In hindsight, bottom line: All things considered, in my opinion, you pay for a Ferrari and get a BMW. The price for what you get is egregiously overpriced even when accounting for how expensive the Vail Valley is these days. I recommend this experience if you are ultra wealthy to the point where cost/value ratio means nothing to you. I don't recommend this trip of you appreciate the concept of value in any way. There is a way to get the same experience with better accommodations for MUCH less: 1. For almost 50% less, stay at the 4 Eagle Ranch down the road for meals and lodging: VERY unique remote glamping experience with classy yet low key tent bar/restaurant on the hillside. The drive to most places where you put in boats on the river are 30 to 40 minute drive so very close to the Vail area and convenient. A recent trip with " Matt " was one of the best I've had in which we had both experienced and beginners in our crew and Matt catered to every level as we went down the river and provided great river training skills and even acted as "photographer" for the trip . On June 26, 2026 I went in to get some leader and tippet. There was a customer with his two…read moreteenage daughters getting outfitted for a guided trip by the two nice men on the front step. The customer was inside and asking questions the old gray haired shop worker hadn't answered. The customer asked question after question because the old man hadn't explained the trip well. The old man then started barking orders at the guides who were already helping the daughters with exactly what he was barking about. I moved over the leaders and tippets and saw the prices were 20% higher than any shop I'd been in on the I-70 corridor. The old man then came in and told me, "I'm kicking you out." I was the only one in the shop. I said, "Kicking me out?" The old man replied, "Yeah, I'm too busy. You have to leave." I didn't argue and left. After walking out, the old man closed the door and then began barking more orders again. Micromanaging the situation. I have never been treated like this in any fly shop in my 35 years of fishing. I will never shop there again, nor recommend anyone shop there. Customer service is nonexistant and the old man, pictured in the post is rude and unprofessional.

I first signed up just myself and my 8 year old for yesterday, then looked to see if my 4 year old could go, which they advertise as young as 2 year olds can go. What!? She laughed the entire time, did the entire course (tandem with me) and she even did the canyon plunge (optional) with little hesitancy and was grinning ear to ear. Upon arrival we were met with a not so warm welcome from a man who claimed he was "closing for the day" he continued to interrogate us asking "who did we speak to" and "I've been here all day and no one called". I showed him the confirmation email showing it was paid for and confirmed at 11:00 am and he proceeded to say "well atleast I'm off for the next 2 days" and "well let's go because the sooner yall are done the sooner I can leave". We felt very awkward and unwelcomed but after driving an hour we were determined to have a good time. We did a self guided tour and before leaving we were handed a map and told we couldn't go up into mountains or on about 50% of the trails which we were not told before booking. We made the most of our 2 hours on flat land and were not able to find the waterfall. We got back and told him we were not able to find the waterfall looking for some clarification, but he could not have cared less and just told us to put our helmets back inside and leave. I understand wanting to leave for the day but when you work for tourists you should appreciate their business especially when you charge a lot for not even being able to go up in the mountains! Will not be recommending this place in the future.
