There was never a complaint when I asked for something to be done the way I wanted it (example was lining up the tile seams on the wall with the seams on the floor). Just make sure you are there for them and communicate exactly what you want. 2-way communication is key to success with any contractor. One stand out situation that was handled well was a mix-up in the grout color between wall and floor. To their credit, the installers asked me what the colors should be before going ahead with the install. Good thing they did since the documentation had them swapped. If they had not asked it would have been a disaster; but not because of them. Thanks for confirming. Scope of our project was 2 full baths (new: tile, vanity, counter tops, lighting, mirrors, ventilation fans, shower doors), dinning room (new French Doors), 4 bedrooms (with closets and new ceiling fans), wood flooring (replacing carpet), and crown molding throughout. House age is 27 years. Location: Rockville Town Center. The result was a completed project to our liking on time and within expected budget. Quality of the work is very good. Workers don't smoke, show up on time, are pleasant to work with, sealed off our living space from dust, cleaned up every night, and get the job done with the minimum of disruption. Plumbing had to be replaced and reconfigured to move it from the right well to the left; we wanted a bathtub to replace the ancient standing shower; it took us forever to pick a vanity; we wound up choosing hardware that required specialised installation & nothing in that bathroom had been updated for about 20 years. Austin, Moira & Carlos at Kingston guided our selections, problem-solved as issues came up, kept up a steady flow of communication & all in all, delivered a gorgeous result for a reasonable price. Moira, the Director of Operations, was especially instrumental in translating our hopes into reality. What we had when this project started was a tired, leaky, non-functional butter yellow & turquoise late 70's/earlyspace with a useless dividing wall that made the room look smaller then it is. After about 7 weeks what we had instead was a beautiful modern bath with sharply contemporary hardware, a soothing grey color scheme with gleaming porcelain tiles, annoying partial wall removed & an elegant, deep bathtub that surprisingly fit into the small amount of space we had to work with, our starkly modern design scheme *and* our budget. The construction team was good about keeping us up to date about schedule changes. They were polite & professional & took good care of our home while they worked here. We're planning our next project.. The kitchen.. & Kingston is top of the list of companies we'd consider for the job. He said that he couldn't give me a picture of what the finished design would look like and that I would have to drive to the office to see that because I could take the design to other contractors. I just don't think this is a nice way to talk to potential customers. I told him that previous contractors had sent pictures, and asked him to even send a picture pencil/ paper just to show me where things would be and such. I honestly don't understand why that was a problem. He said that other contractors would not send me designs with projects (aka calling me liar). I asked for a manager I was told there was no one. I called later and asked to speak with a manager and I was told that there wasn't one and he wasn't authorized to even tell me the name of the manager. Hopefully this saves someone from leaving work early to meet with Russell who won't give you an idea of the finished project until you drive to their office which is definitely some type of sales tactic. Really disappointed in these guys.
