I've gone to Sill's Cafe off and on for 30+years. Great food at affordable prices. Service has always been good.

Glad that this place is still cranking out the dankest breakfasts in Utah. I hadn't been to Sill's in over 15 years before I had the pleasure of eating there last weekend. I felt quite safe dining in at a restaurant for the first time since the Covid struck. Other dining parties were spaced far enough apart for my brother and I to feel comfortable and the servers and other staff religiously wore masks the entire time. I had the boss breakfast with a scone my brother ordered some kind of omelette and we ordered a sweet roll even though we knew we would not be able to finish it. The SOS gravy on the hashbrowns was just as good as I remembered. The scone surpassed my fond recollection And the sweet roll seemed even bigger than it had when I was a teenager. This restaurant is an iconic breakfast stop. My grandfather would call it a "greasy spoon." Food is delicious and cooked as ordered. Still the same as when I used to here over 30 years ago! The customer service is top notch and was sat and served expeditiously. Coming here reminds me of my childhood still, and brings back great memories. I highly recommend anyone who has never been here to come and enjoy their famous scones! They are the best!! Hot and comes with this amazing honey butter. The biscuits and gravy are huge!!!! The sos gravy is a must, it has a little more spice then the normal gravy. This place has been around for a very long time and is a staple of the community. It is kind of the run of the mill diner type of place, with very affordable pricing, local young employees and good food. I'm a sucker for an old school diner. Sil's has been on my list to get to for ages. We finally made it. Apparently, arriving a 7pm is the end of the dinner rush. People are finishing their meals. The carpets were covered with bits of food. The tables were a mess. Apparently, a lot of the families who dine here are pigs. Our server did mention they were short handed. I understand that, and it didn't ruin our meal, but jeez people you'd never create this mess at your house, but it's ok at a restaurant? Rant off. I got the steak sandwich. It was OK. My wife's food the same. It appears that I really need to order breakfast for dinner next time. That's the speciality. That said, the obvious speciality are the scones. I got a desert one, and it was more doughy than I'd like, and I can see some of the others on other tables didn't look much better. We left about 8:30 and the place was empty. They really roll up the sidewalks early, even on a Saturday. Independent of the issues of being short handed, some places take diner food and have recipes that excel. Such a classic American breakfast, I'd come back here solely for the scone and apple fritter. Food was pretty good, definitely heavy on the Sage for the SOS. But you honestly can't beat the prices for the solid food you get. Our waitress was very attentive and asking if we needed anything else. Busy place, so there might be a wait, but it shouldn't be too long with how on the ball everyone was. All the food we got in the pic was under $21 and we got two to go boxes. So. Fricken. Yummy. I always seem to get there when it's busy so the wait times I have usually seen have been around a 20 minute wait. We just wait in our car since they don't have a large front area. Once we get seated and order your drinks everything speeds up tremendously! They have figured out how to get people in and out QUICKLY! And the food is dang good every time! It's a quaint mom and pop style of ambience. Good coffee. Fantastic food. read more

The customer service here is always fantastic. The ladies are all great. The food is pretty good, but the scones are delicious. I'm a creature of habit so the only variation in my order is a sausage omelet with either sourdough toast or a scone lol. Takeout is quick and delicious as well. Tried again... even worse this time. My 1 egg was over cooked, my husbands food was flavorless, our daughters French toast had a weird taste, her bacon was stately cook, the hash brows that we asked to be extra crispy were cold are barely cooked. The 2 staff was super nice and very quick. The overall feel of the place was dirty. The ledge next to me had a thick layer of dust while the napkin holder had food from the previous people. This place has something of a reputation of excellence here in Layton. It is rumored to have the best biscuits and gravy, but we have been told that you can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. Let me start off by saying, the prices are definitely right. I wouldn't say there like super low for what you get, and they definitely aren't high. It's really a you get what you pay for situation. That isn't a bad thing. We definitely went in with high expectations though with all the raves we had heard about the place. The service was quick and nice, but the food was average at best. Some of this may be my growing up in the Deep South, but they really could benefit from the use of spices. I couldn't finish the biscuits and gravy because it was basically a flavorless pile of much to me. However, there were tables all around gobbling them up, so it may be a thing of the area to like less flavor. 3/5. We, overall, enjoyed the experience, but will not be back. read more

Came here for Sunday morning brunch with the family. Ordered a chocolate milk, breakfast sandwich with ham, and of course, a scone! The scones here are immaculate. They are rich and fluffy, and the honey butter used is sweet enough to want to devour, but not overly sweet to the point where you would want to limit yourself. The pricing is very affordable, and very filling! We waited about twenty minutes at noon to finally be seated, but it was swell worth the wait.
