If you are looking to furnish an empty space, stop what you're doing and at least set up a call with the Splendid & Swanky team. For background, I have no interest in interior design and have no business spending real money on furniture I know nothing about. But I found myself in a situation where I had nothing for a space that had to be smartly utilized. And I wanted it to be beautiful. Was this really the time to experiment with Pinterest while spending thousands of dollars? & I needed the furniture to last long enough that I wouldn't have to think about this again for a very, very long time. I also needed to buy everything during a pandemic, when everything was delayed... So I turned to an option I never had considered before - hiring interior designers. I had heard great things about this team and wanted to explore sourcing this huge project out to them. It's a pretty simple process. You go to their website and fill out an intake form that introduces yourself and the project. Then they'll sell up a virtual call to meet and discuss your style, and budget. Then they came and looked at the space, took measurements. Then they pitched a proposal. From there you have to make some decisions. They are going to present you with options that may be outside of your budget. This is where we gotta grow up a little and recognize that if you want nice things, this is how much that actually cost. I was happy to increase my original proposed budget to get what I needed. But there were some peices that I wanted to spend less on and they quickly came back with lower priced options. They were very adaptable there. With that, they placed the order! Over the course of the next few months, the furniture started arriving. They work with a contractor who you can hire (through them, they handle all the admin work) who can assemble, hang, etc do all that work for you. They even came over to make sure everything was hung in the right spots. There is a science and art to design that they are factoring into every decision for your space, and it's worth their fee to get all your nice new furniture all in the right place. They look for beauty and functionality in every detail of the space. So now I have this gorgeous dining room [photo provided]. Our guests are blown away whenever they walk even towards the space. It's exactly what I wanted when I described the target ambiance to the team. Beautiful, relaxed, warm, stylish. I can't tell you how happy I am with my experience with Splendid & Swanky and the confidence it brought me about my home. If you're able to, whenever you're able to, hire professionals to do things you can't do well. It'll always be worth it. Here is the proof. read more

Love these guys! They did a really nice job staging my townhouse. Was able to sell really quickly and for a great price, and I think the staging had a lot to do with it. Very nice and knowledgeable, and a great value for the quality of the work. Actually wish they had set up my house before I moved in! Highly recommend! read more

I hired Splendid & Swanky to remodel my bathroom and they did a fantastic job! It is the only bathroom in my condo and is small so I wanted it to feel bright and fun while having a good amount of storage. Newsha and Nahal understood my vision and made it reality, with the proposed design fitting into the aesthetic of my condo. Newsha and Nahal were very professional. From the start they clearly communicated the steps in the process, discussed with me about my budget and needs, and met the deadlines we had agreed upon. They were very open to comments on the initial design but I had very few because it really reflected what we had talked about! During the remodeling stage, they took care of liaising with the contractor and kept me very up to date on the timeline and progress. If any of our plans needed tweaking during the remodel, they clearly laid out options and asked for my input before making a decision. I absolutely love how my bathroom turned out and would highly recommend Splendid & Swanky for any of your remodeling or interior design needs. I would happily work with them again on my next project! read more

We really loved our experience working with Splendid & Swanky. They first staged our previous home for sale and did a lovely job integrating our existing furniture with fresh new options that really helped seal the deal. Once we moved into our new townhome, we needed help rethinking our previous style with the shape and dynamics of our new place. Newsha and Nahal were terrific, providing clever approaches to integrating our old furniture with new pieces and lighting that really showed the new place off at its best. What we appreciated most was their communication and collaborative spirit. We've worked with designers before who had no idea of what good customer service looks like, and we were delighted to have such an engaging and creative collaboration with these designers. They did push us a bit out of our comfort zone with some choices, but THEY WERE RIGHT. Some furniture we weren't sure about turned out to be the biggest hits in our new decor, drawing tons of compliments from our friends when they came for our housewarming. We'd work with Splendid & Swanky again in a heartbeat! read more

Highly recommend!!! It was our first time working with interior designers and we couldn't have been happier with Splendid and Swanky. They were extremely professional, responsive, answered all of our questions, and made the whole process go as smooth as possible. During the design phase, they really took the time to listen to our vision and then used their expertise to turn that into a reality. They're very transparent about pricing, timelines, and how the project will look (they provided us with renderings prior to ordering anything). Additionally, their contractor did great work especially with the minor final details which is where a lot of contractors fail. We're incredibly thrilled with how our apartment turned out and our experience working with them! read more

I cannot express how grateful I am to S&S for all of their help throughout the past year. I needed help staging a property for sale and they went above and beyond to get it done beautifully and efficiently. Needless to say, the house sold well above asking. It made me realize proper staging adds so much value to a home. I was so impressed by them, that I decided to have them come to my personal residence and make it pop. They transformed my house into a true sanctuary. I feel like I live in a brand new place, and truly get excited to come home everyday!! I cannot thank them enough. Both Newsha and Nahal have a knack for style that is unprecedented. They were so easy to talk to, and really engaged me to get a sense of what I would love. Instead of combing through thousands of stores, websites and brands online, they were able to narrow down the best items and bring it all together in an amazing package. I recommend them to any and everyone. Their staging services will help you get higher value for your real estate. Their design services will make you fall in love with your own home all over again. We had a 1 star experience with this design firm and their 2 owners. We hired them this past summer as we were wrapping up home renovations and needed some interior design help. We spoke to them on the phone, and they made one in home visit during the renovation. At the outset, we were excited to work with a DC-based, minority-owned business; however, we had some concerns that their designs are usually for staging houses for sale rather than for families who intend to live in the space and want the space to feel like them. We attempted to convey this our initial meetings and they assured us they have experience in both. Their first design review was not to our taste at all, we gave feedback on their suggestions, noting that we wanted our home to feel welcoming and not sterile or staged, without much success. In addition, when we went to West Elm to see the couch they suggested, we learned from their design specialist that most of the proposed pieces are West Elm, with a few pieces from CB2. We also learned that the same pieces would cost less if we purchased them directly from West Elm, which strikes us as odd given that they offer designers discounts. We could have simply used their free design services, rather than work with a firm that did not take our feedback into consideration. However, we wanted something more welcoming and unique and when 80% is from one store and they claim the rug "is the most unique piece" and not admit it is also yet another piece from West Elm. When we provided this feedback and expressed how the design feels to us, their response was not one aimed at figuring out what we want but rather that we only have one review left because they texted us a few pieces as options as the "second design review." The response also made us feel as though they don't have a real desire to work with us or to take our tastes into account when making design proposals. We did not see the benefit in going through another round of review to end up back in the same place, especially after we were told the artwork we like was not to their taste. The scale of our renovation was very large, so we were willing to spend money on a designer, but we were strained to understand what work has been done to justify their design fee. We asked to terminate our contract, as we would not be using any of their suggestions and did not feel they wanted to work with us in anyway. The most difficult part was not just that we did not agree on the pieces but the way they spoke and treated us never made us feel like the clients, but instead that they were doing us a favor. They refused to terminate and after trying to continue with them, unsuccessfully, we came to an agreement to break contract and they offered to refund us only half of the design fee. My wife and I agreed to this as we could not see moving forward with such an unprofessional team with a very simple and basic design vision. We really believe for the level of work and time they put into our design they should have refunded us much more, if not all our money. We now have spent a lot of money and got not a single piece of advice or design for our home. I do note they have all 5 star reviews, but please note that most of the reviewers have only left one or few google reviews overall, and this should make you question their validity. We wish this was a success, as many friends we know have had great results with interior designers, unfortunately we did not have a good experience at all with Splendid & Swanky. read more

Even as someone who makes interior design a loved personal hobby, I was overwhelmed by the prospect of furnishing and decorating a new six-bedroom home. What I especially did not have patience for was measuring the various spaces and timing the furniture delivery. That's where Splendid & Swanky really came through. Not only do they have a great eye for sleek and warm home designs, they are incredibly thorough, professional, and delightful to work with. And, they are great at taking feedback. Overall very impressed with the final product. I asked for Nahal and Newsha's services for two areas in my condo as I had run out of ideas on what to do. I had already partially furnished the living room area on my own and the loft area was a full design request. They did a great job finding items to complement the current pieces in my living room area and completely transformed my loft area into a beautiful space, based on samples I had sent of what I envisioned the spaces to looks like. Communication was seamless throughout the entire process and overall took about 3 months from initial evaluation to completion of the design. Overall very impressed with the final product and highly recommend their services. read more

Thank you to Newsha Talebi and Nahal Robertson at Splendid & Swanky for designing my dream home office. I have been working from home 100% of the time since March. I wanted a tranquil and bright space to come to every morning where I could be inspired and focused. I felt like they were in my head and knew what I wanted. It wasn't easy getting all the pieces we wanted in the middle of a pandemic and with so many things sold out, but they made it happen. They are so hard working and professional and have great vision. I have had the pleasure of working with Newsha and Nahal on several projects, and its been a great experience. Being a GC myself I have always looked for the right partnership to help service my clients, and meeting/ working with both has been a real joy....all my projects were delivered on time, they handled all the material logistics and made sure they were onsite for us to start, customers were all very happy, and projects were delivered on schedule. What more can you ask for from a great design team partnership? Their hands on approach, flexibility, and ability to adapt is a great trait as well. I will continue to work with them on future projects, and highly recommend them. Siddhi Patel Owner Twiga Construction read more

I recently hired the Splendid & Swanky team to decorate my living room and bedroom. The layout is somewhat unorthodox which made it challenging to think through it myself. Thankfully, they were brilliant in suggesting ways to maximize the space. In addition, they provided suggestions on furniture, light fixtures, rugs, color and wall decorations which really highlighted both rooms. I would recommend them to any potential clients. read more

Nahal and Newsha are the dream team!! We are in the process of a complete renovation of our bathroom and these ladies have been with us every step of the way. We are in such good hands! Their design is impeccable and exactly what we were looking for. It was as if they read our mind! Renovations can be stressful, but they've removed so much of that stress and anxiety. They were able to move so quickly and get the design done and the material ordered so quickly... I can't imagine what it would have been like to do this renovation without them! I cannot wait to see the final product! Cannot recommend them enough! read more

This team of women is incredible. I knew Newsha personally prior to engaging their services and quickly got to know Nahal through our consultations. If it weren't for Newsha I would not understand or embrace the necessity and beauty that is brought by incorporating plants into fundamental design elements throughout the house, and wouldn't have taken chances on bold plays like a dark, moody and captivating charcoal ceiling. Nahal has also really impressed me right off the bat. Her ability to quickly get to know me and my family's design preferences (before we even knew them ourselves) has set this company apart from other designers I've worked with (2 prior) From our first Zoom meeting to all the countless texts, emails and calls in between, she has been extremely professional and calm amidst my interior design storm. They both bring a level of sharpness and eye for style that is impossible to create on your own. I've been creating my dream home with the insight of these beauties. It started with our master redesign but I literally want/need their advisory style and consultation services in every room in the house. Beyond impressed. What's even more compelling about working with them is that they were able to do this all virtually - I'm in SoCal so neither of them have been able to visit my space in person. They patiently have guided me through how and what to measure, and have coached me with product placement throughout the journey. At no point have they made me feel silly for existing design choices in our house either (whereas others have definitely made me feel self conscious about prior choices). 10/10 recommend.
