Amazing. Love finding places that give me that clean and flavorful taste. I have been struggling recently to find a place that doesn't come off too salty. Everyone looks for the rich and heavy handed heat and seasoning but Vietnamese food for me has always been clean, fresh, and absolutely flavorful. I tasted the fish sauce on the chicken wings without it overpowering the other flavors. Chicken skin was crisp, not hard, and it was not drenched in sauce. Perfect. Calamari strips really wowed me. Just enough chew, without being chewy. Each bite delivering the bite of a well-seasoned dish. Also, can I talk about just how yummy the grilled pork in the bahn mi is? I can go on. The Service at Silk was next level good! So kind. We started with the green papaya salad appetizer, it was so fresh with Just the right amount of acidity. Their crispy Vietnamese rolls were unique and an absolute must try! The wrapper is made of vermicelli noodles! So light and flaky, in the best way. Both were awesome starters! My husband got the Wor wonton soup, it was overflowing with goodness. Best wontons I've tried. They were sturdy for wontons and had good flavor. I got the beef stew with rice. I should've gotten it with noodles. It probably would have made the dish overall have more substance. Heartbreaking to write this but - the food was pretty average, to me. I love Asian Flavors - and this just didn't do it for me. We ordered take out and we usually try a bunch of things so we have a couple meals out of it. The Spring rolls were good - but the peanut sauce was not peanuty at all. It was more soy sauce. I didn't get peanuts at all. The Pad Thai was sweet. I asked for medium spice and it was bland. The Popcorn Chicken was blah - and I asked for medium spice again. This place has the best spring rolls I've had in a long time. I would go back just for them, and I'm rarely over in the area. The wrapper was fresh and not at all dried out, the shrimp was perfectly cooked and very fresh, the veggies where crispy, and you guessed it... fresh. The peanut sauce was a delightful addition to every bite, but they also stood so well on their own I didn't need that much. The Pho was also delightful, my only complaint was that I like a more aromatic broth, but the noodles and meat were both excellent (the hunt for my perfect pho in Reno continues). The staff was friendly, helpful, and communicative. The space is cute and welcoming. For my next trip I'm going to get a Bahn Mi, and probably more spring rolls. read more

I've heard so amazing reviews about the food, my family and I had to come check it out for ourselves. The inside is very clean and it's basic but pretty and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The food is absolutely amazing. We love Asian food and we have all agreed it is our new favorite. The shrimp spring rolls are fresh and made to order. They are so good and the sauce is delicious. The pot stickers are so good and the popcorn chicken is a winner as well. They are fried and spiced to your desire. My daughter and I both tried the fame broiled pork and rice and agree that is is wonderful. Our new favorite. My husband ordered the beef stew and he loved it. Food and service were both delightful I happened to catch them on their first day open. I got the black pepper steak which was super flavorful and tender. The spring rolls were well packed and had a sweeter/thinner peanut sauce than I'm used to. But it was delicious and paired well. I ordered the pork chop rice plate with pickled veggies ( cabbage and carrots). I enjoyed the meal. I wanted to point out, the pork chop is very well marinated, it's spot on. It's very savory. I didn't add any fish sauce to the pork chop. It's not needed. I used it on the rice. I liked their in-house made pickled cabbage and carrots. Its acidity is perfect, not too sour. Taro milk tea, I asked for less sugar, with boba, turned out good. Just the way I wanted. Not too sweet like most boba places in town. Grand opening/soft opening day at Silk cafe and bar. We've been watching this newer locally owned Vietnamese restaurant and anticipated it's opening. We were excited to come in today for our lunch date. All staff was friendly and welcoming upon arrival. Simple menu, but it offers something for everyone and is vegetarian friendly. If it wasn't Summer warm today I would have ordered their beef short rib pho, but I know what I'm going to have next time. We started off with the popcorn chicken, a jasmine tea, taro milk tea with fresh tapioca pearls. We ordered the popcorn chicken medium heat and our palates appreciated what the basil brought to the dish. The chicken was not dry nor was it overcooked. I would definitely order this again. We ordered fried chicken rice plate and a grilled pork and shrimp vermicelli bowl for entrées. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection! The crunchy skin and perfectly seasoned, I could have had that by itself. (Their food was that good that I didn't notice my photos were blurry). I enjoyed the pickled vegetables and the fish sauce served on the side. I stole a bite of the hubb's vermicelli bowl; it was deliciously refreshing. We received a scratch off thank you for coming in today and I got my very own Silk glass water bottle. Hopefully the rest of your soft opening supersedes any expectations for today. If flavor had a headquarters in Sparks, it might just be hiding inside Silk. I'll say it straight: this is the most delicious Vietnamese food I've had in Sparks, and it's making a very convincing argument for being top-tier in the greater Reno area too. Vietnamese cuisine already sits at the top of my personal food pyramid, and Silk somehow climbs even higher. We kicked things off with the Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls, and right out of the gate, BOOM, these things set the tone. The veggie mix is dialed in perfectly, and the dipping sauce? It's like your favorite version went off on vacation and came back with better stories. Familiar flavors, but layered with something extra you didn't know you needed. Then came the Pan-Fried Pot Stickers. These tasted like they were crafted in-house with actual care, not pulled from a freezer somewhere. I'm no dumpling detective, but they felt unique, in a "where have you been all my life?" kind of way. The Popcorn Chicken deserves its own spotlight. Light, crispy, and paired with fried basil that somehow elevates the whole experience. Add the spicy seasoning and suddenly you're in flavor overdrive. Crunchy, aromatic, just plain fun to eat. For the main event, I went with the Beef Stew with rice noodles. Imagine pho's heartier, slightly thicker cousin who still knows how to keep things balanced. The beef was tender, the veggies held their ground, tender, but not overcooked. The whole bowl just worked. Throw in the fresh basil, a squeeze of lemon, and some jalapeños, and it brightens up like a Truckee Meadows sunrise after a storm. My wife and daughter both went with the Rice Plate and chose the grilled pork. Easily some of the best I've had. Personally, I'd probably lean toward the Grilled Meat Vermicelli (Bún) next time. That's just my lane, but there's no wrong turn here. Even the marinated veggies, which are often just plate decoration elsewhere, were actually worth eating. Imagine that. They've also got an updated takeout menu with even more options than what's floating around online, so there's still a whole lineup left to explore. Bottom line: go to Silk. Be adventurous. Order something you wouldn't normally pick. Their subtle twists on classic dishes make you want to come back and try everything on the menu like it's a personal quest. The staff was friendly, prompt and gave suggestion. I haven't reviewed in a while. New restaurants around Reno seem to be phoning it in with gimmicks and mediocre food. Thank Chúa for Silk. Silk Café & Bar is located at the Northwest corner of Sparks Boulevard and Prater Way. There is an abundance of available parking. Upon entering, we were immediately met by our server who directed us to a table. The ambience is open, modern with an Asian feel. The restaurant is extremely clean with booths on either wall and two or four person tables throughout the middle area. We decided to order the Thai coffee and a Tiger milk tea along with our appetizers, the green papaya salad, and pan fried potstickers. Our food came quickly, the salad was extremely fresh, full of flavor and very good, the potstickers were also full of flavor and very good. Our entrées arrive shortly thereafter, the Shaken Beef which is made with filet mignon was perfectly prepared, the steak was medium-rare, the vegetables were crisp, the flavor was amazing. The chicken Pad Thai was also prepared perfectly, the chicken was tender and full of flavor, she said it was one of the best she has ever eaten. I started with the crystal pearl cocktail-delicious and so refreshing. We shared the spring roll and garlic butter shrimp appetizers-both were great but I could eat the lightly breaded garlic shrimp every day for life they were that good. We also shared the shaken beef-tender, flavorful sliced filet mignon with peppers and onions in a delicious sauce accompanied by rice. We ordered the Beef Ribs Pho and the Oxtails Pho. Both of them were excellent! The soup had a refined flavor, and the beef was tender and plentiful. I forgot to take a picture, but the Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls was also amazing. This is definitely the best Pho Restaurant I've ever had in Reno. The staff were very kind and friendly, and inside of the restaurant, even the restrooms was sophisticated. If you want to eat Vietnamese food, you should come here! read more

We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. The service impeccable. The restaurant looks clean and fresh. Perfect amount of food on the menu. Not overwhelming, yet what you'd expect in an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. We had the crispy Vietnamese roll. It came out hot and was very crispy. Very flavorful. We also ordered the banh mi which was delicious. Very authentic and flavorful. The Vietnamese stew was excellent. The prices were very reasonable as well. I can't wait to go back and try the pho as well as some of other things on the menu. Very nice to see a great restaurant like this in our community! read more

I finally checked out Silk, the new Vietnamese inspired spot in town. The name made me curious, and honestly, it feels more like an experiment than a fully committed Vietnamese concept. We went for the beef phở (phở bò), Vietnamese beef stew (bò kho), and vegetarian phở (phở chay). The beef phở was a mix of hits and misses. The broth had a nice color but leaned salty. The rare steak was thin, tender, and on point, but the meatballs were oversized and oddly shaped, and the brisket was tough. The egg noodle option felt unnecessary it did not add anything and pulled the dish away from authenticity. The bò kho was heavier than expected. Traditional beef stew is usually lighter and aromatic, but this version was thick and fatty. Potatoes were undercooked, though carrots were fine. The beef itself was tender but lean, likely chuck instead of shank, so it missed that rich, melt in your mouth texture. The vegetarian phở also arrived with egg noodles for some reason. The broth was fine, but some toppings felt out of place. Celery in particular stood out as odd, and the herbs were sparse and not particularly fresh, like they had been prepped in advance. Service had a few hiccups. Ordering in Vietnamese caused minor miscommunications, and the in restaurant menu differs from what is online. The décor is clean, modern, and recently updated, but nothing extraordinary. Even a slightly crooked wall painting hints at small oversights. One modern twist that might bother purists is the lack of self serve sriracha, hoisin, and chili sauce. You get them on the side, but you cannot control the amount yourself. The team clearly wants to bring a contemporary Vietnamese experience rather than a straight up replication. Silk shows promise. There are highlights, like the rare steak in the beef phở, but inconsistencies in broth, meat, noodles, and garnishes mean I would not rush back regularly. Worth visiting if you want a modern take, but for classic Vietnamese flavors, stick with your local phở favorites. read more

Horrible wonton in the wor wonton soup, like a hard piece of rubber, and definitely not house made. We toss them. I would remove it from the menu before the next major complaint. Quickly seated by friendly staff and very prompt service. Food was awesome. Got the spring rolls and popcorn chicken for the table. Both were 100% what I expected and wanted. Super good. The peanut sauce was a 10/10 for me. The chicken was pretty good, I couldn't try the higher spiciness cause my girlfriend cant handle her spice. So I'll find out soon if that's just as delicious! I ordered a pork Bahn mi and it was hands down the best I've had out here. Crisp and fluffy bread, delicious pork inside. The beef broth that came with it was fire ! My girlfriend kept stealing it and eating it. Girlfriend got a beef plate and it looked delicious, she said it was a 8/10. She's pretty picky with Vietnamese food, so I think that's a win! If you are staying at the casinos, do yourself a favor and take the 15-20 minute drive out here. It is absolutely worth the trip for some of the best flavors in the area! The beef was incredibly soft, and the broth had that perfect, deep, savory flavor you look for. * Beef Stew: This was a standout. The broth and bread were excellent, but what made it special was the addition of tomatoes, which added a unique and delicious twist to the traditional stew. * Egg Rolls: These are a must-have. I ordered from Doordash Tuesday and got the rice plate with the bone in pork chop, garlic butter prawns, popcorn chicken, kimchi and steamed veggies. As I was unpackaging everything the smells had me drooling, and I couldn't wait to tear into everything. The rice plate with the pork chop was absolutely amazing and full of flavor with the fresh pickled veggies as the perfect bite, it didn't need an ounce of the sauce served with it. The garlic butter prawns were another flavor bomb, no sauce needed. The popcorn chicken, it was good, but the sauce helped. The kimchi great flavor but spicy as hell, almost too spicy. Steamed veg, well it's just steamed veg. Today I ordered again and I got the pepper steak, crispy viet rolls, the shrimp (yes again) and the kimchi (hoping it was a bit milder, lol, nope) Pepper steak = Amazing Shrimp = Same as above The rolls = Amazing I do wish you could order a side of the pickled veg and the kimchi to be milder but that's about it. For only being open a week this place hits and is spot on, I can't wait to see how they progress, very excited for them and their future. Just found this awesome Vietnamese restaurant. We had fresh spring rolls, chicken pho soup, grilled meat vermicelli and a Tsing Tao beer. All portions were generous and the food was fresh and delicious! The restaurant is spotless and the ambiance is relaxing. Our servers were friendly and helpful. Didn't have a cocktail, but everything coming from the bar looked bright, cheerful and yummy. The bar looked like it is full service. They have an extensive boba tea and coffee menu. Pho comes with just one type of meat option per order or you pay more for combination. The broth has a nice flavor to it, not oily and has decent amount of meat. Vermicelli Noodle dish with grilled pork comes with fresh salad greens and cucumber. The pork has a nice flavor and tender which my husband enjoyed. They also do not have a combination option. The place looks fresh and clean, well lit and has soft music playing. We do not agree with the restaurant charging extra if you pay with card so better bring cash. This place is definitely on the high-end in pricing compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in town.
