Service was great! I think the waitress's name was Caroline and she was such a delight! Very professional, friendly, and down to Earth. She made us feel comfortable and gave great food recommendations. Bruschetta: probably the best I've ever had. I think there was goat cheese on it. It was creamy and the bread wasn't hard like some other places I've had it at. Calamari was good, has a bit of a kick if you eat it with the peppers it comes with. Steak with fries and spinach: perfectly cooked to my request of medium. Spinach wasn't seasoned but I still liked it. I would definitely come back. read more

We're in town for a family wedding and traveling with our pup. So, a dog friendly restaurant was a must for us. The Yelp! reviews led us to Sedona Taphouse and we were not disappointed! We were welcomed with smiles and promptly seated. The beer selection was outstanding. My wife found a gluten free beer and I found an old favorite from my college days in upstate NY. My wife wanted an appetizer, and ordered what she thought was a small order of nachos. Small? More like Texas sized. Chips, guacamole, white cheese jalapeño (could have used more) and pulled pork. I went with a special seared tuna salad with cucumber, edamame, avocado, lettuce, peanuts and greens. Delicious. Everything was spot on, with excellent service from Evan. This spot was recommended by a family local so our party gathered to eat. Big plus for having an outdoor space that dogs could join us and had a water bowl just for them. Staff was pleasant and checked in on us regularly even with a busy night. We enjoyed appetizers of Thai Shrimp (tasty and simple), bacon wrapped and stuffed jalapeños (solid flavor and just a touch of heat) and truffle fries (truffle was too much for my taste). We enjoyed the hangover burgers with one being a gluten free set up. All provided for plenty of filling food. I enjoyed the availability of substitutions for the standard fries for a side, which I had the caprice salad. Just the right cleanser for the burger. I stopped in with my friend today after work for lunch. They only had two servers working, which is ridiculous at lunch time. Our server's name was Kiara, and it started out very promising. From there, it kind of went downhill. She took our lunch order and then a drink order, both of us ordered a drink from the bar. We had each gotten a glass of water, in about 20 minutes later or lunch came out. And we still did not have our drinks. It took about 40 minutes before we finally got our drinks from the bar. When we asked about it she said oh they're just really behind. It was not that busy in there, this was around 12:15 today. I've been there twice, and I can honestly say I won't be going back. We went not long after they opened and I thought okay, give him another chance. It was busy it was new in town and everyone was there. I think my first instinct was correct, and I should have left well enough alone. We asked for it to go box for my lunch, it took her a good 10 to 15 minutes to come back and bring me that and or checks. Needless to say she got a very lackluster tip compared to what she would have gotten. read more

Have reviewed Sedona on a previous occasion giving it 3 stars. Went there with 3 other people yesterday. Service was extremely slow. Requested a 2nd beer twice that never came & went to the bar to request it again. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. It was extremely dry and tough, batter was close to burnt. They did remove the sandwich from the bill, but it was still about $135 for 4 people to have lunch. Can't afford expensive crap food. Will not go there again. read more

I met a good friend for lunch recently at Sedona Taphouse in Charlottesville, Virginia. I must say that Sedona Taphouse is one of the best restaurants in Virginia. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was very enjoyable and very fun. I had appetizers, a main course, and dessert, and all of these were great. The location of this restaurant is central and convenient within Charlottesville geography. As a University of Virginia alumnus, I also love the fact that University of Virginia students work at this restaurant. Thank you to Sedona Taphouse for being a wonderful restaurant, a great part of the Charlottesville and University of Virginia communities, and a tavern full of wonderful ambiance. Even though the restaurant was packed, the staff did an excellent job of getting to us quickly. There are two benches outside to sit on. We both had the flat iron steak. It was grilled perfectly with a nice char. Prices were excellent because they were having charity event otherwise I thought it was a bit expensive for what you got. I gave Sedona another try after having it awhile ago and feeling it was mostly meh. I went with a group from work for a business lunch and was impressed with the food and service. I think they've stepped up their service over the last few years so props to their management for doing a good job. The inside is upscale casual and comfortable for a laid back sit down dinner or a business lunch. Business casual is appropriate to eat here although I did see many folks in jeans and t shirts. Our server was awesome and super helpful answering questions and making recommendations (even with a broken foot!) she recommended the devils pass pasta and I decided to give it a try For apps we had the crabcake flatbread, edamame and calamari. All were great, no complaints. Many of us ordered drinks, I had a New York sour and felt like it was well done. This was a bug improvement on the last time I was here where my app and drink were both under expectations. So great job. The devils pass pasta was great. I added shrimp to it and was surprised how good it was. I had the French quarter pasta awhile ago and didn't care for it so I was a little nervous to try their pasta again. It was awesome. I would totally get this again. For dessert our table ordered some chocolate peanut butter cake - the meal was quite large so I passed on this but heard the dessert was great. The restaurant was PACKED (I actually couldn't get parking bc it was so full) so I think Sedona has stepped their game up and people are taking note. I would be back again for lunch or dinner soon. I visited Sedona Taphouse on my way to see my sister at UVA. While I'm not a beer drinker myself, I was very impressed by the wide selection of beers this location offers. The vibe was lively and sports-oriented. Our server was super nice but not as attentive as we'd hoped, likely due to the dinner rush and high volume. I ordered a New York Strip with a side of grilled asparagus and garlic whipped potatoes, along with their chimichurri sauce, which was absolutely delicious for dipping the steak. The steak itself was flavorful but not particularly memorable--comparable to what you'd expect from a Great American restaurant. However, the chimichurri sauce definitely elevated the dish. FOOD: The Alpine Burger was well-balanced, not falling into the temptation that a lot of "artisanal" burgers do, where it's all a bit too much of the "muchness" flavor-wise. I know it had sherry-infused [something] - mushrooms I think? Anyway, it was nice. Instead of fries, I got the roasted brussel "ralphs" (as my little son would say ) so that was a tasty addition. But the main reason I decided on stopping when I was looking at the map was the assumption that they had a good tap list. Bartender said they had about 50 on tap. Both local craft brews I tried really hit the spot. SERVICE: Bartender very pleasant & down-to-earth. Well-attended throughout. No complaints at all. PRICE: Under $30 for everything. Both were great to me but daughter didn't like the lack of sauce and over abundance of spinach and vegetables in the impossible bolognese so we traded. The meat didn't taste like anything weird. I loved the vegetables and lots of spinach! Could have had a touch more flavor but I guess it's to be expected for a plant based dish as the meat is usually what gives the flavor in the sauce. Came here in the middle of the day on a Wednesday. I was surprised with how busy it was, but not too loud. They have a great menu selection from specials to meals and drinks: hand-crafted, on tap, and stocked. I ordered the blueberry pomegranate cocktail, which is made with vodka, and was highly recommended by my waiter. It's pomegranate heavy and easy to drink. The shrimp was yummy, a small amount of spice, with lots of green beans and crunchies to accompany the dish. The portion is a tad misleading, not as many shrimp as is may look like. The waiter was super kind, answered my questions, and checked in on us throughout the meal. I'd be happy to come back here and try more items (the whole menu looked good). Came here for the first time and ordered takeaway through their website. Hubby and I ordered their prime rib sandwich with asparagus and steakhouse salad (medium). Total came out to $43, not including tip, including tax and a to-go service charge. What's hot - Service. You can order online through their website, which is helpful. When I placed my order, the website said 20mins for my order to be ready. I arrived before 20 minutes (prob 15mins) and my order was ready. Their hostess asked me if I needed utensils, which was helpful. I was happy that in spite of a long line of diners waiting to get seated, my order was ready. - Price. There is a to-go service charge, which is a reasonable amount (less than $2 for our order). The prime rib sandwich was approximately $15 and the steakhouse salad was approximately $22. Pretty reasonable and good value for money, with the exception of what I discuss below. - Quality. Delicious. I ordered the steak medium, which it was. Very well cooked and well-seasoned; not overly salty, which I appreciated. There was an adequate amount of toppings in my salad and it didn't appear they skimped. My husband's sandwich was pretty good, as well. Their au jus sauce was also delicious and not overly salty. - Location. Easy to find and there's a good size parking lot. What's not - Portion of sides. My husband's side of asparagus only came with 4 pieces of asparagus, which was skimpy. If they were French fries, it definitely would've been more. Disappointing. - No salad dressing. I ordered oil and vinegar for my salad dressing and I didn't see or taste a hint of dressing. Fortunately, the cheese crumbles and steak made up for any lack of flavor from the dressing. Final answer Pretty good and would be willing to return. read more

An hour and a half after our order and haven polished off our 2 appetizers 45 min ago, we were ready to just call it a day and cancel. When we started with "What is going on with our dinner? We'd like to..." Rather than letting us complete the sentence, they turned their backs quickly and rushed for the kitchen, saying they'll check. Probably dawned upon them that we ordered food rather a too long time ago. Then the manager and the waitress both came back and were fussing at the register. Twenty minutes later, our chicken and salmon came out. When asked what happened, they said that they wanted to give us the freshest salmon, because what was plated was not fresh. We thought this was absurd... But nearly 2 hours later, we were starving and ate what they brought. Just the most junior manager on duty... Gave us some excuse that let them off the hook, like a school boy, but was completely unable or unwilling to create a good customer experience. We already ordered $50 in drinks and appetizer, with 2 entree and more drinks coming, the total was will over $150. Wouldn't you want to make things right? Just owe up to the mistake of not entering the order and then comp us a couple of desserts to make up for the insanely long delay, instead of behaving like a school boy who got caught doing something wrong.
