Not much to look at but don't let that stop you from doing take-out from this place! The burger was delicious and juicy! Staff was very friendly! I'll definitely be back for another burger when I return! read more

Waited forever for lunchroom style cafeteria food. Friendly service. Terrible sandwiches, burgers, and fries.

It's a rough looking little place that we drove past many times before stopping. If you like fried seafood, give it a try. Portions are large enough for 2 to share. read more

Outstanding Seafood dinners on the go! Timely readiness for pickup and we especially enjoy the fried oyster dinner plates!

Best Fried Seafood in Holden Beach. Love the popcorn shrimp and deviled crab. Proportions are large too! Just wish they had tarter sauce in cups instead of premade packets. read more

I ordered a small fish lunch. It was $12.49... for lunch. The fish was so dry and either overcooked or left out for hours that it was terrible. I was very hungry so I ate it and was sick in the bathroom for several hours. Stay away until they get better organized after the pandemic. They used to be really good. Once you make me sick, I'm done with you for good. read more

Best Calabash-style seafood I've had in quite some time. They know how to fry the good stuff. Only reason it's not a 5-star is they are really struggling with takeout service. 45 mins for a small seafood platter turned into a 1 hr 20 min wait on a week night and it wasn't just me who experienced this. Hope they can get their service together because the taste is amazing! read more

Quality level: Expert. If you're in Brunswick County and you like melt-in-your mouth Carolina-style (breaded) fried seafood, this is your spot. We drive from Raleigh a few times a year for seafood feasts. This is one of the spots that warrants that ride. Hush Puppies, good. Shrimp, amazing. Fish, on-point. Scallops, h*ll yes. The oysters are (even) good! (And we don't like oysters - it really means something!) If you're a family-reunion sized group or you're in a hurry, call ahead. There's only seating for 18-24 people and the turnaround on your order is just long enough to prove it's made after you order. If you want to pop your collar and talk about the drama at the country club while you sip wine with your pinky in the air, go somewhere else. Ain't no UNCW coeds putting white linen napkins in your lap here. This is, for the moment, one of those beautiful 'hole in the wall' family establishments that will leave you full and happy. Enjoy!! read more

My boyfriend & I got the shrimp & scallop burger, it was amazing! You can tell the food is fresh & cooked to perfection. If you're in the area I would definitely recommend you try it out read more

Not a place to eat in but an excellent place to take out. Very good seafood! Don't let the outside make you drive by. Oysters and shrimp are my usual. Fries to perfection. read more

This place does not look like much...but worth the trip.We order dinner here whenever we have a chance! The small combo platters fed everyone with no problems. We had shrimp, clams and scallops. All delicious, lightly breaded, fried but not greasy. (*They do have food for non-seafood eaters*) Since everything is prepared as ordered, please allow time. It is worth the wait for fresh, local seafood! #shopsmall #eatlocal (*Call in pick up...just like the locals*) read more

This is honestly the dive-iest place I have ever been to. When pulling up to the Silver Hill Grill, all you seen is a sort of run-down looking bluish-white trailer with a screened in porch; however, once you taste the food, you will be glad that you came. I haven't had any of the seafood here (though I do hear that it is delicious), but the burger and fries were great! read more

The place looks a dump from the street but don't let the looks fool you! Let's just say it is all take out and all fried. I go here each year and order 3 full seafood platters to feed 8 hungry people and there is usually left overs. I recommend buying of making your own tartar and cocktail sauce because what they supply in the little packets is not very good. But the seafood is! And the price is right! read more

Silver Hill Grill remains the best fried seafood in the Holden Beach area for the price. The fish sandwich (whiting) has a decent size filet, the scallops and clams are sweet, and the shrimp are small but nicely breaded and delicious. Time your order carefully, however, because it is a small operation, and they are usually swamped and typically running behind. We called at 5:10 and were told a 40 minute wait; arrived 50 mins later and had a 10 minute wait while they packed it up hot out of the fryer. Was totally worth the wait, you just have to have the proper mindset because it has always been this way. We've always had friendly service. read more

Don't be afraid of the outside! This is a real jem. Calabash style seafood with dogs & burgers also. I had the shrimp & scallop platter. All platters come with hush puppies, fries, and slaw. Excellent! It is only open Thursday to Sunday so plan accordingly. I will be back! read more

Best seafood around hands down large proportions service always nice and friendly it just a lil place nothing fancy about it but great food at a great price read more

I had a great scallop burger here. The fries were really good as well as the burger. I would recommend eating here if you're in the area or live in the area. We've ate here once but just have a lot variety in the area so we haven't been back yet. Great place to eat! read more

I've been eating at the silver hill grill since I was a kid and they never disappoint.

My family has been visiting Oak Island for the past 20 years. By far this is the best Calabash style seafood I have ever eaten in this region. If you can look past the humble location, in a trailer, eating on picnic tables you will be rewarded with the best fried southern seafood on the planet. The breading on everything was so light and crisp, the scallops were to die for, the deviled crab out of sight. Everything is made fresh to orderI just wish I had discovered this place twenty years ago. read more

The food was AMAZING, I mean AMAZING. I only gave 4 stars because the wait time was 1 hour and when we went to pick it up it was an additional 15 minutes. We didn't mind the wait at all once we ate. We'd wait an hour and half again and again. And the cherry on top our plate was packed with seafood and minimal fries. (No hiding fries to make it look like more for these people). read more

One of those places you would never find without the benefit of Yelp. Great for fried fish and shrimp takeout. It took about 20 minutes longer than we were told to receive food, but it was 6:30 on a Saturday night and we received 6 heaping entrees. Friendly service and neat ambiance with kitchen being in old trailer with small screen porch and a few picnic tables. I wasn't crazy about using packets of cocktail and tarter sauce. Fried seafood was crispy without being too greasy and good creamy slaw. We will be back. read more

Although you make think this place is pricy and long wait, it is truly worth it. The nest shrimp plate you will purchase. The food is always consistent and very good. Make sure you order way ahead of time. read more

Food was awful, we ordered a couple of plates to take home. That was a wasted $25. It had a terrible taste of old cooking oil. Just a house trailer on the side of the road. Really dirty and run down. Do not waste your time or money here. read more

Best Calabash style seafood in the area. Everything was fried perfectly and very fresh taste. We got the fried fish, shrimp and oysters. Highly recommend people try this place! read more

In spite of living in the area for 25 years, had never tried this small hole in the wall. Reputation was good seafood at a reasonable price. That may be the case but their customer service is worse than poor. Placed an order today at 5:40 and was told would be ready in 15 to 20 min. Returned at 6 only to be told not yet ready. Sat and watched customers come and go, but no food. In fact a very nice couple who ordered also paid for my meal. I was sitting and could be seen by the employee handling orders etc. Never once did she acknowledge my presence. During this wait my dog was in my hot car. At 6:20 I told her I was unable to wait any longer and to cancel my order and make sure the nice couple who had paid for my were reimbursed. She made no effort to explain why the lengthy delay and most importantly offered no apology. At my age, I don't need this aggravation and apparently Silver Hill does not need my business. read more

Order seafood every Sunday always great. The oil is always freshly changed that's what makes the seafood taste so good.

The seafood is so good here, it's much better than the other restaurants on holden beach. One large plate can feed at least two really hungry people, three if you're just average hungry. That being said, you should call ahead to order and expect to wait at least 45 minutes for your food. (They usually say 30 minutes, but it isn't). It's always been worth the wait, but it can get a little frustrating when you're hungry! read more

Went tonight and had read the reviews ahead of time so I knew to call ahead. I called at 5:50 and she said 45-50 minutes. I was running behind and didn't get there until 6:50 - full hour. Then they said another 10-15 minutes. I walked out of there at 7:25, an hour and 35 minutes after I called. I am fine with waiting but if it was going to be twice as long as they originally told me, I would have preferred to wait that extra 35 minutes at home than sitting on the porch. They need to figure out how to better estimate the wait times because I definitely wasn't the only one having this experience tonight. Still giving a decent rating because the food was pretty good. It wasn't anything to write home about, but if you are in town and don't want to drive down to Calabash then it's just as good. On a night like tonight, you would definitely spend more time driving down there and waiting than staying local and waiting. My husband got a large plate with shrimp and oysters, and I got a small plate with shrimp. A small plate is plenty for one person and could probably get two small ones, share, and have leftovers. Food was good. Price was okay (a little bit more than I thought the simplicity of it warranted). Wait/service was pretty bad. I might eat here again but, if I do, I will add more of a buffer to the wait time, for sure, or avoid a busy weekend night altogether. read more

This is a call in your order and take it home kind of place since there's usually a 20-30 minute wait after you order and very limited picnic table type seating. However I love, love, love the fried shrimp plate. Portions are generous and prices are good. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Don't let appearances fool you- this is the best seafood around. Yes, they are selling food out of basically, a trailer, but it's awesome. Be careful, it can get very busy around meal times. I love the shrimp burger with a side of hush puppies. If you're in the area, it's worth the drive. No ac, limited seating, but worth it! read more

A must for fresh fried seafood. You won't be disappointed. Usually get the "Captains Platter".

We had four adults order takeout. Man we had enough to feed ten people! The shrimp, scallops and coleslaw were delicious! The hush puppies didn't have much flavor but who had room for that? We will definitely be back our next visit! read more

The place doesn't look too great on the outside (Trailer with a screened in porch), but don't let that steer you away. Drove past this place for years saying to myself "How good can this place be?"... In my honest opinion it's the best fried seafood within a 100 mile radius. Portions are huge, and the food is of exceptional quality. They even got a 99.5% sanitation rating! You seriously can't go wrong with this place! read more

Have eaten here for over 10 years and the food is plentiful and tastes good. A little greasy but the taste, oh man.... I had never eaten out of a trailer before but will keep doing it until they shut down or I die. read more

Do not stop here if you are not ready to wait... We dropped by at 3:30 in the afternoon and ordered a cheeseburger and a fried seafood platter. The restaurant was not the least bit crowded, yet we had to wait for almost 30 minutes for our food. Nothing special about the food, the platter was quite bland. I have been coming to Holden Beach for 10 years and I will never go back to this restaurant again. read more

OK, call ahead for your food, but if you want some really bad for you and delicious fried seafood, you can't go wrong:). Big helpings. Shrimp was GREAT, cole slaw different but delicious. read more

Looks are deceiving with this place but let me tell you the food is amazing. You will not walk away hungry from this place.

Great place with local fare and local flare! Shrimp Burger is awesome! Small sitting area, so consider calling ahead for takeout. In spite of first impressions from the road, it is immaculately clean, including the restroom. You need to eat here. read more
