He said it was very expensive. I looked very closely at the materials and mentioned that it was not real wood, either MDF or Particle Board with veneer as well as made in China. My friend said that is impossible as he was assured it was real solid wood made in Denmark. I said to him, I will cut part of his furniture and if it is not MDF or Particle Board I would buy and replace it. Lo and behold it was Particle Board. One sales associate eventually helped me after finishing with another customer, which I appreciated. However, two other associates behind the counter did not acknowledge me at all. What made the situation particularly concerning was that when white customers entered the store, they were immediately greeted and assisted. As a Black customer, the difference in treatment felt noticeable and uncomfortable. At a brand like Diptyque--where customer experience is part of the product--this kind of disparity is unacceptable. I've visited Diptyque locations in multiple countries and have never experienced this level of disregard. This visit felt dismissive and unwelcoming, and it has significantly changed my perception of this location.
