Forks & Spoons Hello guys first let me start off by saying, I love Silver Diner! I frequent a particular silver diner a lot they're not perfect , but they're trying to be. The food and service is great. It's clean. That DOES NOT HOLD TRUE FOR THE SPRINGFIELD LOCATION AT ALL! Many of the tables were still full of past guest dishes. Trust and know I'm not expecting perfection just at least care! I've worked in the food service as a busgirl/ waitress/cashier/ hostess, etc. Presentation is everything and it's more than food and atmosphere. It's a love for what you do and an attitude to TRY be the best! I sent a pic to the Silver Diner I usually go to and the manager was glad to accommodate my request for what my dish was supposed to be. I've been to this location a few times and I think the food is good and always came back for the service. Ahmad was my waiter who seem NOT want to be at work that day. Belittling his fellow employees in front of customers. Tossing thinks tonus on our table. Wanted us to pay the check before he went back inside to get me more water because he told us it was a long walk ‍. Lazy son of a biscuit. SMH. When I went to speak to the manager he began to argue with me while I'm telling our experience. Worst service I've ever had and I travel 3weeks a month and eat out daily during my travels. The old adage, "Never eat at an empty restaurant" applies here. The place was packed and that's a good sign. The first thing I noticed is that there were dozens of yellow-shirt clad employees to handle the abundance of customers. Our server, Lionell, is a rockstar - personable and quite attentive with a smooth Southern charm to him. I ordered two scrambled eggs and a Belgian waffle with a lemonade. My girl ordered eggs with avocado on toast with a vanilla shake. They source their eggs from the Amish and they were fresh and delicious while the avocado was perfectly soft and mouth-watering. The shake was a little thin for my liking but tasty. During our meal, one employee burst into song twice. "Biscuit Boy" was far too gleeful about his freshly-baked biscuits. At each table, there are old fashioned jukebox selectors. We needed to drown out the two loud "Chatty Cathy" ladies in the next booth, but after popping in two quarters, nothing played. Bummer. Thankful there was a breeze out (asphalt tends to retain heat) and was early enough before a number of folks started coming in. The foo never disappoints! For breakfast: avocado toast is excellent; for lunch or dinner on a cold day the chicken soup or chili warm you up; all of the bowls are delicious! This diner is like stepping back in time. From the mini jukebox at the table to the checkered floor. We arrived for breakfast and were seated upon arrival. Our waiter was attentive and matter of fact. We both ordered the Avocado Toast with salmon and one with eggs. They were delicious. They also offer a variety of mimosas, for the morning drinker. After a long drive up 95 we decided to stop at the Silver Diner for dinner. It's pretty simple...I asked for the English Muffins in my Eggs Benedict to be toasted crispy, and what I got was English Muffins that weren't even toasted. Our server and no other servers were around to let them know that there was a problem with my meal, so I started eating because I was hungry. When our server finally came by to ask how everything was, and I let her know that my meal was prepared incorrectly, the response I got was: "Sorry, I'll let the kitchen know that they didn't prepare it correctly." No offer to make it right. No visit from the manager...It was like they didn't care. WTH?! My family loves the Silver Diner, but it will be a while before we go back to one, as well as, a cold day in Hell before I go back to the one in Springfield!! read more

Ordered pick up on a Friday night. It seemed that 3 of 4 dishes had sat around and waited for the burger to cook because that was the only thing still warm. So French fries were not crispy at all, they were soggy. Steak sandwich was ok. Wings were nothing to be excited about. Chicken strips were pretty good for the kids taste. The pesto burger was def good and still warm so that helped. Decided it was Friday so I'm sure they were very busy so we decided to dine in on Sunday for my birthday and get some different dishes. Tried the cheese fries. Although the fries were crispy, the "cheese" fries were anything but. They just put shredded cheese w no taste on top and bake them. We were expecting like stretchy and/or liquid cheese. The ranch on the side was way too tangy. I got the braised beef eggs Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce had no flavor like I could literally taste nothing. The beef was good but didn't go well w this dish or anything else on the plate. Not sure why they added sweet potatoes to it. Included a huge portion of home fries that were ok. Cobb salad was the normal. Kids ordered salmon dish and spaghetti as meatballs. They are trying to make things like spaghetti healthy when spaghetti should just be spaghetti. Salmon dish was way above what any normal kid would eat. It sat on a bed of quinoa w edamame. My boys likes to try new things so he ate it but was a lil disappointed at the end. Service was decent. Not a lot of tables but we didn't see her often. Overall I don't thing we will be coming back. They are trying too hard to be healthy that the flavor is just not there. read more

As a famous villainous lion once said...Be Prepared! To wait, I mean. I had no idea that this place was such a hot spot but this is THE place to be seen in the Springfield brunch scene. I was here to celebrate my nephews third birthday and we were not disappointed. The menu has tons of options for our large group with different diet restrictions. Best of all, the kids love it (the salmon is a favorite among the kiddos). I'm more of a cheese fry girl myself and unfortunately it's become quite the Dodo bird on menus across the US but Silver Diner still serves them up hot and fresh here. You will waddle out with the humongous portions but you can fee somewhat good about yourself since the restaurant tries to source local ingredients as much as possible. read more

I love Silver Diner! Have for years! I tried their new delivery service during COVID-19 to get food delivered to friends who were stuck inside. They were very responsive and called me as soon as I submitted my order, letting me know that some of the food I had ordered was out of stock. My only complaint was a systems issue--they were only able to remove that item from my order, they weren't able to change my order to something with a different price point and refund the difference. Ultimately not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination, but it would be a nice feature to have as they continue to expand their online ordering system. read more

He was so pleasant, recommended the steak for my husband with a few tweaks and my husband love it! I haven't been here in a while, so decided to try it again. My server, Brayton, was attentive and friendly. I ordered the flatiron steak rare. Most places, when I say rare, give me at best medium well. Silver diner got it right, and it was just like I wanted. The spinach side was very good. The mashed potatoes were okay, nothing great but certainly not bad. The salad that came with the meal was the usual diner salad. Adequate, but they put it in a tiny bowl that makes it impossible to mix in dressing without salad bits falling out. I asked for a recommendation for dessert and Brayton recommended the apple pie. Or if you want a little more than a shake, get the brownie ala mode! It hit the spot and was a perfect size for sharing, or not. Add a side of fries to your ice cream craving---it's like the cherry on top. Customer service was on point. I saw the burger and makes me want to go back next time I have a massive craving for one. What a gem! We ended up here one morning after staying out late the night before and this diner hit the spot! When we first arrived the line was out the door so we got discouraged but do not worry! The line moves super quick. We were seated in 10-15 minutes. What I appreciate about this diner is all their health conscious options. It's not just your typical diner with greasy fat food (although if you want that, they have it too lol). I ordered their just eggs Benedict and loved it. I liked the tomato on it, it added a nice touch. Others at the table ordered their fried steak and were obsessed with it. Honestly everything on the menu looked great. So it's Mother's Day and I ordered breakfast at about 9:30 am. It's 11:58 am now and I haven't received a morsel. I also haven't received a refund from Doordash. Did I mention they're not answering their phone and Doordash can't track my order because the site page is down? It was supposed to be here at 10:13 am. So I read some if the previous reviews. Even though a place may be reviewed negatively by one person it can be any variable that day: a different cook, a specific server, etc. The day my friend and I went the food was amazing. I typically like the old school diner menu that is massive because I like having options. Especially since I tend to eat pescatarian. My kids also enjoyed their breakfast. I'm not much for home fries, but my son is. So instead of substituting it, I give them to him. However they had options I could have substituted with. Food came out fairly quickly and was cooked to order. Overall, we'll be there going there again. read more

I love coming coming here for a late breakfast/lunch or a late night dinner. It's really cute how there's a mini jukebox at every table. I had the Triple Decker Club with cole slaw and fries. It's one of my favorite club sandwiches in this area! My group ordered the Power breakfast (toast, turkey bacon, egg white, spinach, feta, mushroom, tomato, and a cup of fruit), and Hot cakes with home fries and turkey bacon. Quis was our server and he did an amazing job! Only minus one star because of the sticky glob of syrup that my sister stepped in under the table. Went yesterday for the first time since before the pandemic and sadly, I was greatly disappointed. Not necessarily in the food as that is always pretty good. But, with my server who was the worst ever. @yidenenkal S. was lifeless, no smile, no pep in her step. After sitting for some time after being seated, she appeared as I was looking to grab someone to take my order. She did not offer coffee nor water - I had to ask. She would disappear to only the Lord knows where! I had to get up and ask the expediter for my food which by now, the soup was lukewarm!! He also served the table behind me as that same server - was gone. She basically didn't show up until it was time to pay and for sure, was hoping for her tip. Being the "nice" person that I am - I always try to tip well - felt obliged to click the 15% as she was hovering over me. But, it was NOT earned and if she hadn't been eye-balling me, it would have been 0%! All the waiters were running around and being attentive to their customers. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but it sure has tarnished my desire to visit Silver Diner again. I'll add that the manager lady never made eye contact, never stopped to ask how things were, etc. as she was too busy chatting and chatting with people that she evidently knew. Haven't been here in a while so since I was in town and wanted to have breakfast I stopped by here. They have revamped the menu with new items. Tried the banana stuffed French toast. This is the first time I have ever seen a meal come out exactly like it looks in the menu. Kudos on that! The young man Sanam was an excellent server! Taste was what I expect from a diner though. I ordered: Buttermilk pancakes, added blueberries, with two eggs over easy and bacon (came with juice and coffee as part of breakfast special) The pancakes are pretty dense, and the blueberries had the texture of frozen that had been thawed out, so I wouldn't go that route again, but the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the bacon was nice and crisp with great flavor. The orange juice was very ... normal, although I appreciated my free refill, and I didn't order coffee. I'll go back again, especially knowing they have a great breakfast special option that ranges from $7.99-$9.99/meal, but it's not my favorite breakfast spot. read more

Loved this place. When you think of a diner you think of this place, but the menu is far more than usual diner fair. They offer gluten free, veggie options, and great healthy alternatives. But they got the usual diner fair too! I came in for breakfast and ordered the avo toast. It usually comes with eggs but I ordered it with salmon and it was sooo good! And filling!! Service could be a bit more attentive but people were friendly non the less. Will def. be back again! read more
