He said it was very expensive. I looked very closely at the materials and mentioned that it was not real wood, either MDF or Particle Board with veneer as well as made in China. My friend said that is impossible as he was assured it was real solid wood made in Denmark. I said to him, I will cut part of his furniture and if it is not MDF or Particle Board I would buy and replace it. Lo and behold it was Particle Board. I have yet to find out what my friend did after I left his dinner invitation.

Ade was patient, understanding and professional every time I came into the store to look at chairs. She encouraged me to take my time and helped me make an informed decision about which chair to buy. She never hovered but made a practice of appearing whenever I had a question or needed her help. Listening to Ade, helped me clarify what I was really looking for in an office chair and helped me see things I never would have seen or appreciated. More than anything else, though, I felt valued and heard from my first interaction coming through the door thru my purchase.

I was looking for a new sofa and accessories, but had no clue how long the process would take or how complicated it would be. To my surprise, the staff was super friendly, even going as far as picking out pillows to go with my color scheme! I was able to pick out a sofa, figure out what fabric I wanted (they have so many to choose from!) and sit on their many sofas in the store to decide how much fluff I wanted -- you have the option to upgrade to down comfort for a little bit more! The checkout was simple, and what sold me on buying their product was that it had a 5 year warranty for no extra price (think: red wine spills), and all of the furniture is made in America. The staff emailed me and told me they would update me on the progress of my sofa, which should be ready in ~6 weeks. The delivery is included in the price, which is wonderful. This has been such an easy process, and it's great supporting a local, small business. I will be returning for more furniture when the time comes!

One sales associate eventually helped me after finishing with another customer, which I appreciated. However, two other associates behind the counter did not acknowledge me at all. What made the situation particularly concerning was that when white customers entered the store, they were immediately greeted and assisted. As a Black customer, the difference in treatment felt noticeable and uncomfortable. At a brand like Diptyque--where customer experience is part of the product--this kind of disparity is unacceptable. I've visited Diptyque locations in multiple countries and have never experienced this level of disregard. This visit felt dismissive and unwelcoming, and it has significantly changed my perception of this location.

My boyfriend found what he was looking for and left a satisfied customer, but I left feeling like I had no idea why anyone would pay $70+ for an average sized candle that smelled like the back of a grandma's closet (and wondering if I'm just too primitive to "get" it).
