Loved this place. When you think of a diner you think of this place, but the menu is far more than usual diner fair. They offer gluten free, veggie options, and great healthy alternatives. But they got the usual diner fair too! I came in for breakfast and ordered the avo toast. It usually comes with eggs but I ordered it with salmon and it was sooo good! And filling!! The food is good, the service is super mediocre. So I had to split the difference and give them three stars, although honestly I'm leaning toward three and a half. I ordered: Buttermilk pancakes, added blueberries, with two eggs over easy and bacon (came with juice and coffee as part of breakfast special) The pancakes are pretty dense, and the blueberries had the texture of frozen that had been thawed out, so I wouldn't go that route again, but the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the bacon was nice and crisp with great flavor. The orange juice was very ... normal, although I appreciated my free refill, and I didn't order coffee. I'll go back again, especially knowing they have a great breakfast special option that ranges from $7.99-$9.99/meal, but it's not my favorite breakfast spot. read more

Easter morning breakfast was ok. Short staffed on servers. Turnaround time with lukewarm food (my Eggs Benedict was not hot and eggs were over cooked) was longer than expected but it was Easter. Your meals were competing with large takeout orders for at home Easter brunch. Server was overwhelmed and was overheard telling hostess seating others in his section he had too many tables to cover. When seated with silverware there were no napkins. We had to ask for them. Requested water which took awhile. Server ran out of straws. Said he would bring some. STAY AWAY. If I could give zero stars I would. So I had been traveling and was hungry so this place was opened at11:15pm. Stopped by for a breakfast. So older guy with the name tag of "Biscuit Boy" took my order at the counter. It was all downhill from there. Ordered sausage and eggs and a cup of coffee. After 15 minute I had to ask where my coffee was. I got some additive then. Then another 15 minute went by and where is my breakfast. Well it's sitting up under the lights. Apparently Biscuit Boy was too busy counting his tips for the night to provide any service. I had to walk up and ask the other kid if that was my breakfast. Now the food. The eggs were cold and the sausage was colder. And the potatoes were inedible, probably made first thing in the morning. Just bad bad bad. Do not eat here. I told Biscuit Boy not to serve those potatoes to anyone else put some money down and left. Will never be back. If you can't cook good food or provide service at this hour close earlier. STAY AWAY. I used to eat here all the time - at least once a week. Governor Northam lifted the mask mandate, but not here. Didn't have a mask and wouldn't serve me, not even an offer for a mask. Actually argued with me that the mask mandate was still in force. I understand that as a business you have the right to require a mask, even with the mandate lifted. I've lived around this area my whole life, and I've always had an exceptional experience at this Silver diner. Today was no different. Early Wednesday morning I was pleased to see a discounted menu for select items until 11 am. I went with the country griddle which comes with complementary coffee and juice of your liking. The country griddle was served to me with the gravy and the cheese on the side as requested, but try as I might, I ate it all anyway. Service was extremely quick and Maritza was a great server. This is the meet-up place for all my family reunion dinners, I have no idea why... I think it is because the service here is always great. All the employees are always so happy and helpful! The servers always go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and they make sure to always check up on you. When you leave the restaurant, you get a wave of goodbyes from the waiters, cooks,hostess,etc... It makes you feel so loved! The atmosphere is a retro diner theme that is consistent throughout the diner. There are little jukeboxes on the tables too! Now to the food... it isn't great, but it isn't so bad that I would stop eating. I've had their Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, Bacon Fries, and a Pasta dish with Chicken that I cannot remember the name of. It was all average, nothing I would crave randomly. I really wanted to give it another try so I ordered my meal to go tonight and it was def not worth $12.50 let alone my "complimentary meal on us" voucher. We generally go to a Silver Diner each time I'm in the DC area. This is a small chain. The booths have jukeboxes attached and the entire decor is dedicated to a 50's milkshake/hamburger shoppe feel. The food is pretty good / it's your standard diner fare breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served. I tend to go during lunch hours - this usually means a burger or a Rueben for me. The shakes and dessert are outstanding. I tend to lean towards the shakes - made with real Breyer's ice cream. For those of us who crave a mimosa with our Weekend breakfast - they have a full bar too. The service is usually on point - very efficient and friendly. This place does get crowded. The prices are very reasonable. It is a good place to bring your kids or a group of friends to hang out for the afternoon. read more

Not just your meatloaf and potatoes diner anymore, although they have that too. I've always loved Silver diner maybe because they were one of the only places I could order honey as a dipping sauce for my chicken tenders, but now that I love them even more. Why? Because they not only have the staple diner menu classics, but now they boast a farm to table menu, getting a lot of their veggies and eggs from local farms providing their more health-conscious customers with great options in appropriate portions. Today I got the chicken noodle soup with the half sandwich that was mozzarella and pesto. Not only was it nicely presented, but the sandwich tasted like something I would get from a deli and my hunger was perfectly satisfied with the portion for only $9.99! The menu is heavy with veggie options (meat eaters will be happy with the selection too). I accidentally ordered a vegan option and it didn't taste vegan - if you know what I mean. I had the roasted veggie sandwich and it was so good. Flavorful and full of red peppers, brussel sprouts, greens and other complimentary flavors. The perfect amount of food when paired with the side salad. The minute I saw goat cheese cheesecake on the menu, I knew I had to have it. And no regrets there. Wow, that cheesecake was awesome. I've only dined at Silver Diner a handful of times and I categorized it as another Denny's or IHOP style restaurant... but during my most recent visit, I noticed that they've spruced up their menu to the max! The boyfriend and I dined here for breakfast (FYI: it's served all day everyday) and were pleasantly surprised. They've jumped onto the "organic, fresh and locally grown" bandwagon to offer healthier dining options for both adults and children. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs and the boyfriend ordered the western omelet. The portions were huge, the food was above average, our service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were just right. We're definitely adding Silver Diner to our list of breakfast options, especially now that they've revamped their menu. read more

Oh yum! We decided to pay the Silver Diner another visit - only this time, I am abstaining from meat, dairy and eggs so my perspective was a little different. Nevertheless, there are still some great options; I went with the mango vegetarian stir fry and it was SUPER good; I would definitely have that meal again. Hubs had a patty melt again since he loved it last time, and once again, it did not dissapoint! We also found it interesting (but great) that the sandwiches are served not only with fries, but a vegan slaw (with cranberries) so you know I had to sneak a few bites of that in, too! My favorite dishes to date are the following: -Power Breakfast -Roasted Veg Salad -Roasted Veggies with Quinoa (usually comes with pasta but you can ask for quinioa) -Gluten free coconut pancakes - so tasty and delicious -Gluten free coconut french toast Other items friends have tried are: bison burger, vegetarian chili and some healthy chicken dishes.
