My wife are visiting family in Richmond. and decided to try the Silver diner . The restaurants is a classic 1950's style , friendly servers. jukeboxes at every. booth. The food was good but not great . My wife ordered oat milk pancakes I had regular pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The bacon was very disappointing fatty and small strips. The coffee was OK but not great. breakfast for two was $45 not including the tip we gave our server 20% because she was very nice. I would rate this breakfast a five versus Cracker Barrel at a nine. Go to Cracker Barrel it's close by instead of this diner unless you want a 60s experience. read more

This is my husbands first choice for breakfast whenever it's his turn to choose. We frequent silver diner during the summer months. It's definitely your picturesque diner style of restaurant. From the jukeboxes, bar areas and decor. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and you can usually get seated pretty quickly because it's twice the size of a typical diner. I enjoy the freshness of the food. The farm to table/ organic aspects makes it a very healthy place to eat! My go to dishes are the corned beef hash with eggs on the side or the avocado toast with bacon on the side and a mimosa of course! The avocado toast is probably one of the best in Richmond. It's very fresh and they give you more than enough! My husband loves their French toast, sausage and eggs! He's tasted every version of French toast on their menu! Sometimes it's amazing. It's a little bit expensive though for example, if you wanna order a nice appetizer brussels sprouts usually around $14 and All usually end up spending on my meal alone about $35 before tax and tip which is not really a diner style situation however the food is amazing, and sometimes they do vegetarian options. I just wish they would lower their prices to make it more competitive. read more

What a surprising place! Located nearby many hotels and shops, this place was not my first choice... but ended up being delicious! What brought us here was the extensive kids menu. Kids always get the short end of the menu stick with nothing but chicken tenders and mac n cheese. This place does a kid menu the right way - lots of options that include entrees like roasted chicken pot pie and lamb meatballs. Hallelujah for an eatery that caters to kids who eat more than chicken nuggets and pizza. Thankfully the adult food did not disappoint. There are SO MANY OPTIONS on the menu... breakfast, lunch, dinner, gluten free, vegetarian, cauliflower sandwiches, the list goes on. After searching for brunch places to treat my mother and sister at while we were back home visiting, I chose Silver Diner for its proximity to our hotel. There is outdoor seating, but it is not a designated area so much as a tent in the parking lot. I am not picky plus it was a gorgeous day, but I guess others are as we were the only ones sitting outside. In light of where we were sitting and the volume of people in the restaurant, our server Ayahna (my apology for misspelling), did an amazing job! She was attentive, knew the menu, and did the best to make us comfortable. I had the beyond meat breakfast tacos. The BBQ sauce is a little sweet, but these were fantastic and filling. Two words come to mind when I think about my dining experience at the SD; unique and exceptional. The place is spotlessly clean and my server was very attentive and gave me some input reagarding my dinner selections. I started my meal with a cup of really flavorful corn and crab soup, one peev I have is that my soup has to come out hot, not tepid, this soup was hot and delicious. I chose one of the specials, a strip steak with sauté fresh spinach and mashed potatoes. Everthing on the plate was perfect, the steak cooked to order, the spinach was the best i've ever had in a restaurant and the potatoes were really good. The diners owner has put a lot of thought into this restaurant and which hi lights his farm to table vision. The menu has a lot of healthy options as well as some very interesting out of the ordenary choices. Our last hours in Richmond, Virginia and I needed to feed my boys after a long drive from Blacksburg. We landed at this place thanks to a Google search. The restaurant has plenty of parking and soon as you drive up, you turn into Marty McFly with the 50s set up. When we walked in the lack of energy zapped up with the hostess, "why are you here" face. We sat in a booth with a jukebox. The jukebox actually works and you play songs for free in the diner. Our server arrived with a positive attitude and took our order. The place had TV's all over and very clean. One monkey had a cheeseburger for breakfast, the other pancakes and eggs, while I had the Philly Steak omelet. The cheeseburger was small for the price. The pancakes were big yet pretty plain tasting. The omelet was truly non-eventful. The meat was plain no seasoning. My food was warm and I do give the thumbs up to the salsa which brought out some flavor. When I got the check for $59, I felt like Marty as Biff hits him saying "Ah, Hello McFly!" I think this is a 2.5 for me. We went today for my daughter's birthday, because she got to choose. She enjoyed her kids chocolate chip pancakes, egg, fruit, and milk ($6) Hers may have been the best overall meal. She also likes getting a button for her lanyard. We hadn't registered her card, so we weren't able to get her free bday meal. That's okay, but it would have been nice for the server to wish her a happy birthday or make her feel special. My teen daughter got a burger with fries ($10). I know they try to be healthier and fancy, so I'm not quite sure if it was just regular beef, which we wanted. Unfortunately, she didn't like it and mostly ate fries and some of my bacon. I opted for ala cart items - egg, bacon, bagel. It was all fine. One of my favorite parts of breakfast out is good coffee. Unfortunately, I didn't love their coffee. It has the slightly burnt flavor of French roast. My husband had chicken and pecan waffle ($14). It was okay. I didn't care for the sauce that comes with it. It just doesn't compare to the chicken and waffle at Metro Diner or even Ray's Other Place. My biggest gripe with this SD is it trying to be overly foodie and not just a great diner. My daughter loves spaghetti and meatballs, but does not want quinoa pasta and lamb meatballs. Came here with my fiancé and I haven't been here in years. About three years ago, the food here was not that good. This time though, the food was very impressive. I got the country fried steak and eggs, and the lady got scrambled eggs with cheese and hash browns. We also shared some blueberry pancakes. Everything tasted really great and was hot and fresh. I also don't think I've really had a problem with the service here in the past, but our server was great. I'm so glad this place got its act together because the music and ambiance here is really something unique to short pump. I was in the mood for something on the lighter side and my date was extremely particular so we had to make sure wherever we went they could accommodate us both. They have such an extensive menu we had plenty to choose from. The staff was so pleasant. Matt was our waiter and he was extremely gracious. Our food was sooo good and tasty.
