Just got finished with a medium sized renovation of our house. MSC did a fine job. Tradesmen were clean and efficient with a keen eye for detail. There was never a complaint when I asked for something to be done the way I wanted it (example was lining up the tile seams on the wall with the seams on the floor). Just make sure you are there for them and communicate exactly what you want. 2-way communication is key to success with any contractor. One stand out situation that was handled well was a mix-up in the grout color between wall and floor. To their credit, the installers asked me what the colors should be before going ahead with the install. Good thing they did since the documentation had them swapped. If they had not asked it would have been a disaster; but not because of them. Thanks for confirming. Scope of our project was 2 full baths (new: tile, vanity, counter tops, lighting, mirrors, ventilation fans, shower doors), dinning room (new French Doors), 4 bedrooms (with closets and new ceiling fans), wood flooring (replacing carpet), and crown molding throughout. House age is 27 years. Location: Rockville Town Center. The result was a completed project to our liking on time and within expected budget. Quality of the work is very good. Workers don't smoke, show up on time, are pleasant to work with, sealed off our living space from dust, cleaned up every night, and get the job done with the minimum of disruption. Modern Style Construction recently completed a design-build renovation project on our Silver Spring home, transforming the unfinished basement of a 90-year old house into a beautiful living space with family room, office, three-piece bathroom, laundry room, and storage space. We are tremendously pleased with the result and grateful for the professionalism and attention to detail that marked every step of our working relationship with Sergei Tsoy and his team. The project proceeded seamlessly from preliminary consultation visit and costing, through design and selection of finishing materials and municipal permits, to the onsite work. We were impressed with the consistent quality of workmanship from framing, through plumbing and electrical work, to flooring, drywalling, painting, and final finishing. The Modern Style team provided superb support on the design of the space, including patience with adjustments made at our request as work proceed and thoughtful advice on soundproofing and other options. We were especially pleased with the elegant solution found to replace the intrusive old gravity-fed radiator pipes with copper pipes mounted flush with the joists, which resulted in greater ceiling height and design aesthetic. Modern Style Construction did a FAB-U-LOUS job on my bathroom renovation. While it was just a vanity replacement; they had to remove the old one, remove the medicine cabinet and mirror, replace the medicine cabinet and mirror at a higher location, drywall and paint the walls. Additionally, they covered the floors with protective/padded sheets and also took good care of the rest of the bathroom with a protective covering. I found them after an internet search and contacted them with my request and a representative was sent out within days to take measurements. Throughout the project, all of my concerns were addressed almost instantaneously - high five for customer service! Modern Style was on time, courteous and quick. Modern Style Construction (MSC) recently completed a bathroom renovation in my home. I had searched for a contractor for weeks and had met with about 10 different companies in the area. I actually stumbled upon MSC in my search and called them for a consultation. Sergei came to my home, and I told him exactly what I wanted to have done. I loved that he was very knowledgeable and professional compared to all the other contractors that I had met with, and how he was able to clearly visualize my wants. In addition, the total price was cheaper than anyone else. Throughout the whole process Sergei was in contact with me and was very quick to respond to all of my numerous emails. This was my first major renovation so I was a bit clueless as to what to expect. But Sergei walked me through the whole process, even providing me with a material selection sheet and recommending which stores to purchase important items. They also took care to cover all my furniture, floors, and blocked off the entire work area to reduce dust and debris. His employees are awesome as well. They were all friendly and professional. We contracted to replace a bathtub with a stall shower and midway we contracted again to replace a vanity with a new vanity, sink, mirrors and lighting. Noteworthy, we had to leave town for 19 days so we authorized Modern Style to complete the job while we were gone. When we returned and found minor faults, they were immediately corrected. Modern Style works for those persons who want to be involved in selecting the components, visiting showrooms, working collaboratively, investing time. Some contractors allow you to sit at home while they bring you components for your selection. They charge a lot more. read more

Our old kitchen was falling apart and barely functional. After getting several quotes we settled on Modern Style Construction because they are licensed, bonded, and insured. They had a beautiful portfolio showing previous work they had done, they had glowing references, and they were fairly close to the median bid we had received. I am very glad that we went with them. The quality of the workmanship was quite good, they are very responsive, they have integrity and are honest, they passed along whatever savings they got for materials to us instead of marking them up, and they pretty much completed the project within the specified time frame once we finalized the design.
