I've visited this pharmacy a couple of times now; mostly to drop off Amazon returns. I like that they give you a receipt for your drop offs; very important when you are returning your packages. This place is located across the street from Target and right before the 18th Ave (N line) train station. It's convenient and can be easily found. It's a big place. I also like that they displayed posters/ flyers of all of their services on their windows/ entrance, i.e. Amazon Hub counter, DMV Eye exam, and accept package drop offs (for FedEx, UPS, DHL, Amazon, and USPS). They are also serve as an Amazon locker, where you can pick up your orders from them. So they are more than just a pharmacy. The staff were friendly and helpful. While I was in their store, I also noticed they sell greeting cards and chocolate. They have a lot to offer. read more

I live in the area and this is convenient to ship or pick up packages from UPS, USPS, FEDEX, etc. Staff can be a hit or miss but hey it is what it is. I don't take it to heart, I'm in and out relatively fast. Yes this a pharmacy which does carry most items like any other local pharmacies or chains, pricing can be hit or miss. Silver Rod Pharmacy sells products that other pharmacies typically sell: medications, hygiene products, beauty products, cleaning products, greeting cards, etcetera. I was a customer of Silver Rod to buy one particular product that they had in stock. My favorite shampoo has been sold out at big chain stores for a while (I hope that the manufacturer is not discontinuing it!), but I saw that the shampoo was available through Silver Rod Pharmacy's website. Silver Rod Pharmacy's price for a 13.5-ounce bottle of shampoo was the same as what a 25.4-ounce bottle used to cost elsewhere, despite the shampoo being on "sale." In addition, Silver Rod charged me a fee of $16 for shipping and handling. Despite these higher costs, I ordered 10 bottles of the shampoo for delivery to my home. Two days later, Silver Rod shipped the bottles of shampoo to me. Three days after that, the post office delivered the box to me. Silver Rod had carefully packaged the bottles, and none of them were damaged or spilled. Overall, the prices of the product could have been lower, but I feel happy to have my favorite shampoo to use again. read more

This is one of the last independent pharmacies in Brooklyn. Silver Rod has survived for many reasons. First is the location. It is located on a busy , sunny, stretch of 18 Avenue. The store is small, and easy to navigate. It is the only store in the area that sells Papyrus cards. You can ship Fedex and UPS at this location. You can purchase lottery tickets here. The store has a loyal legion of mature customers who prefer a smaller, more personal method of doing business. Growing up at Bensonhurst, this was my go to pharmacy. The staff is always friendly and they remember all their customers by their names. They have a little bit of everything so while I wait for my medication, I can always shop around the store. You also can test your luck and buy lottery or scratch off tickets. I think they are scammers selling items online they do not have. Why else would they take your money instantly, at the same time telling you they are sorry your item is adding late (16 days) Maybe that explains the inflated price, ordering it from another retailer. Then, forwarding it to you. They did not provide any cancellation option the second they get your money. I think they are engaged in deceptive trade practices. I get cat food here. It's the cheapest place around for it. They have a UPS, Fed Ex and DHL shipping center as well as mailbox rentals. It's like it's own little postal office. The real post office is like 3 blocks away though... I'm giving Silver Rod one extra star because one of the employees looks so coked up it makes me giggle on the inside. read more

My last experience with them was horrible. Came in to get something shipped the dude behind shipping counter was so slow I wanted to tell him to hurry the hell up or give my package back. He would slowly ring stuff up... then get into conversations with other staff as he was assisting me and stop doing everything to talk to them.. then slowly come back to my package and resume wrapping it... Then he put my stuff into a box with no filler I asked him to get something.. he moved like a sloth.. again stopped to talk to staff for 2 minutes.. right after that says 'I can't find anything'. Even though the post office is 3 blocks away, you can't ship UPS or FedEx there, so for me it's very convenient, if I get rid of anything heavy on eBay. Their hours are also much friendlier, especially if you're shipping something through USPS (which isn't even open Sunday). Though each service only picks up packages once a day at 5pm. Never actually bought anything there though =). Staff seem friendly. read more

Was told that silver rod pharmacy had a ups drop off station. I decided to go there because it was convenient for me since I live within walking distance. The Asian clerk lady behind the desk was so rude. I politely asked her a question and she responded with sarcasm. Not only to me but to all of the other customers before and after me. As if it was our fault that she's having a bad day. Her nose was pink and runny. Pretty unsanitary. Maybe she should've just taken the day off. I took my box with me and left. I've been going to them ever since then for all kinds of items from dog treats to life saving medicine. The staff is top notch. They don't treat you like a number like CVS or Shoprite. This is a pharmachy + and it has a shipping section where you can drop off for UPS, USPS etc. Yesterday I stopped by with 2 packages which had preprinted USPS labels. The Chinese clerk stared at me (I'm OJ ; obviously Jewish) and if looks could kill... She told me as if in anger that the charge will be $1. for each pkg. I said OK. I gave a $5. bill she gave change... Angry.. for what? When she did not say 'thank you' I said the standard "you're welcome" and walked out of the store, never to return. read more

This is the closest area to ship things! They pack it for you and everything. I dont know how to purchase prepaid labels so I come here and they do it for me. Post office is a bit farther so yeah, I dont like going there anyways. Always a long line! Silverrod has great service. Just not when their internet is down though. Silver Rod is the BEST!!!!!! Every time I've had issues with getting prescriptions filled by my insurance (which is a lot) Khul and the team at Silver Rod have gone above and beyond to help me. They're prompt, they follow up, and remember my name even when I've been there in months. I can't say how much I appreciate their service. I absolutely hate going here to drop off or pick up my packages. The cashiers are usually kids who seem like they hate their jobs. There were two cashiers one helping a customer who was taking forever and another doing absolutely nothing. He tells me to wait in the line behind the other customer. Meanwhile he is walking around asking customers walking around about sports teams while there are clearly 2 scanners available. All I had to do was drop off a box. But instead of assisting me which would have taken less than 5 seconds, he would rather me wait. Top notch service here. read more

Silver Rod has been my pharmacy for over 10 years, there were other pharmacies wanted me to switch to them but I would not change to another pharmacy, there are many pharmacies out there but I only stay with Silver Rod. Joe and Khul from the pharmacy dept. are the main reason I am not switching to another pharmacy also the 2 owner. Joe and Khul always polite, extremely helpful, they are the best they work hard I never have any problems with them, they always help me/customers for their best interest. When I come here, it's like stepping back into time. It reminds me of my childhood, when my grandmother, may she rest in peace until I get there, would have her prescriptions filled here. When she was very sick towards the end of her life, in and out of the hospital, Silver Rod treated us with compassion and dignity, and helped get us the best prices on medications, suggesting generics when appropriate. They are a true old-school establishment on 18th Avenue, one of the last businesses of this nature left in Brooklyn. I dig the out of date decor. Some things in life shouldn't change. If your grandmother has the same furniture and decor since the Eisenhower administration, that shouldn't change, and neither should Silver Rod. I only go to Silver Rod - I walk many blocks past two Rite Aids to get my prescriptions filled here. They are polite, they phone you up when there's an issue, and they work with you to figure things out. Most of all, they know my name. I also drop off UPS packages there and they are one of the few places that give you a receipt. I appreciate their customer service and wish everyone in the neighborhood would go there. read more

Excuse I just got was, "well, our driver's car was broken down." Customers be very alert when playing the quick draw game. On may14,2011 I put money into the automatic ticket machine for a next game on the screen. I waited for the numers to be drawn and check for any winning numbers. I had six of the winning numbers, but some how to which I am going to call for an investigation, the ticket numbers for the game I played at the moment were for about ten minutes prior according to the store clerk. read more
