Eggplants

My only complaint is that we didn't bring more people to come eat with us! Although, between the three of us, I think we did an excellent job! It was my first time, but my bro & sil loves this place. We came in for an early lunch on a Sunday and were seated right away. They ordered their usuals which were the deep fried fish w roasted chili, pork with bamboo shoots, and eggplants. I added hot & spicy wontons and salted egg yolk fried shrimp. Everything was delicious and we devoured it all. Service was friendly and the place was nearly packed by the time we left. Ordering was easy. You scan the QR code and actually select your dishes through the app. They come over and confirm your order. Can't wait to come back to try more dishes and bring more people to share it with!

Amazing food & great service. Food is always fresh and delicious. Family style restaurant with a lot of options for everyone's taste.

Takeout order: Spicy tofu and fish fillet, deep fried chicken with chili peppers

I've been looking for a go-to Sichuan place in Dallas, having just moved from Houston and relying on Mala for all my Sichuan cravings. My friend recommended Sichuan Folk, and I finally got a chance to try them last weekend! My experience is only for take-out orders, but wow was I impressed! First of all, the service was friendly and quick. I waited just 10 minutes for my order on Saturday at 5 pm. I got the deep fried chicken with chili and spicy tofu and fish fillet. The portions were so generous - it fed me for several meals! I would opt for a higher spice level for the fish fillet, but the chicken was perfectly spicy and crispy. I imagine everything would taste even better fresh. I would definitely come back to try more of their menu!

Sichuan Folk is one of the best places to get your Sichuan fix in Plano! The place gets busy so make sure to get on their waitlist. The service is fast and reliable. The Mapo Tofu is spicy and delicious. The twice fried Fish was crispy and light. They do have non spicy options as well for those you might want to try them. They also cater to vegan and vegetarian options Ambiance is clean and bright. Definitely try them if you are close to Plano Frisco area

FOOD: We ordered the cucumber salad, Basil Chicken & Kung Pao Chicken. My daughter liked the cucumber salad and her Basil Chicken. The Kung Pao chicken had big chunks of ginger in it & was not close to what I am used to in Kung Pao. ATMOSPHERE: The whole place is very sterile, boxy & cold. Seating is wherever you choose. SERVICE: The menu is a QR code (way past COVID, so why?). After you submit your order, someone comes to confirm your order. The service people did NOT speak English and this was a barrier the entire meal. We asked for 3 to-go boxes & they brought tiny ones that only fit the rice. My daughter had to go get the larger boxes to put the entrees in. That was not received well by the staff, but we asked 3 people for bigger to-go containers. TIPS: go early as this placed filled to capacity by 12:30. Lots of to-go orders, so it is doing something right. I will not return.

Any Sichuan place that has cucumber salad, soup dumplings and string beans, I'm always getting them to compare. Cucumbers here were cold and refreshing but lacked flavor. We added so much chili oil and only the pieces with lots of garlic on them were good. Soup dumplings are very different from other places. Their filling is way more seasoned than the others and the skin a bit too thick for my liking. Green beans were good but slightly overcooked. The deep fried chicken was honestly the best dish we got! Super crispy and perfectly seasoned. The Sichuan peppers weren't too numbing and it wasn't overly spicy. Please pass on the beef noodle soup... it was a huge salty portion and the beef wasn't the most tender. I liked the noodles in them but can only recall the salt! Apparently their mayo tofu is really good so might come back to try this place again but you know what I won't be ordering.

Nice dining environment with good service but unfortunately the dishes we ordered were just not up to par in my opinion... We got the soup dumplings, lamb with cumin sauce, and basil eggplant. The soup dumplings were definitely the best part of the meal as they were juicy and flavorful; however, both of the other dishes were severely under salted. While the flavors were decent, they could have been easily elevated if there was just more salt added!

This is my favorite restaurant in DFW!! The food it always top notch and favorites are the dry fried string beans, A-Vegtable Garlic, chili fried Chicken & Chili fried Fish!! The food always hits the perfect flavor and has a diverse menu from super authentic to your typical American Chinese favorites. Even for large groups the food comes out quickly and delicious. The staff is super friendly and always remembers us when we come which makes for a special experience. The staff don't always speak perfect English but are helpful and friendly . You order through an app so no worries about getting the wrong order. The new location is so modern, clean and inviting. If you have not been yet don't walk run there and get something delicious!! Prices are super reasonable for the huge portions!! I go often but crave this place every day!!

Went back to Sichuan Folk and ordered some different items than we had previously ordered. We still got the mapo tofu because it's my favorite dish and this place does it better than anywhere else. We also got the soup dumplings (Xiao long nap or XLB). These were excellent and huge. So big in fact that they didn't fit on the spoon. They give you what looks like soy sauce but it's a black vinegar mix that you use with the soup dumplings. We also ordered the fried fish filet in spicy pepper. Wow this was delicious. You don't eat all the red peppers but they add flavor and heat to the fish. we also had the cucumber salad. Crisp, cool and garlicky.

All the food is naturally spicy and extremely delicious. This is authentic Sichuan food served in a modern and appropriately brightly-lit dining room with very kind wait staff. The lamb in the lamb with cumin sauce was very tender and my wife said the flavor in the cumin sauce reminded her of the flavor of hot dog chili and I can't unhear it now lol. She's absolutely right but I still loved it. The dry fried green beans were salty, perfectly al dente, and super garlicky. The soup dumplings were of a flavor profile I never had before, unique, and perhaps a family recipe, but either way I can't wait to go back and have more. My wife's dan dan noodles had big punchy flavor and came out piping hot. I want to try so much more of this menu.

Hot and sour soup, suitable for vegetarians

Chinese restaurant, yes another one, as they are the most flavorful and flexible when you can't have garlic or onion. What I ate: Salt and pepper tofu - yum! Bitter melon with black bean sauce Homestyle Tofu Shredded potato with vinegar sauce Basil eggplant Hot and sour soup Probably need additional greens. Flavors All good! Another 'authentic Chinese' restaurant. Not your typical Chinese American eatery and a lot of Chinese came in as the night progressed. Price: pretty good! 6 orders for $70 and the servings were good Speed: we came at 5:30 for an early dinner, no crowd and we for our food quickly Service: not bad! We came in before the crowd so it wasn't bad as the reviews say so best to come in when there's no crowd. Tables and Decor: accommodates small and large groups. Decor is bare, clean space, noisy with no sound absorption materials. We are here to eat so you probably wouldn't notice this.

We have to order by scanning a QR code at our table. After the order is placed, the host will double check our order. There was no clear indication if the order came with rice, so we ordered two bowls of rice and ended up with a large container of rice. Having to pay for rice was always a deterrent for me. The food was good though. I just prefer ordering with paper menu and talking to someone. We did see some people bring drinks, so it looks like it is byob.

This is Sichuan Folk's new location! We came by on a Wednesday for lunch around 12:30 pm and it was pretty busy with only a few open tables. The new location is pretty spacious with plenty of tables for both average parties and large groups. Luckily we were able to be seated immediately. Their menu and ordering system are all digital which can be accessed by scanning the QR code at the table. They serve authentic Szechuan cuisine. While they have a whole separate section on their menu for Americanized Chinese food, their specialty are their Szechuan dishes. We ordered minced beef with egg white soup (西湖牛肉羹), A vegetable (A菜), hibachi frog (铁板牛蛙), spicy chicken with chili sauce (椒麻鸡). The rice needs to be ordered separately. We wanted to try their non-spicy dishes today. Warm water is available upon request, but the water tasted weird (probably tap). Some dishes have to be pre-ordered by calling ahead given limited supply and how long it takes to cook. The food came out pretty fast. The soup came out first steaming hot. Wasn't too salty, not much meat, plenty of mushrooms and egg whites. The hibachi frog looked amazing; the meat was fresh, tender, and flavorful, and is served on a hot plate. There's just a teensy bit of spice to add flavor but not enough to burn. The chicken is a cold dish and was very numbing. Some of the meat was a bit overcooked, but the meat soaking in the sauce was tender. The chicken has jalapeños sitting on top but the dish isn't spicy (as long as you don't eat the jalapeños). The A vegetables were alright, not too salty. Everything was pretty good. None of it was spicy. Despite that I've had their spicy food for takeout before and if you can handle it, I highly recommend their spicy dishes over non-spicy ones.

Is everything hot? I've never had Sichuan before and are coming this month with a group

Nope! My grandson eats with us and he usually gets the chicken lo mien. They also have good pot stickers and soups. Ask for Michael! He is super helpful.

How does their hot.pot compare to little sheep?

Our Hot Pot is authentic Sichuan ( or chongqing) Style hot pot, spicy and tasty. Little sheep is more like chinese northern area hot pot, non spicy. Thank you

They are serious about the spiciness here! If you love heat, this is your place, though I'll probably stick to the milder broths next time. The broth was well-flavored and the meats were excellent quality. Compared to other hot pots, the vegetable selection is a bit more limited, and they offer a variety of paid drinks like milk tea and canned sodas. Pro Tip: Definitely save room for the Korean Shaved Ice. It's light, delicious, and way bigger than it looks in the photos--one was more than enough for me! We will definitely be back soon.

Including drinks and changing the seafood / freezer items was probably one of their best decision ever. While the interior layout remains mostly unchanged, prior to the change I was a little worried about their business because it seemed kind of slow after other new competition opened in the area but I'm happy to see them make changes for the better and thriving. Meat quality is excellent, service is friendly and now they include a homemade shaved ice dessert which is cool. The only unfortunate thing is that they've bumped up their "basic" menu quite a bit and kinda priced me out of what I would call a quick casual go-to meal. While I am happy they are doing well, it's just not a place that I can frequent anymore especially being that my wife doesn't eat that much anyway. Would have been nice to have a slightly lower tier option available as not everyone cares for Wagyu. Definitely still an authentic hot pot experience though!
