2023 Update I continue to love this shop and it's staff. They are always happy to assist with fishing locations, fly selections, or just to talk about your day on the water. For years my "go to" shop was Breckenridge Outfitters but after several less than ideal experiences (staff more interested in chatting amongst themselves than helping customers, poor location advice, etc.) I've stopped heading there and only shop The Colorado Angler. In both 2022 and 2023 I received fishing location advice which put me "on the fish" immediately without any attempt to sell me on a guided trip. I want to give a shout out to The Colorado Angler in Silverthorne. I broke my rod tip and was devastated since repair services for redington have been suspended due to COVID-19. I thought I was going to have to wait weeks until I can get a repair. I was even debating on getting a new rod. I went on some of my fishing groups in search of some help and Andrew from The Colorado Angler messaged me about possibly being able to fix my rod. I met him outside the shop, he took the rod and within minutes he came back with my fixed tip and an extremely generous discount. What a great shop! Wonderful customer service and well stocked. I needed new waders, and the Simms customer service advised me what size, but suggested I try a pair on before I bought them. This was the only shop that had a complete run of women's sizes! So we drove from Jefferson/Como and it was worth the trip. Colin was helpful with finding waders that fit. We went back to this shop two weeks later to have backing put on a reel, which John gladly did, even though we did not purchase the reel there. They are friendly and knowledgable. read more

Our adult sons were in visiting from CA and we were looking for a creative way to spend the July 4th holiday. We booked a half day fly fishing tour and had a wonderful time with Mike and John. We met at the shop, purchased our fishing licenses and headed out to the the river. After a brief lesson on the shore, we moved into the river to really learn how to cast and fish. It was a gorgeous day and our guides made sure we had a great time. When the deer flies got aggressive (we are in nature after all), they were there with more bug spray. John and Mike gave individual attention to all four of use and it was clear they really wanted us to catch fish and enjoy the whole fly fishing experience. We can't wait to try it again! read more

These guys are the best! They are the originals who established fly-fishing in Summit County over 20 years ago. My father, brothers and I drifted the Colorado for 2 days with Hagan, Mike and Ryan. They were fantastic and we had a great time. Hagan is the best guide I have ever used in Colorado. His ability to read water, anticipate strikes and manage his drift boat are simply remarkable.
