I am visiting the area and I spent the morning going through Yelp listings trying to figure out what to eat. I took so long that it became lunch time. I've had a craving for a really good burger. Unfortunately, I still have the craving. I saw this listing where Yelp puts a description, "burgers with an Asian twist." I looked at the menu and saw no Asian influence but the burger pics looked good so I decided to try it. I had a small burger, which is funny cause it's a half pound of meat. Not so small unless it is compared to their large 14oz burger. I got it "all the way." I had to drive 5 minutes to get back home so I know my food will lose a little heat. When I sat down and opened the wrapper the bun was already getting a little mushy and the burger had almost no warmth. I bit into it and I can't describe the texture. It was a mushy bite, tasted no chili and got a sugary sweetness. Nothing in "all the way," tells me I am going to get a sweet bite. The chili, if it was there, had no flavor so that's why I'm not sure it was there. I can only assume the sweetness was in the slaw, which definitely is not a taste you want when eating a burger. The fries were fine. The order was small and, unhappily, they were unsalted. I didn't have any salt so I couldn't improve the flavor. If I can't find a better burger locally, I may try here again but I will eat it right away while it's hot. I will also get it without the chili or the slaw so I can avoid the sweetness. I don't usually give places a second chance but, I feel like, if I can get the burger in the Yelp pics then I will be happy. I would definitely suggest Yelp get rid of the Asian twist description in the listing. read more

Id go try this place for yourself but there are a few confusing things that happened. -why do they use styrofoam? 2-medium well doesn't mean still mooing (I still ate it because I hate complaining). 3-Mayo on top of cheese? Stopped on the way out of town ordered a small burger and fries to go, the burger was gray, greasy, and had a lot of pink spots in the middle on a mushy bun. I took one bite and could not eat it. Son introduced me to Little Bit's 7 years ago. Freshly cooked, small cheeseburger "Bit's Way" is my favorite, juicy, hot, great quality of meat, and fresh tomato, lettuce. I tried LIttle Bit's Grill on a long holiday weekend at OKI. The restaurant is tiny, with only a few booths and a small bar for seating. The Asian-inspired artwork wasn't what I expected at a grill in coastal NC, but at least it was a small surprise at an otherwise unimpressive restaurant. After reading the other reviews on Yelp, perhaps I should have tried the hamburger, but my hotdogs were mediocre and not nearly as good as the hot dog many convenience stores serve at a lower price point. Our server, who was excellent and very attentive, told me the hot dogs were deep fried. Instead of deep frying the hot dog to enhance the flavor and texture of the hot dog, the fry was used for a quick cook. The bun was very fresh, while I suspect the chili and slaw probably came direct from the food distributor. For $3, I received a tiny serving of fries that had obviously been sitting around and really should have been fried a minute or two longer. Based on my experience Little Bit's main selling point is its location towards the middle of OKI and definitely not the food. Meh read more

The only issue I have is if you don't get there early when they open, you can't get onion rings. They run out of them fast. I don't know if it's a problem getting onions or what. read more

I've had several to-go burgers from here over the years, but this was just my second time dining in. The place was neat and clean with no clutter and a unique blend of old-time diner with a unique nod or two to the Asian roots of the owners. Being the week after Labor Day, there were several tables available despite my noon arrival time. We were greeted and seated promptly, orders were taken and served quickly, and staff made sure our iced teas never approached anything resembling empty. The burgers were piping hot, cooked to order (medium for me, well done for my FIL), huge, and as tasty as always. Same goes for the French Fries and I appreciate the switch from the crinkle cut to strings. If there has been any change in quality after the retirement of Bit, it is not noticeable. If you are visiting OKI/Southport, Little Bits is one of the must-try Burgers in an area blessed with must-try Burger Joints. read more

The hours aren't the best for me 11-2 (not a lunch eater) but I finally made it there today. The small diner was full and we waited about 2 minutes for 2 seats at the bar. I read previous reviews that their burgers are very large, so I ordered a large (14oz!!) cheeseburger with a side of fries and my boyfriend ordered a large cheeseburger lil bit's way (everything on it!!) and a side of onion rings. Everything was made fresh right in front of us rather quickly. We were a bit intimidated by the size but both finished everything. I am a small girl and I think I impressed everyone by cleaning my plate! I love large portions, as I am used to Pittsburgh size portions. Burger was very tasty. We will be back! read more

Glad I read previous reviews about the size of the burgers. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger (small.) Burger was a fresh made patty, the bacon was crisp. I had them add chili to my burger, and I assume it was the canned stuff from a grocery store -nothing wrong with that, but it was easy to tell it wasn't made on premise. Fries were typical as anyplace would serve. Decor is Asian wall hangings, which seems a little odd for a burger place. To each his (or her) own I suppose. The server was friendly, so I guess I avoided the persons other reviewers warned about. Better than average burger. read more

We have tried to eat at Little Bit's several times. Seems like our timing was always off. A few weeks ago we were down for a few days and got there when they were open. I went in to order and was greeted. They brought the food out to the car and wow! What a burger. I ordered a large cheeseburger and got my wife a small one. If you are really hungry order the bigger burger but there is nothing little about either one. I am looking forward to my next trip to Oak Island and hope to make it back to Little Bit's! read more

I remember eating at this little place last year and thought that their burgers were literally to die for! Returning this year, not so much. Apparently they have started seasoning the burgers with a garlic salt, maybe too much of it. Certain bites of the burger were almost unbearable, even with all the mustard, ketchup, tomato, onion, lettuce, chili, slaw, pickles, and cheese on board- just GARLIC. I also was asked how I wanted the burger cooked, I chose medium well and it came back well done. Which this little place gets slammed pretty quick during lunch so... Maybe we caught them on a bad day? I really hate it because this was my favorite little place to visit. I give four stars because the owner is such a charm and her daughter is a superior waitress, very attentive. Just bring back the burgers I remember please! Will not eat there again. Gave the burgers two try's. First try- ordered medium well small burger all the way- burger was delivered raw- not rare like cool pink, but inside was cold raw like beef tartar. Sent it back, got another burger. Very bland burger. No taste or seasoning to meat beyond some garlic. Very large bland burger. If big and bland is your thing, this is the place for you. Waitress was very kind,attentive and apologetic. Tried one last time. Since they only have a very limited soda menu, and I don't care for Diet Pepsi, I ordered a Diet Pepsi with a shot of Sierra Mist in it just like I was served on my first visit. The very rude waiter said that wasn't allowed- to mix the sodas. I asked why and he replied the owner does not allow a soda to be mixed. I then told him he could tell the owner I would be having my soda mixed with 100% water and I'll just keep my 2 bucks and let her buy the cups (honestly had I not had a starving family with me I would have left right then. ) Anyway same dull burger, this time my sons burger was raw after being ordered med well.
