Good selection, but the slabs are scattered haphazardly. Many were grouped randomly, and it is very hard to see the slabs that we are interested in as smaller pieces were stacked in front of the ones we were interested in. None of the slabs were labeled as to the name or type, much less the price. More than half of the lot had tiles in crates in poor shape, most of the crates seem to have broken down from the weather. The Indian gentleman, we believe the owner, who helped us does not seem to know the granite or quartzite that we are interested in. He seemed a little tired, although we were the only customers there. read more

Having never purchased or researched marble and granite before I was happy to find SVG through Yelp. All reviews were great so I decided to check them out. We were greeted by Sridhar and he was very nice and patient with us. We asked a lot of questions and he gave us additional information we wouldn't have known to ask. Most importantly was, when we found the Emporador Dark marble slab we fell in love with, that it would not be suitable for a kitchen since marble doesn't hold up well to scratches and stains. I'm pretty sure other salespeople wouldn't have shared that info and would have gladly sold us the wrong material to make the sale. I only say this because I did encounter a salesperson at another location we went to after checking out the stock at Silicon Valley Granite who tried to do just that. Shridhar was kind enough to let us take a sample with us which was essential to our decision. Many other places didn't have samples which made things harder. Anyway, after checking out all of the granite stores on Junction and Rodgers in San Jose, we decided to work with Sridhar and made an appointment to come in with my fabricator the following week to pick out our slab. Once there, he pulled all of the available slabs of the Emporador Dark to let my fabricator and I pick out the best one for our project. Loading and payment were easy and we were on our way within a short amount of time. I also appreciated seeing the stone in the natural light as the first time I saw it, it was raining and cloudy, which can alter the look but we were convinced it was the right color choice. The only bummer is that I couldn't find the perfect slab of granite for the kitchen but that's not his fault - he had a huge selection - I'm just too picky! Reasons I plan to work with Sridhar and Silicon Valley Granite again and to refer him to others in the market for his products: * Huge selection of materials from granite, marble, pavers, pre-fab counters and vanities. * Outdoor "warehouse" allows you to see the stones in natural light. * Great prices. * Ready for immediate delivery. * Convenient location just off Hwy 101 in San Jose. * Excellent service. And, most importantly, they are HONEST! I should mention that although I initially walked on the lot with my husband, I went back to make the selection and purchase on my own (the fabricator showed up after a while) and was never treated "like a woman" or felt taken advantage of. I ordered a bathroom vanity counter top from Silicon Valley Granite. Quality of finish was poor. See picture of the backsplash which did not go to the end of the wall. In addition, Sridhar added $300 to the price he had originally quoted for delivery. It had not been disclosed when he bid. A small 30x22 bathroom vanity countertop (using Caesarstone) ended up costing 900. The quality and fit and finish was not even close to that price. It was a mistake working with this company. Much like the other reviews of SVG, I had an excellent experience. We literally walked his entire yard 10 to 15 times on two different occasions. Sridhar was there the entire way giving us every bit of detail about each slab and helped us match the color of our stone for our outdoor kitchen. We finally decided on a leather finish slab that we were really happy with. Sridhar is also incredibly honest and you won't feel like he's trying gauge you on pricing. We were able to negotiate a price that was fair for him and us. We did not get the fabrication work done from him, but I'm sure it's top notch. I selected quartz slabs from MSI website and requested Sridhar to order them for me (as he is also the dealer for MSI) and then Fabricate it for my kitchen. When the underlayment was ready for the cook top side and sink side, Sirdhar's team cut the template and promised to cut the quartz in a week's time. Exactly a week later a team of 4 came and fixed the quartz counter top and the backsplash in 3 hours time. To my amazement I could not find a joint any where, a perfect Job. The pre-fabricated granite is near the entrance. All of the slabs of granite are in the back of the lot. I think this place has the largest selection of granite out of all the places that we've been to. The granite is stored outside as this place does not have a warehouse. The slabs are very unique. I've never seen some of the granite colors and designs at other places. It's hard to track down a salesperson for to get a quote. Just hang around the building area, and someone will help you. Unfortunately, this place ran out of the verde butterfly slab. We asked for a quote for the volga blue granite. Prices were a bit higher due to the slab. Labor costs were also higher. Our quote did not include the installation of the sink and the removal of the old tiles. Every additional request costs more. Good place to just admire unique granite and the most extensive selection of granite. read more

The granite I found here was beautiful! I was looking for something special and found it here. They also did the fabrication and install. The pricing is good and the service is excellent. After a new kitchen cabinet install, they came in and made templates. They came back 4 days later and installed with the most care to get things perfect. I had a granite backs plash which they caulked to match the color of my walls. They cleaned up the granite and sealed it that day. The granite installers did an excellent job and I would definitely go back. My biggest concern was the under mount sink and the proximity to the bar. They took my sink with them and cut the sheet metal, modifying it to fit perfectly and allay all my concerns. read more

No "showroom" just a yard full of slabs - quartz, marble, Granite, quartzite and more. Best selection that we have seen and at great prices. Granite shops close by 4pm so my wife and I, who both work Sun - Sat full time, have to wait for a divine miracle when we can both shop together. Today that miracle occurred and we had about 90 minutes to hit 3 granite shops. Our first stop: Silicon Valley Granite.There were no other customers and the attendant was kind enough to show us his field of granite. The first thing that I noticed was... no prices! How strange. So I explained clearly that our budget was for $1000/slab or under and he agreed to point out all the slabs $1000 and below. We carefully looked over each piece he pointed out, about a dozen. After we'd settled on one of those that we really liked, he raised the price to $1,100! I'm sorry, that just turned my stomach. Then he got a phone call and totally stopped helping us. We just left. We found the perfect piece at Daltile Natural Stone. My suggestion: -- Feature photos of all granite samples online with prices, and keep it updated -- Have each slab marked with price per square foot and slab price -- Fire the current attendants and replace them with honest robots read more

For the last two projects we've used Silicon Valley Granite. Great selection, displayed well., and jobs done quickly--3-4 days rather than 1-2 weeks. The prices are very good. If you want granite counters, just stop by... you will thank me later. I just finished installing two granite counters (and backsplash) that I got from SVG. In my case, I am very much a DIY person, so I showed up with my luan template in hand, selected a beautiful pre-made counter, (9 ft) and had them fabricate two pieces from it. The fabrication was first rate, even down to embedding reinforcing rods (under the slab) around the sink cutout. They polished everything very well, especially for the undermount sink, and cut everything exactly like the template--even made it 1/16 undersize for the captive counter, so it could be positioned without tearing up the wall. All in all, very nicely done. This place has a vast selection of granite. If you just want a counter or two, it is best to go with the pre-made ones since they already have the edge bullnose installed--an otherwise expensive operation. These guys are happy to just sell you the stone, fabricate, or measure, fabricate, and install. The selection is great, there is no sales pressure, the fabrication is first rate and the stones are priced very well. I did not want to buy stones from one place and have a third party fabricate for fear of "Senor, Jose broke your slab, so sorry." This is not a chi chi place, there is no pretension, and the prices are quite reasonable. I have seen cheaper pre-fab granite, but the quality was not at all comparable. read more

They were also willing to do special orders and if the granite didn't meet their specification and quality, they advised me to send it back. Not only did Sridhar give me a good price, Marco came out to make the template and a few days later came out with Jesus, on a Saturday, to install the countertop and did an absolutely fantastic job.
