Shyp is truly amazing. Standing in line and dealing with the post office (or UPS/FedEx) is about as fun as going to the dentist. While going to the dentist may be a requisite for good oral hygiene, going to the post office is neither good for your health, nor an enjoyable experience. Fortunately, since Shyp entered my life, I plan to never step foot in a shipping store again. Shyp's app was easy to use, the courier was pleasant and arrived within about 10 minutes, and the cost to ship was comparable with any of the major shippers (UPS, etc). The $5 fee for each pickup is beyond worth the time or hassle of dealing with shipping myself. I highly recommend the service! read more

I used Shyp to send my friend a gift that I got her while traveling. The pickup was so easy - literally just taking a picture of the item, entering her address and hitting the pickup button. My hero arrived in just over 10 min, and couldn't have been nicer. He took the wrapped gift from me and about an hour later I got an email with the tracking number. I stayed with a buddy and his family in Chicago a couple weeks ago and managed to leave a pair of shoes behind. Would have been a huge favor to ask him to find a box, box and tape them up, go to a UPS or Fedex or post office, and then mail them to me. Beware the "bait and switch" with this company regarding Goodwill donation pickups. The website says it is free, but they actually send it by FedEx or some other carrier and you get the bill. In addition, they won't tell you what that bill will be. Don't be fooled by their website. check the review by Bill H. he obviously had the same experience. read more

I had to ship a sweater sale from ebay but I was in between business trips and too busy to go to the post office myself during business hours. I found out about Shyp on Buzzfeed and living in SF, Im always down to try a new app. I scheduled a pick up for later that day and shortly after they picked up the item, I received an email notification for tracking. I contacted the buyer on ebay and she had safely received the item. Not sure how often I will use this service but from my experience I have no complaints and have already been recommending friends! read more

Edit: after posting this review, Shyp agreed to refund the full cost. I've upgraded the rating from 1 to 4 stars. --- I've used Shyp a few times - generally they have been good. But the most recent time, it was a disaster, both in shipping and service. I used them to return a faulty earphone, which costs $430. The package was undelivered and returned to them (unclear why - the returns department said they had no issues receiving packages, although Shyp seemed to have the address correct). When Shyp opened the package upon receiving it, there was no earphone inside. Two possibilities: 1) USPS opened the package, removed a single faulty earphone, and then resealed the the documents inside the package. 2) Shyp didn't include the earphone in the package. I think (2) is more likely here - Shyp disagreed, wouldn't get on the phone, and I'm left with a $100 refund from USPS, and a bunch of time sunk into working this out. And USPS seems to be on the hook for Shyp's mistake. read more

EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE.I live on Fifth Avenue in NYC and after I downloaded the app and put In all of my information the app said I was not within their service area - in NYC? - I called customer service and waited for a return call, which never came. After many such phone calls, I offered to pay extra if they would make an exception - I was told they DO NOT service my area and could not help me and there was no one in management available to speak to me for at least two days. THE WHITE GLOVE, RELIABLE SERVICE IS A FARCE. I live in a luxury building next door to Mount Sinai but I think because my zip code is 10029 which comes up as Harlem the company has decided we are not worthy. I reiterate I live on FIFTH AVENUE on the PARK and they DO NOT service my ZIP CODE. Really? read more

a friend of mine referred me to shyp as she had used them multiple times to make donations to goodwill. they had a promotion over the summer for free donation pickups. after summer she donated again for just the $5 pickup fee, and no questions asked or information provided. so i used them to donate three grocery bags of stuff to the goodwill several blocks away. the delivery person was very nice and quick. but i was very shocked when i got a charge for $30 for the service. i contacted support and explained. they said that the delivery person for my friend had thought the promotion was still going on, so they had made an exception for her pickup. they had never told her this and so i followed her recommendation, expecting the same service. the support rep simply left my email response unanswered, and had offered me only a $10 credit for future service. shyp requires a good amount of trust in them to safely transport your things and to charge you a fair cost for shipment. based on my experience, i don't have enough faith that they would provide honest, transparent service or work to fairly resolve any future issues. read more

I used Shyp to coordinate a cross country move and had about 8-10 heavy boxes (rough estimate). While most of the items did arrive safely to their destination, the organization was awful. Shyp unpacked all my taped boxes and kind of packed them up however they would fit. They also delivered the boxes out of order and even placed a series of 4 heavy boxes into one giant box and delivered it to the wrong house (luckily, our neighbor was nice enough to inform us of this). However, the real problem came when they flat out lost one of my boxes (the app kept saying information couldn't be provided but to not worry-this happens all the time). We finally contacted both Shyp AND FedEx and was told there was no evidence if FedEx picked up the package. We had to correspond with Shyp Customer Service through email (which was often delayed by several days) and was asked to provide transactional proof for items lost. We did so immediately and was then informed they will only refund the $100 and will file a claim w/ FedEx as they were requested to do. This was in DECEMBER 2015. Nobody has bothered to update us. I then contacted them in Feb and was told FedEx has still not provided an update. Today, I decided to contact FedEx to personally inquire (w/ the wrong information provided to me by Shyp) and was told the claim was DENIED on JANUARY 25 (weeks before Shyp provided me w/ their final "update") as they were not able to verify that they picked up the package. This then leaves it in Shyp's hands to figure out how I can recoup the filed claim of over $500. It's awful enough when the company you trust loses a box of your irreplaceable belongings...but its insult to injury when they fail to do nothing about it. The very LEAST they can do is update us with timely and accurate information. Actually, the very least they could have done was to just refund the shipping charge immediately upon recognizing they messed up...but even that took some time. My advice to those wanting to try this out is maybe use it for things that have no sentimental value or are worth less than $100. So, so disappointed in this awful experience. I have used Shyp twice now - the first time I was impressed, the second time I was hooked! I travel for biz and am always bringing back little treats and toys for family and friends and running to the post office was a pain. I just used the flat rate boxes as I figured that was cheapest and easiest. Shyp is awesome because they came to my office (2nd and Mission) within 15 minutes of receiving my request! And even with the pick-up fee (which is only $5 total even if you have multiple items), the entire cost came out less than me doing it myself. Love this service! read more

Have used this company several times but I'm done with them....Too expensive!!! They charge you $5 to wrap the items, $5 for pickup and then your pkg takes 2 weeks to arrive to the recipient. Might as well go to the post office, wrap your own stuff and get a flat rate box that you know your item will arrive in 2 days. I really don't see anything special about Shyp. read more

mailing has never been easier! I use it regularly for online returns and ship books to my china for my uncle. They usually come over in less than 20 mins and will pack everything nicely (not online returns) and things are delivered on time. I love it!!! read more

I used them to ship a birthday present and everything worked perfectly. You don't need to package your item; they will wrap and box it for free for small items. The only charge is $5 for picking the item up at your location and then the actual cost for shipping via the carrier and speed you choose. read more

I was so excited to finally have an alternative to standing in line at the ups line. I recently shipped three items, one was a framed piece. I should have know when the courier showed up with an envelope to pack my things in that this was not going to be good. Apparently he didn't look at the photo clearly enough. When it finally reached its destination, on time, it was totally destroyed. I am now waiting to see how they are going to handle this one. My feeling is that the couriers that they hire are people that need a couple of bucks and don't really care about what happens. They just want to get paid and have no stock or feeling about the company. However, I do think it's a great concept, but I would never use it to ship anything of value. read more
