Probably the only positive (at least to me) to come out of this pandemic, is more restaurants adding the ability to order and pay for their food online and then just pick it up in a contactless fashion in the facility. It has been a safety lifeline, but also very convenient when on the road. My husband and I were on our way to DC and we placed our lunch order with this Chopt in Charlottesville as it was on the way. They provided real time updates, and our food was ready, bagged, and on shelf by the time we arrived. Chopt offers all kind of salads and bowls as well as the ability to make and customize your own creations. You get decent size salad and to-go orders come in a resealable plastic container. My go to is the Asian Crunch Salad (FreeBird grilled chicken, rainbow carrots, broccoli, pickled red onions, crispy shallots, romaine, cabbage & cilantro blend) with Sesame Ginger dressing. I also added edamame because I love them. With each order you have the option for an included slice of bread. It's a nice and bright salad, lots of vegetables, not heavy, and I found easy to eat in the car. I love chopt, but they're always out of SOMETHING. The ingredients are fresh and tasty, but almost always do I either have to go without an ingredient or substitute an ingredient. The service the past few times has also been lacking. Last time we had to wait about 8 minutes at the register for someone to come over and take payment. read more

Stopped by for a quick healthy lunch with my mother. Ordered two warm bowls with cauliflower rice. And a bowl of tomatoe soup. The employee who filled the soup bowl filled it 2/3 full. First bad sign. And then we waited for our cauliflower rice. We were told it needed to finish cooking. Got our waters and sat down. I went back to the counter to check on the rice I was told three more minutes. Seven minutes after that, our lunches were ready. I forgot to bring lunch to work with me one day, so I decided to try Chopt. The restaurant seemed very clean and was laid out for efficiency, so I was in and out quickly. I got a Greek salad wrap, which was nicely prepared by the very attentive staff, but it was just a bit pricey at $14 and some change. After a moderate sized tip, you're talking $18.50 for basically a sandwich wrap. I will certainly think about that cost the next time I'm halfway to work and realize I forgot my lunch. read more

I went to Chopt to meet a colleague over lunch and to discuss a project. Good thing I got there early enough to be able to order my food before the lunch rush, as they're soooo slow here! When I got there, there was a line of 5 people waiting for pickups and just a few people waiting to order. I was waited on in about 5 minutes and my food was made relatively quickly. I sat down, ate and noticed only one of those 5 in the pickup line left, the others were still waiting. Since I was waiting on my colleague, I watched as it took about 30 minutes for all of them to get their orders and leave. In that amount of time, the line to place an order was backed up to the door and down the front side of the restaurant. They are ridiculously slow here! I ended up having my colleague meet me at Chick Fil A so we could get him lunch and still make a meeting we needed to get to. As for the food... It was just ok. It was definitely fresh and the hot peppers packed decent heat, but the seasonings were lacking big time and it was bland, definitely not worth the $14 I paid for it (without a drink, as I drank water). I've heard mixed reviews about Chopt in general and now that I've experienced it, I won't be going back. I'll stick with Sweetgreen in areas where they have them or find something else altogether. read more

So I consider myself the type of person that likes to try everything on the menu - especially when it comes to fast casual restaurants like Chopt. HOWEVER, I cannot seem to ever want to order anything EXCEPT the Mexican Caesar salad. I tell you, I get salad cravings over this beauty of a bowl. I like to do a Kale/Romaine mix - kale can be added in at no extra charge - with no protein and a side of included bread. Gets me every. single. time. Now I am sure the other salads are delicious, but there is something so beautiful about the simplicity of this salad with a spicy kick that just had me coming back. So if you want to spice up your Caesar - give this baby a try. Also, Chopt has a pretty great app that I use consistently. They don't deliver at this location but you can put your order in in advance, and just pickup your prepaid salad. It's pretty great! It was okay... this is my first time going, so I didn't really know what the process was, but what I do know is that there were enough workers in the building that one person should not have to have made the salad alone. So my wait was a little bit longer because I had to wait until he finished the lady in front of me. Today I got the make your own salad which allows you to choose 4 items and what type of lettuce you want. I am not a huge salad eater, but I did get some things in there that I generally like. They will fix the salad for some nice feature but once he makes the salad and see that all I have Romaine lettuce. All of my condiments had fallen to the bottom of the bowl. They also offer fountain sodas, which may not be for you, but they have sodas in cans at the register. This place has been INCREDIBLE at catering to my allergies! I have egg and sesame allergies and they have gone above and beyond to keep me safe. Ziara in particular is always diligent about preventing allergen cross-contamination. She washes her hands, switches gloves, gets a new cutting board, and will even pull fresh ingredients from the back to ensure that they have minimal contamination. Stopped in at Chopt the other day for lunch and it was a pleasant experience. First of all, there is plenty of parking so dining here is convenient. Additionally, there is plenty of space inside so you won't have trouble finding a place to enjoy your salad. When you first arrive, you jump in a line. You can read through the menus they have available printed out or on the wall. You can choose any of their pre-made salads or you can build your own. They have a LOT of choices. I ended up going with a premade salad called The Palm Beach. It was pretty good. It was a little bland but it was a LOT of food which was great and it came with a slice of tasty bread. Everyone was super friendly and this destination also offers a military discount which is helpful because this place is super pricey. I freaking love this place. I heard an average review from a friend from NY about this place which kept me away until a friend from California visited and wanted a salad. I am right around the corner from the place and wanted to check it out. I am vegetarian so tried both the Mediterranean salad and Mexicali vegan and YUM! Both salads are fantastic and hearty. The Mediterranean has falafel balls and Tahini while the Mexicali has avocado, beans, artichoke hearts and other stuff. I enjoy the Mexicali a bit more since the sauce has a kick and I love me some spicy! Price: the salads are $10 for the Mediterranean and $9 for the Mexicali and they both fill me up. I think the price is fair. Service: super fast and really great. Definitely recommend this spot and will keep visiting! read more

My orders are always on time and the portions that they put on the salad are perfect. The staff there in the (Charlottesville) store are all so kind and so friendly and so welcoming! AFFORDABILITY: Most of the entrees are around $10. I wouldn't necessarily call it cheap, but the quantity is filling and the variety options is really nice . PARKING: Plenty of parking around Barracks Shopping Center VENUE: Chop't just had its grand opening a few days ago. If you've ever been to a Chopt in DC or NYC, the first thing you will notice is that this Charlottesville Chopt is MASSIVE. Definitely a different experience than you would have if you have been to one in a city. There is seating outside and inside there are several tables and booths as well. Everything is very clean and sleek and the fabric in the booths was really nice too. The only potentially confusing part is that a lot of people may enter from the side door and not the main entrance. From my experience and observations, the restaurant seemed LGBTQ+ and POC friendly. GENERAL: The minute we walked in we were greeted by someone explaining how ordering works and the menu. Another employee also checked up on us while in line and the manager did twice: in line and also while we were dining. Multiple employees came by to pick up our finished dishes while we were dining or to ask if we wanted more free bread. Even while ordering, employees would always ask if we wanted more sauce or our salad chopped more finely. Everyone was super friendly and it was a great first impression to have of the restaurant. How it works is you can make your own salad or choose one of the many preset combinations. They will put the salad materials in a bowl and hand you a ticket (that you later hand to the cashier when you pay) and will then lead you to a chopping station. At the chopping station they slice-and-dice your salad however fine you would like it (don't have to chop it if you don't want) and add the dressing. At the cash register, at least that day, they were giving out free pieces of bread. Again, everyone was super friendly. THE FOOD: I ordered the Kebab Cobb because I love Tzatziki and Pita Chips and Feta in my salads. I got it double chopped (in my opinion, the more chopped the better, I was just too excited to eat to get it even more chopped) and with extra Tzatziki. It was absolutely delicious. Mixed well you would get a little bit of every flavor in every bite, which is the advantage of the chopping. And the flavors were definitely strong. The rich Tazatziki balanced out the spicy peppers really well and the Pita Chips added a nice crunch - a much appreciated change in texture to the rest of the salad. I definitely 100% recommend. My friends also enjoyed their salads, the Smoky Santa Cruz and Spicy Santorini (pictures below) ACCOMODATIONS: You can customize to your heart's content. They have so many different add-ins and options. Just let them know you have food restrictions and they will work with you. OVERALL: I always think when you get to watch your food being made, the experience is heightened. That mantra stayed true at this restaurant. Tasty food, decent price, decent portions, friendly employees. I couldn't ask for much more. read more

Easy parking, tons of seating, lots of great salad choices! Chop't is pretty much like another Roots but with different dressings and salad combos. I love the variety of fresh vegetables and ingredients you can pick from as well as the set combos. There's also option for wraps and sandwiches. It's around $10 or so for a salad but you get a pretty big salad. The dressings are super creative and delicious! I got the lemon tahini one and really liked it! It tasted more like hummus and went very well with my grilled chicken. There are plenty of seats and tables at this place. I also like how they provide the nutritional information and calorie counts for the dressings and the salads. In addition, they chop up the salad ingredients and mix it up for you! Overall, a nice addition to Barracks Shopping Center! Definitely an easier place to get to than Roots: less crowded, more seats, easier parking. Did not want to leave a negative review. Unfortunately I called the number three times and was on hold for over 10 minutes and finally hung up on. After two rounds of antibiotics I thought eating a healthy salad would be just what I needed. Boy was I wrong. First it was over $17 for a basic salad with avocado ( which was excellent) quinoa, hard boiled egg and bacon pieces, one half slice of bread and seltzer water. The balsamic dressing was tasteless. But that was no big deal. What bothered me, was the huge hunk of frozen, dried out, leathery discolored egg I had paid an additional .79 cents for. Because it was a chopped salad, this discolored, dehydrated, leathery egg, was now all over every part of my salad. I still feel sick from it eight or nine hours since I had the salad. What bothered me the most, is if they are this reckless with their eggs, how are they with their quinoa? The beets? The extremely frozen vegetables that taste like ice cubes? How old are they? I didn't want to leave a negative review, so I thought I would call, just to let them know, "throughout your eggs and make sure you put fresh ones in". But what annoyed me, was that it was virtually impossible to reach anyone at the company, or have anyone actually answer the phone. Which pointed to me a lack of care and disregard they have for their customers. Eat your premium priced salad, go home, get out of here, and we don't care about your feedback. Just leave us alone. I am a CHOPT regular. As in I eat there 2-3 times a week and have for 3 years. Love love love my salads from CHOPT. The team there is awesome and the weathered the worst of the pandemic amazingly well. I order a custom salad (the same one) every single time. It's always delicious - and the couple of times it was wrong, it was tied to new team members joining - and mistakes are inevitable during training (and that's ok). The Manager is fabulous and has great customer service orientation. I always order via the app - and grab my salad from the shelf - saves time and is super easy. Chopt is great - America is lacking in an upscale, fast casual salad place, and Chopt fills the void. The only place like it is sweetgreen in the DC area. All the ingredients were fresh and the portions generous. The service was friendly and they did a good job prepping the salad. The prices are high, but you are getting a generous portion of fresh vegetables. There's a big dining room with modern decor, and a good atmosphere for a quick lunch or to work as a group. read more

Cool DIY salad concept, clean modern interior, and friendly staff. Also, there's so much parking available it's delightful. For those that haven't been yet, it's good to know ahead of time that you will be required to either pick a pre-selected combination or craft your own. I'd recommend reading up on the options beforehand, or at least stepping to the side and researching the menu (yes, I mean researching because there are quiet a few descriptions and combinations - it's an art form ya'll) before getting in line and realizing you're not sure what to get. Help the rest of your fellow salad goers out by knowing in advance what you might want. I love how many fresh ingredients are included in their selection, and the process in which things are "chop't" for refinement of flavor. I also really dig the intense cutlery used to dice all my food into one well blended pile of deliciousness. I really loved the Chicken Tinga that was recommended by their savvy staff, and would suggest that for those who like well spiced and tender chicken on their salads/wraps. Of course, how could I forget? I fell in love their their hot sauce. I would come back just for that hot sauce. You think I'm joking? I never joke about hot sauce. It's housed next to the Tabasco at the end after you pay for your meal. 10/10 on the sauce. What I would love to see improve is how their new staff handle heavy traffic during peek meal hours. But, but, all that to say? I'm a fan and would suggest you try this place out as another solid option for meals at Barracks! read more

When you go to a place week after week you realize it's time to write a review. I look forward to my weekly visit to Chopt. The salads are always fresh, they give you lots of options and they do not skimp on the high end ingredients (in my case lots of chicken in my Kale Caesar salad)! They make it just the way I like it (not too much dressing to overwhelm everything). And, a great slice of locally baked bread. Lots of other items on a menu that changes with the seasons but I have my favorites. The restaurant is always clean. The manager is always available to chat or to take feed back. So I thought to myself I'm gonna give this place a try! I was in the area and in the mood for a salad. I had heard that Chopt was good! Well!! Let me just start off with saying I wish I had found this place sooner but at least I have found it now! Chopt is an amazing place. I love that there are so many different ingredients to choose from. Everything is extremely fresh & very appealing to the eye. I needed alot of help because I don't like super spicy, can't eat cilantro, I don't do pork and I like sweet with savory! The two young men that created my salad, were extremely accommodating. Nathaniel and Javon, I hope I spelled their names right, were absolutely amazing and equally fantastic. They made sure to do everything on my checklist and went as far as trying to find the perfect dressing for me. They let me sample every single dressing and I ended up doing a hybrid! I got part of the white balsamic which was delicious and the tahini lemon which was also very tasty. I liked the two dressings together. The art of chopping my salad was really enthralling to watch. These guys know what they're doing! I was thoroughly impressed with the finished product and the customer service was above and beyond. I am definitely coming back. My husband ordered me the Palm Beach salad, which cost $10, he took it for carry out so now I am stuck with this. They gave me chicken instead of shrimp and it is mostly chicken and lettuce. Little tiny chunks of avocado and eggs. Not impressed and severely disappointed because I love salads and was looking forward to frequenting this place. I have attached a photo vs what was advertised. Also, not a whole lot of dressing to go along with it. Update. My husband contacted Chopt in regards to the salad we received. The response to our service was amazing. They gave us a refund and a handwritten note and even added a personal touch.
