I eat a lot of Thai. I mean, I eat so much Thai that I fantasize about moving across the street from a Thai restaurant and striking a deal to get 3 meals a day from them for some flat weekly/monthly fee. I have eaten in dozens of Thai restaurants (the best, so far, in St. Louis) and never ever get sick of it. All that being said, this is respectable Thai. I went with a friend and had the Pad Thai--my "test dish" the first time I go to any Thai restaurant. It was proper, authentic Pad Thai well made: not too sweet, a little tangy, a little earthy, nice and spicy (which you can of course control). My friend had the Massaman curry and swore it was amazing. I didn't taste it, but she eats a s***-ton of Thai, too (once even had a separate, dedicated "Thai food budget"!), so I trust her opinion. I will go back, and hopefully update this review then to cover other dishes. read more

Siam Square is definitely my go to Thai place in Indy. After discovering how much I love Thai food in college and while living in Chicago, I've had trouble finding a place that lives up to my expectations. Siam Square is as good as it gets! My go-to at this point is the Cashew Chicken. It is definitely two portions worth, served with a great selection of veggies (onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc.), and in a thin broth-y type sauce rather than a creamy/corn starchy type sauce. They have four levels of heat, and level 2 is about as far as I can go (makes me break out in a light but pleasant sweat). Level 1 seems to be totally bland in my experience. Other things that we've tried include drunken noodles, Bangkok fried rice, stir fried vegetables, and sweet and sour chicken. It's all been great. What I love most about Siam Square is the quality of the ingredients (we all know that sometimes you have to worry about mystery meat), and it makes me feel confident in trying something I've never had before because I know it's not going to have any gross-ness in it. The veggies are always bright and fresh, too! We usually do take out, and they do a great job of packaging things separately so that they don't get soggy or change temperature too quickly. Even if we call at peak dinner time, the wait is usually only about 25 minutes, which is fine by the time we get there. The price is probably a little higher than typical (both for Thai food and for what I'd expect for the area), but it's worth it to me. There are definitely deals to be had at lunch time. read more

Tasty, and smartly decorated in a way you would expect of an urban Thai Restaurant (and would not expect of its strip-mall counterparts). But the spicing sensitivity is the key to a subtly wonderful Thai restaurant, and Siam Square in Greenwood (you know, in the strip mall, with the boring interior) runs circles around this place. Not all Midwesterners are afraid of a little kick, but this was the tamest request for "Hot" I had ever had from Thai food in my life. Incredibly wimpy. The veggies were fresh, service was brisk, and the dishes looked fantastic--both the presentation and the plates on which they were served, but I guess that is part of the presentation. Siam Square really deserves 3.5 stars, and I would no doubt go back. But since most Indianapolitans from north of Washington Street think that southside Indy is akin to venturing to Afghanistan, I guess that gives us country bumpkins more chance to support Thai Spice, a place for truly first-class cuisine. read more

After living in Indy for over two years and explaining how I always wanted to try Siam Square, my girlfriend treated me to a surprise date at the Fountain Square eatery. Finally! I'm such a fan of Thai food, I was really looking forward to the experience. It's a cozy restaurant that has a lot going for it. I wish the ceiling was insulated or padded so that the conversational noise level was lower, it was difficult to hold a two-way discussion with how loud it was that night. I enjoyed perusing the menu options and seeing all the variety, I wanted to try probably five different entrees, but settled on the Pad Ped; this dish had a great ratio of spice and seasoning so that you enjoyed the food, but with a bit of kick. The Singha (Thailand) beer went well with it, too. The service was OK, our waitress had some awkward moments where she seemed not to know what was going on. Maybe it was her first day... At any rate, the prices were reasonable and the food quality met my expectations. I know there is more to this place than I first experienced, I'm looking forward to visiting Siam Square again soon to try all the other dishes I wanted, maybe even for lunch. read more

Siam Square is the best place in town for Thai food. They have the best pad Thai of any place in Indy (seriously, get the pad Thai with tofu... amazing), but it doesn't stop there. Everything on the menu is great. The mango with sticky sweet rice is a tasty ending to any meal as well. read more

I venture to say this is the best Thai food I have had in Indianapolis. The flavors are spot on, the portion sizes are huge, and the service is great. They are always busy in the restaurant so I sometimes order take out. If you call in they are relatively fast in having your order ready when they say. My favorite dishes are some variety on a noodle dish but everything I've had is delicious. They are located in Fountain Square which is a great neighborhood to walk around and explore. The lunch deal they have is one of the best and I suggest trying it out if you can. read more

My favorite thai spot in Indy! I've had the Pad Krapow, Pad thai, two curries, the drunken noodles and the soup which have all been delicious. I think this is one of the best Thai places I've ever eaten at, and that's high praise. The atmosphere in the restaurant isn't much to brag about and, being on Virginia on the way into the busy part of Fountain Square, it can be easy to overlook when looking for a new restaurant to visit. That's the only thing keeping me from 5 stars, but the most important part is the food, right? Well, in Indy, Thai food can't get better. It is, however, worth the reroute to Fountain Square. I had a small lunch plate of the Crab Rangoon and Pad See Ew with tofu. First off, the rangoon was unlike any I've ever had, appearing to have been made by hand or at the very least, with more care and precision than what you may get at a standard asian establishment. The noodles were rich in flavor but not overwhelming like Thai can tend to be. Definitely will be returning soon! read more

After the renovation I was very concerned the quality of food would be worse, however the food is the same as before the remodel. However the new system to order and receive your food has drastically decreased the service and the ability to have an enjoyable meal with a group. I have eaten there numerous times pre-remodel and the service and food was great. I have eaten there 3 times since the remodel. Once with 2 people, once with a group of 8 people and the last time with 4 people. Everyone receives their food whenever the kitchen finishes each individual order, which means the table never receives all meals at the same time. The last experience I ate there, one person received an incorrect order, the appetizer was delivered after 3 people received and had eaten most of their entree ( which was delivered at all different times.) I received my entree after everyone had finished their meal. Unfortunately we will not be returning. We let the hostess know about the problems. And the answer we received was to have one person pay for all the food and we split the bill amongst ourselves. This is entirely unacceptable. In the past, we would meet there once a month and really enjoyed the food and visiting with friends. However no more at Siam Square. I wish them the best and hope they can figure out how to improve the service back to its original enjoyable level. read more

Very disappointed with the remodel and new ordering system. I am sure that management did this for a reason, however, I am not sure it's going to work out like they expected....!? This used to be a regular go-to spot for us, however now it feels more like high priced fast food. We now occasionally order takeout because the food is good, however, no more date night visits. Okay so I used to live in downtown Indianapolis with my brother and we LOVED this place. Hands down the best Thai food we ever had. Well unfortunately we both moved to bigger cities with better food but no Thai food matched up to Siam Square. We always raves about the Pad Thai...other places used to make it sweet and mild. This place was Totally savory and when you asked for hot...it was too hot to handle but still every time we Ordered it it was "Thai hot please!!" We would sit at home with stacks of napkins to wipe our runny noses. Water and milk to soothe our mouths it was too good. After 3 years i came back with my husband today because it was on our way home. I was so excited to have that same pad Thai I have been craving for years. The pad Thai turned sweet. When I asked for hot l got tres mild. I'm Indian and I absolutely love HOT AND SPICY but this was yuck. My husband ordered his favorite, the drunken noodles, that is supposed to be a savory dish but that unfortunately was sweet and not Hot either. I don't know whether their chef changed But I am still on the search of that pad Thai I had years ago. If the chef did leave can I find out where he went please? read more

Pad Krapow lunch special was borderline great, 4.5 stars. They hit the medium heat level just right on both visits although I would love it if they offered a medium-hot tier. Siam roll was fine, 3.5 stars. Disclaimer: I love Thai spring rolls ... but I don't understand the raving reviews for this one. Just a pretty standard version with decent-but-not-great dipping sauce. Overall, a winner especially considering the complete lack of Thai restaurants downtown. The Pad Krapow is worth the visit and Siam Square ranks as one of the better places in town (behind Thai Kitchen in Carmel and Thai Spice in Greenwood). read more

I was just here for the first time with some of my family this past Sunday. We'd had a birthday party, but were hungry again that evening and we ended up here. It seemed to be one of the only restaurants that was open on Sunday night in the neighborhood. It was nice to see Fountain Square. It had been many years for me since I had been to the area. It seems to have grown quite a bit and looks nice. It just might be slightly too trendy for me, as I felt surrounded by hipsters in the restaurant. Siam Square was quite full and we had to wait a few minutes for a table. The noise level was pretty extreme, but could probably be toned down if there were more furnishings inside to absorb the sound. It was decorated nicely, but it's a shotgun-style buliding that is all one long room with everyone's conversations echoing and bouncing off all the hard surfaces. If you are looking for an intimate evening including conversation, this would not be the place, unless it was a slower night perhaps. I did like that their menu had many vegetarian and vegan options. I went with the Kao Pad with tofu and asked that they leave off the egg. It was very good. I don't see that dish on many menus and had not had it in years. It was my go-to when Thai House was still around. I have yet to make it to Thai Papaya to see how that is... The kao pad at Thai House was slightly better than here, as it had brown tofu which was absolutely delicious, but I must say, I have not seen brown tofu anywhere else since. Here at Siam it was a decent portion size and tasty. I did have a few more bites even though I was full and enjoyed the other half at home later. It would be nice to have a bit more tofu on it and maybe some soy sauce on the side. I did take notice of the nice shapes given to the carrots. One was in the shape of a flower and the others were in a sort of crinkle cut. It was a nice presentation. They also had a nice selection of beers that seemed to mostly be from Indiana and other parts of the Midwest. I had a wheat beer from Michigan, I believe, that was near the top of the menu. My cousin had a cider that she seemed to enjoy. I like cider, but it does not like me, so I didn't get to try it. My uncle tried one of the draft beers, but it was a little disappointing that they only had two beers on tap. The entrees my family ordered all looked good, but I do not recall what they had. I'm not sure, but I don't think there was a charge for two of them to split a dish. At some places that can be pricy. All in all, Siam Square left a pretty good impression on me. Service was a bit slow, but I took their being crowded into consideration. I also thought the prices seemed a bit high, but I suppose that comes with the territory in the now trendy Fountain Square. I had a nice time with my family here and enjoyed riding through Fountain Square and downtown. Siam probably won't become one of my regular spots, but I would return for the Kao Pad, for sure. Great choice if you're in a group of people with different dietary needs/preferences. read more

What a yummy Thai place! I had the Pad Seuw with chicken, which was a huge portion that magically disappeared from my plate--I serious could not stop eating. I typically prefer shrimp with my Thai dishes, but the additional cost of shrimp ($3) at Siam is a bit crazy. I'm dinging a star for crazy costly shrimp. We were there early on a weeknight and easily got seated, but by the time we left around 6:30 it was hopping. I couldn't believe how busy it was on a Monday! Surely a good sign that it's a great place for your Thai fix. I wouldn't recommend it for large groups though, it's a little place. read more

Grouper and Yum Sauce! What more do I need to say. Visited Siam after a great day of wine tasting. They have great appetizers but my go to is the veggie tempura, friend green beans, eggplant, broccoli and yum sauce. I have my go to dishes at Siam I usually pick either the beef & broccoli, bangkok rice with beef, or the grouper filet with yum sauce. These of course are with medium heat, they have mild through Thai hot, I have never been so adventurous to go that hot. One day maybe lol. After long debate, I went with the grouper and I was very happy I did. It was so good and what I needed at that moment. It was fried but not greasy. The onions and peppers that came with it added to the overall flavor of the dish. It came with a bowl of white rice and was plated very beautifully. I felt bad eating the pretty carrots that were shaped as crowns. The group finished our meal with Siam's roti rolls. These are the bomb it's like if you rolled up an elephant ear and drizzled condensed milk all over it. This is a must try it is SO GOOD! Great experience at Siam per the usual. read more

I forking love this place. It's a known fact that I have to take all of my new hires to this place because a) most of them have never had Thai (I was a Thai virgin previously myself), and b) what better place to go to on the Square than this? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love me quite a few other restaurants, but when I think of Fountain Square, I think of Siam Square first! Paid Thai, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Thom Thom Soup, Drunken Noodles. The exploration of food opportunities is endless! I typically never venture far from my Pad Thai, but when I do, it's always fantabulous. Hints to newbies: Don't go on a Friday during lunch- super busy, and if you do, go at 11:30 or 2:00!! Also, they have an upstairs area. If going with a work group- request the upstairs as the downstairs is super loud and can be hard to have a 'work meeting' (wink wink). Other than that- I would LOVE to see a bar at this place. That would definitely kick it up a notch, but even without the bar, it's my easy go to place in FS. read more

In my experience, there are two types of Thai restaurants: those that give you enough food, and those that don't. Guess which kind Siam Square is? Today was my last visit here. Their lunch portions go from small to extremely small. Today my drunken noodles were fairly small, but my friend's sweet and sour was a joke: tiny volume overall and literally 5 or 6 miniscule pieces of chicken in it. Moreover, at $9.99, their lunch special is one of the most expensive in Indy. I've also had dinner here. The portions were small then too. In terms of flavor, the food is good but not mind-blowing. It's in a good location, and it is absolutely slammed at lunchtime. It seems that about half of Eli Lilly's employees come here every day. They are not hurting for business, but there is better and cheaper Thai in town. My Thai recommendations are Thai Orchid and Sawasdee on the north side, Thai Kitchen in Fishers, Thai Castle in Carmel, Bangkok downtown, and Thai Spice on the south side/Greenwood. These places all have excellent food and good portions. Well, Thai Castle is a bit skimpy, actually, but the food is excellent and they have some unusual and lunch specials. read more

My favorite Thai place in Indy. It's a cute, cozy, chic place in Fountain Square with great prices. I'd love to say I've tried more than just the Pad Thai but it's my treat to myself each time. Some day. But my friends have loved everything they've tried (I meet people here a lot for dinner.) Drunken noodles and red or green curry are favorites. In terms of appetizers, they have the best crab Rangoon, egg rolls and chicken satay in town. Love the Cataluna savignon blanc from Chile and the Roti Rolls for dessert are INCREDIBLE. I am thrilled that there is a decent thai restaurant near me! Coming from Chicago, where 5 great thai places delivered to my home-this place is a welcome addition to downtown/fountain square. Now if only they would deliver! Please? It is a little overpriced, but I agree with other posters that they really can get away with it in a neighborhood that is desperate for some good ethnic food. The mussaman curry is my favorite and I don't think I could get sick of it. My partner loves the spring rolls and the tempura too. We went there the other night for some spicy soup to cure our colds and it did the trick! We also noticed that they are opening a curious lil bar in the basement and I will be interested to see what they do with it. I hope people in Indy will give this place a shot, especially if you live in the neighborhood. If we want Indy to have more ethnic restaurants, we've got to start supporting the ones we already have. read more

Ventured to Fountain Square for the first time a few weeks ago to try Siam Square and it did not disappoint! I can't say I'm much of a Thai food connoisseur, but I've had my fair share of Thai fried rice and Siam Square ties for first place in my book. The Bangkok Fried Rice comes packed with veggies and your choice of meat (my choice was chicken). I typically go for a medium heat, something to give it flavor and spice, but nothing I'm guzzling water over. My brother had the Drunken Noodles which, while the dish as a whole probably isn't my thing, the noodle I tried was delicious! Neither of these dishes, however, stood up to my husbands Pad Thai! The flavor was absolutely mouthwatering. I believe he went for about an 8 on a 10 scale for heat and it was perfect. The Pad Thai will definitely be my choice during our next visit! All in all I'm SO glad we finally took the trip down to FS to give things a try. We will definitely be back again! read more

Truthfully this is like the only place in indianapolis that serves good Thai food.. So it's pretty hard to compare it to anything else. I recommend coming during lunch, because the price is pretty daring for dinner, but since they are really the only place serving good Thai, they can do and charge whatever they want. The lunch is a lot more affordable with a Thai roll and soup included in their lunch special, and it seems like I comes out faster than dinner. I have mixed feelings about the spice. I always ask for Thai spicy and sometimes it's hot and sometimes not, but where else can you go for a nice shrimp Pad Thai? I usually get take out and eat it at home with as much chili and rice as I want. So tldr: good but could be better, but since there's no competition.. I doubt it read more

The best Thai Food experience I(my group) have ever had. We stumbled upon the place through Yelp. Though it may be located a little outside of main downtown, the neighbour looked trendy. The local beer selection was really nice. They have an option of mild hot to thai hot and both tasted delicious without burning my mouth. I am coming back to try new dishes next time. I tried the green curry thai hot while my group went with the crab. Do end your meal with roti rolls as dessert. read more

I've come here a couple times now, and I'd say the food is great but that there is not always consistency in the spice level. Sometimes hot tastes mild, and sometimes it makes me sweat. You order at the counter, and from what I understand, it wasn't like this before the remodel. It's not really a good spot for a date or more nice dinner, but the prices are similar to full-service restaurants in the area, so I'm not sure what moving to counter service is going to do for them. The food is still the best Thai I've had in the city so I'll keep going back and enjoying the food without a real "experience." read more

Tried the eggplant last night and it was melt in your mouth awesome. The Thai Iced tea here is fab as well.
