My teenage son and I had a terrific experience on a 3-hour fishing excursion with Big Ed''s. Our guide, Kyle, was outstanding: engaging, informative, highly knowledgeable about fishing and the lake, kind and patient. Although we didn't catch as much as we hoped, Kyle made this a truly memorable experience for the two of us. When your gamer son says "I know we only caught three fish, but this was a great time!" you know it was a success! We made reservations only a couple days prior by calling their office line. Nicole quickly made the reservation and provided all of the basic info needed to prepare for the trip. Within minutes I had a text with trip details: where to meet, when, tips on what to wear and how to get a fishing license. A very good and efficient reservation experience. We fished on a partially covered pontoon. This was my first experience trolling. Such a different experience from fly fishing. I loved our two fly fishing experiences; I found it to be highly meditative. But this was equally enjoyable. Riding around the lake, seeing different views of the beautiful scenery was quite enjoyable. We encountered some inclement weather, but that didn't deter Kyle. He brought us back to the dock where we fished for char. My son caught a rather large one! And we got to watch a heavy rain pass distant mountains, a beautiful site. The clouds passed and Kyle had us back on the lake where I caught a trout. All in all a wonderful afternoon down with my son and Kyle. We'll be back again!

This one such an experience! Big Ed's came highly recommended and lived up to our expectations! We were picked up from our hotel so we didn't have to drive ourselves. Then we were taken to the lake where we met with our amazing guide. Such a patient and great person. He took us down to the lake where he had 3 fishing poles set up for us, a tent and heater in case we got cold, and chairs. He set up 1 automatic and 3 regular fishing poles for us. He gave us a very detailed overview on how everything worked and stayed close by in case we caught any trout, which we caught 3! We could have kept them but we decided to release them. He would drill new holes every few minutes and let us move around to different ones when we didn't have any movement going on. We were also allowed to take snacks and alcohol. I never thought I would enjoy ice fishing so much!

This was a great time! I booked it on a whim just to get out of the house and do something differennt. We got lucky and had a perfect winter day that was super sunny. There was no need for the warming huts so we got plenty of sun and fresh air. Our guide Kyle was very chill and patient while teaching us, but also clearly passionate about fishing. In the 3 hours we caught 8 or 9 fish. Kyle would have cleaned them if we wanted, but we chose to throw them back. We were a bit late because of traffic but Kyle stayed a little extra so we could enjoy some more time on the lake. He also taught us how to drill our own holes in the ice so we could pick out new spots to fish. They have all the special gear, bait, etc. which makes it super easy and so fun!

Went with my family early June and they loved it. Got a sunset cruise on the lake and caught some nice browns, rainbows, and salmon. Had so much fun went again this week with friends from college! Always have caught fish which isn't a guarantee but if any charter can it's these guys Had so much fun on the boat when my cousin came out we booked an ice fishing venture. 30+ fish and all smiles! Definitely recommend big Ed's on the ice!

For my brother's bachelor party we wanted to try snowboarding and ice fishing for the first time. We were skeptical at the idea of fishing in the cold but this experience was one of the best parts of our trip! Andrew is probably the best guide that one can ask for. He took care of everything from equipment, to training, making sure we're comfortable and was a cool guy to hang out and have a good time with. With Andrew's tips, we reeled in plenty to feed 6 grown men and couldn't be happier. (We even caught the rare artic char but had to send it back since it was too small) I highly recommend booking a tour here and would definitely come back whenever we return to Colorado!

This was the perfect day. Scott was the perfect Boat Captain. My 5 buddies and I caught over 70 rainbow trout and Scott kept taking us right to where the trout were. Absolutely great boat, great company, great pricing and great people w/ Captain Scott & Nicole running the business.

We went out today with Scott and the trip did not disappoint! There were 4 of us ranging from age 46 to 6 and we all had a great time. He kept us warm on this exceptionally cold day and made sure to kept the whole group engaged.

Great morning of ice fishing today! We bought the trip on groupon at an extra discount. Well worth it for the first time doing ice fishing. George was our guide, we were booked in for the 9.30am tour and were instructed to meet at his house at 9.15am which was conveniently right next to the lake. Tip: when giving big ed's a contact number, use one that will have signal in Dillion - not a T-mobile number. George had tried to call me but I never got it. Not sure why he was calling but we were there on time after a coffee at the place right around the corner (see my review for the pour house) We pulled up at his house and he gave us a waiver form to fill out, told us that the car in front was filling out theirs too and that the lake is a street over, next thing you know he's getting in his car and driving away, so like good little people we just followed. When we arrived he told us that there was another two people already on the ice and that we would share the tent with them. It's 4 people to a tent and the other car that was in front of us had 4 people in it so they shared a tent. The tents were great, inside was 4 camping chairs and 4 ice holes maybe 8 inches round. He set us up, explained the technique and off we went. He was very knowledgeable and hands on, checked on us regularly and made sure we were all doing well. It was such a beautiful day that he drilled a few extra holes outside and we moved out to fish in the sun. We fished till about 12.30pm (3 hours, same as what we were told by the shop when we rang to book), he'd started packing up the things people weren't using prior to us finishing because there was no afternoon tour today. The fish were biting but not very active today. I caught a tiny one and so did a few other people. I asked George about the fish but he said that there's a million different reasons why they might not be active today.

Fresh roe right from the source!

This was one of the most fun activities I have ever done. Dress in layers and you will be golden for this lovely, icy adventure. I went with my boyfriend right before traveling to the airport - three amazing hours learning about ice fishing and catching wild salmon! Our guide Andrew was incredibly knowledgeable, good-spirited, and put us at ease on the ice. Would recommend 10/10 to a friend and will definitely be going back the next time we are in Colorado.

Liquid Descent - Hank raft guide was the best

I've rafted with Liquid Descent multiple times, and every single trip has been a 5-star experience!…read moreThe guides are not only experts at keeping you safe, but they also make sure you have an unforgettable time on the river. This year, I went early season on Clear Creek and loved it so much I came back late season for Gore Canyon- an adrenaline-packed, fun adventure! The day started with a swim test to make sure everyone was prepared before tackling Class V rapids. (Honestly, if you're not a strong swimmer, this trip isn't for you, they do test your swimming in the rapids and throughout the trip over half of the people across our 5 rafts ended up in the water at some point! Additionally this would be quite the dive into the deep end if you've never rafted before!) The trip was an incredible mix of thrills, skill, and crazy beautiful scenery you would not have guessed was there when you drive into Kremmling. Midway through, we stopped for snacks, and when we wrapped up, the crew served a delicious lunch and cold beers (NA options were there too!) such a nice touch after a big day! What sets Liquid Descent apart is the crew. Every guide I've had has been dedicated to making the trip special. I've talked to them and many of them have said they specifically choose to work here because of the company's extra training and the sense of community. I even met the owner yesterday at Gore Canyon, and you can tell the company's passion for customer experience comes directly from the top. Specifically the last 2 guides I've had, Jordan and Malia have been awesome! Yes, most rafting companies use the same put-in/take-out points and similar gear but the experience is what makes the difference. With Liquid Descent, the guides make sure it's the best it can be and their love for their job ensures you're going to have a great time. I've rafted with other companies in locations where liquid descent isnt and know: the right guide changes everything. If you're looking for an unforgettable rafting trip in Colorado, Liquid Descent is the company to go with!

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Liquid Descent. My daughter and I signed…read moreup for the beginner rafting trip... and while she was excited... I was terrified. I was so nervous walking in, but from the moment we arrived, every single staff member made us feel welcomed, safe, and supported. Our guide, Koa, was the perfect balance of fun, kind, and incredibly skilled. He guided us through the rapids with such confidence and ease while also making sure everyone felt safe and included. He checked in on us several times throughout and made sure we were having fun, asked us if we wanted to "spice it up" a bit or keep it mellow and just really let us know this was "our" trip and he's cater to what we wanted. I quickly found myself letting go of fear and enjoying the moment... something I didn't expect would happen. Koa's energy was contagious, and his calm, respectful nature made us feel like we were in the best hands possible. At one point on the river, another rafting company had a mishap and we had to pull over and wait for them to recover and get their riders back into the raft safely. Koa explained what had happened with total grace - no judgment, no gossip - just a calm and respectful explanation. He also spoke so kindly of his own coworkers and even the owner of Liquid Descent. You could tell he genuinely cares about the rafting community and takes pride in his work and LOVES his Liquid Descent family! Every employee we encountered was friendly, encouraging, and helpful - from getting us fitted with helmets and life jackets to cheering us on as we headed out. As someone who started out nervous, that kind of supportive vibe made a huge difference. They encouraged me, and they helped me push past my comfort zone in the best way possible. What a GREAT memory! We will remember this day not only for the thrill of the rapids, but for the kindness and heart of the people who guided us through it! If you are considering rafting in Colorado, go with Liquid Descent. I'm so glad we did!

When you arrive to…read moretheir store location it's about 30 minutes of admin stuff before you load the buses to head for the launch point. You fill out the wavier paperwork, get a speech from one of the workers, and go through the line to your life jacket and paddle. They also have shoes for rent if you need them. The bus ride to the launch point is about 30 minutes. The staff do their best to keep everyone entertained while your on the bus; telling jokes, telling you facts about landmarks, and the local area. When you get to the launch point it's about another 15 minutes before you get on your raft. They go through another 5-7 minute speech about the water, how to maneuver, and all the safety stuff (just in case crap goes wrong). Then they split you up into groups and you load the raft. We truly had a blast on the raft and I never felt like I was at risk of injury, or unsafe through the entire ride. From start to finish it was about a 2 hour trip; but it went by really fast. I could have rode the river for at least another 1-2 hours. It was super chill and some of the rough waters (class II and III) didn't last long but made the ride very exciting. We did stop for about 30 minutes at a point where you can jump off a cliff. There is a 25 foot cliff as well as a small jump spot for kids (my 4 year old jumped from the small spot). I did go up to the 25 foot jump (along with about 30 other people). Jumping was not a problem at all because you walk up to the edge and simply walk off for the jump. They don't give you anytime to look around, think, or get scared. 30 people jumped off in less than 7-8 minutes. It felt great!! The ride back to the main store was much shorter; about 15 minutes. Overall we had a great time and it was well worth it.

Be prepared to be paired up with other families who may talk your ear off and miss commands from the guide. That got a little frustrating since we were literally there to raft only. The scenery is gorgeous and they are accommodating. be prepared to pay extra for anything, of course, as per usual. they also ask for tips which is understandable, so be prepared for that. the bus ride out to the river is long and uncomfortable when sitting next to people you don't know. extroverts' dream come true, but again, if you don't like having your ear talked off, you may want to avoid.
