We came here for my son's birthday. I ordered the rare beef and well done flank steak pho. Very generous portion, as pho generally is. Veggies were fresh. It was pretty good, I have no particular complaints about the broth, but I have had better (I miss Saigon 88 in Sparks! That was THE best.) It was nice that they had a large menu, with opinionated kids. One son had the chicken noodle pho, he liked it, and there were several other vegetables in the soup like broccoli. It must have been seasoned well because he ate it without a single complaint. The other son had lemon chicken. There was no kid's menu or smaller portion, so it was quite huge for a kid, at least it reheats well. Overall the whole meal was reasonably priced and everyone was happy, we will be back. read more

This is my go-to place when I want a quick, hot meal. I always order the same thing (Pho #2 and a spring roll) so I can't speak to a lot of the menu, but I love these two items. Worth a try! Our party of four each ordered something different, and nothing disappointed. The tofu pho was excellent, the fried rice and pad Thai, the beef short ribs and orange beef... When I order take out my food is always ready for me when I arrive, there is no waiting. I always order rare steak pho and find it to be perfect every time. I am college student so I am on a budget. Absolutely terrible customer service. I called and ordered chicken pho for pick up. I did not receive any chicken in my order. The vegetables that were included had two pieces of broccoli and three carrots. I called to have this corrected and they refused any attempt to reconcile the order and then hung up on me. We eat at silver Chopsticks all the time and the food is always good. Each time we go we try to get something new. However if you're looking for some good items that are prepared well here's a list of a few. House fried rice, lo mein Hong Kong style, orange beef, lettuce wraps, kung pao shrimp, moo shu pork, Mongolian beef are all great choices. One of the better Chinese joints I've tried. They don't use MSG which is a must for any place I eat. I've tried lots of dishes and I liked them all for the most part. I rated this place a high three stars, almost four, shortly after it opened, but I think it's gone downhill. I had a Vietnamese noodle bowl last night that I've had two or three times before, and it was completely different--a couple of cups of plain noodles, slightly undercooked, some decent shrimp, but a tiny amount of barbecued pork and a few shreds of lettuce, less than a quarter-cup. The sauce to pour over it was almost flavorless--I can't really put a finger on what it needed, but it didn't add anything to the dish. This is pretty much my standard order on my first visit to Asian restaurants, and I've had it all over town. It's better elsewhere. We'll probably give this place another try because it's close to home, but it's not going on the A list. read more

This place is always good. I always try hot and sour soup any where it is available, and so far in Reno, silver chopsticks has my favorite hot and sour soup. It's slightly tangy, with a little bit of kick to it and a whoole lot of flavor! I also like the fact that they don't put any weird stuff in their hot and sour, some places add stuff like weird chicken pieces and other unidentifiable ingredients, not so with these guys. Well, as for their pho, it's great, the broth is flavorful and the ingredients are fresh. I have tried their pad Thai as well and I always enjoy it. Their prices are very reasonable as well, I always end up thinking wow I got all that food for just that small amount? It makes it even more enjoyable, some places you don't even get very good tasting food and end up feeling like you get ripped off, this is not the case with silver chopsticks. And on top of allll that, their service is excellent, always seated and greeted very promptly, food is quick, I get checked on through out the meal to ensure the food is good, couldn't really ask for more. read more

We decided to drop by to grab a quick bite before heading home. Ordered the pho ga (aka Vietnamese chicken noodle). When it came out, all I could think of was what the heck is this?! It didn't look like the traditional "pho". There were carrots, snow peas, broccoli, and a few pieces of chicken. The noodle was hard and chewy. The soup was bland. It was a sad piece of shit. I've yet to visit here and not enjoy my meal. I absolutely love the lemon chicken, whatever sauce they use is unbelievably tangy. The pho is fine, albeit I've enjoyed it more at other places in Reno. I would like to see a size option, as sometimes ordering a large pho is a little much. Fortunately, the staff is generally great about transferring your foods (soup or solids) to to-go boxes in the likely chance you don't finish everything. A common misconception many people have is that servers will take your check from the table when you are done. While I have had this occur a few times, generally I take the check up myself because there is a chance you will sit for quite a while before they will actually take it on their own. Not a big deal, just be aware or you'll potentially be sitting for a while. The service has always been exemplary, prices fair, and the tables and dishes have been clean. I think that the change from Pho 21 to Silver Chopsticks has been a fantastic change. read more

Only been there once before tonight. Food was ok but noting special. My wife asked several times that her entree be made spicy. Ordered take out and when she got home it wasn't spicy. Called and asked why and was told there wasn't much they could do about it. Then added that she could bring the plate back and if she hadn't eaten any they could remake the dish or add spice and re-stir fry. They would not give her a credit for our next visit which was disappointing. Normally not a big deal to waste the time and gas to go back out but our girls have school in the a.m. and it definitely would have caused an inconvenience. I called and asked to speak to the manager and was told he was too busy. The woman I spoke to was very apologetic and sounded sincere in wishing there was something she could do. She also explained that they've had problems with customers trying to get free food by lying although she didn't imply that's what we were doing. In my opinion, being a business owner myself, I don't think this is a very good way to start out. Word of mouth travels fast especially crappy service. I don't think I'm being nitpicky or harsh, there are several other choices when it comes to eating out and spending hard earned money. Next time I'll be sure to take my money and business somewhere management understands the importance of satisfying the customers needs and making us WANT to come back. My friends and I show up at about 8:20 we place out order and grab some beer as well and they literally turns off the lights and had out food in a box to go when we didn't even ask or were asked for it to go!!! Great food at reasonable prices. My system knows when restaurants use too much msg and seems they don't use much or any at all. Have had many items off the menu and was satisfied with them all. Sigh, where to begin... The crab cheese puffs(Rangoon to the rest of the world) were acceptable, Other than the fact that I could not detect ANY crab! Ordered the short ribs after asking the waiter if they were good, he replied oh, yes! The short ribs were little squiggly grisly chewy pieces of meat that refused to detach from the bone. Beef chewing gum is more like it! Decided to just get the sesame chicken, thinking That was safe. Nope. The chicken was sliced wafer thin, then tossed in the fryer. Looked like fried chicken skin. Zero chicken flavor. Just a pinch of sesame seeds sprinkled atop the overly sugary sauced skin looking chicken. There were three tiny broccoli florets as a garnish on the plate. Looked at one just before popping it in my mouth. Thank all that is good, I actually looked at it. It had a big nasty slimy piece of dirt in it. Showed the server and I heard yelling in the kitchen when she took it in. Very uncomfortable situation. Big thumbs down, won't be back. Scary! read more

A friend and I went with our kids at lunch time today. When we got there the people were a little rude but we let that go. Once we ordered it took 2 times to obtain hot water to hear up a water bottle. The server never checked on us to see if we bedded anything. And as we were packing up to leave the server told me to keep my daughter quite when all she did was fuss for less than 5s. All of this occurred while there was only 1 other table in the entire place. I don't normally choose Chinese food because it always leaves me feeling uncomfortable, bloated and overall not very good but my S.O. loves it and could eat Asian food every single night. This is where Silver Chopsticks enters the picture. I was yelping around for some decent Chinese food that I could stomach and also make my boyfriend happy when we found the reviews for Silver Chopsticks favorable enough to give it a go. We went in and had a great affordable delicious meal and have returned several times since then. The food is clean and delicious and never leaves me feeling over the top gross like other Asian places. Might be that they do not use any MSG. I don't know. I only know the food is good! We've tried the cashew chicken, lemon chicken, mu shu pork, crispy noodles, Kung pow, Pho along with the lettuce wraps, war wonton and Viet pork rice noodle dish. Everything has been wonderful and flavorful!! The food tastes clean! The service is attentive and quick.. the prices are affordable. Everything that keeps us coming back for more!
