We've been here two times now and the food is usually pretty good, get the whipped fetta and the brussels sprout appetizer they are really good. Ambiance is good, might be to noisy for some, and the service is as expected from a $100/guest establishment, well trained and attentive. The reason for the 4 out of 5 stars is simple, my wife got the chicken piccata and the breast wasn't pounded out, it was just a big ole breast of chicken prepared "like" chicken piccata would be, very disappointed with that. I had the scallops and they were prepared exquisitely so that was a huge plus but to get 5 out of 5 stars you need to be perfect. read more

We were in Chattanooga visiting family and went here with them for dinner. Reservations for 5.45 and we were seated promptly with no wait at all. We started off with some Okra Chips and Rajas. I am a huge fan of some fried okra, but this dish brought okra to a whole new level! So tasty and crispy. The rajas were also delicious, a very unique dish. I ordered the Pan Roasted Scallops with a side of Sauteed Mushrooms while my wife chose the Shrimp and Grits. The scallops were delicious! A perfect sear on them and cooked just right! That brown butter jus was super and the addition of the maitake mushroom was the right addition to the meal without being overbearing. My side dish of sauteed mushrooms was phenomenal - I am a big fan of mushrooms and this was a tasty mix of cremini, shiitake, maitake mushrooms with some heat from the calabrian chili in the sauce. I was able to grab a bit of my wife's shrimp and grits and they were delicious...most likely the best I have had at a restaurant. The grits were cooked just right (which is so critical in this dish). The shrimp had a really good flavor and the andouille sausage added a little kick of heat to the whole dish...just right. We finished off the night with the Grownup S'mores - SO, SO, SO, SO GOOD! Our server, Grace, was wonderful as well. I asked a friend for brunch recommendations and she suggested Sidetrack. So on our way out to run errands today, we made our first stop Sidetrack. Inconspicuously situated on Hixson Pike, the restaurant is on my way home from work, but I'd never stopped. Now I regret we waited so long to try it! We made a reservation on Resy and didn't have to wait long. Robby was our waiter and, when asked for recommendations, he suggested the breakfast burrito and the eggs Benedict. (They have more clever names on the menu, but I've already forgotten them.) Incredible food and Robby was one of the best waiters ever. We will definitely return! read more

On a search to find a new restaurant to try I stumbled upon this spot. I made a reservation via Resy on the day of my visit for 7:30pm. This restaurant is located directly next to a gas station. If you are going at night it is easy to miss. Note that if you turn at the gas station and go to the rear of the gas station you will be in the parking lot of the restaurant. When I walked in the hostess did not even ask if we had reservations. This was a little disappointing because I noted in the Resy app that we were celebrating a birthday. It would have been nice if this was acknowledged. Even after mentioning that I had one the host acted as if she did not hear me. We were seated immediately and our wait staff came over shortly after. We were given a glass bottle of water and allowed a few minutes to view the menu. We de iced to try the Following shareable: okra chips, wings and feta cheese. Of the three the feta ranked the highest. Whatever honey they use absolutely makes the dish. It is served with earl pita bread. Next would be the okra chips. They were not as good as I was anticipating. They were decent to me. I would not order them again, but would eat them again. My boyfriend had the wings and he said they were a miss. My entree was the fish and chips and my boyfriend had the trout. Note that our waitress advised us that the fish option changed weekly. Our food came out quickly. I was not crazy about the fish and chips. The fish used is catfish. I am not crazy about catfishX I also did not care for the thick breading on the fish. It was just too much for me. I would not order this again. However, the trout and green beans were everything! The green beans had a smoky taste with garlic. The fish was small, but had a good taste. We also ordered the Mexican corn as a side to share. It also had a great taste. I really wanted to try the adult s'mores. After paying the tab and observing another patron get the dessert I had to order it. Oh my gosh- it was everything I imagined. Everything is made in house- graham cracker marshmallow. It is served with ice cream that is sitting on a bed of crushed cookies. Our server was great. She provided just the right amount of attention. She also was not afraid to give her opinion on dishes. While I did not enjoy every item I ordered, the items that were good made up for the ones that were lacking. I also look forward to trying different items on the menu. While visiting Chattanoogo we went to SideTrack for a Sunday brunch. It was fabulous, such a cool spot, neat clean and a terrific menu. Our server was so friendly and right on top of things, everyone was pleased. I had the chicken and waffles, they were tasty, chicken was not spicy just right. Waffle was a perfect size, just enough. The biscuits and gravy had an ample amount of sausage in it and the biscuits were big and fluffy. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, that was made exactly how I like it. The French toast was delicious as well. We also ordered grits, bacon and French fry's, all very good. Everything we ordered was delicious and this place would be a definite spot to return. BLUF: Exceptional food, welcoming and attentive wait staff, and a lovely interior. So, this visit was our first one to SideTrack. We have driven by it for the better part of two (2) years, but we never knew what to expect. Naturally, Yelp gave good reviews, and we thought it was a good bet. We started with the "Truffle Fried Mushrooms," and they were fantastic, as the rosemary, which appears to be growing on site, really gave the dish a wonderful flavor. Second, my wife ordered the "Iceberg Wedge," and we split it at the suggestion of the helpful server who brought it. It also was wonderful, as the fried leeks took it to another level. For our main course, we both chose the "Wood Grilled 8oz Prime Bavette" steak. As we are trying to move beyond our "well-done" roots, we ordered them prepared medium. We also split an order of "Garlic Mashed Potatoes" and "Wood Fire Roasted Carrots." We both had a superior glass of Côtes du Rhône cabernet. HOWEVER, as I have been generous (frankly truthful) with my compliments for all offerings early on, I now have to register a few complaints (genuine) about the main course. The steaks and sides came out borderline warm. The steaks were so flavorful and the sides were so well prepared, but it was a shame that they were not pipping hot. Also, my wife's steak was more rare than medium. Questions: What should one say at this point? Put it back on the grill or put the vegetables in the microwave? The taste kept us from these measures, and we told the waiter, who seemed truly understanding. I said that I did not expect Ruth's Chris sizzling 500-degree plates, but the food was not hot. The waiter responded, "Well, you should expect it to be pipping hot." I felt better about my complaints. My wife and I finished with a shared "Velo Coffee Roasters French Press" and a "Grownup S'mores." NOW, here is were salvation came to our table. The coffee, complete with a set of homemade (?) sugar cubes, was delicious. YET, the dessert is one of the best ones I have ever had in 53 years of life on this planet. It was so very good. I have been here twice due to reviews and its proximity to my hotels. The time of day, busyness of restaurant, and size of my party (1 v. 2) were all different. Despite once even asking to be seated in the quietest place possible, both times I was seated in the last hi-top in the bar in the doorway to the kitchen. I'm a good cook and a hard worker, so when I go out, there are two things I an looking for - food that is at least as good as what I can create and I want to be pampered a bit. SideTrack hits a home run on both. I enjoyed my dinner out tonight with my dear hubby after a long and challenging week. Rob was our waiter and he "pampered" me just fine. Charming, personable, knows the menu, made great recommendations and timed the delivery of appetizers, salads, dinner and dessert just right. Drinks were offered and delivered in a timeline that matched the courses and always with a smile. Rob checked often enough to make sure we were happy with each menu item, but not intrusive or omnipresent. Our appetizers, wedge salad with bacon and our dinners were wonderful. My hubby loved his American Red Snapper and my Prime Bavatte with Rob's suggested sauteed mushrooms scattered atop and wood fired roasted carrots were to die for. The "In Sheep's Clothing" Cabernet was a lovely compliment to my meal... so good I had to have another glass. All in all, a lovely and relaxing evening, well spaced and presented by a staff that knows what they are doing and takes pride in doing it right. This was not our first visit. We have come here before as visitors, now as "locals" we will be regulars. From the moment you are met by the friendly hostess to the moment you leave after being pampered by Rob, you will be happy. I wanted to try this place for awhile and finally bit the bullet and went....at 4:00...umm just realizing the geriatric hour I chose to dine, I prefer to believe I hadn't eaten all day...yeah. Good segue to the restaurant cleanliness...I never comment on this because, well, it's a restaurant - you just expect it to be clean, but whoever closed the night before gave sweeping the floor the big, fat, finger, cause Yikes! I assume it was the night crew cause I was there when they opened, as noted above... So, on my empty stomach, I ordered a recommended drink from Yelp, The Sure Thing. Thank you Yelp - delicious! I ordered the Fried Leeks appetizer to nosh on with my drink and it was pretty good, there were some hard pieces that were unpleasant, but the majority were crispy. The waiter was very helpful and suggested the lasagna and asked if I wanted bread with that. Of course, I accepted this offer because, it's bread...This was an interesting take on lasagna - different, but good, and just the right portion side. That bread tho... It was really hard, not my favorite. Could have been a fluke, but for the $1.50 extra charge, I would pass on the bread.. words that rarely leave my lips! My friends and I would meet here weekly for dinner & drinks and Travis would always have us a table. Any changes or special occasions I could always message him and he would take care of it. You don't get that kind of customer service anywhere anymore and it was something that set Sidetrack apart. Since Travis has been gone the atmosphere has changed and it's just not a good feeling in there and the staff look down. We are moving our weekly dinner. New Year, new discoveries, let's go! First time to eat at SideTrack. Noticed small signage, faded color and hoped other visitors weren't missing where to turn in. Liked the windows in dining area, providing a view and decided on the quiche. Honestly have say I was disappointed. Quiche is a favorite for me, and I've had the French style, Bennigans style, PNW style and now Side Track style. The crust was thick and overcooked, as was the top of quiche a charred brown. Yuck. The filling seemed like a country filling with cheddar, ham and lots of salt. I like salt, but this was too much salt. I'm sorry to share this, but feedback can be valuable, right? Um, somehow I have never been here for brunch (or any other meal), despite being a brunch fanatic, and I'm so mad at myself for waiting so long to try this place out. First of all, it was so cute inside and the entire staff seemed so nice and attentive. But, obviously what stood out the most was the food! We started out with an order of beignets after noticing literally everyone around us had them, so we figured they must be good. We were definitely not disappointed. I ordered the chicken and waffles and they were soooo good. The chicken was so tender and was glazed in some sort of spicy/sweet sauce, and honestly was some of the best chicken and waffles I've had in a while. My friends got the chorizo breakfast burrito (also delicious) and the lasagna (didn't try but looked great).
