Great service and food . I would definitely recommend. The Shrimp rolls and pad Thai was amazing!

So, we are staying at friend's house near Charlottesville and we wanted Thai food. This place delivers via Uber Eats, which is a huge plus. My thoughts? What's worst than bad Thai food? No Thai food at all....and thus is my review. Food (3 out of 5): We ordered the Chicken Panang Curry and Pad See Ew beef. The panning curry was my favorite of the two entrees. The chicken itself was tender and good, the broth was far too thin to be a good curry, but the flavor itself wasn't too bad. It was unfortunate that it did not look like the photo, it was missing the red peppers and the basil leaves. The Pad See Ew beef....well, I am a huge fan of this dish and get it every possible moment. This one was definitely not my favorite - the sauce itself was a bit too "fishy" for my taste. The noodles were pretty mushy by the time they arrived and they seemed to be the dry rice noodles (not the fresh ones.). The beef itself, which is a $3 upcharge, was good, though.. So, I would order the curry again and perhaps order a non-noodle dish next time.... but I would order again, with my expectations in check. Also, I would ask for chili paste, soy sauce and chopsticks! read more

I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and the Nam Tok beef salad for takeout. Both were solid. The drunken noodles were really saucy and flavorful. The beef salad had a nice fish sauce flavor to it. I would get both of them again. We also got the mango sticky rice. Apparently the blue rice is colored naturally, which is a plus for me. It tasted pretty good. I can't say I have had many mango sticky rices, but the mango was nice and ripe and the sticky rice was good. I liked how it wasn't too sweet. I would come back again. read more

The absolute worst Thai food I've ever had! If you look at what I ordered and what I received, it literally looks like 2 different dishes. It was just peanut curry and dry ass chicken. Not a single vegetable in sight. The wings were undercooked and flavorless, the sauce that came with it made it edible. The rice was the only thing cooked properly. I was in the mood for some spicy Thai food and got bullshit. They didn't even use Thai basil, it was regular basil read more

Pro: online ordering. Con: food. Passed by this restaurant frequently and decided to finally give this place a try after seeing the many decent reviews here on yelp. I used the online ordering system and got the drunken noodle with chicken and the pad Thai with pork. The drunken noodle was decent with a bit of heat. The biggest disappointment was the pad Thai, it was bland and dry. Waste of 15 dollar the drain. All in all, with one decent and one terrible food it equal to a two star rating of below average but not the worst food I ever had. Also, wouldn't recommend this place to anyone in the future. read more

Got the beef salad and the drunken noodle with chicken, duck wrap, and mango sticky rice. Everything was delicious. The salad and noodle was very delicious and flavorful. Maybe the noodles were a tad oily but otherwise it was delicious. I felt the duck wrap could have used more hoisin, I have had better duck wrap. The sticky rice color is blue which is a little odd. But they said it's naturally colored. Very solid Thai food though and I would return for sure. read more

Everything amazing here food customer service, cleanliness of the Restaurant. I think if I need to rate this place I can give 5 amazing stars! Fresh flowers in the tables all the staff is so nice and friendly . Dishes decorated so well with extra attention it's hard to find places like that. 10/10 rating from me and I will be back. I got Drunken noodles , Chicken Satay (yummy sauce!!) , Panang curry (best I ever ate) beautifully decorated. We got sticky Rice desert with Mango( best I ever ate). I can't wait to visit again! read more

6 of us had dinner here. We had a variety of items on the menu. The crispy duck was dry. One of us had pineapple duck that was so spicy she had to swap it out for Thai Pad. The spring rolls were delicious. Peanut sauce had ginger in it which made it tasty. We ordered appetizers but the food came out so fast that the table was overloaded; and all the food didn't come out the same time. Two of our party didn't get their good for 5-10 minutes after everyone else had started. There was only one waitress who took our order. The food was served by the kitchen staff. It wasn't a leisurely dinner but we didn't need to wait long for the check. Our waitress got us "to go" containers and but she wasn't able to bus the table. read more

Love this place!! I'm so glad to see them back and better than ever! We got all sorts of goodies to celebrate being able to eat the best Thai food in Charlottesville again! We got the spring rolls (a must) and Chicken Satay which was tender, ample skewers of chicken. We also got the Chicken Panang which is so peanut forward and creamy. Everything was divine including the service and the amount. We will definitely be back to eat in the clean new dining room! Love the new decor. read more

All the food was excellent, restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. All for a reasonable price.

After a long wait, silk has finally reopened and it is truly better than ever. We ordered Thai pretty regularly in my family and love all the local spots, but this just completely blew them away. My kids beg for the pad see ew. The cashew chicken is a huge delicious portion. Everything is A+. read more

DO NOT COME TO THIS RESTAURANT AND RUN AWAY BECAUSE This is actually the worst experience I've had dining in a restaurant in my life. The food I ordered tasted like actual vomit for some reason, the food portion was disappointing, and the wait time "for the waiter to come back to take our order" was more than three times the amount that we had both agreed upon. The table was rather small, and the worst part came when it came to the tips. When I selected no tip due to such extremely frustrating experience, the old lady simply went back to the counter to grab a slip and asked me to order takeout if I wasn't going to tip. This is unbelievably rude since after such frustrating experience, the restaurant does not even recognize their own mistake and instead pushed them back on the customer. Terrible food+bottom tier service+extremely long wait time is the best description that sums up my experience at silk thai. I congratulate everyone who manages to see this comment, you dodged a bullet. read more

Very bad experience with owner. The handheld device was difficult to use and charged me $20 instead of $2 tip for a $11 entree which is not a bad tip. The owner retorted by chastising me for not using the device properly and that I gave only a $2 tip. What world are these people living in. I will be checking my statement closely to see if the transaction was corrected, because he only made me change the paper receipt. The food is okay. read more

I was very warmly welcomed. The service was too notch! The staff were all super helpful, friendly, and checked in often. The food was average. Very run of the mill, little flavor. The peanut sauce was awkwardly thick and gelatinous. The fresh spring roll did not hold together well. I will go back, but only because of the happy staff and decent food. The price was higher than most local Thai food, and this also will limit my visits. read more

Great Thai food. Love their duck offering, and their soups. Sweet people and when arriving during off hours it's an easy sit and eat and depart. Portions are large enough to have a take out too. Recommended. read more

07/2021 This place does not disappoint, hits it out of the park. Started with the spicy beef salad nom tok. For dinner we had 3 entrees because we love some leftovers. I had the beef red curry (not a surprise there) delicious and creamy as usual. Hubby had the spicy basil chicken dish so tasty with that smoky flavor I love from the wok. We had some spicy jasmine basil fried rice with beef. Portion sizes are great and flavor is excellent. This is my go to Thai place in Charlottesville, been about 4 times and I don't live here. read more

Under new management and food it s not as good . Customer service for take out is minimal.

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant and will never go back there again. I ordered my noodles to be as mild as possible. The waitress repeated what I told her. What I received was too spicy and unpalatable. I told the waitress to take it back. I was shocked to see that my table was charged for the returned item, and no itemized receipt was provided for us. read more

This place has been hyped up and highly recommended for when I visited Charlottesville, and it did not disappoint! A cute joint that has outdoor and indoor seating. The decor gives off homey, bright vibes. The service was MAD quick - from the ordering to serving the food ...as in we ordered and the wait was no more than 7 minutes. Drunken noodles with crispy duck - the duck was marinated and flavored so well (especially the ones buried in the noodles). Great drunken noodles with great flavor. Eggplant basil sauce - this is served with crispy eggplant coated with fried batter and the sauce on the side that you pour on (or dip, I guess, depending what you prefer). The sauce is amazing and savory. The thai iced coffee is also VERY tasty - a sweet drink (served with whipped cream as well). Highly recommend as a great Thai place in the area! read more

Silk Thai was one of my favorite restaurants in Charlottesville and I'm so happy that it's reopened! Their Thai green curry with tofu is one of my favorite dishes and I prefer theirs to all of the other thai restaurants in Charlottesville. I felt like the recipe changed a bit in the reopening - it was creamier and had more spice, which is enjoyed. I'm excited to return to silk Thai again now that it's reopened and I hope the business will continue to succeed. read more

Silk Thai is a great Thai find in Charlottesville, VA. Tucked away right of off of UVA's grounds, it's in a prime location for anyone looking for a tasty and filling meal. My favorite item on their menu is their Drunken Noodles with Veggies & Tofu (ask them to make the tofu extra crispy - trust me it's so worth!). For anyone who likes spice, their Thai Hot can be handled and is honestly worth the try. read more

The waitress was super passive aggressive. Bad experience, ruined my night. Also food greasy (yuck!).

We initially came to eat indoors but due to the wait, changed our order to take out. Ordered the Tom yum soup, chicken drunken noodles and spicy shrimp fried rice. I don't know why this place isn't packed. This is the best Thai food I've had in Charlottesville, and the service is great.

Silk is our go-to Thai spot in Cville because of the quality and quantity of food. Their prices are more than I'd like to pay but I do anyway because the other restaurants in town are about the same if not more expensive. Tons of veg options. We love the drunken noodles, green curry, tom kha, and papaya salad. My favorite app is the tofu summer rolls--that peanut sauce is the perfect ratio of peanuty, sweet, and salty. I've placed around 10 takeout orders here and have never had issues with my order being wrong or leaky curry etc. read more

This restaurant is formerly Thai 99, a restaurant that I'm not particularly fond of. However, it has been renovated and re-branded. The renovations and changes to the recipes have paid off. The food is delicious and this is my new go-to spot to satisfy my Thai cravings! I came here on the grand opening of the restaurant and got 15% off my bill! First of all, the owners and servers were so sweet. They were highly attentive and kind in every way. We came during prime dinner time and got seated within 10 mins. The food took a while to come out but I wasn't in a rush. Let's talk about the food. My date and I got a few things to share including: -Green curry with chicken: I love love love green curry and have raided Charlottesville during the last few years to find the best green curry. This curry has become my favorite in Charlottesville. It's so flavorful, creamy and just delicious. The basil in this dish gives it a nice kick of flavor. I definitely recommend this dish. -Drunken noodles with beef: This dish has so much flavor. The noodles are cooked perfectly with a nice char and chewy texture. The beef is also tender and well seasoned. -Calamari: This calamari is interesting. I've never had calamari like it before. The dish comes with pieces of calamari and fried baby squids. Additionally, it comes with fried bell peppers. -Thai tea: One of the best I've ever had. It comes in such a big glass with whip cream on top! Presentation and taste on point. At the end of our meal, the owner gave us a complimentary dessert: fried banana rolls with vanilla ice cream. It was pretty good! The rolls were crunchy and the ice cream complimented them very well. Overall, I'd highly recommend this restaurant. The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. I'm happy that I live so close to this place and can easily swing by whenever I crave Thai food. I can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu! read more

Silk Thai Restaurant - Drunken Noodles - Thai Near Me - Charlottesville, Virginia

This relatively new Thai restaurant is probably my favorite in the city! Bonus, it's open on Sunday evenings, when traditionally many local restaurants are closed, so head over on a weekend night to satisfy your Southeast Asian food cravings! There is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant, but it can often be full. Fear not! There is reasonable street parking just in front of the restaurant. The restaurant itself is spacious, and I never have trouble getting seated in a timely fashion. The servers are attentive, and our food came out in timely manner, without much of wait. I appreciated how they paid attention to whether we wanted water with ice, water no ice, or warm water. (Always a pet peeve of mine when servers would bring water with ice when I explicitly asked for no ice.) I had the eggplant basil main dish. The eggplants were fried to perfection, then mixed with a great soy sauce-based sauce. The jasmine rice was fragrant and complemented the eggplant dish. My friends had pad see ews and curries and enjoyed them very much as well. read more

Hello, most delicious Thai restaurant of late. We were driving to dinner and passed by this new and improved Thai restaurant near Fontaine Research Park. On a whim, we decided to come here instead of our original destination. It turned out to be a great choice. In the place of Thai '99, which I avoided at all costs, Silk Thai is like a phoenix risen from the ashes. Ambience- the interior is newly renovated with fresh wall color and extremely clean/cute. There is a current winter theme to the decorations. Food-came out fast and was delicious. Price is on par with other places up 29 that are further out of town. Papaya salad- shrimp were delicious and ample amounts of flavor as well as bulk of papaya. Crispy duck -boneless, well textured, and flavorful with crisp basil and peppers Eggplant basil- fried, stir fried and then topped with crispy basil. Honestly I prefer eggplant with less breading but this dish was still delicious Kao poi - I asked the server his favorite noodle dish and he recommended this. Chicken and noodles with crispy noodles topped with coconut curry like sauce and sour veggies -yum Minus for the flavorless tea my friend ordered. Just get Thai ice tea instead of hot tea and you will probably be fine. read more

Silk Thai Restaurant - Tofu + Veggie Pad Thai... with meat? - Thai Near Me - Charlottesville, Virginia

I love Thai food and I decided to treat myself to some as a reward for my several hours studying at the library tonight. Luckily for me, Silk Thai is open until 9 pm and the library closed at 8:30 pm. I'm not new to Silk Thai but it was my first time returning in a while. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and a tom yum soup with chicken. The tom yum is standard. Silk Thai's drunken noodles are awesome. The dish is consistently flavorful and contains a good portion. I usually get the drunken noodles with crispy duck but my college budget led me to opting for chicken tonight because of the additional cost for the duck. However, if you choose to eat inside the restaurant then don't let the additional price discourage you from ordering the crispy duck because it is amazing and can be worth the price. In my previous experiences ordering takeout from Silk Thai, I have found that the crispy duck loses its crispness in the take out process, therefore I opted for chicken this time around. What stops me from giving Silk Thai a full five stars is the inconsistency of some of their other basic Thai dishes. Although they have one of the best drunken noodles I have tasted, the Pad Thai is not very good and lacks flavor. Overall, I recommend the drunken noodles and other select dishes-- particularly the crispy duck. I do not come for the Pad Thai. read more

This was so unexpected!! We have been dying for some good Thai, some other nearby restaurants either haven't been successful or we're not open to our unexpected delight!! They were very nice, very fast. Everything was hot and fresh. The silk calamari was so delicious. It had veggies, it had spice. Definitely get this over the regular calamari! The red curry!!
