Really incredible place to eat! They have such kind staff, and their food is so delicious. I will say, a lot of their food has an earthy signature flavor, kind of like how beets taste but much less extreme. Which is not a bad thing! And there are options that are more savory or sweet as well, as someone who prefers that savory taste, I usually get the breakfast burrito. It is so delicious! I loved this spot! If I was closer, I'd end up going here about once a week, it's so delicious. My soon-to-be mother-in-law and I ended up here after some wedding venue touring. We needed to eat after some fun wine tasting and ended up at this charming fast casual spot. You order your food at the front cashier. The menu is filled with incredible vegan goodies. After ordering, you get a number to sit wherever you like and they bring the food to you. There is plenty of seating here so you're bound to find a good spot to sit. Our food came out pretty fast and it was incredible. I ate every single last bite. I adored my roasted sweet potato bowl. The sauce really complimented the entire dish. My MIL loved her bowl too. I tried a bite of the cauliflower and it was divine. There were single stall restrooms at this spot with cute wall art. It's a huge space and a great spot for lunch. We had a wonderful time eating out at Botanical Fare. The staff was very welcoming as soon as we walked in and they had an extensive 100% vegan menu, which is always a dream come true!! We ordered 3 items off their fall seasonal menu - the sweet potato sammie, fall pasta, and the potstickers - and then went outside to their outdoor seating. We loved people-watching in the shade and really enjoyed the street ambience. Food came out and was delicious! We LOVED the sourdough bread of the sandwich, wow! Def get a sandwich with that sourdough, omg. The potstickers were our 2nd favorite, it was very well-made and crispy. We didn't love the fall pasta, maybe because the "goat" cheese and crumbles tasted a bit funky to us - but we never eat those types of things at home, so we probably just don't like those things anyway. Absolutely excellent food, service and ambience. That's the bottom line summary. It was a gorgeous afternoon and we were driving near Charlottesville on Interstate 64 wanting to enjoy a late lunch. We looked on Yelp and Botanical Fare checked all of the boxes for the place we wanted to enjoy our meal. Though the fare is plant based and I am vegetarian, my wife and friends all really enjoyed their meals as much as I did. We sat outside on their comfortable chairs and table along the pedestrian mall. The glorious day certainly added to our happiness. The Chai latte, iced coffee and cold brew drinks were first rate. Our dishes included the Rainbo Terra, Crunch Cauliflower Bowl (really, really good), and Wanton Nachos. All of our food was brought to us sitting outside by the friendly staff. We were also provided with a large carafe of nice cold water. The food was absolutely first rate-fresh, well prepared and seasoned and nicely presented. The food is 'clean' with no salt, other additives or sauces that mask sins of omission and commission. This is a great casual place for lunch with totally reasonable prices, delicious food and a wonderful location. read more

I was surprised to find a vegan restaurant as part of Charlottesville's downtown walking mall. It has outdoor seating on the mall, although the placement is confusing as it is not the seating that's directly outside the restaurant itself (the different seating areas are labeled). I went for a sort of breakfast bowl that was redolent of the way that Australian cafes work: a bunch of healthy ingredients which have no recognizable connection to any traditional cuisine, but which offer contrast in flavors and textures to excite the palate. This bowl was particularly aromatic, which I attribute to the barbecue lentils. A matcha lemonade was a good choice to wash things down. The bowl was not hugely filling for the money, but a light healthy meal is a worthy find in this town. There were also a few interesting grocery items for sale. read more

We sat outside and ordered the chicken and waffles with the chicken actually being deep fried oyster mushrooms. It had a maple bacon flavored sauce on top. It was very tasty the waffles was crunchy even with the sauce and syrup and the mushrooms were a good substitute for chicken. Quite a gem, near perfect. While visiting Charlottesville we stumbled upon Botanical Fare. This restaurant has a very quaint outdoor seating area perfect for enjoying a meal in small groups, and it also has ample seating indoors. Offering an atmosphere perfect to enjoy your meal and company. Botanical fare has a wide variety of menu options ranging from shareables to sandwiches, to mains, bakery items, and tasty coffee. Most dishes go for around $10-15 and the portions are very decent. But what stands out in Botanical fare is the flavor. Each of the dishes we tried was carefully crafted, with a lot of attention to how different flavors play together. This made it so every bite is a YUMMY experience. The one issue we had at Botanical Fare is that the dishes do not feel well balanced; most of the dishes lack a good source of protein. Overall, if you want to experience carefully crafted flavor profiles, Botanical Fare is an excellent option at the Charlottesville downtown mall. Stopped by here during the Tom Tom festival and was not disappointed. I'm not vegan, but I'm close to it, and I love vegan food. I got an iced chai, and some sort of fruit crumble bar - both of them were KILLER. Iced chai was perfect for that warm afternoon! The food here is just. plain. delicious. I'm neither vegan or vegetarian. Had a good friend in town who is vegetarian and we saw this place was new on the downtown mall so decided to check it out. I got the okono pancake (a play on okonomoyaki, vegan style!) and my friend got the shroom b.l.t. Both were amazing! The okono cake had such great umami flavor. It honestly opened my eyes to how amazing plant-based foods could taste. The cocktail/mocktails were both beautiful and tasty. I got the frozen lychee lemonade and my friend got the dragon fruit mojito. I really appreciate the Asian fruit profiles here - something you don't often encounter in Charlottesville. The interior is just instantly calming. They have some beautiful (and some rare) houseplants on display which require a lot of care to look their best (and they look amazing!). I loved the fast casual concept with the table markers being different types of plants. It was an amazing place to just sit, kick back, and chat with a friend. There's plenty of seating options - from the bar to the window to the back behind a little wall. The people who work here are clearly passionate about their craft. This place is amazing! We are from Richmond and stopped by for brunch after a hike in SNP. I got the breakfast burrito, and my fiancé got the chicken & waffles; both dishes exceeded our expectations! Great depth of flavor on both dishes, and the staff was very kind--always checking on us and making sure we had what we needed. Honestly, we need this place in RVA! Best vegan food in Cville hands down. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but this is the only all vegan, gluten-free restaurant in town. I was skeptical because I remember going to a vegan, gf restaurant with a similar aesthetic and price range in Philly (PS&Co). How starkly different the two restaurants are! Botanical Fare is consistently high quality, great service, and applies their bioethics to social justice issues. I will always support a restaurant who supports people like me, and it doesn't hurt that their food is incredible. All I have a picture of is the kale caesar which slapped and a matcha which, when sweetened, tastes like a creamy milkshake. I have since had the crunchy cauliflower bowl, okono cakes, sweet potato bowl, and, my all-time fav, the mac and cheese (which is now gf!). I've taken vegans and non-vegans alike here and the consensus is that this food is amazing. A non-vegan friend even said that the miso mac and cheese was the best she's ever had. I wish I lived nearby so I could try more of their food! I'm always excited when I find a good vegan restaurant. I ordered the fried oyster mushroom sandwich and loved it. My husband order the BLT with mushroom bacon and my son ordered the mac'n'cheese. I tried both and thought they were great. I loved that their bathrooms were unisex single bathrooms and had cloths to dry your hands after washing rather than using paper or electricity to run a dryer. We sat outside and our order was brought to us. I loved being able to sit on Main Street and enjoy the ambiance. It was a hot day, but we sat in the shade and it wasn't bad. Main Street is well worth the visit, and as long as you're there, I suggest stopping in here for a bite to eat. read more

Fabulous Vegan Cuisine I was recommended this restaurant/cafe by a colleague the week after it opened. She went on and on about the freshness of the ingredients and how it's one of the only true vegan places in Charlottesville. I ordered what the employees described as "the most popular dish on the menu," The Cauliflower Bowl." Holy wowzers... this bowl was delicious. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this may have been THE BEST BOWL I have ever had in Charlottesville. When it arrived at my table 10 minutes after I ordered it, the presentation of the dish screamed MASTERPIECE. Just look at this dish! Sticky rice mixed with veggies and incredibly delicious fried cauliflower. Yum, yum, yum, yum, and YUM! I do not go out of my way to eat vegan, but does vegan food usually taste THIS good? I was also interested in how this restaurant is also a coffee shop up front. You could easily come here for breakfast and some coffee. I will be returning to get some work done at this location.
