The mirror in question!
Lyndsey G.

I love GoodWood! I just moved to the city and followed their Instagram account to be updated on all their finds. I passed by their store the other day and decided to explore the store. Everything they bring in has a lot of character and the second hand nature of it all is a bonus for sustainability. I purchased an amazing vintage mirror for my room for a great deal and have gotten so many compliments on it already. The employees there were also so kind and amazing:)

Good Woods interior is well kept and filled with zen.

So we have a few rental properties that we utilize for Airbnb. Although they are rental properties we make them look and feel. Like a home away from home for our guests. On the weekends we seek out the antique stores in whatever town we are in. I found Good Wood called to see if they were open. And an employee a pleasant Hispanic guy answered and said come on by. When I arrived I couldn't believe the beautiful collection on display at good wood. Not only are their collections beautiful. But the store is well kept and easy to navigate. We visit many antique shops and they are not well kept and organized. Many are filled with loads of furniture and items all over the place. I have gone to some that are so unorganized that you can't focus on shopping with all the junk in the walkways and placed all over the store. Not Good Wood you are in for a treat. while walking around looking for items I saw one of the good wood team cleaning a glass table. The space is filled with charm zen and amazing finds. Say hello to holly the owner's wife when you visit them. She is warm and friendly a great combination that keeps customers coming back to any business

Fun store to browse around on a Saturday or Sunday morning! So many cool finds including 5 for $1 postcards (some have writing on it saved from the early to late 1900s!!), typewriters, old times shaving kits, antique furniture, clothing and more! Cute nooks around the store with candles, cowboy boots, dresses on sale. Recommend for purchasing unique gifts or pieces for your home.

Like Jaye F mentioned, the smell of this place is pretty intense when you walk in, but I mean intense in a good way. The smell of wood mixed with murphy's oil. The stuff here is well worn, but high quality and given some love to bring out the imperfections that make each piece lovable and its own. From gorgeous, huge and heavy armories to dining room tables, the pieces here tend to be on the big side. There's also lamps here and decorative pieces like a twin statue set of samurais. In the middle around the register is a glass case filled with beaded bracelets and gold tone necklaces..and a random but complete set of glass beakers like the ones you had in science class.

Overpriced and bad customer service. No one said hello, they just stayed behind the desk and laughed to one another

Excellent selection of antiques, small household items, knickknacks, cards, and candles! Lots to see in this small tucked away shop.

I need to report an extremely disturbing experience at a Nordstrom Rack store during a recent visit…read morewith my husband. We were shopping for outfits for our son's graduation, which should have been a positive and memorable occasion. Instead, I was subjected to unprofessional, confrontational, and ultimately abusive behavior by a fitting room associate. Upon approaching the fitting room, I followed the associate's directions regarding where to place my cart, although her instructions were inconsistent and unclear. Inside the dressing room, I found a shirt that had been left behind by a previous customer. After trying on approximately seven items, I returned them to hangers and exited the fitting room. At that point, the associate demanded that I remove and hang the shirt that I had not brought into the dressing room. I explained that it was not mine. She became visibly frustrated, entered the room herself, and then shifted her focus to insisting that I return all of my items to the exact locations on the sales floor where I had found them. I placed the clothing neatly on the rack provided near the fitting room, which is standard practice in most retail stores. I declined to return the items to the sales floor, as that is typically handled by store staff to ensure proper organization. The situation escalated significantly when the associate followed me out of the fitting area and toward the front of the store, continuing to confront me. She then called me a "horrible human being" and used an additional demeaning term toward me. Racially motivated ! Being followed and verbally insulted while exiting the store was both shocking and unacceptable. I think she forgot what her job actually was and that was too curate the clothing, and to rehang them up she had the nerve to continue following me and would have exited the store to follow me. Had someone else stopped her I am a 50-year-old customer who has shopped in retail stores my entire life, and I have never experienced anything remotely like this. This interaction was not only unprofessional but crossed the line into harassment. this incident be investigated thoroughly. No customer should be treated in this manner under any circumstances. I would also appreciate a response outlining what steps will be taken to address this situation and ensure it does not happen to others. Huge thumbs down to this store and this horrible little twit

This was a Lion and Tigers and Bears OH MY situation! It's quite crowded in here. Not cluttered but crowded. They have soooo much stuff and it's all in order. This place could be 2-3 floors easy!! I saw all of my fav brands at great prices. They have a huge selection of high-end wear for a great price. They have a huge selection of summer, spring and winter wear. The cosmetics and body care... chef's kiss!! They have everything in every color/ scent/ size!! Cool accessories, luggage galore, etc. I did not take a gander at the shoes as I had a show nearby to attend. I bought 2 gorge blouses and a short sleeve loose fitting denim blue top. I will revisit very soon for some more shopping greatness.

Ella-Rue - Prada Monolith Loafers

Just had a great little shopping moment at Ella-Rue, a consignment boutique in DC that's definitely…read moreworth knowing about if you're into designer pieces without the full-price guilt trip. The edit is solid -- everything from Hermes (yes, I spotted a pair of immaculate riding boots, sadly not my size) to The Row, Prada, Chanel... even some more accessible gems from brands like Mansur Gavriel. I lucked out and found a pair of Prada Monolith loafers that are still available in-store at full price -- except mine were half the cost and looked like they'd maybe been worn once. Maybe. Such a good score, plus I got to support a small business, which always feels better than buying direct from some corporate mega-retailer. And shout out to Julia, who works there -- she was fantastic. Super helpful, super knowledgeable, and when the right shoe went missing (yes, really), she helped me tear the place apart to find it. I had almost given up, but then I spotted a Prada box... and there it was. Victory. All in all: great range, well-curated, and the kind of place where you just might walk out with a designer piece you didn't even know you needed. Definitely one to add to your DC shopping circuit.

This review is way overdue, but I cannot recommend Ella Rue enough. Back in early April I had an…read moreupcoming wedding and nothing to wear for it, and stopped in with my husband. Not only was the staff lovely and welcoming - the glass of wine offered was such a nice touch - they were incredibly helpful as well in finding me a gorgeous red Armani dress at a fantastic price. It only gets better! One of the employees (Krista) noticed that there was a small fix that needed to be done on the shoulder. Before I could even blink she had a seamstress in from a local shop, who came and got the dress to repair on their dime. I honestly didn't notice the issue until Krista pointed it out, she's got an eagle eye. Krista was amazing at coordinating the dress pickup a few days later. I couldn't get out of calls from work so she got the dress delivered to me! I cannot get over how amazing they are, and will ALWAYS recommend Ella Rue. Consider me a customer for life!
