I stopped into Signature Desserts to order a birthday cake for my daughter. This is the second year I've ordered from Signature Desserts, and we were not disappointed. The cake was marble cake with Almond Bavarian Custard, and buttercream frosting. The three layers of marble cake were wonderfully moist. The Almond Bavarian Custard had a nice, subtle almond flavor, and the cake tasted better the next day. The buttercream frosting was smooth, and not overly sweet. The decorating was beautifully done. My husband ordered Lady Locks and brownies from the counter when we stopped in to pick up the cake. He loved the Lady Locks, and brownies which he warmed up to eat with ice cream. Friendliest bakery I've ever been to on a while. I have been to many bakeries over the years. I can remember as a kid most bakeries would give a kid a free cookie. Most don't know but they still do that here. Most have lost that loving feeling and have gone to the way of corporate America. I have been to this bakery several times and the staff are welcoming and nice. I've had everything from cookies brownies pies and cakes. Everything tastes amazing and fresh. They even have a table for day old baked goods that are almost free. They are still good for sweets with coffee or tea. Wrong cake received for baby shower! Don't use Signature Desserts. Ordered and paid for a 1/2 sheet cake for my daughter's baby shower. Cake was supposed to be a white cake with strawberry buttercream. When the caterer cut the cake - the cake was chocolate and white with raspberry jelly filling. Completely wrong! The Winnie the Pooh design was subpar as well. My daughter was devastated! When we contacted Signature the next day- they only offered a 50 percent refund for their mistake! I was shocked! I have had numerous desserts from Dorido's Restaurant. Ever single dessert tastes like MORE! I had to go to the source because sometimes one slice is not enough when it tastes so good. I muscled all of my will power and only brought home a coconut cream pie. The pumpkin lady locks were calling my name but I was steadfast. Then the various cheese cakes were ever so tempting with their different sizes and makes. I could have made a cheese cake flight but I digress. Yes I went from Washington, PA to this lovely establishment located off of Route 88/Library Road. They have a parking lot located off the road with ample spaces. Cute small customer area to oodle the baked goods. I did call ahead to make sure they had more than one pie. I could have paid for it over the phone but I like to live dangerously. So with pie to be had with dinner I ventured back home. Look at the attached pictures! The pie tasted better than at the restaurant. The whipped cream was perfect. The little bit of toasted coconut on top tasted great. The filling of coconut cream was packed with coconut and the texture was dense with creamy goodness. The crust is their to support this goodness and not over power it. The crust adds a bit of texture and seems to be a Cisco-ish crust. I can't wait to return and buy more. My cake was delivered for my daughter's birthday without her name on it. There is a large blank space that anyone with baking experience would know to write the name. It was supposed to be Raspberry Almond. . There was approximately an eighth teaspoon of raspberries. No Almond flavor. Linda had texted me a picture of the cake top .. I immediately responded "her name will go underneath?" in which I didn't receive a response. I ordered 5 dozen parfaits, 5 different kind. I also texted Linda what kinds did I order, no response. They were delivered without them being labeled which was which. It took 4 people 20 minutes to figure it out while my guests were leaving without dessert. I texted Linda asking for a refund of the cake. After 2 hours... yes 2 hours of her ranting on like a child, she refused. Typical of a person who is very controlling. Their own manager agreed with me the parfaits should of been labeled. We weren't impressed with them either..dried up cake with a tiny spoonful of topping ontop. If I could give Signature Desserts 10 stars, I would. I was throwing a surprise birthday party for my husband and the theme was Lord or the Rings because he's a nerd. Many bakeries never would have taken the time to work with me in creating an amazing cake for this occasion. In fact, I contacted another bakery first and they were only willing to screen print a picture onto a cake for $15. My experience with Signature Desserts was completely different. I talked to the owner on the phone for about 30 minutes while we both looked online. As we planned the cake, she texted me what she had in mind and even ordered little figurines of some characters! When I went to pick up the cake, I was blown away. It was even cooler than I thought it would be! It said, "Happy birthday, Doug" in English AND Elvish! It was so beautifully done that while it was an expensive cake, I definitely felt like I got more than my money's worth. At the party, no one wanted to actually cut into the cake. It was almost painful. When we finally did, it was worth it because like all of the cakes we've gotten at Signature Desserts, it was delicious! People were raving about how great the cake was! Not only was the cake delicious but the staff was fantastic. I live out of town and called to get a cake for my parent's anniversary party. They let me email them pics and worked with me to get something I would like. I added a set of cupcakes and when I got there they suggested a little added touch to coordinate them with the cake and it was such a nice little touch that made it very special. This is such a wonderful bakery. I called with only a weeks notice for a speciality cake and they were so nice and accommodating. On the phone the person walked me through all the favors and sent me pictures of cakes which were like what we were discussing. Turning in another fatal masterpiece, the Death By Chocolate cake contains an aphotic ganache cap, a chocolate buttercream icing, devil's food batter, with Ghirardelli chocolate chips armoring the sides. Also ordered were a baker's dozen Tuxedo Strawberries. Coated in white and dark chocolate, the fat, beating fruit-hearts were a veritable squadron of decadence. Furthermore, the sterling customer service bears mention. My mother ordered an 8 inch cake, but when she was mistakenly given a 10 inch, she was only charged for an 8 and given a few extra strawberries. I fully intended to buy something, and was making that final, life-changing decision between cupcake, or brownie. Then, I saw it: a horsefly, buzzing around inside the case. It landed on some cookies. I pointed it out to the (large, overweight, short haired brunette. She just chuckles, and said it's hard to keep them out with the door frequently opening. Okay. Understood. She opened the front case window, but the fly refused to leave, zooming in on some other treats. I couldn't look anymore. She shut the window.. She never pulled that tray out! We had a yellow gluten free birthday layer cake last Friday. The chocolate butter cream icing was amazing and the decorations for a snowman were the cutest. I was disappointed in the actual cake layers it was very dry. I will continue to shop there in the future maybe it was a 1 off. read more

This place provides the desserts for Bob's diner locations. Upon their recommendation I decided to check it out. It is very easy to miss when driving since it is located in a tiny strip mall on Rt 88 in Castle Shannon. Upon entering there was a vast array of cakes and cookies. They didn't have too many desserts just for a snack. The lady who waited on me was helpful. I asked about the various cakes. Almond torte is my favorite. All 8 inch cakes sell for $21.00. I looked over a small array of take out desserts. You can get your traditional cookies, brownies, small fruit pies which sell for $2.50, edible mousse cakes for about $3.50, or what I settled for was a sour cream cherry slice for $1.00. I noticed behind me they have a station where you can order wedding cakes. I was told that whatever I buy needs refrigerated so I bought a couple of these cherry slices, picked up a brochure and left. Ate one of them in the car. It was fresh and literally to die for! The other I took home for later. Reviewing the brochure I brought home I can see that this place is a bit costly but again you are paying for it. They do carry a lot of cakes I did not see there but they can be special ordered. The brochure reads small cakes or tortes serve 8-10 and cost $21.00 as I previously had noted. Large cakes serve 15-20 and they sell for $33.00.They even sell various cheesecakes for $25.00 that serve 12-16. They also do party and special miniature pastries. The brochure does have a freshness guarantee and a limited refund policy as spelled out on the brochure. I would advise anyone who wishes to order from them to check out the brochure so that you would be completely familiar with their offerings. I was pleased with my purchase and will keep them in mind should the occasion warrant it. read more

I used them for my wedding cake and dessert table. Let me tell you, beyond impressed. I ordered a three tiered cake with an intricate design, 5 addtional 8 inch cakes for the dessert table, and 8 dozen cookies. All of this, including delivery and multiple consultations was under $500!!!!! I was so happy with my dessert table, everything turned out absolutely beautiful, like out of a wedding catalog!!! I have been buying my husbands birthday cake here for years. It's good, and I like to support small businesses. I called on a Monday for a Friday pick up of a simple, small cake. Yellow cake, whipped cream icing, raspberry filling. I didn't even need decorations just Happy birthday. Not a big deal, right? They told me I can't order this simple cake, I can only order one of the cakes on their menu "as is" with no changes to it whatsoever. Since when do I need over a week for a small simple cake? And why can I special order a complicated menu item for them to supposedly make fresh for me but not a simple birthday cake? They have no cake my husband will like "as is" because they put almonds or coconut on the whipped cream cakes and apparently not putting this crap on the cake makes it too "special" to handle. He doesn't like the overly sweet butter cream, and the last time we got tiramisu it was flavorless and kind of stale. So I guess this is one birthday tradition I'll just have to throw in the trash. Also they have some of the worst cupcakes I've ever had. Worst icing ever. My mother asked for grocery store ones instead. I really liked some other things at this bakery but it's not special enough to be so discerning about what they will and will not make. The lady on the phone was pretty snotty too. I was too surprised to ask her why she can make speciality cakes to order but not simple ones. But I guess how dare I try to order the same cake I've been ordering for years over a week before a holiday. (Ps his birthday is always the same and never was a problem before ). If it was about the time to make it I'd understand, but it's not because they're perfectly willing to make me one of their more complicated cakes. Although the "buy for home" version is 2 layers as opposed to the 3 layered version available at the restaurant, it is exactly the same. Signature's is just an ok, average place. My husband and I went to Signatures's for our wedding cake and desserts. When we went to meet with one of the owners, one of the first things she did was brag about how much business they do and she also bad-mouthed a local restaurant/brewery right down the street because they don't do business with her anymore and she literally stated that she "makes enough money and doesn't need them." I understand if you want a customer to know that you are experienced and capable, but she clearly doesn't understand how to to relay that info in a professional manner. After that we did try some of the cakes and cookies and decided to use them for our wedding needs. Mainly because of timing and we just wanted to have that part of the wedding planning settled. The day before my wedding, however, the owner called me and as soon as I answered she immediately went on a rant about how ridiculous and downright rude our florist was and how she just needed to tell me this. She literally said to me "Who does she think she is and who is your florist anyway?" She didn't have too much to say after I told her that our florist was my fiancé's grandmother and I wasn't going to let her just trash talk her like that to me. Totally unacceptable. This was all because our "florist" simply asked if she was able to deliver the cake a little earlier than we planned so that she could decorate it with some flowers that we had talked about. I know this woman and I know that she did not call the owner and demand anything and I know she is not a rude person. I completely understand where the owner was coming from when she explained that she didn't want the cake to sit out for hours and the integrity of the cake would be compromised. Although she was told that the cake would be refrigerated and not just sitting out in warmer air. Again, I understand the owners concern and I don't disagree, but the way she handled this was absolutely ridiculous. To call a bride THE DAY BEFORE her wedding and go off on some rant is downright rude, extremely unprofessional and immature. This woman has no concept of how to carry herself in a professional manner. So all that she accomplished that day was stressing out a bride to be and making herself look absolutely ridiculous. The cake was decent , the desserts were good I guess and the cookies were average. Nothing was extraordinary. I've also heard this from other people as well. Do yourself a favor and look into other reputable bakeries. I personally would not use this company again because of how rude, arrogant and unprofessional this woman was. My company ( very well known ) was going to place a very large order with Signature Desserts last week for an upcoming event but decided against it after numerous employees here complained about their customer service skills and how the owners treat their customers. Such a shame since their buttercream icing is really good. I stopped coming here because their party cakes are extremely underwhelming. The decorating and piping looks like a toddler did it. We have had such an amazing experience planning our wedding with this company and their customer service goes above and beyond what is expected. Finding a bakery that was accommodating and truly cared about their customers needs is huge when planning a big event. We wanted someone who valued us as customers and treated us as more than just another booked cake, and this was the perfect choice. We had to make huge adjustments to our wedding plans due to COVID-19 and have had to reach out to every single vendor we have hired. I buy something from Signature at least once a month. Everything I've ever had from there is great. But no more!! After buying 2 items ($43) that were a little awkward to carry, I asked for a bag. I was told there'd be a 50 cent charge! I just spent $43 on a cake and a tart and you're going to ask for 50 cents for a bag to carry YOUR products!!?? So insulting and offensive. The girl that worked the counter is very nice and I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable,so I didn't say anything to her. 50 cents is no big deal, it the point! Bad bad business!! We ordered a chocolate cake for my wife's late mother's day celebration. When we cut into the cake we found a vanilla cake with custard between the layers and grocery store icing. If I could give Signature Desserts 0 stars, I would. We entered into a contract with Signature Desserts for a two-tier decorated wedding cake, two half sheet cakes, and eight dozen cookies pick-up 10/24/14, one day before our wedding. On 10/24, we arrived at the bakery to find a very poorly decorated cake. The cake was supposed to have a piped or printed rice paper monogram on the top layer. Instead, it had the letters in crooked, rolled fondant that looked like play dough. In response to my dissatisfaction, the decorator said she would fix it with a printed rice paper monogram. Instead of using the electronic copy I emailed the bakery, she made a copy of a copy of the monogram, printed it on rice paper and carelessly cut it out and put it on the cake. The ragged edges were visible, and I again shared my dissatisfaction. In response, she said she could put a "delicate" border around it to hide the edges. Instead, she comes back with it framed in a crooked, thick birthday-cake like border. At this point, I was now behind schedule driving two hours to my wedding destination to decorate before my rehearsal, so in spite of my dissatisfaction, I had no choice but to take the cake as-is and left. In the interim, however, another bakery assistant mentioned that she scored our sheet cakes to 50. I had emailed and called the bakery asking that they be scored to 40. So, we had to ask the assistant to smooth and rescore our sheet cakes. Distressed, I failed to check our cookies, which I later learned were not as ordered. We ordered 8 dozen sugar cookies with white icing and pink sprinkles. Instead, we received cookies with pink and white sprinkles, much less fancy/professional looking than ordered. Dissatisfied with my experience, I called the bakery on my drive to the wedding destination seeking to speak with the owner Linda. I was told she was not in yet but would be shortly and would return my call upon arrival. Linda did not call. I had to call her over an hour later, at which time she told me she heard I was unhappy and would not deal with me as an emotional bride now and would work with me after the wedding. To date, we have not resolved the issue, as Signature Desserts only offered a small refund. read more
