Authentic sichuan cuisine! This place was crowded on a Sunday afternoon with a wait the entire time we were there. Full of families enjoying lunch! Mapo Tofu was spicy and peppery with lots of silken tofu. Boiled fish was full of meat and veggies. We ordered the salt and pepper squid but they accidentally delivered the salt and pepper fish. We ate a few pieces before they realized their mistake and brought the squid. I actually preferred the fish. They charge for steamed rice so be aware since most places don't. 4.5 stars. This is probably one of the highest standards of Sichuan cuisine in DFW. We came here on a Saturday night for dinner, no problem getting a seat quickly around 6pm. The servers were nice and friendly. Hotpot frogs - 4/5 stars. The frog is something you all should try once. Very fresh and they said they cooked it with live frogs. You can tell the texture is better than frozen ones. Orange chicken - 4/5 stars. Got this for the kids and it was fairly good. Real white and clean chicken meat deep fried with a thick sweet sour sauce. Chili oil fish - 5/5 stars. Flavorful, hot and spicy, and the peppercorns were the highlight. The fish was so silky and tender. Sichuan cold noodles- 2/5 stars. Underwhelming, I won't order it again. Noodles were not chewy, the sauce didn't have the complex flavor I was looking for. The worst thing about the experience and the reason we will not most likely go back is the place was SO LOUD! I practically lost my voice trying to talk to the person across the table. At first glance place is clean and fairly new looking. There was a self check in kiosk that said there was 3 ahead of us but it went fast. We sat down the waitress took our food order quickly. No menus you have to scan a QR and order thru that as well. We ordered the egg rolls, soup dumplings, combo fried rice, combo lo mien, twice cooked pork, three mushrooms, minced pork with yam noodles. Everything came out as it was made by whatever server was available. Everything was good but the minced pork with yam noodles was different. Not bad just different. The fried rice was nothing special compared to the other stuff. The lo mien noodles had a very good garlic flavor and the twice cooked pork was excellent but a tad spicy. I really wish I would have ordered one of the frog dishes. I will be back to try one. The type of service I don't really care for. It takes away from the experience I think. The whole do it yourself without paper menus or a server to talk to is the thing now but I don't care for it. Not having one server from start to finish leaves you just waiting longer than you should to get anything like napkins, soy sauce, or anything like that. I'll know for next time. I was right, we were charged for dinner portions!!! I then asked for receipt since we already paid using their table side tablet. She just gave me the credit card receipt and not the itemized bill! Amazing Chinese food! I thoroughly enjoyed my first dining experience here. We had a party of 12 people and of course there's a lot of things to tend to for such a big group, but the servers were really attentive and made sure we had our teas/waters refilled all the time. The food was as great as the service. Every dish we had was tasty and felt high quality. Nothing was super salty/tough like how other Chinese restaurants' dishes are. We ordered the salt and pepper squid, spicy dumplings, fried tofu, sweet and spicy soup, pork ribs, green beans, snow peas, eggplant, and general tsao's chicken. I enjoyed the spicy dumplings and the eggplant dish the most! Their eggplant was so good - I usually never like eating it back in California (where I'm from) but they grill the eggplant to a certain texture that is really enjoyable to eat Vs. all soft/mushy. To be honest, I do not like this place. We ordered six dishes, none of them surprised me. The vege is very common just like home-made dish. The pork rib is unpopular, my friends do not like it, I have to eat them all by myself. The fried chicken is just like what we always eat in restaurant or frozen food. Sichuan Folk is one of those hands down delivers homestyle authentic food. It's not like my grandmas but it's one of the closest to it. You can choose the left side which is total hot pot or you can choose the right side for ordering dishes. If you have kids that don't eat that much, always opt for the right side. Just fantastic: great food, speedy service with a nice digital ordering system, authentic music with plenty of space between tables and a clean, simple aesthetic to the interior. We tried the Lo mein, basil eggplant, soup dumpling, scallion pancake, cumin lamb, crispy beef, and sesame chicken. All amazing. Best Schezuan/Sichuan/ Szechwan food i've had in a LONG time! Ok so first, it was delivery/pickup and i'm just not going to take a picture of that, but it was packaged well and we had no leaks...if that matters to you. I ordered: spicy shrimp with crispy rice, veggie egg roll, fried string beans, pork soup dumplings, steamed rice, dan dan noodles, Chang's dumplings, and veggie lo mein. Is that a lot? Yes, very much so. I ordered too much food, i get it, i have a problem with proportions. But to be fair, TO BE FAIR!!! delivery fees and taxes and tips right? Like i'm going to order my moneys worth cuz i'm lazy okay? Not a single damn thing wasn't delicious. They, and i'm being honest, made me remember why i loved Chinese food. The spicy shrimp with crispy rice: they, for some reason that i don't know but i'm not about to complain, sent me 2 orders rather than just the 1. I couldn't stop eating them. Like, wait till the house is asleep and sneak into the kitchen and eat them out of the to-go container, cold, in the dark, by the refrigerator light, sort of addictive. Chang's dumplings were good, BUT the sauce that came with them for dipping....MY LORD! Its the best part. Would order a literal VAT of this. I put the extra on the dan dan noodles and i'm ashamed at the look of my face after eating the remains, cold, in one go. Soup dumplings were delightful, flavorful, and consumed en mass. Lo mein was a hit with everyone, so addictive. String beans were the most popular of the night but the shear amount of garlic involved will heed our reorder: they were so damn delicious but if that amount of garlic doesnt set your tail pipe to kick back i don't know what will. 10/10 would back fire again. Least impressive item: veggie egg roll...meh, fine, would rather order something else and find out. Everything else...literally please let me scoop this in my mouth cold from the fridge don't look at me...or do look directly at me. So so so so good.
