Awesome spot. Love the food, decor, friendly service. My kids loved the waffles. Great coffee. Location is terrific as well. We are making a detour on a road trip just so we can go back here next week and try it again! Side note: I also took my baby to get changed in bathroom and appreciated 1) they had great changing table for baby and 2) the bathroom was clean and tidy! read more

Amazing restaurant with delicious vegan food, good service, and inclusive environment. A safe space with fantastic fare. One of our favorites. Worth the stop even if you don't know much about vegan food, you will not be disappointed. read more

Even if you are not plant based (which I am not)... give this place a shot - you will be very surprised and happy with your delicious meal! The flavors were soooo good. Service was great and smooth, and I'll also add that they served us even though we were coming in close to closing time, which was very kind of them. Ambiance was very cute and they sold local art! read more

I loved this spot! If I was closer, I'd end up going here about once a week, it's so delicious. My soon-to-be mother-in-law and I ended up here after some wedding venue touring. We needed to eat after some fun wine tasting and ended up at this charming fast casual spot. You order your food at the front cashier. The menu is filled with incredible vegan goodies. After ordering, you get a number to sit wherever you like and they bring the food to you. There is plenty of seating here so you're bound to find a good spot to sit. Our food came out pretty fast and it was incredible. I ate every single last bite. I adored my roasted sweet potato bowl. The sauce really complimented the entire dish. My MIL loved her bowl too. I tried a bite of the cauliflower and it was divine. There were single stall restrooms at this spot with cute wall art. It's a huge space and a great spot for lunch. I highly recommend coming here for a healthy and delicious meal. read more

We had a wonderful time eating out at Botanical Fare. The staff was very welcoming as soon as we walked in and they had an extensive 100% vegan menu, which is always a dream come true!! We ordered 3 items off their fall seasonal menu - the sweet potato sammie, fall pasta, and the potstickers - and then went outside to their outdoor seating. We loved people-watching in the shade and really enjoyed the street ambience. Food came out and was delicious! We LOVED the sourdough bread of the sandwich, wow! Def get a sandwich with that sourdough, omg. The potstickers were our 2nd favorite, it was very well-made and crispy. We didn't love the fall pasta, maybe because the "goat" cheese and crumbles tasted a bit funky to us - but we never eat those types of things at home, so we probably just don't like those things anyway. Overall, a great experience! They also sell coffee, Rebel cheese, and other take-out options. Highly recommend! read more

We had the corn chowder, all veggie wrap, gazpacho soup and mac 'n cheese. Dining on the outdoor plaza was so relaxing, and the food was perfectly seasoned. Service was friendly and prompt. We seek out vegan restaurants and this is one of the best we've tried. We're traveling and this will be on our return route, definitely! read more

Really incredible place to eat! They have such kind staff, and their food is so delicious. I will say, a lot of their food has an earthy signature flavor, kind of like how beets taste but much less extreme. Which is not a bad thing! And there are options that are more savory or sweet as well, as someone who prefers that savory taste, I usually get the breakfast burrito. It is so delicious! They are very respectful here, and I hope to see more small businesses and vegan food places in this area. They are doing it SO right! :D Keep up the amazing work! read more

Absolutely excellent food, service and ambience. That's the bottom line summary. It was a gorgeous afternoon and we were driving near Charlottesville on Interstate 64 wanting to enjoy a late lunch. We looked on Yelp and Botanical Fare checked all of the boxes for the place we wanted to enjoy our meal. Though the fare is plant based and I am vegetarian, my wife and friends all really enjoyed their meals as much as I did. We sat outside on their comfortable chairs and table along the pedestrian mall. The glorious day certainly added to our happiness. The Chai latte, iced coffee and cold brew drinks were first rate. Our dishes included the Rainbo Terra, Crunch Cauliflower Bowl (really, really good), and Wanton Nachos. All of our food was brought to us sitting outside by the friendly staff. We were also provided with a large carafe of nice cold water. The food was absolutely first rate-fresh, well prepared and seasoned and nicely presented. The food is 'clean' with no salt, other additives or sauces that mask sins of omission and commission. This is a great casual place for lunch with totally reasonable prices, delicious food and a wonderful location. read more

Phenomenal service and food! It's hard to find a place that has gluten free and vegan options and Botanical Fare checked all our boxes. My 2 year old loved that they had a potty just her size during our bathroom break as well. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Charlottesville! read more

I was surprised to find a vegan restaurant as part of Charlottesville's downtown walking mall. It has outdoor seating on the mall, although the placement is confusing as it is not the seating that's directly outside the restaurant itself (the different seating areas are labeled). I went for a sort of breakfast bowl that was redolent of the way that Australian cafes work: a bunch of healthy ingredients which have no recognizable connection to any traditional cuisine, but which offer contrast in flavors and textures to excite the palate. This bowl was particularly aromatic, which I attribute to the barbecue lentils. A matcha lemonade was a good choice to wash things down. The bowl was not hugely filling for the money, but a light healthy meal is a worthy find in this town. There were also a few interesting grocery items for sale. read more

I loved the mood of the place, and the food was delicious as well. I had the lunch combo of Mac N Cheez and a half mushroom sammy, and brought much of the Mac home for later. I'd like to suggest some downtime flavors with impossible meat, like chili or lasagna. That would be amazing and take the meals we loved as kids and allow us the pleasure of those memories. read more

Great, vegetable-forward vegan restaurant with fresh, creative dishes. We loved everything we tried: the shroom BLT and the rainbow terra salad from the classic menu and the cold sesame bowl and the yellow tomato gazpacho from the summer menu. They also have local products available in their fridge which we appreciated, like Blue Ridge Bucha and some local sauerkraut and vegan cheeses. read more

Back again, w my daughters this time, for my elder daughter's bday. Having had breakfast here last time, it was nice to try the evening menu. Once again all flavors ON POINT. My girls were impressed w the presentation of their meals, as am I. Service was friendly, but unobtrusive. The dining area was once again filled with happy herbivores enjoying cruelty-free foods. LOVE the decor & layout (as described in my previous review) .... This is almost a three hour drive so we won't get here often but when we do, Botanical Fare is a must stop for THIS vegan family !! Bit of a surprise here. Not a plant-based eater, but on a whim I ordered the breakfast burrito. Excellent. Tastes almost identical to a regular burrito. The tortilla had a nice crispness, even after a two hour wait via GrubHub. Was good enough that I can't wait to try their other offerings. read more

This location was the only place on the downtown walking corridor that had non diary and gluten free items on the menu. We sat outside and ordered the chicken and waffles with the chicken actually being deep fried oyster mushrooms. It had a maple bacon flavored sauce on top. It was very tasty the waffles was crunchy even with the sauce and syrup and the mushrooms were a good substitute for chicken. Staff was helpful and informative, the outside eating area was busy but inside was quiet and cold ( over air conditioned) All in all I would eat there again! read more

Since our first time here, we've come back so many times. Pretty much every weekend for brunch. The breakfast burrito, avocado toast, and Rainbow Terra salad are all great. Trust me on the salad. I'm not a salad girl. Service is the most consistent and wonderful in the whole town. And being right on the downtown mall in a cute building with character adds to the charm. The decor is so cute. For all reasons, I want to move in. read more

Really great plant based food in Charlottesville! Went with a large group of friends for brunch. I loved the cauliflower bowl. It was umami, sweet, spicy, and satisfying. Quite a gem, near perfect. While visiting Charlottesville we stumbled upon Botanical Fare. This restaurant has a very quaint outdoor seating area perfect for enjoying a meal in small groups, and it also has ample seating indoors. Offering an atmosphere perfect to enjoy your meal and company. Botanical fare has a wide variety of menu options ranging from shareables to sandwiches, to mains, bakery items, and tasty coffee. Most dishes go for around $10-15 and the portions are very decent. But what stands out in Botanical fare is the flavor. Each of the dishes we tried was carefully crafted, with a lot of attention to how different flavors play together. This made it so every bite is a YUMMY experience. The one issue we had at Botanical Fare is that the dishes do not feel well balanced; most of the dishes lack a good source of protein. Overall, if you want to experience carefully crafted flavor profiles, Botanical Fare is an excellent option at the Charlottesville downtown mall. My Criteria 5 stars: The best food I have ever had, or an excellent option given the price. 4 stars: Good food, a restaurant I look forward to trying again. 3 stars: Good food, a restaurant that I am indifferent to. 2 stars: Below average experience, will not go again. 1 stars: This restaurant should be closed. read more

Yummy! Went on Saturday morning. Such a cute spot! I had an iced latté with caramel; I also chia seed pudding and a jam bar. They were both delicious!! The jam pastry was amazing- not dry at all. Great food and service! Yum ! I got the Sticky Cauliflower! A new spot for me to frequent!

Such great flavors and dishes, and I am not even vegan. This is a must restaurant for vegans and not vegans alike. I got the summer beet salad and the street corn. A new plant-based place in Charlottesville (much needed) and a yummy spot for vegans/non-vegans alike! We tried several things on the menu - our favorites were the Wonton Nachos (crunchy, saucy, savory & just slightly tangy) and Hash Browns (crispy with a creamy spicy sauce). Vibe is very casual-but-cool and lots of options on the menu, including the bakery/pastry selection and coffee options available. Good food overall and good energy! read more

The food is really good, especially considering it's vegan. All vegetables but with flavor. The service isn't as good. You have to order on your phone and it felt like the wait staff did the bare minimum to get us in and out. Hardly even a smile. read more

Love this place! Best vegan food (and food in general, to be honest) that I've ever had. It is evident that every menu item is made from the freshest ingredients and specially curated recipes. I love their wide selection of drinks that are readily available for any event or time of day! Not only are food and drinks that amazing but the staff is always super friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is typically very relaxed and comfortable, but they like to mix it up with some fun events once in a while, which I highly recommend attending! The food here is just. plain. delicious. I'm neither vegan or vegetarian. Had a good friend in town who is vegetarian and we saw this place was new on the downtown mall so decided to check it out. I got the okono pancake (a play on okonomoyaki, vegan style!) and my friend got the shroom b.l.t. Both were amazing! The okono cake had such great umami flavor. It honestly opened my eyes to how amazing plant-based foods could taste. The cocktail/mocktails were both beautiful and tasty. I got the frozen lychee lemonade and my friend got the dragon fruit mojito. I really appreciate the Asian fruit profiles here - something you don't often encounter in Charlottesville. The interior is just instantly calming. They have some beautiful (and some rare) houseplants on display which require a lot of care to look their best (and they look amazing!). I loved the fast casual concept with the table markers being different types of plants. It was an amazing place to just sit, kick back, and chat with a friend. There's plenty of seating options - from the bar to the window to the back behind a little wall. The people who work here are clearly passionate about their craft. I loved hearing their recommendations for both this visit (and for future visits). I will definitely, definitely be back and I recommend this place highly! read more

I legit wish I lived in C'VILLE so I could eat here more often. What a cool place--I wish it was there when I went to UVA! Such good food, I got the Breakfast burrito. I was starving so I wish it was a little bigger, but the flavor was incredible. Legitimately the best latte I have EVER drank.... This is not an exaggeration. Get the Oat Milk... smoothest coffee out there! Ambiance is exceptional for a relaxing place to study or just catch up with friends, and the staff was so great fly and helpful. Happy to see plantbased joints like this keep popping up! Thank you! read more

Stopped by here during the Tom Tom festival and was not disappointed. I'm not vegan, but I'm close to it, and I love vegan food. I got an iced chai, and some sort of fruit crumble bar - both of them were KILLER. Iced chai was perfect for that warm afternoon! I saw a lot of other packaged vegan food & drink while I was waiting, so I'll have to come back and try more. The staff were funny & kind, and the place itself was small but cozy, and a place in the back to sit down inside. Can't wait to go back! read more

Best vegan food in Cville hands down. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but this is the only all vegan, gluten-free restaurant in town. I was skeptical because I remember going to a vegan, gf restaurant with a similar aesthetic and price range in Philly (PS&Co). How starkly different the two restaurants are! Botanical Fare is consistently high quality, great service, and applies their bioethics to social justice issues. I will always support a restaurant who supports people like me, and it doesn't hurt that their food is incredible. All I have a picture of is the kale caesar which slapped and a matcha which, when sweetened, tastes like a creamy milkshake. I have since had the crunchy cauliflower bowl, okono cakes, sweet potato bowl, and, my all-time fav, the mac and cheese (which is now gf!). I've taken vegans and non-vegans alike here and the consensus is that this food is amazing. A non-vegan friend even said that the miso mac and cheese was the best she's ever had. Definitely take away their chocolate chip walnut cookie for dessert :) read more

This place is amazing! We are from Richmond and stopped by for brunch after a hike in SNP. I got the breakfast burrito, and my fiancé got the chicken & waffles; both dishes exceeded our expectations! Great depth of flavor on both dishes, and the staff was very kind--always checking on us and making sure we had what we needed. Honestly, we need this place in RVA! The vegan scene in RVA has been a bit disappointing as of late and it would be awesome to have a place like this in town. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Amazing experience start to finish. I went here with a friend the other day and am already looking forward to coming back. They focus on vegan food, but for someone who doesn't exclusively eat plant-based I still think it be good was absolutely delicious. We ordered the nachos, the shroom BLT and the cakes and split them between the two of us, and everything was delicious. The nachos were super yummy and our server brought us some locally made hot sauces to put on top. The shroom BLT was BURSTING with flavor and the cakes were crispy and similarly amazing. Kinda like a hash brown with some creamy Japanese BBQ sauce on top. Everything was presented beautifully and I'm excited to come back!! read more

Fabulous Vegan Cuisine I was recommended this restaurant/cafe by a colleague the week after it opened. She went on and on about the freshness of the ingredients and how it's one of the only true vegan places in Charlottesville. I've been meaning to try it for the longest time, so today I figured I'd give it a whirl. I was not prepared for what I tasted! I ordered what the employees described as "the most popular dish on the menu," The Cauliflower Bowl." Holy wowzers... this bowl was delicious. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this may have been THE BEST BOWL I have ever had in Charlottesville. When it arrived at my table 10 minutes after I ordered it, the presentation of the dish screamed MASTERPIECE. Just look at this dish! Sticky rice mixed with veggies and incredibly delicious fried cauliflower. Yum, yum, yum, yum, and YUM! I do not go out of my way to eat vegan, but does vegan food usually taste THIS good? I was also interested in how this restaurant is also a coffee shop up front. You could easily come here for breakfast and some coffee. I will be returning to get some work done at this location. With a few more visits, I think this place could make my TOP 5 Downtown recommendations list! Please help this new business make their mark on Charlottesville; it deserves your business! read more
