The Whole Farm - 2 eggs, 7oz grass fed Brasstown ribeye, bacon, grits (or hash browns), toast (or biscuit). Aug 2024
Chip R.

UPDATE: We made another visit to The Sea Biscuit Cafe again this year on our recent trip to Holden Beach. I still enjoyed my visit but it was not a perfect five star visit this time as it was the first time. They appeared to be very crowded (almost full parking lot) and we could tell the stress level when we came in. Still, our server was nice and helpful but we could see that they had a busy time of it then. We did have a considerable wait after ordering but when the food came, I still enjoyed mine just like last visit. This time I went with something simple/basic in The Boomer menu selection that included 2 eggs, bacon, grits, and toast. The scrambled eggs were again just as I like them and I really enjoyed the rye toast as well. Others got The Hen With A Grin (chicken and waffle) and Breakfast Poutine bowl with a pancake on the side. Of note, the chicken was commented on as pretty good but the waffle did not match expectations by the person that ordered this one at our table. I do like these guys for a good sit down diner breakfast but they appeared to be a bit overwhelmed on the day we saw them this year.

Love the Sea Biscuit Cafe. Service is great by servers. Sometimes they are a little overwhelmed BUT that's why you get connect 4 to play while the cooks make your meal fresh! I love when they have their chorizo bowl special! Their cheddar burger with homemade fries or chips is amazing! My husband enjoys the fried bologna add an egg! Just a quiet nice place to go if you enjoy a good cooked meal. I love their breakfast and their home fries. The only thing I wish is that they had homemade chips for dinner service.

Ham biscuit with fried potatoes

The food was very good! The service was running behind which they did warn us it would be a 15 minute delay before our order could be processed. The restaurant was clean but the price for breakfast was a little more expensive than we would like to pay. It was near $70 for a family of 3.

Called this avocado toast. It is not. I literally had to spit some of it out. I never rate restaurants as poor but holy cow this was awful.

Inedible. Like really really disappointed. The avocado toast was not avocado toast. The avocados were brown, the biscuit was hard. The pico had tomato stems. Just gross.

nice little mom& pop place. we went for bread and were very pleased! 1 waitress & she was hopping & friendly! breakfast & lunch only - they close at 2:30!! closed tuesday & wednesday! it's pepe's pizza 4-9 evenings! i ordered the seersucker - $10 with the pimento cheese on the side. hubby ordered the basic instinct - $9. portions are great & prices are fair.

The food was really good. Everything seemed fresh to order and tasty. The portion was perfect. We both left there full but not over stuffed. Service was on top. She was very attentive and came over often or looked over and gave thumbs up to make sure we didn't need anything. The ambiance was average, but clean and organized. Nothing fancy, but nicely decorated. We had a great first impression and would recommend it for others to try if they are in the area.

Port benedict dish

Went here for breakfast this morning after reading reviews. I will never understand how people can say good food when it looks like this pics below. First and most important Coffee was water awful. I ordered what was supposed to be a Benedict dish with pork loin with over easy eggs and biscut. Mind you I did ask the waitress how this was prepared and she sais thin slice of pork loin. No mention of fried. My vision was a thin slice of pork over a biscut with gravy. Instead I got this deep over fried chunk of pork that was not even able to cut with a knife. That was over fried tasted like dirty grease that was smothered with heavy gravy and 2 fried eggs. SO VERY NASTY Husband got 2 eggs over easy country ham, rye toast and bacon. The ham steak looked like it was sitting around just waiting to be reheated, the eggs were over done no yolks, (he said over easy). Toast was like hocky pucks and came out dry no butter no jam nothing. Then it was time to leave and had to stand at the register along with 3 others while the staff just continued to ignore all of until I fianlly said can someone please ring us out? Total attitude from the staff. This place is gross.. Run dont walk....

Terrible service and mediocre food. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Hardee's is better.

If you want an exceptional pizza while visiting the coast of NC, and you are near this…read moreestablishment, look no further. This pizza (recommending the Pineapple, Pepperoni and Mushroom, or Pepperoni and Mushroom for those that believe pineapple should not exist on a pizza), is out of this world. I am not talking about canned mushrooms or canned pineapple, I am talking about fresh from the market toppings. The pizza was hot on delivery, and the pizza delivery gentleman was just as nice as he could be. He was also lick-ahh-T-quick on arrival. We have had the pleasure of dining in the establishment before as they serve as a diner as well, and it was a cute little place and ambiance was cool for a little ocean diner, but it was not necessary to travel in to dine on this exceptional pizza. Delivery served us well! This is a MUST ORDER!

Bottom line: Ordering delivery from Pepe's Pizza is an easy low stress alternative to going out to…read moreeat or making a meal at the house when vacationing in the Holden Beach area. Tasty (like the cheese component here) but be aware that it is not a thin and crispy type of crust but a bit thicker. Easy to order and positive delivery people encountered. The Deets: We've had occasion to use Pepe's Pizza for delivery pizza a couple of summers when vacationing at Holden Beach. This business is the "evening version" of a location that is The Sea Biscuit Cafe for b'fast/lunch (where we have enjoyed their breakfast) then converts to Pepe's Pizza after 4pm. For home delivery, they are readily available for ordering online as well as phone and the process was fairly straightforward. Delivery people have been pleasant and done well each time. As far as the pizzas, they are good as some people our house really liking their cheese component. We have ordered such pies as pepperoni & mushroom, the same with pineapple added, cheese pizza, and one with multiple toppings. Pretty good taste wise, but the crust is a bit doughy/thick for my taste and others we vacation with here. We are pretty much a "thin and crispy" crust crowd. The last couple pies we had also may have had a bit more char on it than preferred. However, I'd say definitely the way to go if you want a low stress alternative to making a meal at the house or going out to eat at the beach. Feeling a bit towards 3.5 stars with the doughy crust/char going on but swinging up to 4 stars here as it's an easy order process, positive delivery people, and pretty good taste wise.

For drinks we tried the Linda Jean 'a Rita, Let's Mule This Over, Take Me To Brown Street and a pour of the tawny port. For food we tried the fried green tomatoes, crab cake, potatoes au gratin, grouper with peach salsa and the crisp for dessert. We normally enjoy sitting at the bar. We were pleasantly surprised the fans on the outdoor porch and beautiful shade trees kept us comfortable and cool. We skipped the appetizers because we had our sight set on dessert. I had the barbecue peach chicken breast with fresh Lima beans, corn and tomatoes, my husband had the bone-in pork chop with whipped sweet potatoes and a lovely cucumber/tomato salad. Every bite was flavorful, fresh and so enjoyable. The portions are large and usually we are asking for a to go box, tonight we hate the whole thing we did top it off with a delicious peach bread pudding topped with homemade peach ice cream, such a perfect ending! Normally, I'm not a bread pudding fan, however this place changed my mind. Did I mention our server was astute, knowledgeable and so attentive. We never waited for anything. The atmosphere is so cozy, relaxing and food was a delightful culinary experience. What a wonderful date night with my husband!!! We will be back again soon.
