    My new couch!

    TL;DR: In-store customer service is great, post-purchase follow-up and delivery, not so much. I love my couch--it's crazy comfortable and soft while still looking really sleek and modern. The chaise option we got is something we can switch from right to left if we ever move, which makes it super functional. Price points were comparable with Room & Board and similar brands. I recently purchased my first home, and wanted my first adult sofa. I LOVE my couch. It's the nicest-looking and most comfortable couch I was able to find in a month-long search at every store possible, Hudson & Crane had several of the most comfortable choices-and by far was the most customizable. Jayne was phenomenal, and if I could give her ten stars I would. I love my new couch and the rad fabric I was able to choose for the pillows and upholstery. Jayne followed up a day or so after delivery to make sure I was happy, and overall the in-store experience was fantastic. Jayne was great about not only giving us time to make a decision (we came back a second time after being unsure our first visit) but also not only remembered us on sight, but remembered our fabric color choices and was just exceptionally kind in helping us figure out our perfect couch. I don't know if they get paid on commission, but if they do a single couch isn't going to make or break her, but she still made us feel valued and never pressured us to buy more, upgrade, or use their design services. (Although she did go over all the services they offer, and if I could have her design me whole home I would!) The only hiccup/reason I'm not 100% thrilled/satisfied with Hudson & Crane has to do with the delivery. For starters, unless you take their floor model, everything is custom and takes 4-8 weeks to ship. So even though we went with a standard fabric and a slightly different shade of grey than the floor model, we had to wait two months. After those two months, we hadn't heard from Hudson & Crane and called to follow up & schedule delivery. The two people we talked to (not Jayne) gave us conflicting information on where the sofa was and when it would arrive, and were a bit rude/accusatory when I tried to clarify what I had been told and when I could expect delivery. One of the two women I spoke with was almost angry, demanding to know who I had talked to (as though I was lying and making up sofa stories?!) All in all we got our sofa delivered, but if the exceptional customer service we had experienced in the store had been replicated throughout the process (perhaps if they had initiated a call to update us/schedule delivery instead of our having to do so and then being told conflicting information) this would have been perfect!

    Jaye Langmaid, and his entire team at Hudson & Crane (major shout out to Tucker, in particular), is an absolute interior design GENIUS. I gave him carte blanche control over my living and dining space in my new condo, and he went far beyond exceeding my expectations. His taste is absolutely impeccable. (You think you have great taste. Until you see his.) Beyond his unimpeachable taste, Jaye is an absolute dream to work with. The whole process -- like the final product -- is seamlessly curated. From my very first meeting with Jaye in my space, he wanted to know exactly how and why I planned to use the space. He helped me to understand what styles, colors, moods I like. And then...just like that...he went above and beyond in delivering to me a final product that I could not have dreamed up in a million years. Jaye is collaborative (which makes his clients feel heard and understood). But, I think even more importantly, he will (so incredibly gently and politely) save you from yourself (when you need saving...and you probably do!). I would encourage everyone not just to hire Jaye, but also to let him do what you hired him for -- to take the lead, to make the hard decisions, to design the space. If you trust him to do that, you will be amazed what he will deliver to you in return. In addition to doing everything (and more) that I originally asked of him, Jaye also used his superior contractor, Charlie (who built me the most lovely breakfast nook seating area), to cosmetically enhance my kitchen. I originally had plans to eventually demolish and re-do my (originally very sad) kitchen. After Jaye/Charlie got done with that space, it's one of my favorite spots in my whole place. (Um...that just saved me more than $50K.) I already have hired Jaye to take on my master bedroom. I can't wait to see what he dreams up for me!

    Jaye and Tucker are THE BEST!! They singlehandedly transformed our entire house. They are brilliant, creative, kind, funny, and - most importantly - they really GET you. They have a way of understanding your style and translating it into a perfect space for you. I don't know how they do it, but it is truly an art. Also, getting down to brass tacks: their design work, plus the gorgeous custom furniture they select, will cost you the same as if you bought your furniture at C&B or similar. I never knew design work could be within my reach. Don't get me wrong, I love those stores - but we wanted our house to reflect us. We started with our basement - an empty white space with a wet bar. We wanted a place to watch movies and hang out with friends to listen to music. After pinstriped wool felt wallpaper, the comfiest couch and chairs ever, a dining space and a bar, they turned it into our favorite place to hang out! We then moved up to our living room: we wanted to turn a narrow white space into a place that was conducive to talking and eating - whether just us or with friends. They turned it into a space that flowed, felt bigger, and where I've spent many a night talking and eating with family and friends late into the night. Finally, we did the upstairs. I needed more closet space, a calm soothing bedroom, a more efficient (but not sterile!) office for my husband, with a space to sit so he could take a break from his desk, and finally, a den/guest room (with a pull out sleeper). We are almost finished with the upstairs (finishing touches needed) but the photos should give you an idea! Jaye and Tucker's vision and their remarkable use of space made our house our favorite place where every corner has a (beautiful) purpose. Truly, these guys are the best. Best decision we ever made was to send an email to see what they could do with our basement! Cannot recommend more! Absolutely love these guys!

    After my friend with the last name, Hudson, got engaged to to her boyfriend with the last name, Crane, (crazy coincidence right?!) I thought I'd go out on a limb to see if Hudson & Crane could hook me up with some goodies to give them as an engagement gift. My expectations were completely exceeded from the moment they responded to my somewhat odd request. Not only were they super friendly, generous, polite, timely, and professional - but the little complimentary package they put together for me was amazing! Totes, candles, umbrellas, mugs, baseball hats...my friend is going to lose her mind when she sees all of this stuff. I was definitely not owed any of this company's time since I'm sure they are plenty busy dealing with actual clients and customers, but I am definitely more inclined to become one due to the above and beyond positive interaction I had with them. So happy that I decided to reach out!

    I love Hudson & Crane!! They have fantastic gift items for any occasion/holiday and especially for DC locals. The furniture, accents, and design items are beautiful and affordable and would compliment any home in a variety of styles. Everyone should stop by to check it out. They also have awesome events (Terrarium, Owl's Brew tastings, etc) to check out and update those on Facebook!!

    This is the best furniture, accessory, candle, everything store in DC! I walk in here every week and swoon over all of the pieces I want for my house. My latest purchase was an amazing distressed gold bar cart that hit the shop yesterday and sold today. Prices are fantastic! There are constantly new pieces coming in so be sure to check in often. Great shop and wonderful addition to our neighborhood!

We ventured into the beautiful Stona showroom on Grace Street in Georgetown and were pleasantly surprised to find a marble mosaic that suited our purpose. The Stona staff were very pleasant, helpful and accommodating. The owner, Mert Bakan promptly came to our apartment, took measurements and provided a very reasonably priced bid to do all the work including demolition and re-tiling. One of the things that we liked about Stona is that they have their own craftsmen, unlike many other stone retailers who could only recommend independent contractors whom we then would have to contact to do the installation. Stona provided a full service. Within a week of accepting their offer Stona sent two installers to do the job; small by comparison to many jobs (38 ft2). The installers were very careful removing the existing woodwork, which they refitted and replaced at the end of the job without damaging anything. (Frequently the demolition requires replacing the moldings.) The demolition of the existing floor was done without much disruption and the installation was very professional. Mert Bakan came to inspect the job before the installers left and to make sure we were satisfied with the entire process. He and his staff are friendly, helpful, and efficient as well as attentive to detail from start to finish. We are very satisfied with the finished product and would highly recommend Stona based on quality of materials, professionalism, price and overall efficiency.

It looked very modern and was told by my friend it was from Denmark. He said it was very expensive. I looked very closely at the materials and mentioned that it was not real wood, either MDF or Particle Board with veneer as well as made in China. My friend said that is impossible as he was assured it was real solid wood made in Denmark. I said to him, I will cut part of his furniture and if it is not MDF or Particle Board I would buy and replace it. Lo and behold it was Particle Board. I have yet to find out what my friend did after I left his dinner invitation.

We were told someone would come out to repair it. The can of fabric spray came dented and with caps broken off so was unable to use. When contacted they were very apologetic and offered to send us two new cans and offered for us to select two accessories as a service recovery. We selected two items for service recovery. We followed up once and were told we would be contacted when the items came in. To date, months later we have heard nothing. We have a couch with torn underside, no fabric spray and no items that were offered as service recovery. we ordered through Georgetown store.
