Stopped in here on a whim just looking for a decent taco and marg and this place understood the assignment!y partner and I walked in around 4pm to this cute spot and it wasn't busy at all. We ordered a couple of margaritas (Olivia and sirena) and you know when something is good that it makes you smile? That was those drinks haha. We also ordered esquite but was told it'd take an hour so we didn't get a chance to try it. We did however get ceviche and it was so good! We also ordered birria tacos just because if I see a birria taco in the menu, I'll always try it and I'm so glad I did. The consome was so flavorful and the oaxaca cheese fills the shell. It was delicious and I'm sad we were on a time crunch and didn't get a chance to try dessert, but based on the drinks and the tacos, I'm sure it would've been good as well! Siempre is a hidden gem in the Gowanus/Park Slope area. It is cozy and intimate with dimmed lights and several tables for two and four. There is a bar area . It is Mexican cuisine focusing on using fresh ingredients. Their Happy Hour is every day until 7:00 p.m. which is a great deal. We started with Margaritas a Happy Hour special, traditional and classic. I had the steak quesadilla from the Happy Hour menu. One large quesadilla filled with carne asada and topped with crema. I usually do not order steak, but our server recommended and I was not disappointed. The steak was seasoned and tender. Even though it was one quesadilla it was larger than I expected. My daughter had a shrimp dish, I don't remember the exact name, but it was shrimp was on a bed of rice and mixed with a cream sauce. The presentation of both dishes were elevated with the garnishes. I went to this restaurant for a see you later dinner for a coworker. It had dim lighting yet enough for us to order from the menu comfortably. If you want any additions to your entree ( I ordered the enchiladas verde plus chicken ). Overall, I would say the vibes and food were wonderful! I only stopped by here briefly with friends but had such a good experience! The staff is super friendly and helpful, offering suggestions of their menu. Their ceviche was delicious and fresh but I do wish had more of the fruits and vegetables in it (apples, red onion, etc.) The guacamole was somehow even more fresh and sooo delicious, as was their esquite which comes with chipotle mayo and Tajín to give it a nice kick. I'd love to come back here for more than just appetizers as the quality in the ingredients speak for themselves. read more

I ordered the platter con la Entraña or skirt steak which was really good. The fried rice was a bit bland but the whole dish was still really good. A frozen passion fruit margarita is what I ordered too and that was lovely and so was the Guac. read more

To be honest we were waiting to get a table at Clark but the wait was 30-45 mins. We did have our hearts set on Mexican and gave this place a try! My friend and I weren't that hungry so we didn't get the guacamole which was a popular choice. We were straight for the entrees! She ordered the skirt steak medium rare and I made modified my choice to have the shrimp enchiladas with verde salsa instead of red salsa! The salsa verde was amazing!! I was a bit disappointed with the dessert, tres leches. It was really gummy - not sure why. I am not sure if the enchiladas would bring me back but the staff were attentive and very friendly. read more

I came here for dinner with a friend. Everything was okay. Nothing was bad but, nothing was amazing either. The ambiance would be great for grabbing drinks. The food wasn't special. The guacamole has oversized chips so it makes it very difficult to eat. You have to break the chips into smaller chips in order to actually eat. The service was good. I won't be back. I can see this being a nice date night spot. It's pretty quiet with a semi-upscale yet cozy ambiance and great service. The presentation of our dishes were also very elevated. If you subscribe to the camera eats first then this restaurant is perfect for you! My friend and I happened to come during their happy hour so we decided to get their discounted guacamole to share. I would've appreciated more chips, but the dip itself was very delicious which extra ingredients like sliced jicama and microgreens that were a nice touch. Unfortunately though, I thought my mole poblano was a little lacking. The chicken was overly salty and the sauce could've been more flavorful. Okay, let's start with service. 3 They were in no hurry to get us our food. It was very slow and we waited about 45 - 60 minutes to be served. We had a babysitter so it put us into the next hour so plan on that if you are on any timeline. Food is slow. Atmosphere 3 they had a maroon 5 track going the full time we were there which is great if you love maroon 5 but I think a variety would have been preferred. Also one of the employees had friends who were shadow boxing in the restaurant and semi aggressively swearing for the duration we were there. So definitely not what I expected. Cost $$$ 2 stars here they were over priced and small portions 14$ for 2 tacos is ridiculous, chicken adobo was pretty medium sized and the Chille rellano was not enough to fill someone yet those two items are 44$ Food chille Rellano though not filling and overpriced was a 5 star dish for me. The char Smokey flavor was balanced with fresh ingredients. It really was a savory party. Pollo adobo 4 star was not a full meal but was fresh tasting and great punch but a little too one note to me. The squash and rice did not cut the adobo and so it needed something. I think I'd order something else next time unless they made changes to this dish. read more

Small intimate restaurant with great happy hour menu that runs till 7pm. Coin reposado margaritas were delicious. We enjoyed the guacamole from the happy hour menu.. a generous portion and presentation was terrific with whole roasted tortillas ( not chips) and sliced radishes.. lots of cilantro and a little onion to give it crunch.. oh so good. We followed that with a queso dish with mushrooms and short rib tacos.... More than enough for two of us. And we could have shared the churro desert if we'd known how generous a portion it is... but with the soft smooth interior and crunchy outside, strawberries, mint leaves and chocolate (Nutella??) it was easy to eat them both. Siempre is right around the corner from Tru by Hilton hotel.. where were staying for the night before sailing out in the AM. What a good start to the trip. read more

A great new addition to the neighborhood! The drinks were all delicious. The guacamole was delicious, we got it spicy but I wouldn't say it was. The tinga quesadilla was just ok, I think the tortilla was a bit too crispy and it wasn't very cheesy, but the tinga was very good. The birria tacos were excellent, very flavorful consomme. The duck carnitas were incredible. The duck was juicy, tender, and not fatty at all. The sauces were flavorful and a little spicy. Overall, delicious upscale Mexican food and I would definitely come back to try more things. Very attentive staff! read more

And we have a winner! Best guacamole I have ever had! Fresh and flavorful, this generously portioned guac is garnished with beautiful little radish slices and micro greens. (I took the pic after I had already eaten some of it..I just had to stop and say "wait - I'm gonna need to review this"). The full sized corn tortillas had a lovely shatter to them - you could just break off a piece to dip. We definitely asked for more. I hope this new place makes it - the people are sweet, the Peruvian chef knows his way around a mole, and the place has so much charm. I could see us going back even just for a Latin Negroni and the guac at their bar. My husband's half chicken with mole was the winner for him- he declared that he was going to calendar his weekly return for this dish. And while my Chile relleno with walnut sauce was a little on the simple side (will it be the egg style or the deep fried? Turns out just straight up chile) the cheese was delicious and authentic and the pomegranate seeds were a nice touch. The walnut sauce needed just a little salt, but the homemade hot sauces spruced things right up - that adobo has a kick! We ended with the recommended tres leches cake. Totally a gem in this neighborhood! Can't recommend more! There are so many Mexican restaurants around but most are just mediocre, so I didn't have high expectations before walking into Siempre. BUT everything I ordered amazed me so much and I kept going back. The duck dish is absolutely amazing and incredible. I've tried different tacos in here and the chorizo tacos are still my favorite. I also love the vibes and super-friendly staff at Siempre. Now they set up a couple of cute outdoor tables on a deck for summer, you should stop by and give it a try! read more

After visiting Red Igana in Salt Lake City, I'm probably infected by Mexican fever. My last dinner in NYC was Siempre, which was located one block from my Sonder. I always love Sopa Asteca: Siempre's didn't betray my expectation. Taco di Birria (braised short rib) was amazingly well done. It was juicy and a bit smoky. Very complex flavor and I enjoyed it. It was my first time to try Chile Relleno (staffed pepper). I felt the sauce is a bit weak and didn't enhance the flavor of veggies inside. It was 8:30pm on Friday. Solid spot for dinner; nothing mind-blowing, but the quality of the food, service, and ambiance are high and I would go back again if invited. To me, the portions are a bit small for the prices. I tried the mole chicken and the pollo en adobo, and our table split the guacamole to start. Guac was tasty (and spicy, as requested!), but again I felt like portions were small. Siempre is a new and vibrante upscale Mexican restaurant. But let me be clear, this is NOT a TexMex burrito joint. This is not the parody of Mexican cuisine that is so often catered to US consumers. This is not cheap drinks and happy hour with endless chips and salsa. The chef is from Puebla Mexico and brings inspiration from his home. There's cuisine from Puebla as well as from other parts of Mexico such as Yucatán. The chef puts a fresh twist on these traditional dishes. For example cochinita pibil from Yucatán is traditionally a citrus pulled pork dish. The twist here is that it's done as a pork chop. Normally I never eat a pork chop in a restaurant because it ends up dry and hard. This pork chop is injected with duck fat and cooked perfectly! Moist soft and full of that cochinita pibil flavor. Note that they are super cognizant of spiciness and put little to no picante in the dishes. I highly recommend requesting the spicy salsas which they will give you upon request. The cochinita pibil is perfectly paired with a classic habanero salsa! We will be returning here soon! read more

The bartender dropped the ball fully catering to the white men sitting at the bar next to me while disregarding my needs - the black female. An unbelievable gem in a tucked away (so far--builders are at work!) corner of the Gowanus. I am a passionate Mexican food freak, and I have to say their Pipian Verde blew my mind. I expected a tasty, if somewhat gloppy, sauce over the lomo. Instead, the sauce was "baked" (reduced, coated) over the meat, within a delicious white sauce (not listed in online menus, so cannot describe further). My partner has the grilled snapper. Also terrific. There is a serious chef working here. (This is not your "typical," all NY chefs are Mexican, situation.) Listen, I've cooked this stuff for several decades out of Diana Kennedy and others--this "boast" just to say that when I tell you their margaritas are also truly outstanding, please don't laugh. The service is also beyond top-notch. If you're across 4th Avenue and can't get into Claro (which underwhelmed me several years ago, wasn't keen on trying again, and doesn't offer easy Resys), walk down. read more

Bryant was an amazing server. From the moment we walked in, he was so attentive to our needs. Asking if we wanted the table seated close to the cute window, it was a bit chillier and asked if we also wanted to close the doors to avoid the breeze. We proceeded to order our meal and chose the molcajete along with a margarita and michelada. When the drinks arrived, my significant other and I were blown away. The drinks were amazing and as the food arrived, we were even more blown away. We requested a spicier entree if possible, the chef definitely gave us what we asked for. We sad down at a table for four, ordered our drinks (N.A. for me - a virgin pina colada) and were delighted with them and the guacamole. Great mole and salsa entrees - steak/chicken burritos/vegan burritos - all tasty. And to top that off Day of the Dead bread (sweet, light yeast bread) and hot chocolate!
