A hidden gem! This place impressed me - with good prices, and fast service!I was surprised to find it in a strip mall, but the food is great! Their flounder is amazing, I had the fish sandwich. The hush puppies and slaw are great, so are the fries. The BBQ is tad bit spicy but still tasted fresh. The workers are very attentive and hospitable, when I ask what they recommended from the menu, they passed the phone to a very enthusiastic customer who vouched for the seafood. My order was ready in 10 minutes on a Saturday evening, and we fed a family of 3 easily under $50! I will say you must request tartar sauce, I assumed it would come with it. This place was pretty good. We stopped in here for lunch since it was conveniently located to where we were staying. The food was basic sandwich shop food. They have burgers, sandwiches, fries, hot dogs, etc. We weren't looking for anything fancy. They did offer fried okra instead of fries. I got a grilled cheese with a side of fried okra. It was decent. We were all satisfied with our food. The place looks clean. The employees were nice. They brought our food to our table after we ordered at the counter. I love to stop in on Friday evening and get the large seafood platter. Fish crab shrimp and oysters. I don't get the fries because I love their coleslaw. Has a peppery flavor that is perfect to me. A small cafe next to the Food Lion in Holden Beach. Well worth the visit. Order at the counter and then find a seat. This place gets really busy. Their speciality is calabash seafood. Pick a platter and enjoy! Traditional hush puppies, great ice tea, shrimp, deviled crab, oysters, and flounder. Everything was delicious! Reasonably priced, and the service was very friendly. We went here for take-out due to the good reviews and it being local and we want to support local businesses. We were not impressed. The flounder sandwich combo was big, with lettuce and tomato and a side of fries. Hubby was never asked what he wanted to drink and was not told a drink came with the combo. The menu doesn't say. He assumed it came with what the platter had included. It doesn't. The platter had tasty coleslaw and and two large pieces of flounder. One piece was black due to the skin being on it. The sandwich also had black skin. Not appetizing and nothing we have ever had before with breaded fish. We peeled it off. Maybe some people like that, but we found it unusual and not tasty. We had hoped to get the deviled crabs but they were out. Sadly, I don't think we will be returning when there are other local places to try for seafood. read more

I had the shrimp and deviled crab platter and was thoroughly impressed. It came with so much food that I couldn't finish it all. Fried shrimp, 2 huge deviled crabs, hush puppies, coleslaw, fries. Love this place! The customer service was excellent. The food was delicious and ready in less than 20 minutes at dinner hour and well worth the price. I had fish, oysters, devil crab and shrimp with fries, hush puppies and slaw. This all only cost $18 and tasted like it was fresh caught that day! A huge plate of food! I was sad that we came here on our last day because I wanted to eat here again. My family had hot dogs for lunch here on a separate day and talked about how great they were all week. If you're a fried okra fan it's crispy and wonderful! I have not been overly impressed with service or food within Holden Beach but this place by far was my best experience. They have the freshest shrimp and flounder I've ever had at the beach short of going to the seafood market and cooking them at home. We also got banana pudding and it was very good. You get so much food for the money! We usually split a meal between us and that is still more than enough food each. Our kids had burgers and said they were very good and our seafood assortment was tasty, fresh, and didn't have a heavy oil flavor which is nice. read more

This is a Holden Beach gem! My husband went here everyday for lunch, and last night I decided to give it a try! The staff was so nice, the cheeseburger and pasta salad was to die for! Only reason I'm giving a 2 was the good oyster po'boy I had there last summer. Stopped earlier this week snd my husband and I both got burgers. Mine was all the way and his only with ketchup. These burgers had to have been cooked a week prior...they were worse than hockey pucks, super thin, horrible. So disappointed. This place got good reviews on TripAdvisor with "hidden gem" or "don't let the strip mall location fool you" type comments but, that just goes to show you how their reviews and vetting process are suspect compared to Yelp's. A couple of those reviews raved about the cheeseburger and "homemade" onion rings. The cheeseburger was a Bubba Burger type patty, horribly overcooked and I watched the guy pour the frozen rings out of a bag into the fryer so, not homemade. They have some fried seafood on the menu but, after the burger and rings, was glad I didn't go down that more expensive path. Far exceeded my expectations. I got take out of the oysters and flounder plate, the flounder was good, the oysters, slaw and hushpuppies were great! Hushpuppies are the true round southern kind and were nice and crispy. The slaw is top notch. Service was perfect. I was starving and could not eat it all. I will definitely be back. read more
