friend had only eaten one of the "tainted" dates). However, it's so important to distinguish between "GF" (gluten-free), "Gluten-Friendly," and "GFA" (gluten-free available) on menus for precisely this reason! Bottom line, even if something says gluten-free on the menu, let them know your allergies up front (as they request on the menu). The second drawback is the cost. Some items I'd consider average for this type of place, but others I think are quite overpriced, given the quality and portion. While I've noted how much I LOVE the Crab Rangoons, almost everything else is "meh." The cauliflower wings lacked texture and crunch--they were essentially steamed cauliflower tossed in sauce. Not for me. Also, the serving seemed quite large for an app. The bacon-wrapped dates are good--they have a really great texture--crispy bacon with a melt-in-your-mouth date and balsamic reduction. I tried soup once and it was lukewarm--not a great look for $7/cup. I was also disappointed with the Pesto Chicken Baguette. Bland and dry; zero flavor with stale bread (I think it was likely baked in an oven lacking humidity). The same goes for the Chicken, Apple and Brie Baguette. It's as though neither of the sandwiches had sauce--the dishes were just so, so dry. On another occasion I tried the Pasta a la Fresca with Shrimp. It was okay. But also lacking flavor--which is wild, because typically Pasta Fresca has SO much flavor from the sauce, but they definitely skimped on the balsamic, garlic and basil. I also didn't care for the use of long noodles, but that's just preference. After all those entree fails, I was determined to find something on the menu that held a candle to the Rangoons. On the next visit, I tried the Jamaican Jerk Chicken. Can't go wrong with all those flavors, right? Wrong. While the chicken was much more moist compared to the sandwiches, the sauce missed the mark. The dish is also HUGE with tons of beans and rice and a very large portion of chicken--unnecessarily large; I understand Americans like our giant portions, but it's weird how inconsistent their portioning is from dish to dish. Regardless, I'll return for the Rangoons alone. I am particularly curious about the short rib and the curry, but at this point worried, given how disappointing everything has been and how much I've wasted on throw-away food. Each time, I've just asked to take my entree to-go, as I didn't have the heart to say it wasn't good. After all, what can you do when it was clearly correctly prepared, but you just don't like it?! It's not like a refund is appropriate. You just count your loss and move on. But definitely check this place out if you haven't. Come for the Rangoons. Stay for the Rangoons. read more
