Michel is a CRAFTSMAN not just a plain contractor. I needed a second story deck replaced and I was pretty picky about having it done well. I didn't want issues for another ten years. This was the perfect guy for that. Michel takes pride in making sure what he does will last and is done the right way. A good contractor takes care of details that are seen and unseen and Michel did that throughout the project. We had some unforeseen situations and he gave me a fair additional charge to fix those additional situations. I felt comfortable knowing I was probably not paying bottom dollar, but knowing that he would do it properly and I wouldn't have to worry. If you're looking for a bottom dollar contractor to just do the basics, this is not your guy. He will be 20-30% higher. But he will make sure the details are right and stand by his work. You probably won't find anyone else as detail oriented as him.

Michal finished the upstairs bathroom, and it looks amazing! I picked out the tile, and he offered to incorporate a metal strip around the decorative detail. It brought the whole design together and gave it that contemporary edge I was looking for. At one point, I expressed frustration with the existing wainscoting behind the sink. I came home to see that he had replaced it with the extra decorative mosaic, and I am thrilled every time I walk into the bathroom now. He does precise, craftsman-level work, he's friendly and listens to what the customer wants, and he offers ideas to improve the design. He's so good, I wish I could keep him on permanent staff.

Updating the review to include the two bathrooms Michal remodeled this summer. Michal and team did a complete gut and renovation of both our bathrooms with extensive tilework in both and a custom glass shower installation in one. We needed his help selecting materials, making design choices and figuring out what fixtures would fit. He did it all...The project was a great success and we are very, very happy with the new bathrooms. His tile and glass team did amazing work with great attention to detail. My wife who is exceptionally picky about finish details found nothing to complain about. His subs were universally friendly and everyone communicated well re: schedule, progress, etc. Cost was very competitive and, I'd imagine, many thousands of dollars less than we would have paid had we used a large design/build group. Michal also worked very well with the team at Architectural Ceramics (we highly recommend them) who provided all the tile for the two bathrooms.

MM Remodeling did an excellent job remodeling our bathroom. We would definitely hire them again and recommend them to others. Michal and his partner Alex are extremely hard workers. They often showed up early and worked late to ensure the job was completed on time. Michal is hands-on and honest. He always provided a range of options for materials and next steps, listened to what we were trying to accomplish, and was transparent about additional issues that arose during the project and fixing them, e.g. unexpectedly finding rotted wood below our original shower. MM Remodeling is a trustworthy, very professional, great quality, and good value for making your home improvements!

Complete remodel of the master bathroom shower!
    Stuart G.

MM Remodeling did an outstanding job remodeling our master bathroom. The owner, Michal, was onsite every day and patiently explained what was needed, why it was needed, and answered any questions that we had. We felt very comfortable with him and really felt like he was taking the time to make sure we were happy with the work being done. He updated us periodically to show us what was being done (and to caution us to keep our kids out of the area to not mess up the work). Once complete, our shower is better than before and we are 100% confident that this work is the best quality. Additionally, Michal took care of some other minor problems we had - he fixed a gutter that had come away from the house, and installed a lip on a back exterior door to keep the rain from coming in. Very professional and A+ quality work. I would recommend Michal and MM Remodeling to my Mom, neighbors and friends - anyone who wants quality work done!

Shlomo was patient and offered his input as we figured out what design and materials we wanted. His team was able to move an outlet, build and install the shelving and cabinets, and mount the TV. We are very happy with how it turned out! Just a note that they specialize in custom work and keep a busy calendar so it may take some months from start to finish. Our project took even longer due to holidays and other work being done at our house. The price was higher than other companies we got quotes from due to the custom work but we felt it was well worth the quality!

From the moment we reached out, Shlomo was prompt, responsive, and understanding of first-time homeowners on their first project. Shlomo came to our house and walked through with me the two concepts I had in mind. He asked key questions that helped better shape the ideas, took the necessary measurements, then followed up in short order with a clear proposal and quote. The pricing was competitive and within our budget. Once we decided to move forward, the team delivered on the carpentry faster than we expected. Max and the team who did the carpentry were friendly and understanding of two tired parents who had to work in the house through the day. The work they performed was impeccable. The final product? 1) Built-in bookshelves with a table-height counter and drawers below: a showstopper and the new centerpiece of our living room; and 2) a ceiling-high pantry cabinet in our kitchen, attached to a new counter with a built-in garbage/recycling drawer. We are thrilled with the quality of these pieces, which have truly made our new home our own. If you are looking for cabinetry work in the DC-area, we unequivocally recommend you go with "As It Should Be." They will do great work for you.

The project started out real great with the Designer. Chris was our designer and he listened to…read moreeverything we wanted in the design and even helped us put things in the design we didn't think of. I would have Chris design my kitchen again. When the project start we were really happy about the way it was progress. That all came to a halt when we saw how the crew did the electrical work. When all was said and down the electrical stills needs to be redone to make our wall look more pleasing. It took way to long for the individual to rewire the electrical switches. The plumping was also a nightmare. The sink flood 3 times before a master plumber came in and fixed it. He was able to look under the sink and tell what needed to be done. The sink backing up caused water damage to my basement ceiling. The workers also put paper and blue tape on my wooden floors and when they remover the tape it varnish came off with some of the tape. They tried to fix it but my floor looks terrible. Also the crew did not know how to put the transition on the floor between the living room and kitchen. The way they installed it left it a tripping hazard. The project started on 7 Sept and it was finally completed 7 Dec. With all the problems we had with the crew every time I spoke with the project manager I would hear that is with in code and how we do things. I got very tired of hearing that and asked the project manager for the phone number to his supervisor and was told that he doesn't have a supervisor he was the supervisor. Needless to say I would never have this company back in my house for any things else.

Jordan figured out a perfect configuration to maximize both the space and storage. He recommended Signature cabinets. We purchased the appliances and fixtures. Everything was installed by an excellent independent contractor, recommended by Jordan, who did all the work expect for that needing special licenses. He subcontracted that work. We've done several renovations in the last year (old house) and working with Jordan has far surpassed all our other experiences, both in terms of his knowledge and communication. He listened to our needs and ideas, he was candid about what would work and not work, and he immediately responded to any questions/concerns. We are thrilled with the results and highly recommend working with him.
