This is the most amazing food! So down to earth, yet sophisticated food. The Notorious PIG is not to be missed! Their soups are again, delicious and elevated above many restaurants in the area. Staff are friendly and courteous. As a former Seattleite, I consider myself to be a serious coffee critic, and lover. They know how to make a wicked latte! Some of the best in Charlottesville. My only critique is that I wish they still had inside seating, too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. What do I love most about Ivy Provision's? That they remind me of home in Virginia Beach decades ago when TASTE Unlimited first opened. Better yet I respect the overall operation after a single visit and know they have their act together. Ivy Provisions is located just outside UVA grounds make it very convenient for this HOO Dad to check out the first time. Of course I looked at their reviews, menu and photos of sandwiches to properly vet. I was astonished and made this a must stop. I caught them at a good time on a weekday before close and better yet knew they were featuring lobster rolls on the Ivy Provisions Instagram feed. Parking was easy in their own lot. The non commercialized building was a welcome site. This is the one and only Ivy Provisions. Grab a bag of chips, salad or treat with a bottle drink as you head to the counter of Ivy's cozy space. The young gentleman was friendly and efficient with answering a few questions. My wife ordered the Gobbfather which is a Turkey Melt on white. I ordered the lobster roll special. Seating is all outdoors on the patio. Food orders are prepared and sent out in a bag through the window, you will find utensils and napkins in this location. The area was clean. The restroom is gender neutral and was also clean with proper supplies. My wife enjoyed her turkey melt and found it so big she could not finish. My lobster roll I had no problem dusting off. It was a beautiful roll with fresh Maine lobster and soft roll. Total home run. Find me back at Ivy Provisions the next time in Charlottesville. Great sandwich shop in Charlottesville! I am new to the area, but I stumbled upon this place since I was craving a sandwich on a summer day. I ordered the Notorious PIG (since im a huge fan of Italian subs). The sub had perfect portions of meat, cheese, and veggies. The bread also tasted fresh too. I stopped at Ivy on the way home from a trip and it was very easy to get to off the interstate. Little did I know this would be one of the best stops of my day. I pulled in to this absolutely adorable market. The directions are really clear on how to navigate everything, which I've appreciated. The ambience gives Small town, College Café, and down home delicious farm to table cuisine. when you walk in there's plenty of menus to pick from, and you can pick other local provisions to accompany your fare of choice. Walk up to the counter, place your order, then enjoy sitting outside and the quaint atmosphere of Charlottesville. I ordered the bacon and jammin sandwich. I had my sandwich in less than five minutes despite how busy the café was. I was so surprised and overwhelmed by how delicious this sandwich was. It met all of my expectations and more. Got a local recommendation to check out this place so we stopped by to grab a couple of quick sandwiches. Some parking out front. It was quite busy when we swung by, there was a decent amount of people there but also lots of pickup orders through apps. It took about 20 minutes for our order to be ready. We got the Gobbfather (turkey) and the Notorious PIG (salami, prosciutto, capicola). We asked which one was the most popular sandwich and they said Gobbfather. To be honest, neither blew me away. The service is consistently good, the staff is friendly and ready to answer questions, and I love that the fridge is stocked with local beer, kombucha, and sweet treats. I'm a big fan of supporting local small businesses and this place gets it. I've had Ivy Provisions a few times. On my most recent visits I've come here for breakfast, and I really liked my orders. Food and drinks can be purchased and ordered inside, and there are decent tables for sitting down and eating outside the shop. It's a cute and casual place for grabbing a bite in the morning or even a sandwich for lunch.   For breakfast, I've tried The Regular with Smoked Bacon, the Cali Girl, and 12 oz Iced Coffee. I've enjoyed everything that I've tried here. The coffee is decent. The Regular was prepared perfectly. The biscuit is delicious, buttery, and not dry. The cheese was perfectly melted. And the cuts of bacon were nice was cooked perfectly. The Cali Girl is tasty, fresh, and the croissant was toasted to perfection. The egg soufflés in the breakfast sandwiches are a generous size, cooked perfectly, and delectable.   For lunch, I recently tried the Notorious P.I.G. Everything in the sandwich was fresh and the combination of meats, cheeses, and olive oil on the baguette were delicious.   In my experience, Ivy Provisions consistently delivers fresh and perfectly prepared sandwiches. Look, the food is good. Service can be slow but not usually too bad. What kills me is the clientele. Seems like 80% are rich *holes and their kids. Seating is very tight and those people will rudely grab a the newly open seat you were waiting for ahead of them or take your table if you step inside to grab water (just happened to me). There's a large private school next door that supplies some of these neat people. And the overheard convos can also be sus. So maybe plan to takeout until the restaurant builds more seating. read more

Dropping a star after a recent visit. Since I've been, they've added online ordering and a takeout window which are great improvements. But they've also cut down on the breakfast sando options, including removing my favorites (sloppy jose rip and the fried chicken/pimiento one), as well as increasing prices to almost $10 for a breakfast sando (remember when the regular was $4? I do). The regular is still great, they now offer it with sausage as well (but bacon is still best). The "replacement" for the sloppy jose is pretty good - now chorizo with potatoes in a wrap, which is satisfying but not the same as chorizo and souffle egg on a perfectly crisp english muffin. I LOVE Ivy Provisions and they've nailed it every time I've been there. The inside is cute it feels more like a small grab and go gas station but minus the gas. There are some cold drinks but no seating inside, so it's best to do takeout or sit outside on the patio. The seats fill up FAST so don't expect to sit unless you get there before the lunch rush or before breakfast rush. Wouldn't expect to seat more than 4 people at a table at the absolute most. Definitely more a grab and go. They have a ton of options and are great about including dietary restriction options as well as vegan options. There are a few sandwiches that come already made as vegan which is really nice. I would recommend the Regular for breakfast (big OL biscuit with white cheddar, bacon or sausage (there's one correct choice and it's sausage) and a huge soufflé egg). The soufflé egg is the best I've ever had hands down. It's HUGE and so light and fluffy. The white cheddar adds a great tanginess to the biscuit and it is so good. For lunch my favorite is the Notorious P.I.G. If you like a classic Italian sub, you'll like this. It's pretty similar in terms of the meat and such but has some pickled peppers on it and it's vinegary, meaty and so good. Service is always fast for pickup and delivery and when I've stopped by in person they've always been nice. We've ordered some sandwiches to go for work and they've gotten it out on time and I've never seen mistakes or complaints with the food!! Only possible downsides are 1) parking on site can be kinda hard and 2) the prices are a bit high. If you want a more budget friendly but equally delicious option, I'd recommend tubbys. Their hours are a bit wonkier and they are a no frills joint, but do a great job. Ivy provisions is a bit more dressed up/trendier but worth what you pay for. Highly recommend! read more

My favorite thing on their menu is The Regular: a sandwich with sharp white cheddar cheese, your choice of bacon or sausage, homemade biscuit, and a soufflé style egg. This egg is truly one of the best breakfast foods available in Charlottesville. I have no idea how they make it so tender and flavorful, but you literally have to check it out. Outside of that there is an excellent selection of sandwiches, salads, and more! I really love that you can add local potato chips and homemade desserts to your meal. And of course, don't skip the coffee. This place makes all their own stuff, and their homemade chai latte is delicious! I went to this deli this morning at around 11:30. I mistakenly thought it would be a good experience. As others who have posted one star rviews, it was not, and I will not be back. First problem is the TIP! TIP! TIP! pressure! OMG, you are a take out deli. You are more automated than any other sandwich place I have ever been too. You have to eat your sandwich on a bench outside only after being TEXTED that it's done. And your sandwiches are grossly overpriced to begin with. Why the tip? The first encounter with tip pressure was a jar on the "Pay here" desk. Right. There was no one there. I stood for four minutes. The two guys who do the cooking saw me but did nothing. The woman who was restocking saw me but disappeared. A woman working in the back saw me, but nothing happened. Invisible woman over 50 problem? Finally, the young woman doing the restocking appeared. Did not apologize. I ordered two sandwiches and a pumpkin latte. The charge was an amazing $29.00. i asked to have the Italian sandwich toasted. She clarified "Whole sandwich toasted or just bread?" I said "just bread" (it didn't matter because the guys in the back ignored that request. Then the woman asked for my phone no. which I thought odd and questioned it because it was a D.C. area code. She then turned the cash register sign around so I "could" tip 15% 20% 25%. NO! What are you doing to deserve a tip for takeout sandwiches costing $29.00? So I declined, paid, then followed the inane signs (no one tells you how high tech this place is - you have to figure it out youself. Lord help you if you are handicapped as I am.) So I wander outside and wait for my ridiculous TEXT telling me my sandwich was ready. AGAIN, another tip jar! Meanwhile I am reading the one star reviews and note that orders are often wrong. I finally get my two sandwiches and coffee and go to the car. No, the italian sandwich was NOT toasted. It even says TOASTED on the receipt. The guys in the back don't care, as others have noted, and there is no system of checks in place. I gave up. I will not be back. Wegmans and Whole Foods make much better sandwiches; are less expensive; and I'm not pestered to tip on top of poor service. read more

I asked one for their recommendation for either the gobbfather or the notorious P.I.G. and she said most people like the gobbfather. I am keeping in mind that I took my sandwich to go and I'll also note that it was still warm when I got home. I am normally someone who loves condiments and even leans on the heavier side for my sandwiches but my sandwich had so much spicy mayo (it didn't taste spicy) it was dripping out. I tried to use a knife to get some off and it had oozed so much into the bread that there was no escaping it. Even though the description said toasted it seemed like it was also slathered in butter and grilled. For the little bit of turkey and cheese I could actually taste beneath the sauce it seemed to be a very good quality. If I had eaten there I would have definitely taken it back and asked for it to be remade. I ate as much as I could stand since I was really hungry but I'm sad to say I've had better sandwiches from subway and I'm not even a subway fan. I added a pickle to my order cause you can't beat a good deli pickle and unfortunately I was disappointed by that as well. Where do I even begin. This place was recommended when I told someone I needed a good sandwich place. Boy were they RIGHT! I had such a hard time deciding which sandwich to get but the special Basil King was calling my name. I wish it was on the menu all the time because it's a nice balance of sweet, spicy and refreshing. The fried chicken was glazed with a sweet chili, it game with a spicy Mayo, jalapeños for some spice, cucumber and basil for some refreshing taste. I love they serve water, juices or a beer if you want to spicy it up for lunch. I can't wait to go back and try the salads and sides, but also the other sandwiches they have to offer.
