    Fresh Garden Rolls

A definite must try in Cville!! At first I was kind of skeptical because of their average rating, but I was completely blown away by their amazing dry pho. It's not explicitly stated in the menu, so you must ask for it. It's the same ingredients as the pho but without the broth. I got the rice noodles with pork dry pho and it was absolutely wonderful! The rice noodles were super fresh and chewy and the pork was lean and tender! There's fresh cilantro and veggies, as well. The dish was very well seasoned and they give you oyster sauce, chili, and peanuts to season it more if you want. I've never tasted anything so delicious. It's satisfying and so amazingly fresh! The garden rolls were good, too! I like the fish and peanut sauce that Thai Cuisine and Noodle House has more, but the spring rolls here have a chewier rice paper wrap. The pad thai is okay. Wasn't spicy enough though, according to my boyfriend. This restaurant is family owned and the owner is super nice! He was very attentive to our needs and very friendly! He gave good recommendations on the most authentic way to enjoy the dry pho. Will definitely be back again! Good food, good prices, good parking, good service!

I say this with little to no bias - Pad Thai offers some of the best Thai food in Charlottesville. Looking over the other yelp reviews, most of the complaints have to do with parking and the restaurant atmosphere. I will agree with you the parking is limited - there's parking out front, out back, and you can park along the road. It's also located in between two other businesses (one being Beer Run) in the smallest strip mall I've ever seen. Let's talk "atmosphere" - this place feels like you just walked into the owners' kitchen. There is a modest bar to your left and seating to your right. The whole restaurant is run by maybe two or three people, so you may have to wait a little longer for service than other places. However, I actually really enjoyed the feel of the place - a small, independent Thai place not part of a chain and off the beaten path enough that it's never terribly crowded. It will apparently be closed for renovations between October 5th and November 5th of 2014, so I'm curious how that will affect the atmosphere. The food is what really sells this place for me - absolutely delicious. The Pad Thai was sweet, crunchy, and delicious and some of the best I've ever had. My favorite dish is the Drunken Noodle. Fresh ingredients with peppers that are cooked as to still maintain a crunch and a level of spiciness that doesn't cancel out all other other flavors in the dish (a common complaint of mine). They also make a solid Thai Iced Tea, although it was a little sweeter than what I prefer the last time I came here (it was still awesome). Entrees are reasonably priced at $8-13 and the serving sizes may look small but I've found them to be deceivingly filling. Simply put, most of these negative reviews have nothing to do with the food, and as such you should ignore them. My favorite Thai Place in Charlottesville by a wide margin.

    Pad thai craving fulfilled

Parking: Abysmal. Tiny lot and crowded at the front. If it's full, then you have to park out on the street curb. Inside: Dark, but a bit cozy. It's more of a takeout place than a sit-down restaurant. Appetizers: Mixed roll platter was delicious and allowed my bf and me to sample 3 popular rolls each for 10$. Tom yum soup was way too sour for my liking, and the lemongrass.was chopped into round slices that made me unable to eat it. I had to spit them out and take them out of the soup. I prefer little sticks that you can just remove easily. Entrees- My bf's pad thai was sour and not really too full of flavor. My pad numprikpao was good, but the veggies were sliced too large. Some pieces were even still raw. I prefer smaller more edible slices of carrots, bell peppers, and celery. But there was an ample amount of chicken. Not bad but not great either.

    Vegetarian spring rolls to go

I was seriously craving Thai, and the other option nearby was not very good the last time I ordered from there. So, I decided to try Pad Thai because it's relatively close to my place and had decent reviews. I placed an order over the phone for vegetarian spring rolls and Panang curry with tofu. The gentleman on the phone said it would be 20 minutes. Twenty minutes later, I picked up my food and was on my way. I was starving and really looking forward to devouring my food. The spring rolls were okay, a bit greasy, and full of some weird greens (maybe basil?) that do not belong in spring rolls. I hoped the curry would fare better, but that too was very disappointing. The menu said that Panang curry was "creamy curry in coconut milk with green peas, Serrano, red bell peppers, and basil leaves". I love veggies, but there was celery and lots of cabbage in this curry. All of the vegetables were reallly, really soggy, not flavorful, and the cabbage especially added a very weird consistency to the curry. Well, I tried Pad Thai once and never need to go back again.

Decent Thai food at an average price, but fell short of my expectations. Parking lot is basically non-existent so expect to battle over parking at this place. The interior of the restaurant is quite small so it's definitely more suited towards carry-out orders or maybe one-on-one meals. We ordered a mixed appetizer platter with three different kinds of rolls: garden, spring roll, and curry roll. All three tasted quite good, especially the curry roll. We also got a Tom Yum soup as an appetizer, but it was a little too sour for our taste. My Beef Pad Thai was quite a bit of food, but I felt it could have had more beef than tofu given that was beef pad Thai. Overall, my pad thai tasted -good-, but not -great-. For my taste-buds, it was alright Pad Thai but I have definitely had better. Thai Iced Coffee tasted good though! Overall, 3.5 stars.

I came back here again, ordering the same dish, but I definitely enjoyed the shrimp drunken noodles a lot more! The beef in the drunken noodles didn't taste very fresh, and the texture was just too chewy :( The noodles seemed slightly oilier than before but the flavors were perfect. My friend ordered the Crabmeat fried rice, very delicious with REAL crabmeat , not that imitation crap, Regardless, I prefer this thai place over Lemongrass, Thai 99, and Tara Thai!

Still the best in town. Although it is a bit overpriced relative to other Thai food, if you want variety, noodle bowls and more authentic Thai, this is it for Charlottesville. For the 1 and 2 star reviews, I will say that you should not get the Pad Thai or spring rolls....ever, under any condition. Just go somewhere else if that is what you want. Those are the worst items on the menu and some of the worst versions of those dishes I have ever had. The Pad Thai is terrible and I have only had it once after eating there for many years. The more authentic you can get here the better it will be. Steer to the noodle bowls, broths, salads, soups, curries, specials, dumplings, curry rolls, drunken noodles and you will be fine.

The food that is SO GOOD when you are eating it. Food coma and a hint of regret of cleaning the entire plate after you sit back into your car and buckle up. Knocking you out one hour later and your stomach slightly churns from all the oil. Delicious but more oily than normal. Not as authentic as Thai 99, maybe comparable to a novice pad thai street cart chef in Bangkok.

The wonton soup tasted extremely salty and looked dark as if someone put soy sauce in it. This is the first time in my entire life where I tasted bad wonton soup. The won ton itself was great. It was just the salty broth. I make this at home, and it is not that difficult to make. It is supposed to be a simple broth (partly the reason why I ordered it because I wanted something simple). I told them about the saltiness. They tried to make it right by bringing out another soup with a better broth. The pho was just okay but was not as fragrant as expected. I am Vietnamese and make this at home as well. Otherwise, it had everything it was supposed to have. The fried rice was a large portion and tasted better than the other two dishes. Overall, it was a good experience. The service was good. We got seated quickly. The ambiance and decor was vibrant. The bathrooms were clean. I will try other dishes later and update this review.

I liked that their online ordering system had a lot of checkboxes to customize things, but was nonplussed when I pulled out my vegetable soup with the "no cauliflower" option (which they clearly wrote on the container to remind themselves) but which did in fact have a bunch of broccoli and cauliflower that imbued the soup with a sulfurous foulness that I was hoping to avoid. Setting that aside, the rest of my food was quite good. Oddly, their curries are more vegetarian-friendly than some of their stir-fry dishes. I ordered my green curry Thai hot, and they delivered a ferocious dish with no questions asked, and a small sachet of extra dried chili that I didn't need to use for this and so saved for other food. The curry with some aromatic Jasmine rice hit the spot. Some vegetable rolls with very fine noodle threads made for a good snack later. I could certainly see coming back, ordering something different, and getting high quality food.

The chicken itself was tender and good, the broth was far too thin to be a good curry, but the flavor itself wasn't too bad. It was unfortunate that it did not look like the photo, it was missing the red peppers and the basil leaves. The Pad See Ew beef....well, I am a huge fan of this dish and get it every possible moment. This one was definitely not my favorite - the sauce itself was a bit too "fishy" for my taste. The noodles were pretty mushy by the time they arrived and they seemed to be the dry rice noodles (not the fresh ones.). The beef itself, which is a $3 upcharge, was good, though.. So, I would order the curry again and perhaps order a non-noodle dish next time.... but I would order again, with my expectations in check. Also, I would ask for chili paste, soy sauce and chopsticks!
