Dim sum
Boris W.

I'm going to be brutally honest. Their dim sum is average at best. Their chicken feet, shrimp dumpling, shu mai, and tripes all felt mehhh. They're filling and inexpensive though. Their beef chow foon was good. If the dish was slightly drier, the noodles would've been even better. Finally, their spare ribs on top of rolled rice noodles were amazing. This dish is $15 and you get so much food! I will go back only for this dish!

Worth the lunch deal! It includes the entree, soup, and mini cookie dessert. I've lived in the area for years and never stopped by. Came by here on a whim and the lunch was very filling and super nice staff. Lunch was not busy but I know this place gets crowded on weekends and nights. I wish the dish had a little more spice but I've only tried one entree so no comparison yet. I would visit again!

11.11.23 I met up with a friend at 11:30 for dim sum. When we came there were a lot of vacant tables, but 30 minutes to an hour later it was packed so I am glad we came early. It's your traditional set up where they push carts around and punch a card based on the price of the item. Their selection didn't seem as extensive as other restaurants. It seemed like they were pushing out the same items. Also a few of the items such as the Fried Shrimp Taro Cake wasn't as good as other places I've had it at. Service was terrible! IMO, they are understaffed and could use a few additional staff. We had to flag down someone twice to request something. One was to request utensils and the second time was to place a carryout order. It took a while before the carryout order was ready so my friend had to check on the status and was told there was a delay as they ran out of the egg tart and were making it. My friend said it would have been courteous if they let us know. Also, I asked for the almond jelly to go and it is not what I was expecting. They did not put any cocktail fruit on it so I figured it was tofu. My friend ended up taking it home and confirmed it was almond jelly. She said it was good, but would have been better with cocktail fruit. I could have used a refill on my water, but given how hard it was to find anyone, I didn't bother. It wasn't the best dim sum I've ever had and the service was unsatisfactory, therefore, I am unlikely to return.

Oh silver fountain. It's not a trip home to the DMV without silver fountain. Will they yell at you and seem annoyed you're in the restaurant? Yah. Will the food be reliably decent? Yah. It's all part of the experience.

I haven't been to Silver Fountain in years, but the quality of the food and service is just as great as I remember! The restaurant is spacious, but from what I remember they get extremely busy during the weekend. I came for dim sum on a Wednesday which ends at 3pm on weekdays. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they offer their whole dim sum menu even on weekdays ()! They don't do the dim sum cart during the weekday (you order off a menu), but everything still came out hot, fresh and in a timely fashion. If you check them out, I highly recommend the sticky rice with duck or the bake pork buns!

The best dim sum , so worth the trip!

Make sure they're on your top list to visit for dimsum restaurant if you're craving for dimsum! They have wonderful selection of good dimsum, like steamed shrimp dumplings (hargaw), steamed meat dumplings (siumai), BBQ pork bun, steamed shrimps and chives dumplings, steamed spare ribs with black beans sauce, steamed rice noodle rolls with shrimps, steamed chicken feet, deep fried taro with meat fillings, sticky rice with meat filings wrapped in lotus leaves, preserved egg porridge, deep fried squids, fried turnip cake. They also have hot carts filled with hot dimsum that wandering around the restaurant offering what they have inside cart. It's interesting while you picked on the food, everything looks delicious in there! The service was good, especially if you speak Cantonese or Chinese but if you don't some of the servers speak very well English. We always visit for dimsum, but they're ala carte lunch menu looks good and promising too, maybe we'll stop by for lunch or dinner sometime, but in the meantime, their dimsum always attractive for us!

Typical American Cantonese food though not the best. Service was in a great order as it was for an event function. Space is a bit limited if you have large groups like 100.

This is the Chinese white broccoli dish I wrote about previously. It has Chinese sausage and another kind of preserved pork in it. I like the wood ear and the celery flavor.

Han Palace is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in DC, and there are two main reasons why:…read morethe portions and the drinks. First, the food portions here are astronomical. I ordered the Singapore noodles, which were packed with flavor and loaded with beef, chicken, and shrimp. The portion was so big that it honestly could be split between two people. I barely put a dent in it while I was there and ended up taking most of it home and eating off it for a while afterward. But the real showstopper is the bottomless drinks. For $18, you get bottomless Mai Tais, lemon drops, and mimosas, and the best part is they do it all day, not just during brunch hours. You can pull up at 7 p.m., get dinner, and still do bottomless drinks, which is something you don't see very often. Between the massive portions, the flavor, and the all-day bottomless option, Han Palace is an easy five out of five for me. If you're in DC and haven't been here yet, this is a must-go spot.

This is a much needed addition to the Connecticut Ave corridor which lacks authentic Chinese restaurants and especially Dim Sum (brunch small plates). I hope that there are more choices like this in the near future for this surrounding area which lacks good traditional Chinese restaurants. The parking can be daunting since it still is in DC, might have a bit of a walk but that is everywhere in DC. The food was fast and had some unique choices that are not on a standard menu.

My friend is craving dim sum after being in the country, visiting from Hong Kong for 3 weeks. My friend is quite tan, his mom is Filipino, but he grew up in HK and speaks mostly canto and Tagalog. We tried speaking Cantonese to the staff who are speaking it to each other, so they clearly can. My friend has perfect Cantonese. Mine is ok but I am also very clearly Chinese. They replied in broken English instead. One waitress looked at my friend and handed us forks. So clearly, some racism/colorism in the staff. Context: lots of Filipinos in HK are maids and generally looked down on, so not surprised this happened here. The food was mushy and gross. The shrimp in the cheung fan was grayish. It felt like they had this ready early in the morning and reheated it for later. Siu mai was falling apart. Cha siu bao was good but how do you mess that one up? I've gotten take out from this place before in the past and I always forget why I try to not come here, they forget something every time. At this point I'm sure they're doing it on purpose, like little thieves. Anyway, this place has the advantage of being close, with so little dim sum options in the area, unless you want to make the trip to Tysons or Vienna. Or Maryland. One staff member was laying down on a bunch of chairs nearby loudly watching something on her phone. Any other day, I wouldn't complain about that, everyone deserves a break. But given the food quality and the clear racism in the staff, they should be called out for everything. As with any Asian restaurant, feel free to treat me like trash if the food is good. But this place fails in both places.

I can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review about this place…read more I don't know where to start, so I'll keep it simple: This place is amazing. Go here for Dim Sum, get everything you know you'd like and then get some random stuff just to try it and see if you like it. It's amazing. My family drives here for special meals a couple times a year all the way from Richmond, VA--about 3 hours away if the traffic is decent. And we do it because the food is fantastic. My favorite item are the golden pork buns, but really, there are so many wonderful things on the menu. And it's affordable too! Grab a couple friends you don't mind splitting plates with, because everything has 3-4 pieces per plate. Each plate is about $3-7. You end up incredibly full by the end of the meal, having only spent maybe $60-70 or the whole table. Go try this place!!!

The service is good and the bathroom was way cleaner then anticipated. Crispy beef: One of their favorite dishes, I thought it was pretty good. Fried spicy tofu: One of their favorites, if you scrape up the garlic and seasoning to eat together it's fine. Not a fan of tofu but you could think it was bread if you didn't know. Dry flat noodles with pork: A tad salty but overall pretty good. Black pepper beef: Very chewy, not at all peppery, and decidedly average. Spicy eggplant with pork: No one liked this. Rice: Not sticky enough for eating with chopsticks. I didn't have anything very authentic, but for classic Chinese carryout you can do much worse.
