I have had two experiences with Le Cupcake Shoppe. One is their delicious mini gluten free cupcakes. Thank you for making them an option! I can't wait to see if they do more GF options in the future (wink wink) and two I ordered hot chocolate bombs for Christmas for family. I actually did the whole process on instagram if you can believe it! The owner seems to be the most communicative on that platform. She answered me right away with any questions I had and once I was ready I just paid via venmo. The process was surprisingly super simple. The pick-up process is curbside only right now. I tried to call when I showed up and no one answered so I just went up and knocked on the door. The owner peeked her head out and then quickly brought out all the hot chocolate bombs. The hot chocolate bombs themselves were very good! You can honestly tell the chocolate is good quality. You just pour hot milk over it and the bomb pops open to release marshmallows. So fun! It was rich and flavorful and I'm already thinking of when I'm going to order more! read more

This vendor never once explained her policy. Never once asked for a deposit. Never once asked me to sign a contract or talk in the Shoppe. She claims that because the cake was simple she didn't see the need. She decided to cancel my cake 3 weeks before my wedding because I asked to pay a deposit and and the rest the day of. Never once did I say I wasn't going to pay her for the cake. But just as it's in her right to be paid it is well within my right to ask that the cake is what I wanted before spending money on it. Again I would of signed a contract, paid a deposit, given her a credit card to hold. But she did not ask for any of that. This is an example of poor communication. read more

After many hours reading reviews of bakeries in Pittsburgh- I decided that this was the one. I was planning a baby shower from out of town and wanted a naked cake- I received a phone call back within 24 hours and was very confident that the cake would turn out just as requested. The cakes are made by hand and the variety of filling options were amazing. I initially requested a naked cake but they took their time explaining the difference between naked/some frosting etc to achieve the look I was going for. The pricing is phenomenal considering all of the time and effort that goes into each cake. My cake turned out even better than I imagined and all of the guests were complimenting on the great flavor. When your bestie's birthday plans come together in a New York minute and Gluten Free is a must, the options [outside of the East End] are limited in the 'Burgh. The good news is, my colleagues had the hilarious pleasure of listening to me call 12 bakeries yesterday in search of GF baked goods, and cheered when the search was finally successful. I called Le Cupcake Shoppe and left a message assuming I wouldn't hear back that day, but owner Alex called me back almost immediately. As luck would have it, she had just filled a GF catering order and had an overage. Her minis are ADORABLE and delicious. My husband and I stopped yesterday afternoon and although there were some that were sold out, we were still able to pick up a dozen for $10. Each one is adorably decorated with some packed with some type of filling. Our favorites were the Rice Crispy Treat cupcake and another named Beauty and The Beast ( my personal favorite). We cannot wait to try some others. Definitely goin back. 3-22-17: 2nd visit and I got to meet the owner. She was so nice and we even shared a love of our pups. I was elated to see that they had DOGGY CUPCAKES! Took one home to by Buddy and he absolutely loved it! Beauty and the Beast still my very fav! Note: CASH ONLY! Last week, I spotted a new business on Capital Avenue, and at first glance it appeared to be an ice cream parlor. However, it turns out that someone decided to open a cupcake specialty bakery a few doors up the cobblestone road from the famously overrated Fiori's Pizzeria, and the interiors are akin to a pink poodle; small and excruciatingly cute. Women will most likely love the place as well as the keen designs of the cupcakes themselves which range in size from regular to miniature. Le Cupcake Shoppe also sells cookies, cakes, and other assorted pastries, but aside from some cake pops that the person behind the counter (the owner?) threw in for free, they only had cupcakes for sale at the moment. I took home bountiful baker's dozen of the micro cupcakes and a few of the normally-sized variety. They included the following: Red Velvet, S'more, Chocolate Potato Chip (!), Hot Chocolate, French Vanilla, and I cannot recall what the others were called at the moment. All of them were adorned with either a cream cheese icing or a buttercream. Some of the cake portions were a little on the dry side but most were up to the usual par of richness, and each of the icings of course made the cupcakes sing, hitting every sultry, velvety, dulcet note. The Hot Chocolate, my personal favorite of the batch, had a chocolate buttercream with sprinkles and a small marshmallow on top, evoking wintertime comfort personified, solidified. Although none of the others were duffers, an honorable mention must go to the expectedly brilliant salty/sweet smash-up of the winged Chocolate Potato Chip cupcakes. Aloft on golden wings of deep fried, ridged, mass-produced tuber, they fluttered into my beak like moths to a smoldering campfire after sunset. Cake Pops, like cupcakes themselves, are not typically something I crave, but the chocolate one had an irresistibly fudgy quality (was that fondant?) to it that had me wishing for more. Let's pray to the confectionery gods that Le Cupcake Shoppe sticks to the neighborhood like their treats did to my palate. read more

I stopped in here Friday for the first time and it was so cute! The woman that helped me was kind, personable and friendly. There were so many different flavors to try that I had a hard time narrowing it down! I tried the Warm Brown Sugar and the Milk and Cookie, and both were good. The icing was a little stiff from being in the fridge, but the cake was decently moist. Stopped in for my first time today...I was a little disappointed with the lack of choices. They had no cake pops or large cupcakes and a limited variety of the mini cupcakes. I was also a little disappointed in the flavors. All were heavy flavors, no lighter flavors like the key lime, lemon or orange that the website advertises. I bought a dozen minis and they were good, some of the cake was a little on the dry side, but good. The owners were really friendly and nice. This family owned shop is not only professional but extremely reliable,accommodating, flexible and friendly. This girl is a mother, an entrepreneur and a beautiful woman inside and out. I live in the north hills of pittsburgh and drive the 30 minutes to her shop before all of the other closer local options. This past spring I found a new little Le cupcake shoppe on Capital Ave. I stopped in one day to just see what made them so special. I was greeted with a smiling face Alex and she was so anxious to show me all the varieties of mini's she had. I took home a dozen and boy was this a treat to me. The salted caramel is my favorite but everything I have got there is always delicious. The cake pops are to die for they were a big hit at my nieces grad party and they were very moist inside and decorated so cute. Ordered the 8' cake for my mom's bday (almond cake with raspberry sauce). I literally could of eaten the entire cake by myself it was also very delicious. Alex greets all of her customers with a big friendly smile. She has worked very hard to get where she is and I can tell she will be around for a long time.
