Just wanted to say thanks to Michelle for the great advice on fishing locations and fly selection - much appreciated!

Fly fishing via half day wading option - inlet to Turquoise Lake near Leadville.

Update: did this again a year later... disappointing experience. Guides took us to the Blue River in the middle of Breck, which any tourist could walk to in 5 minutes. Not their fault the fish weren't biting but also it's not a great place for beginners with all the pedestrians and bushes/snags around. Beginners in the group felt like guides used a whole lot of jargon without explaining, and got mad when people didn't understand what they were saying. Given the cost, probably not doing this again.

Fishin and catching w Allan in the Colorado

My wife and I had a great time fishing with Allan. We did both waiting and floating on the Colorado. We did this on the last week of April which was not the ideal time. Waters were cloudy skies were a bit overcast and windy yet we both brought in quite a few brown and rainbows over those two days and had a great time I've been with these guys before in the past and would happily return

Had a full day winter float trip with Allen and it was an amazing experience. Cutthroat Anglers was very helpful in planning the trip and were prompt to answer all my questions. Allen, our guide, made the trip so enjoyable. Great personality, super knowledgeable about fly fishing and overall badass! Great experience for avid fly fishers or beginners. Cutthroat Anglers and our guide, Allen did all the planning and hard work while we just enjoyed our day out on the water. Will definitely be back again! Thank you!

Not only did we catch trout ALL DAY with his guidance, he taught us a lot of techniques and coached us through the mistakes we made. It was the perfect trip for getting started with this hobby. The week of our trip there was a lot of rain that effected some of the fishing locations but Sam was very communicative about finding the best spot for the rainy circumstances. He gave us a few different options of where we could fish and we ultimately went with his recommendation which was fishing the rivers in Silverthorne. We got even more out of it than expected. Thank you Trouts, and Sam for an amazing experience!

We are new to fly fishing and had only had a couple hours of instruction prior to this trip. We did have most of our own gear, but I needed waders and boots. They have a very good rental fleet of waders (Simms G3) and boots, so you weren't wearing cheap gear, which was nice. We met up with our guide Ryan first thing in the morning at the shop and decided to fish the Blue just north of Silverthorne and in town. We had a blast with Ryan! We were looking for more of an educational trip, as well as hoping to get on some fish. Ryan was great in explaining how to read the river and present the fly in the best way as well as different knot methods which we didn't know before. He didn't get into super technical casting methods, it was more about getting the fly where you wanted it and then presenting it so hopefully the fish would take it. You could tell Ryan was super passionate about fishing and helping people out. We had a blast. The best part of the day was that my wife caught her first fish ever and now she is really "hooked". I can't thank Ryan and the other shop guys enough for a great day.

Their strength is clearly in their really nice assortment of traditional fishing supplies and gear. In a time of the worst global pandemic in +100 years, these owners were not only NOT wearing masks - including the elderly woman behind the register. Once she saw my driver's license, the FIRST question she asked me was 'Is the City of Austin really defunding the police?' - and did so in a very condescending tone BTW. While she was inputting my information, she then felt compelled to give me grief about me wearing a mask by stating 'Masks are just the latest fashion statement'. I proceeded to explain to her that 'I am actually ONLY wearing this uncomfortable piece of cloth TO PROTECT HER (since my son was recently exposed) - and I am unsure of my own status'. Before the transaction was done, she proceeded to tell me all of her conspiracy theories of how 1.) 'masks are BAD', 2.) 'the virus death rate is not as bad as reported - or 'there would be bodies lining the streets'', 3.) 'COVID-19 is a government conspiracy and government over reach', and 4.) 'the Governor of S. Dakota is the Best Governor in the U.S. The TV blaring Fox News propaganda in the next room explained it all = the whole experience was very off-putting. If you can withstand getting a right-wing extremist-conspiracy-laden sermon from the owner, then you might be OK shopping here. If not, avoid this place - since they can't seem to stick to talking about fishing and leave their politics out of it.
