Caught fish before we even had all of the lines dropped!! We wanted to do some things in Colorado that we are not able to do back home in Mississippi and ice fishing was on our list along with dogsledding and snowmobiling. We were so thrilled to have this ice fishing trip recommended through our Summit County Mountain Retreat company that we rented our condo through. George at Silver Flask Fishing got us SO excited about ice fishing right at the start! He was just like one of our family! My daughter and I went out for the day with him. My husband and 9 yr old son didn't get to go due to my son having altitude sickness (where we live it is only 279 ft. -- Our condo and expeditions were at 10,200+ ft.!!) Needless to say he was VERY disappointed!! I assured him we will definitely call GEORGE and plan another trip (after we acclimate slowly on the next trip!) We caught fish (lost some, too, but that is part of the learning process); he taught us well and was so patient with us; he cleaned our fish and gave us his dad's recipe for easy, but tasty pan fried trout and salmon (those are the 2 types we caught). Unbelievable experience! George haas every set up in record time (5 min or so) and we had our lines in the water at exactly 9am. Caught our first trout less than a minute after dropping the line. Didn't slow down there, we caught our limit in the first hour, but he kept us going the whole trip. We brought in four different species and had several hard hits from some monsters. We brought snacks, but were too busy to break them out. George really focuses on teaching you and I will no longer say I can't fish, (as long as he's around anyway). He is great for novices like me and more seasoned fishermen like my husband. Had a great time with George on the Dillon Reservoir. We were in Keystone for a family ski trip and was looking for something else to do and Silver Flask Fishing was on the top ten list of things to do according to google. I've fished most my life on lakes for bass, crappie and catfish and some inshore coastal fishing for specks, reds and flounder but this was my first time fishing through a hole in the ice and we had a blast. George put us right on the trout and Arctic char and had a nice insulated hut, with a heater, for us to fish in. I spent a wonderful Friday morning on the shores of Dillon Reservoir. My goal was to learn more about fly fishing and the Dillon Reservoir and that I did. I started the day with a true Bucket-list fish: an Arctic Char on a fly rod, a fat ~14" beauty. The day could have ended and I would have gone home a happy man; however, the best was to come. we had a blast fishing with G. We kicked back and he taught us all he knew about fishing. the setup was awesome having multiple options for jigs and bait. He really knew his stuff. we caught about 12 fish but only kept 8. G cleaned thrm for us and even taught us how to cook them!
