The system for our main zone wasn't cooling so we called another company that came out and topped off the (very low) refrigerant. They said it was likely pinhole leaks in the evaporator coil and that the re-charge would likely last a year or so. Four days later the refrigerant in that zone was gone and so we had to replace the unit. I got bids from three companies (including Sierra -- the company that originally installed our systems). Their price was lower than the competition on an apple-to-apples comparison. Their team of three (lead by John) came out on schedule the following Monday, replaced the system and, as a result, we were sleeping cool that evening. Our other zone was acting up -- not cooling my office -- and so Ray, the owner, and John came out this morning and did a thermal survey and blower door test to check the quality of the insulation and ductwork. That all checked out fine -- the issue was, again, low refrigerant in the second zone. After topping it up and making a couple of adjustments to the system (undoing what another company did years earlier and, truth-be-told, a homeowner remedy), the second zone is now cool and quiet. The Sierra Air folks are prompt, responsive, friendly, knowledgeable and very cost competitive. They will be our "go-to" HVAC team from now on. read more

Ray and his son Jason "made it right"...and fixed an issue that was not even their fault. Jason switched out a fan motor a few weeks ago. The a/c worked fine for a while, but last week I noticed it was not blowing cold air. I called Jason and he and his father Ray both came to my house to troubleshoot. Come to find out, the fan motor was defective and the end result of the defective motor was a burned out capacitor. To make a long story short because I could go on forever about the awesome job they did - I received a new motor, new capacitor, and their labor at no cost to me. Nada. Zero. Zilch. They stood by their work and fixed a problem that probably started on the Amana assembly line. Ray Myer, (the business owner) goes the extra mile in providing EXCELLENT customer service! When I've had problems with my home AC, if you call his answering service, he (Ray) will usually return your call within an hour and he (or a trusted representative of his standards) will normally be out to investigate the problems usually the VERY next day! This has been the best AC company I've worked with. They came out on a Sunday morning in the middle of summer. I called three places and left messages and one of their guys was at my house in under 30 minutes. I would highly recommend using Sierra if you need anything done to your air conditioner. Here's how it happened. Came home and house temp was on 79f. Called a few friends who have worked with a/c's. T hey each had us try a few things on the unit and the breaker box and decided it was a bigger prob. So I called 4 co.'s including Sierra and told each of them I don't have extra money to spend on this and I had 4 other people coming to give estimates and would decide what the better deal would be. That being said, I was quoted between 5 and 7grand by ALL the others and then Roy shows up. He gave it to me straight and said this is what's wrong and here's what I can do and quoted me less than half of these other guys with a brand new unit and up and running by the next morning. This place not only showed up within an hour after I called, they kept us from having to take out equity or even possibly having to get a loan. This place is a 5 star. read more

With some of the larger AC service companies you hope the person they send is knowledgeable and fair. Ray (Sierra Air) has for years been a savior to the comfort of our family. I have used his service for several houses and my business. He is always prompt and honest. He will not try to sell you a new unit unless you really need one. He installed a unit for a vacation rental home for us - and his recommendation was not the top-of -the line but since we use it part time, a more moderate system. We had a tenant call us to let us know the heat system wasn't working properly on Friday night. Of course it's going to be one of colder nights of the year; so my husband and I went over to see if it needed a handy man fix. Nope. I called and left a message for a fix on Saturday hopefully. Ray called me Saturday morning before 8 to let me know it would be about 4-5pm but he would make it. He called later and confirmed it would be almost 5. It was fixed and over in about a half hour. I'm really happy I've bought their "Silver Club Plan". All you basically do is pay in advance for your fall and spring inspection/Maintance;which help me stay on top of taking care of my investment rental homes; and they call to make the appointments, even if I forget. We also get a discount on any additional work, or if I were to need to buy a new system. I have to say I completely don't believe reviews that say they were ripped off, and I am just a happy consumer that has finally found a HVAC service company that works with me and allows my systems last longer. I recently chose Sierra to supply and install a mini-split system for my garage. It was an excellent experience! Price was right, the customer service was OUTSTANDING, and the performance of the unit they installed makes me smile every time I walk into the garage. I work out there nearly everyday and even when it's 95+ outside I can make the garage cold enough to want a jacket or a sweater. This thing is awesome! The Sierra team was equally awesome. Great bunch of guys who were very friendly and worked very hard to get the job done quickly and professionally. The owner helped out on the job, kept a close eye on everything, and when we ran into an issue with my electrical sub-panel, he got an electrician there within an hour or so and stayed past 7pm to oversee that work to completion as well. He really went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right and that I was happy with their work. read more

This is a great company with great owners! If they weren't here they were calling me to tell me when they would be. I'm on the north side of Lake Travis and we weren't going to be able to get our new indoor and outdoor unit until the next day......but....wait for it!.... Ray drove all the way to South Austin to pick up all he needed for the installation and had me up and running the same day. What a champ! read more

Well the first comment must have been written by someone related to Ray. I have to agree with comment #2....BUT unlike his 1 star rating, I can't even give Sierra Air 1 star (but I had to choose 1 star to get this posted) My wife and I were TOTALLY RIPPED OFF by Sierra Air. Yes...when we called they came out quickly. But that is only to get your money. Sierra's so called "technician" claimed to do a diagnostic and blow out of our unit's drain system. When he left we continued to have problems with our system. We then called Patrick at EJ Air. Patrick, unlike Sierra, came over and TRULY did a diagnostic on our system. Patrick evaluated what the real problem was and fixed it!! Patrick at EJ Air also checked the drain and found that Sierra had NOT BLOWN the drain out as they claimed and CHARGED US for!!! We asked Sierra Air for a refund of our "hard earned cash" for services NOT rendered (no diagnostic was done and no drain blown out). Ray at Sierra refused to reimburse our money. If you need AC repair do NOT call Sierra Air!!!!! They are a complete RIP OFF!!!!!! (I guess that is why his business address is on "Shady Mountain Rd)!!!!! Call Patrick at EJ Air. He knows what he is doing. He found the real problem and fixed it. But the best part about Patrick at EJ Air is.....he is honest. read more
