A lot of restaurants don't hold themselves to that basic standard. Our waitress Victoria was super sweet, made some good suggestions on what to order, and was around for the refills. There are a variety of options from healthy to classic. We came for breakfast and both got pancakes with bacon and eggs for $9.99. Good food at a reasonable price. The restaurant is heavy into its 50s decor and they have little jukeboxes at each table and a variety of old songs to play for a quarter each. It's a diner, but a good diner for what it is. It's a fun theme, good service, and decent prices. It's not like you can expect 5 star cuisine, but it's just a lot of hearty comfort food and a great price. read more

I got the Bison Huevos Rancheros and while they were pretty good, there wasn't much substance and I was left feeling hungry 2 hours later. The prices seem to have gone up since I last went but they always have a good crowd. It's a chain and we got what we expected from that type of restaurant. Stick to your standard breakfast fare and you'll probably be fine. Overall, you could do better, however you could also do worse. read more

I have become a raving fan of The Silver Diner. This is not your Father's diner experience. The menu is modern and offers numerous healthy eating options including gluten-free, vegetarian, and low fat -- for breakfast lunch and dinner. The avocado toast is amazing. Tonight I had the cod dinner with quinoa (when is the last time you saw quinoa on a diner menu?) and asparagus and it was amazing. The fish was fresh, cooked to perfection, and beautifully presented on a bed of quinoa with roasted tomatoes and grilled asparagus. The meal was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly -- the experience was comparable to a high end restaurant without the inflated price. I never write yelp reviews but today the manager told me it would make a server shine. I had a great experience coming to Silver Diner because of my server, Ahmed, it was his 3rd day at work and he did a wonderful job, he had great conversation skills, a very kind demeanor and was always attentive to our needs. Throughout my meal I would've guessed he was a very experienced worker with years of working, he had great suggestions for our mimosas and our meal, he always brought refills without us asking and made us feel very welcome. What really shocked me was how he purposefully waited until a second after we tipped to tell us he was new, saying he didn't want him being new to influence his tips, I was so shocked that I had to stand up immediately and ask to speak to his manager to tell her about him! From my previous times here, I expected nothing more than above average service at best, but I instead got wonderful service and left with a smile. 10/10! read more

We were first time there on Friday night. They messed up our order ticket. We had been waiting there for 30 minutes then the waitress came in and said food was not made due the system crashed. But a minute later they brought food to the next table whose customers came in after us. We had to wait 15 more minutes to have our food delivered. We still had to pay the full bill and also the waitress suggested on the credit card reader 25%....why would I tip that much for a bad experience? However I still gave her 20% tip. My family and I planned to celebrate my nephew's 8th birthday by having breakfast before hitting to road and heading back to Rochester. Knowing that there are tons of restaurants to choose from in the DMV, I decided to narrow my search down to Springfield. When my brother mentioned Silver Diner, it was an automatic yes, because I'd already researched and read through the reviews of my fellow Yelpers. All was in alignment with the universe... We arrived around noon on Sunday July 5th and the line for seating was through the door. The wait ended up being around 15 or 20 minutes. It moved at a steady pace and I was actually surprised to see how quickly and efficiently that the staff were able to accommodate such a large line of people. Their menu is amazing! They have a variety of vegetarian / gluten free options. They even had vegetarian sausage on the menu! I also loved how they had the calories listed beside each food item for those who are living a healthier lifestyle. Silver Diner also uses locally sourced food. Our party ordered a variety of different meals (some lunch and some breakfast) and we thoroughly enjoyed each one. I have posted photos of each. The icing on the cake was the manager named Jackie. She was celebrating her birthday on the same day as my nephew. She was so kind and generous. Jackie took special care to make sure that my nephew had the best birthday and even gave him a slice of birthday cake and a milkshake. The staff all came over to sing and celebrate. It was truly amazing and I'm grateful to have chosen Silver Diner to celebrate this special occasion. I love Silver Diner. I would give 3.5 stars if that was available. Pretty big menu here, so choosing what to eat could be a tough decision. Burgers, various chicken dishes, wraps, sandwiches, fish, and much more. I ended up getting the lamb meatball gyro, which was one of their seasonal items. The gyro had roasted red peppers, feta cheese, lettuce, lamb, tahini yogurt dressing, with a side of veggies. Veggies included cauliflower, carrots, etc. Although the gyro had fresh ingredients and was tasty, it was quite small. I probably could have ate 3 of this gyros.The size of the gyro definitely decreases the rating some. I'm a grown man and need to eat! For dessert, I had the apple pie a la mode which was terrific. The hot apple pie with the vanilla ice cream was done right and presented nicely. Service was okay. When I asked the waiter about the gyro, he said it was good, but didn't have too strong of an opinion on it. Perhaps I should have asked about the size of the gyro. For dessert, we asked him what the Smith Island Cake is. He stated that it has layers and chocolate, but seemed a little confused himself. Apple pie a la mode took quite some time to come out, but luckily we weren't in a rush. This place has an old time diner feel to it. Booths all around with cushioned seats, which was comfortable. This place is awesome, yet not what I expected. Me and the fam stopped here on a whim looking to try something new. We were expecting to walk out 10lbs heavier with greasy hamburgers, fries, and milk shakes to go. WELL, this is not the place for that. This diner is presented as an old school diner café (with the lil juke boxes at each table) but is full of healthy food. The menu is MASSIVE! Me and the wife took 15min going through all of it and trying to decide what to get. Every page of the menu looked and sounded amazing. I finally had to ask the waiter what he suggested. I got the Bison plate, and it was great! The Bison plate was full of flavor and all kinds of veggies and extra toppings. The presentation of all the plates was very nice and really added to the quality of the food and our experience. Our waiter (Jaime; I think that was his name) really helped push this place to FIVE stars. He was a younger guy, but was very well spoken and did a great job describing the history of the restaurant, where the food comes from, and the menu. You can mix and match all the food items, and plenty of Vegan, Gluten Free, and Vegetarian plates to choose from. Jaime engaged in a great conversation with us, and once he discovered we were new to the area he immediately began the up-sale! He was not pushy about it at all. The whole family got signed up for birthday notifications, and their rewards program. He even mentioned the Tuesday night kids event. Came here for Administration appreciation for the office for breakfast. Asked for a table to seat 16 for the size of our office. The wait for the table didn't take anything more than 8 minutes. The server was very polite and efficient. To my knowledge she didn't get anyone's order wrong. I ordered the philly steak omelet. It came with home fries. It was average, kind of bland. Coffee was average, like any regular hot coffee you get. If I were to come back, it would be more for the service than the food itself. But that's more of a personal preference.
