Bought some antique spoons from this place while on a trip to D.C. a few months ago. The shop is fantastic with some really impressive items that Frank (I'm assuming) has curated. My only complaint is that after I returned home and wanted to buy some more wares, I found that they don't have a website! Huh? So I thought I would email them. NO EMAIL. Wuh? Maybe call and have a chat. Guess what? NO VOICEMAIL!?!? Come oooooon! I can understand trying to preserve some old-time sense of way things were in the past, but when it comes at the expense of helping out your business, it's just a bad move. I ended up going somewhere else for my add-on purchases because it's just easier to correspond over the internet when transacting between coasts. Frank, your stuff is awesome, but it's time to fish or cut bait. Get a website, email, and voicemail (for goodness sake!) and join the rest of us in 2017. read more

Best Antique Shop I've Been To! At a glance it seems like a normal antique shop (with some extra fun, unique pieces) but the owner is really what makes the antique shop so amazing. He lets you take things out of the cases and see how they work and knows the history of so much of the pieces. Thing that you think are nothing end up being some of the coolest pieces once he explain what they are and what the history is. Ask all the questions! We asked him to keep our names in case he ever decides to break up an antique set and let us buy individual pieces and he was such a nice man recommending for us to just look in our local area so we don't have to pay for shipping but I would be happy to! Half of why we wanted the pieces was because of the entire, wonderful experience Frank gave us while we were visiting Georgetown. Highly recommend! read more

I've been to many antique stores in many places over the globe and Frank's store stands out as one of my fast favorites. He finds the best examples of everything he carries and everything is in wonderful working condition: cleaned, repaired, and functioning. They are mostly stocked with American and British antiques -- especially silver, hollowware, plate, cutlery, and object of virtu. He's knowledgable, approachable, and above all relaxed. This was the first antique store I've ever been in. I'm trying to forge my way into food photography and I've been looking around for props. This is a great place if you have a decent budget. Frank is extremely knowledgeable and talked me through so many pieces allowing me to hold crystal glasses and feel how heavy they are, telling me the origin country, creator, art era and story behind why he bought each piece. His pieces are very practical and would make a great addition to someone shopping for their home or china cabinet. He also has some very peculiar pieces as well, that are just as interesting as the beautiful ones. There's a lot to look at in this small store. During a walk through Georgetown three years ago I rang the bell to enter his shop and I have been back every visit to the city since. Frank himself is a charming man who brings in every patron from the most elite policymakers and celebrities to jogging interns to bask in the shimer of a silver collection spanning four centuries. There are few people as well versed in these antiques and the goings on in Washington as Frank. A trip to Frank Milwee - Antiques is more than just a quick stop to pick up a last minute gift, it's an adventure. His prices are fair because his products are the best quality and he would not let anything less go on the shelves. The man has furnished gifts for presidents, popes, and paupers. Great quality antiques. They have a lot of antique serving platters, furniture pieces, paintings, letter openers, flasks, vases, and old-fashioned drink mixers. The owners are very helpful. I was looking for teacups which they don't really have but the other antiques are of high quality. read more

Last weekend my wife took me to this great Georgetown find. I love wine and wine openers and Frank has one of the most vast and exciting wine pull and silver collections that I've ever seen. While we were there Frank and Susannah (sp?) showed us other great treasures and the stories behind them while also engaging a very bored 15 year old. We've bought many things from this shop over the years and always found Mr.Milwee to be enormously helpful, knowledgeable and honest - even to where it was against his interest in making a sale. He's is one of the old school antique dealers who truly cares about his customers and preserving the legacy of the items he finds. A wonderful but dying breed in this age of amazon and internet. Wish I could give it half a star. The owner of this shop was rude, critical, and outright snobbish. He referred to clients as being of a"stations in life" and explained that only a "certain kind of person" can afford to shop in his store. SERIOUSLY????!!!! I just happened in, while walking around Georgetown, and was very impressed by the selection of fine silver and his casual way of allowing me to explore; only coming to help when I asked. I say "woohoo" because I have been buying antiques at this shop for over 20 years. Frank Milwee is knowledgeable about what he sells. For example, when buying antique silver, he tells me who the maker was, what year the piece was made, and why it is historically important. In a day when many of our wonderful Georgetown shops are being lost to the big retailers, like Gap, it is refreshing to walk into a beautiful shop where the owner is personally accountable and takes the time to get to know his customers. Whether buying a small piece of antique silver or a more expensive piece, he always treats me as if I am buying the most expensive item in the shop.
