I originally thought supporting the local company would be a good idea; boy was I wrong!
Tim (the owner) took my initial call months ago to get new service. He seemed very undersstanding of my needs, and told me I would be their first phone/internet/t.v bundle ever (as their internet phone service was new). He also did let me know that they are a small company, and although they have been working out many kinks; most things are fine now.
My service started okay, but then everything went wrong. Daily my phone wouldn't work (which sucked because I have no cell service at my house), my internet wouldn't work or be very slow, etc.
After contacting different people at the company; I received different feedback. Initially my emails (which I can barely send because of the internet issue) were not returned. Then I talked to Tim, and he said just email him. So I did, but he barely responds. When I talked to Linda, she said, no, I need to email her anytime the service doesn't work and she will adjust the bill. (Umm, how do I email someone when my service doesn't work? How do I call? And why should I have to be spending so much time, hours, trying to refresh, re-boot, and trying to get an email out saying my service is bad..? Why should I even have to take time to write nightly emails?) I have emailed/called whenever possible; and nobody from the company responds. They have discounted the phone part of the bill, yet not the internet as they had previously stated they would.
So I had contact information on one of their techs; Jeff. His latest message to me suggests that I shouldn't be paying for it if it doesn't work. He also says contacting Tim or Linda is worthless as they are too busy to respond. He also said they are a small company with limitied resources, and that they need more customers to generate the additional funds needed to make repairs and upgrade issues. He also suggested that I need to be patient and understand this as things might get better weekly and in the additional months.
Well, what does this mean? That I continue to pay over $150 a month for unrelaiable service (Ie. I get home from work, can't use phone/internet at least 50% of time)? Beleive me, I really want to support the smaller company, but having no internet/phone for over 50% (or more) of the time and paying large bills makes no sense.
So now I sit with a bill over $300 for the last few months for unreliable service. I also (on any given night) cannot use my home phone, have no communications out, and cannot even get this company to respond in a professional manner.
Your choice is simple; pay for and get good service with the larger national company, or make monthly donations to a local company who might be able to provide a decent service in the future months and/or years. read more
