What an absolute gem it is to have Silk Cafe & Bar in Sparks, I believe it's the best pho in town too. When I walked in to pick up my to-go order (called ahead), the interior of the restaurant made me think how beautiful it was and envisioned enjoying a meal with my friends or family here. I was greeted by some very kind employees and picked up my order. The to-go order comes in a reasonable size bowl that you can eat your pho in, but I used my personal bowl from home (per the photo reference). The broth was truly yummy and made me feel rejuvenated after a long work day the previous night. The matcha lavender smoothie was also a nice surprise, really enjoyed the strong lavender taste and makes me want to try out the rest of the menu. The papaya salad was smaller than i expected but tastes fresh and was a nice sign of whats to come. The beef stew was very flavorful with good amounts of beef and veggies. 10/10! We decided to randomly drop in when we were in the mood for some pho, and we found our new favorite spot! The staff were super friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The restaurant was very clean and offers several different drink options, including coffee, bar drinks, and regular soft drinks. And finally, the pho was probably some of the best I've had in Reno! Since my BF moved here 2 years ago, we've been driving all the way down to South Reno for our authentic pho fix, and we're so glad Silk Cafe & Bar is now open so much closer to us! Their extensive menu includes quite a few options for pho, Vietnamese noodle soups (such as bun bo hue and bo kho), banh mi, vermicelli, and stir-fried noodle and rice plates, as well as an impressive selection of smoothies, Vietnamese coffee-based lattes, and cocktails for drinks. We ordered their combination beef pho, which comes with rare steak, brisket, tendon, and meatballs, fresh rice noodles, and a deeply flavorful, authentic broth that is definitely meticulously brewed for hours. Their com tam (broken rice), which we ordered with Korean short ribs, was also well-made (even better than local Korean spots) and huge in portion. We entered the restaurant and were promptly greeted and seated. First impression of the dining area, was that there wasn't a lot of seating, and that the noise level while fine when we were in there, could potentially get pretty high when more people where dining. Our server was very courteous and and friendly answering any/all questions that we had. We ordered a grilled pork rice plate, sorry I forget how it was worded on the menu. This is easily my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant! Like what?! How did I not come here sooner! We were greeted by such a friendly staff and were seated quickly. The decoration inside is modern and super cute. The food was absolutely AMAZING! Every dish we ordered was perfect. We ordered combination pho (had plenty of meat and was so flavorful), meatball pho for our kiddo (he finished every bit of it), pork banh mi (best banh mi in town, it was stuffed with so much goodies!), and grilled pork rice plate (this was my favorite dish, so delicious that I didn't even save any for leftovers). I walked in to the super clean and welcoming environment. We were instantly greeted and seated at a comfy booth. (There were tables and booths here.) the service was very god as the waitress was super attentive and even gave great suggestions as we asked what some of their popular dishes were. One of the owners even chatted with us for a moment and that was nice to see the face behind the beautiful establishment. We got a little rundown on how they make their super flavorful Vietnamese coffee! It's all in the beans for sure which she said they get directly from Vietnam! I wished they sold the beans there! We tried the garlic shrimp noodles and oxtail pho. Both were so delish! We couldn't even finish them so we asked for them to go and the service was simply great! The oxtail pho came with 5 or 6 "meaty" oxtails and the soup was so good! The garlic shrimp noodles were also so flavorful and the shrimp was huge and plentiful. I wish I tried more dishes but I simply couldn't as I was so full! I hope people visit this establishment as there is great parking, good service, and fresh and tasty food (and drinks)! I did see the bar menu and they have some fun looking tasty drinks so I'd love to try that as well! I highly recommend trying this establishment! I'll be headed back really soon! We had kept seeing the sign for Silk and finally gave it a try. The restaurant was bigger than expected, very clean and presentable. Everyone was very friendly and provided excellent service. The old fashioned was great, I was a bit worried when it came out much lighter in appearance than expected but the flavor was perfect. The calamari is different from most in the area, it has an excellent cook on it and was very tender. The seasoning was delicate. I would definitely get theses again. The street fried rice with grilled pork was exceptional - an amazing smokey charcoal flavor on the pork and the eggs were perfectly fried. My husband got the Wor wonton soup, it was overflowing with goodness. Best wontons I've tried. They were sturdy for wontons and had good flavor. I got the beef stew with rice. I should've gotten it with noodles. It probably would have made the dish overall have more substance. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The food is absolutely amazing. We love Asian food and we have all agreed it is our new favorite. The shrimp spring rolls are fresh and made to order. They are so good and the sauce is delicious. The pot stickers are so good and the popcorn chicken is a winner as well. They are fried and spiced to your desire. My daughter and I both tried the fame broiled pork and rice and agree that is is wonderful. Our new favorite. My husband ordered the beef stew and he loved it. The Silk Café has been on our list to try out and we finally made it in last night for dinner. It's a casual, comfortable , pristine and pretty place. The service from the staff was extraordinarily gracious and kind. Phio was an attentive and gentle-mannered server. We ordered the wor wonton soup, chicken, fried rice, and a veggie pho. I really liked my wonton soup. Besides the wontons, the soup also had chicken and shrimp and lots of veggies (carrots, broccoli and celery) in it, which was unexpected and an extra treat. The broth was clear and delicate, and all the ingredients seem so fresh. Both of us loved the shrimp fried rice as it had a little crunch to the rice grains and great flavor as well (kind of a small portion though for the price). My hubby enjoyed his veggie pho with veggie broth--great for vegetarians! Again, it too had great flavors and a freshness to it and the vegetables were plentiful. It was fairly quiet on a Monday night. We loved that we could have a conversation and hear each other in our booth seats. Grand opening/soft opening day at Silk cafe and bar. We've been watching this newer locally owned Vietnamese restaurant and anticipated it's opening. We were excited to come in today for our lunch date. All staff was friendly and welcoming upon arrival. Simple menu, but it offers something for everyone and is vegetarian friendly. If it wasn't Summer warm today I would have ordered their beef short rib pho, but I know what I'm going to have next time. We started off with the popcorn chicken, a jasmine tea, taro milk tea with fresh tapioca pearls. We ordered the popcorn chicken medium heat and our palates appreciated what the basil brought to the dish. The chicken was not dry nor was it overcooked. I would definitely order this again. We ordered fried chicken rice plate and a grilled pork and shrimp vermicelli bowl for entrées. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection! The crunchy skin and perfectly seasoned, I could have had that by itself. (Their food was that good that I didn't notice my photos were blurry). I enjoyed the pickled vegetables and the fish sauce served on the side. I stole a bite of the hubb's vermicelli bowl; it was deliciously refreshing. We received a scratch off thank you for coming in today and I got my very own Silk glass water bottle. Hopefully the rest of your soft opening supersedes any expectations for today. This place has the best spring rolls I've had in a long time. I would go back just for them, and I'm rarely over in the area. The wrapper was fresh and not at all dried out, the shrimp was perfectly cooked and very fresh, the veggies where crispy, and you guessed it... fresh. The peanut sauce was a delightful addition to every bite, but they also stood so well on their own I didn't need that much. The Pho was also delightful, my only complaint was that I like a more aromatic broth, but the noodles and meat were both excellent (the hunt for my perfect pho in Reno continues). Fellow elite Kevin S raved about this restaurant so of course I had to go! They are just having their soft opening right now but service and food were so amazing that they already have it dialed in! I started with the crystal pearl cocktail-delicious and so refreshing. We shared the spring roll and garlic butter shrimp appetizers-both were great but I could eat the lightly breaded garlic shrimp every day for life they were that good. We also shared the shaken beef-tender, flavorful sliced filet mignon with peppers and onions in a delicious sauce accompanied by rice.
