Casual place with freshly made breakfast and lunch items. We had the Breakfast Burrito and it was stuffed full with peppers, onions, egg and sausage/ham. Very filling and delicious. Service takes abit of time to prepare each item but it is worth the wait. read more

I've lived 1.2 miles from this places for years. I've gotten oil change across the street and smelled it several times but it didn't look like much and I'm particular about health scores so I, ignorantly, assumed it wouldn't be a good score. No frills diner food. Fast service, reasonable prices, good portions and easy access right off Hwy 17. A local landmark as long as I can remember. They have tamales!!!! That's exciting because they're hard to find in Brunswick Co. Super friendly service with an actual smile which is rare these days. Sonja's Grill, locally owned and operated, has been serving up breakfast and lunch to hungry diners for 32 years. Immensely popular with area contractors, businesses, and law enforcement, you'll often find a steady stream of customers during peak hours. The menu is colorfully written on large chalkboards near the north entrance, and they serve everything on it Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM until 3:30 PM. (Sonja's is closed Saturdays and Sundays and traditional holidays.) Navigating this cozy space is simple. Once you know what you want to eat, place your order at the window, pay, and then find a seat -- there's booths and regular tables inside, picnic benches outside. They'll call your number when your order is ready. It's a homey, no-frills establishment, and the food that comes out of the kitchen is quite good. The iced tea is excellent, made fresh each morning. They make a mean omelet and the grits are out-of-this-world delicious. The fried pickle chips were a hit at our table, served with a side of ranch dipping sauce. Sonja's was my favorite place to eat. This new El' Grill is a no go for me. I will not go back there again. The chicken sandwich used to be great, fresh fried chicken with cheese, pickle, lettuce and tomato. Now it was a thin frozen not even crispy piece of crappy chicken and nothing else on it, cheese lettuce and tomato was extra charge. The fries tasted like fish, and I was sick the rest of the day after eating this food. Will not go back. read more

My breakfast was greasy. The hash browns were from freezer at a discount grocery store. The cook deep fried the hash browns to a solid mass of burnt potato. The side order of ham was some pressed deli meat burnt from a grill. Eating from the lowest quality disposable plates and flat ware is not for me. read more

Nothing fancy, lots of misspellings on the menu, but it gets the job done and for only a few bucks. This was the worst breakfast I've ever had in this area. McDonald's is right up the street, you're better off going there. It took 20 minutes to be served two overdone eggs, burnt to the crisp bacon , greasy stale hash brown cake, white bread toast. Needless to say We WONT be back. Update..........I have ordered shrimp burgers at other restaurants and come to find out they all (the ones I've been to anyway) make their shrimp burgers the same way, with individual little shrimps. Well to be honest I can't give a review of the food. We walked in and stood at the door-weren't sure if we were to seat ourselves or wait to be seated but I guess it didn't matter since they failed to acknowledge us. It's a small place so it wasn't like they didn't see us. When they finally asked us if they could help us they told us to order at the window and then have a seat. The only "menu" was on a board without any prices. I'm not ordering ANYTHING unless I know the price. It looked like a great "hole in the wall" type of place, but I guess if you're not a local, they want you to move on. Very disappointed. read more

Sadly I can't give more stars. The restaurant is very clean and decor is homey. The prices are comparable to fast food places, but the quality is far above the fast food fare. Staff are courteous and everyone had smiles on their faces. The decor indicated that their faith in God is a guiding part of their lives and their business.
