If you are looking to furnish an empty space, stop what you're doing and at least set up a call…read morewith the Splendid & Swanky team. For background, I have no interest in interior design and have no business spending real money on furniture I know nothing about. But I found myself in a situation where I had nothing for a space that had to be smartly utilized. And I wanted it to be beautiful. Was this really the time to experiment with Pinterest while spending thousands of dollars? & I needed the furniture to last long enough that I wouldn't have to think about this again for a very, very long time. I also needed to buy everything during a pandemic, when everything was delayed... So I turned to an option I never had considered before - hiring interior designers. I had heard great things about this team and wanted to explore sourcing this huge project out to them. It's a pretty simple process. You go to their website and fill out an intake form that introduces yourself and the project. Then they'll sell up a virtual call to meet and discuss your style, and budget. Then they came and looked at the space, took measurements. Then they pitched a proposal. From there you have to make some decisions. They are going to present you with options that may be outside of your budget. This is where we gotta grow up a little and recognize that if you want nice things, this is how much that actually cost. I was happy to increase my original proposed budget to get what I needed. But there were some peices that I wanted to spend less on and they quickly came back with lower priced options. They were very adaptable there. With that, they placed the order! Over the course of the next few months, the furniture started arriving. They work with a contractor who you can hire (through them, they handle all the admin work) who can assemble, hang, etc do all that work for you. They even came over to make sure everything was hung in the right spots. There is a science and art to design that they are factoring into every decision for your space, and it's worth their fee to get all your nice new furniture all in the right place. They look for beauty and functionality in every detail of the space. So now I have this gorgeous dining room [photo provided]. Our guests are blown away whenever they walk even towards the space. It's exactly what I wanted when I described the target ambiance to the team. Beautiful, relaxed, warm, stylish. I can't tell you how happy I am with my experience with Splendid & Swanky and the confidence it brought me about my home. If you're able to, whenever you're able to, hire professionals to do things you can't do well. It'll always be worth it. Here is the proof.

Bring in Rebecca Quandt Ineriors. My hubby and I hired Rebecca for some consultation on our one bedroom apartment. We moved in over a year and half ago and still haven't seemed to put the place together. Rebecca came over to take measurements and created some amazing 3D drawings of our apartment. And I mean the ENTIRE apartment. Details included pictures we had on the wall and decor on our tables. It really helped us understand what our place would look like before vs. after. She suggested 2 options to layout our apartment and gave us specific measurements for us in regards to furniture we want to replace as well as the new area rugs, drapes and lamp shades. Rebecca offered to help us pick out furniture and when we declined to save $$, she still offered up some websites to check out as she could still help get us a discount. Rebecca was even willing to stay in touch with me as we picked out a couch and coffee table at no extra charge. Little questions like "will this fit because your dimensions didn't allow it?" she answered promptly. When we even picked out the couch we wanted from The Sofa Co, I sent her a picture and asked her if the price we were given was average to similar couches. It turns out she was able to find us the exact couch we wanted for a fraction of the price!!!! I mean, that alone paid for her services plus SAVED US OVER A GRAND!!!!!!! I'm still waiting on our coffee table and area rugs to get delivered next week but I cannot wait to take some after pictures to post!!! I would highly recommend Rebecca's services for the greater LA area for anyone needing interior design assistance and will definitely be using her in the future when we move into a larger home!

The first one was so successful, that when we had an opportunity to do another, she was our first call. And still the best remodeling decision we've ever made. We were able to "see" the vision and confidently show every detail to the numerous contractors that each needed something different. We highly recommend (10 out of 5 Stars) her as a collaborator in your next remodel or new build. Her attention to detail and experience always ends up saving us headache and ultimately money, while we get the vision we always wanted. Thank you Rebecca for all of your wonderful creativity and kindness during the process. Looking forward to the next time we can work together!!

From the time we contacted Joy things went smoothly. Joy listened to what we had to say when we first called her then showed up with a plan that incorporated our ideas with her expertise. Joy used mood boards to help us visualize the plan and updated them frequently with our preferences. Joy took care of all scheduling of contactors and ordering the supplies. She was also easy to contact and really kept us updated during the entire project. I think her fees were a great value and well worth it. She had some really great ideas we would never have thought of. The final product was a wonderful combination of what we were looking for and what really worked. Just top notch work. We are so happy with the final result. I can't even remember what the old bathroom looked like now. We will use Joy for our next project for sure and highly recommend her.

Eye roll. What a clown show. Well here's the update that I promised, unfortunately it's not in the direction I was hoping. I got an immediate response to my review below, with multiple requests to remove the review. I stated that I was open to updating or removing it, if things improved, and we ended up having a couple positive meetings. So much so that we elected to continue to work with them on the next phase of the project. So over the weekend (Sept 12-13), they sent us the contract for the next phase. We signed it and sent over the requested payment. I was hopeful! I was mentally drafting a positive update to this review! On Monday I received acknowledgement of receipt of the signed contract. Immediately following that, I got an email that said, and I quote "Before we can resume, please remove the Yelp review so we can start fresh and have a positive experience moving forward as we help you with your project." Guys, my jaw DROPPED. (My husband sent me a simultaneous "WHAT THE F***" text lol) Let me reiterate, we had signed the contract, sent the payment, and THEN received an email saying they wouldn't begin the work until a brand new condition had been met. We were completely floored. But okay, I thought, benefit of the doubt, the guy that sent that email has the position of junior assistant on the website, maybe he doesn't realize that what he's doing - withholding work that has been paid for unless we meet a new requirement that we never agreed to - constitutes a word that rhymes with shmextortion. So I responded that this requirement is unethical, inappropriate, and possibly a breach of contract. I gave him every opportunity to walk it back, and then reached out directly to the firm owner to verify that this was in fact the position that Bitarchitects was taking. The only response I got is that we can terminate the agreement, so that's what we did. To their credit, they processed the refund relatively quickly. So yeah, I don't know. I can only speak to my experience, of course. The other positive reviews indicate that other people have had better experiences with them. But this all does make me wonder if other reviews have been manipulated in a similar manner. So caveat emptor I guess. Because I fully expect they will respond and try to spin this in some way that makes me look like I'm the unreasonable one, I'm attaching screenshots of the actual email exchange (just the initial exchange, because the junior assistant started texting me after that email and it went on for a while, until I went back to email to contact the owner). I was not living in the DMV area when we started the project so they did a great job of communicating remotely during the design process. His architect, Darren and interior design team, Christina Simon, took samples of things we liked and found ways to integrate them into the house. The property has so many cool features from finishes, to a basement apartment, gym, and a roof deck. It's a 4,400 sq foot house but feels like it's 6k. Rob, Jim, and team are very particular about how things are done. If something doesn't look right, they are going to have it corrected properly and they did. From building for energy efficient, print labeling everything ( low voltage, electrical, was, gas), to managing the draw schedule, they really focus on the little things during what is a very stressful experience. After moving in, they ensured punch list items were attended to. Unfortunately, we had to relocate for work after a year but the focus on details and quality allowed us to get top dollar for our property. Having now bought another newly built home only further highlights the unique focus on service and quality building of Zimmermann homes. Wish I could have had him build my house out west.

It's the second house I have built with Rob and his team in the last 4 years and this experience was even better than my first one in 2018. Zimmermann Homes continues to improve its operations continuously, whereby the customer remains first and foremost. Building together over the past 12-18 months had several challenges, primarily supply chain issues, most of which were entirely out of our control. However, Rob and his team worked even harder to source substitutes that were just as good or as timely as the initial selections we made for the design of the house. As someone who visits dozens of newly constructed homes annually, I am very aware of the quality and pricing of the competition facing Zimmermann Homes, so when I say that you can't beat the "bang for the buck", I'm confident that it's true. The quality of the architectural structure, design, construction, and home efficiency are truly unmatched at the price point offered by Zimmermann Homes. More than anything, Rob and his team are really good to work with. It's expected that things will go awry at some point in building a custom home, whether it's a schedule delay, design issue, permit snag, or selection that is out of stock. Recognizing this, Zimmermann Homes is creative dealing with such issues and they do whatever is necessary to minimize disruption and stress for the home-owner. Rob has built an incredible business for home construction in the Northern VA area and I can't think of a better company to work with when building a home. He has put together a team of experts that seamlessly work together so that issues are resolved quickly and most of the time it is done behind the scenes, making the customer's experience much better. I would be remiss if I didn't give shout-outs to the members of Rob's team. Darren is amazing at helping you design a home that works for your individual needs, while being very aesthetically pleasing to the eye, both inside and out. Christina and her team are the best in the business when it comes to the color schemes and styles, making your budget go as far as possible with the selections for appliances, tile, cabinets, countertops, and lighting. Finally, Jim J. is a savant when it comes to managing the overall project and making sure that the customer gets exactly what he/she wants, at the highest level of quality throughout. His attention to detail will always amaze me and any other customer he has ever had. I couldn't be happier with the final product. Friends, family, and neighbors that visit are amazed at how well it came out, especially during a worldwide pandemic. I could not endorse Zimmermann Homes more highly. They are the best at what they do. When I build my next house, there is no doubt that I will ask Rob and his team to work with me again! - The Scardino Family (again), Arlington, VA

They did both large built-ins and some smaller things -- as well as expanding a closet entrance and replacing our doors. It was a great experience. The real walnut features are fantastic. Randy Parz made several design suggestions that made the project much better. Callie was amazing with the scheduling and communications ! We were so happy that when it was done, instead of buying a media sidetable, we asked Randy to do one custom for us! _______________________________ We bought a condo near Dupont Circle that seriously needed help. We had just sold our LARGE house and moved to the Virgin Islands....but wanted something in DC for visits back North and hiding away in hurricane season. We had used a design consultant on the house and decided to try it with the condo. The only problem was that we were from NYC and didn't know anyone in DC. So we went on the Houzz website where we found an excellent review for Kiera Kushlan and Jessica Centella (Residents Understood) and interviewed both them and two other possibles. They seemed not only to have good design ideas, but were also professional and VERY organized. Our building is a bit retro and after several discussions we decided on something mid-century. After the planning and drawings, we were so comfortable that we asked if they would oversee the work while we were away for the Winter. They did so. In the end, we also re-did the bath -- which they also advised on. And at each stage, if we felt something was too expensive or just not what we wanted, they found great alternatives. Very good communication. They knew contractors (who were great) and delivered a final product that we are thrilled about. It was probably cheaper than doing it ourselves in the long run because there were contractor and supplier discounts and because it went so smoothly. Perhaps we are used to New York prices, but their fee seemed extremely reasonable. It is hard to find people with good ideas who can actually EXECUTE the plan from start to finish. This was a great experience ! Although I rarely outright say this -- I would recommend them to a friend without reservation.
