My friend invited me for dinner; he wanted to show me the furniture he bought at BoConcept in Georgetown, Washington D.C. It looked very modern and was told by my friend it was from Denmark. He said it was very expensive. I looked very closely at the materials and mentioned that it was not real wood, either MDF or Particle Board with veneer as well as made in China. My friend said that is impossible as he was assured it was real solid wood made in Denmark. I said to him, I will cut part of his furniture and if it is not MDF or Particle Board I would buy and replace it. Lo and behold it was Particle Board. I have yet to find out what my friend did after I left his dinner invitation. read more

Terrible customer service. ordered a couch and it arrived months later than promised. When it arrived the entire underside of the couch was torn. We sent them photos. We were told someone would come out to repair it. The can of fabric spray came dented and with caps broken off so was unable to use. When contacted they were very apologetic and offered to send us two new cans and offered for us to select two accessories as a service recovery. We selected two items for service recovery. We followed up once and were told we would be contacted when the items came in. To date, months later we have heard nothing. We have a couch with torn underside, no fabric spray and no items that were offered as service recovery. we ordered through Georgetown store. read more

Updated review, weeks later. Was back in DC and used occasion to revisit this G-town store after sincere comments from store manager through Yelp. A polar experience, a different day, a different planet. Let's accept that that one day was just a remarkable exception. Today, super helpful, friendly staff who shared specific and potent ideas about color matching, contrasting and blending fabric v. leather etc. We left smarter, with guidance and great direction re a sofa we really like, in a great fabric on view, and chair we might equally. If you like this type of furniture styling, then Georgetown and Tysons shops are winner. ----- Stars for the service- lack. Lovely scandi-modern furniture if it is to your taste. High end prices but not atmospheric. Service, super, on our day, if your goal is to browse without sales interruptions. That is, ignored is bliss, if sought. But we needed some. And when we sought attention-- a tear sheet, a question, an anything-- no ability to get an acknowledgement from any of the salespeople. Not a one. Perturbing, to say the least, to a thickskinned shopper. Quite liked an Osaka reddish sofa, tufted with angled arms, there but that's a Bo sale likely lost, as there were as friendly sofas we liked at Room and Board, with available nice folks. Ziv's first review was spot on! I walked in, explained what I was looking for and was greeted with a smirk and obnoxious response stating "they are all here." I repeated what I was looking for and asked where I could find the item to test it out and again received the same obnoxious response "they are all here." So I bought my sofa from Room and Board whose design representatives are not full of themselves, snobby, or behave as if you don't deserve SERVICE when you patronize a furniture store. I went to Blu Dot across the street where they greeted us right away and asked if we needed help. Same for Room and Board. Not so for BoConcept. If you want to drop $10,000 to be treated as if you're lucky to get service then this is the place for you. Also, I heard one of the design reps speaking to another couple shopping there and her tone was far from friendly. Finally, as much as I like their Scandinavian style, the furniture IS overpriced for what you're getting. read more

I helped my boss order a beautiful couch from Bo Concept. Jose, helped us pick the perfect color and place the order. He was very professional and helpful, even as we went back and forth AND back AND forth over the details. They also were willing to send the couch to CT which was a huge plus. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the delivery. Evidently, because Bo Concept does not often deliver that far, they used a new delivery service called XPO Logistics. And they were very unprofessional. They sent only the deliver to help unload a huge couch and refused to move it up 3 steps. Both myself and Jose (mainly Jose, he's amazing) have to argue with them just to get them to carry out the delivery. Long story short: Bo Concept is great, especially Jose. XPO Logistics Sucks. Best customer service in Georgetown by far. Tim has helped me choose the furniture for all my apartments. I just moved to a new place and it has some really "interesting" design "features" (read: large, old radiators) and I thought I was going to kill myself (over dramatization) trying to get new and old furniture to mix here. Tim was great. He helped me find the right pieces, in the right finish, etc. I now know way too much about my furniture -- I could probably sell it. That's the first time I've ever been able to say that about furniture. Whenever I've gone into other stores like Baker, Roche Bobois or Artefacto, I've never been given the level of genuine service that I received from Tim in Georgetown. The rest of the staff seemed to be equally helpful, but a shout out's a shout out. (ALSO, Tim and Dia in Tysons are great too.) I bought two fold down sofas from Bo Concept Georgetown around 2005. 13 years later I have had no issues with any of the movable parts, the fabric has not faded and still looks new. I would happily buy more furniture from them as it is build to last. When I initially bought my furniture I was also looking at Ligne Roset which is substantially more expensive. When I went into Ligne Roset and asked them about what makes their furniture better than Bo Concepts to justify Ligne Roset significantly higher cost. The sales lady scoffed at me and said Bo Concept items were not high quality. Her attitude really turned me off. Time and the condition of my Bo Concept furniture has proven her wrong. read more

I can't begin to express my amazement by the level of customer service Tim (Georgetown franchisee) offered me recently. I waa looking to replace a dining chair after a leg broke. I sent Tim a copy of the picture and asked if I could have the chair replaced or if there was a way to repair the leg. Not only did he arrange to order a new leg, but get arranged for TWO new legs AND even offered to arrange to have an associate deliver the piece to me personally. We had purchased from BoConcept before and liked our purchase of a dining table and chairs that we still use even after 10 years. The experience of ordering was great. Inger (her card says she is the manager here ) was great at explaining our choices and we learnt a lot about leather, care for leather and how to think about the furniture we need for our room. We made a decision to go for a mid quality leather and there was no pressure to make us upgrade, she was nice enough to explain the difference and show us what we could expect and keep in touch. read more

If a friend were to tell me that they saw a great piece at BoConcept and were considering a purchase, I would tell them to wait a couple of weeks, go back, and see how they feel on second glance. When we stumbled on BoConcept at the Tyson's Corner location a few months back, we were super excited at the sleek, functional designs. Trying to furnish a unit that doesn't have a whole lot of storage space, we were intrigued by the creative fold-out functions of the coffee tables and dining tables. For some reason, we weren't quite as impressed on our second trip, this time to the Georgetown location. The standalone store was set up more nicely than the shopping mall location. But perhaps it was because we were more skeptical as we were looking at the pieces as potential purchases rather than conceptual design project, or perhaps because we also looked at the couches which were very angular and uncomfortable; our conclusion was that the furniture would probably be more fitting in a reception area of an office than a comfortable home. I still think the furniture here is great, but I would warn against getting caught up in the neatness of individual pieces. We also noticed wear and tear/scratches on some pieces that gave us a look into what the furniture would look like in the future, which kind of turned us off. Bad marketing, in my view. read more

A nice store in Georgetown located on the front end of M St coming from the Key Bridge. We went to an event of beer and chocolate tasting. After sipping some beer we walked around the store that had three levels. BoConcept means Life Concept, a Danish furniture company. It was no surprise that the furniture looked a lot like Ikea except they were high-end, probably more durable and in some parts made with real wood versus composite ply wood pieces. The price tag of course was at least 5-10 times more than Ikea's. I liked many pieces there especially a L-sectional couch that had a flannel cover and a very dense material reminded me of those tempurpedic foam mattress. Very nice quality but many pieces were made for yuppieish singles lifestyle, practicality with children and pets would go right out the window. read more

Essentially, I like everything that even remotely channels the interior and exterior of Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water House. BoConcept fills my uncluttered space with beautiful furniture! Call me archaic, but the new world of retail and shopping causes me anxiety for many reasons. They range from the reduction in the number of physical shops making finding and getting there a challenge, to dealing with ill-informed associates focused on personal devices, to a feeling of judgment and trespassing while in the store, and to staff who aren't empowered to resolve issues without a manager. Customer service is now a trait possessed by a limited number who consider their job more than a stepping stone. So upon walking into the Washington, D.C. Bo Concept store, right at the moment they were about to lock the doors for the day, my anxieties of personal shopping slowly began to evaporate. The staff greeted me with a sincere appreciation of the time I took to go there. The environment was contrary to what I've come to expect, underscored by their sincere greetings and personal attention to me that I've essentially resigned as a lost art in retail since the onset of e-commerce. I was openly welcomed by Cecilia. She didn't tell me to leave or that they're closed. She invited me in and offered her help and told me honestly to take my time. I was put at ease by Cecila's congeniality, help and knowledge of the products. She informed me of their sample floor sale, took the time to show me options throughout the entire store, a time consuming endeavour, and even contacted a client who put items I wanted on hold, to see if they were still interested in them. This completely stunned me. My entire visit was not only painless from shopping, purchasing, follow-up and delivery, it was most enjoyable and quite memorable. Cecilia occasionally contacts me to make sure everything is working out as I had hoped; something that many bricks and mortar stores don't bother to do. As an architect, interior designer and discerning shopper, having the ability to see, touch and experience products accompanied by professional, friendly and knowledgable staff is more valuable than any online fire sale. This traditional way of shopping, in my option, results in happier and satisfied customers, a lower probably of returns and in the end, a personal advocate for the company - the best marketing any establishment could hope for. This is THE place to shop if you want high-quality furniture and a Company that stands behind its furniture, no ifs, and or buts. Probably one of the best customer service experiences we have ever had. Recently, we became aware that one of our BoConcept dining room chairs was unsteady and, upon our inspection, noticed that a metal joint under the chair had separated making it unsafe to sit on. There was no way we could fix it and it was part of a set with other matching chairs. We initially contacted Ayman A., design consultant at BoConcept, Georgetown for assistance with our problem. The response we received from Ayman and subsequently Tim M, the owner, was very positive and encouraging even though our chair was several years old and had been purchased at a different BoConcept store. Tim arranged for the damaged frame portion of our chair to be replaced at no cost to us. I don't know how many other retailers would help their customers under these circumstances...item not purchased recently and from a different franchisee. And that's why we can say that BoConcept truly believes in customer service! read more

Last year , I stumbled cross their store in Philadelphia and so I stopped by the Georgetown location because I was looking to stock up for my new apartment. I ended up finding a great couch that I'm satisfied with but I don't plan on getting any other pieces from this store. Some pieces, like my couch, have clean lines and aren't too bulky so they work well with any space, but then there are other pieces that are pretty tacky and over-the-top. Design aside, their customer service at every location I went to was impressive. And delivery worked out great! Two big thumbs-up for BoConcept, and Tim. The first thumbs-up is for the furniture itself. We purchased several Mariposa chairs and a Granada table. We have absolutely loved them both! They are probably our favorite pieces of furniture. The table is incredibly easy to expand and contract, so we actually do it all the time. (The mechanism is kind of fun to use, so I actually like doing it, rather than dreading it.) And the chairs are beautiful and comfortable. The second thumbs-up is for their service. We had a problem with one of the chairs almost five years after we purchased it. The warranty had long since ended, but I contacted Tim (who wasn't even the owner when we purchased the chairs) to ask about it. He concluded that the problem shouldn't have happened, so he offered to fix the chair for free. That involved replacing a substantial piece of the chair - which couldn't have been cheap for them. And they did the repair in about 15 minutes at their warehouse while I waited and chatted with the lovely repair people. I guess you can tell that I feel pretty positive about BoConcept, but they've earned it! read more

Five stars for Tim and this stylish furniture! Upon entering this store the sales woman (IZA) was so warm and helpful. She even volunteered to stop by home To provide specific design tips. (SiDENOTE: I never confirmed how much I would spend prior to this trip being made). Because of Iza's helpfulness and attention to detail (and the fact that they carry amazing pieces) I decided to order multiple items (approximately $12k worth). Once my items arrived, I loved everything with the exception of my counter stools. Actually, nothing was wrong with the items but they did not look as I imaged in my space. And I figured out, I'm not a fan of the 3 leg stool (personal preference). I called to request a refund/store credit. Tim emailed me back immediately and even offered to have the delivery guys pick them up. I would email at midnight and he was responding IMMEDIATELY! He was warm... helpful.... very accommodating. This is the type of customer service I appreciate and expect! The prices may be a little high but you get what you pay for in quality and service! When you have Madds Mikkelsen as your spokesperson, you know it's going to be good. Hannibal himself recommends this store, and I have to agree with him. With the style and comfort of their items, you can't go wrong. Their things are a little bit on the pricy side if you ask me, $2k for a chair (which is what we got), but it is the ultimate comfort chair. After going around the whole city and trying out different chairs, we decided on one here. Our salesperson was great, she was absolutely wonderful. That being said, I forgot her name and can't give her credit. After ordering the chair, everything was straightforward, no hidden fees that sort of thing. Of course we asked for a discount and she just laughed at us. This place isn't the most expensive as far as furniture (hence go next-door) but if you ask me, it's by no means cheap. Even though the price was steep for me, it's worth it for quality. read more

I purchased a significant amount of furniture from the store at Tyson's corner. I wish I hadn't and I wish I could return every piece of it. The people at the store were polite and helpful - until something went wrong. As expected, furniture delivery took about two months. However, when the furniture was delivered the drawers of the the sideboard were misaligned and the leather coverings of two of the chairs from the dining set were put on wrong. Overall, it was very clear that the furniture was put together without ANY attention to detail and that there was no quality control in place. This was a very disappointing experience - I had been looking forward to the new furniture and I felt that I might as have bought IKEA furniture ( at 1/20th the price!) and put it together myself and I still would have better furniture. The problems started when I called BoConcept to ask for the items to be fixed. It turns out that the store has absolutely no responsibility in helping you get the expensive furniture repaired. They politely let you know that you have to deal with the customer service department and that the delivery company is responsible. In fact, there are three different entities involved in the process: the store (which pretty much removes itself from having any responsibility), some intermediate customer service company (I still don't know what they do - other than act as an intermediary) and a delivery company. The delivery company is actually responsible for service calls to the furniture, and as I found out later, they are the ones who actually put your furniture together. They are also completely independent of the store and do things on their schedule - which you can't control. Every time a repair has beens scheduled it has taken ages, including waits of 3+ weeks. The first time, though I was very specific about my available times and stressed when I could be at home (e.g. I travel during the week I could only be at home on the morning of the date they could possibly come by), they scheduled me for an afternoon visit. Needless to say, I couldn't be there. In fact, since I was told of my delivery date by voicemail, I couldn't even attempt to change it. The phone number left on the voicemail was pretty much useless since no one picked up. Note that this type of behavior is expected of the cable company or the phone company. This is supposed to be classy furniture store. Of course I had to call again to schedule another visit by the repair people. I was told I would be called back with more details and never heard from them. Called again, finally got another appointment scheduled (wait another 3 weeks until "A truck was going to be in my area"). I find it very disturbing that my business is worth so little after they have my money that they can't even schedule a service crew to come repair furniture that should NOT need repairs . If there isn't a truck coming to your area for a delivery, then you are not important enough for a visit. When you tell the "intermediary" scheduling people when you are available, they immediately add that they can't control delivery times and that it is up to the service/delivery company at which times/dates they can come by. In other words, you don't have any control as to when they come to fix things. During my second repair attempt (four months after delivery date), I was told (through voicemail) that the service crew would be by between 1 and 5pm, and that I would receive a call from them ~ 1 hr before they would arrive at my place. I received the call at 6 pm, and only to tell me that they were running late and that they could only come by at approximately 8 pm. Unfortunately, I couldn't be there. So there was no repair. I am now in my third try to get the furniture fixed to the level that it should have been assembled in the first place (3+ weeks yet again). I am tired of speaking to different people on the phone, each of which starts the conversation by politely telling me that someone else is responsible for getting things scheduled/fixed/repaired etc. I am tired of being told by the people at the store itself that it is not their problem, and though most have been polite, some have been extremely rude to the point that I have had to ask to speak to a manager. I would not recommend purchasing furniture from this store to anyone. The way they have divided up the distribution of their furniture pretty much guarantees that if something goes wrong, you will have NO way of fixing it in a timely manner. It is now 5 months after the original delivery and the furniture is still in exactly the same form, with crappy assembly and no quality control. If I could return it, I certainly would - every single piece of it - even for the loss of the 40% that they charge for returns. Unfortunately, too much time has gone by and I can't even do that. Save yourself the trouble, buy your furniture elsewhere. read more

Purchased coffee/dining table from bo concepts in July 2015. Interior designer had it delivered. We arrived and the table does not move up or down as showed in store. It's been over two months now. Still no fix. Calls avoided. Calls not returned. Any other store would have taken the table back or fixed it. I love that they have a huge selections of coffee tables and couches (which is my personal weakness, since my most favorite room is always a living room), and they have some wonderful little accessories that would look totally amazing in every room regardless of anything. Whenever I go there, they are always very polite and very sweet, and they do help a lot if you are having any questions or concerns. This was my first experience with BOConcept. I have previously shopped primarily at Ligne Roset. I am extremely satisfied with the service received and with the quality of the products I bought. Ayman helped me through the entire process, providing me with various options from which to select. He was always available to help and, I must say, very patient when I made changes to the order. The quality of the furniture received is excellent and met all my expectations. The delivery date of the furniture occurred on the promised date. The "white glove" delivery service is superb. This place is crazy overpriced! A friend has their fold out ottomans (turns into a bed) and I've slept on them, they are decent. A little hard but do-able in a pinch. So I sat on the couches in this store and the beds and they were all very hard. It kind of reminds me of an overpriced IKEA....and I'm not an IKEA person at all. My experience here was awful. The sales person did not tell me until after I purchased my sofa that there was a 40% percent restock fee. In addition the sales person told me after my transaction was complete that I had 5 business days to make a decision before this store policy took effect. After my sofa was delivered when I called 2 days later, the sales manager was never around and my return would not be accepted. The material of the sofa once delivered, (the store had no fabric sample) was cheap and tacky looking. I would not recommend anyone shop there. read more
