May be the best Chinese restaurant in the area. They have all your Chinese luncheables: bbq meats and standard lunch specials cooked to order. They always have good turnover on BBQ meats. They're generally lean and seasoned just alright. I'd prefer extra spicy but that's just me. I'd bring the fam here for a traditional Cantonese dinner. They always have good care of their food and they're clean. Cheers read more

The crispy pork belly here is amazing! It's roasted so perfectly and so fresh. It's lean with just a layer of fat which makes the whole thing tender, and the crispiness of the edge is just amazing. I was working in the area and decided to try this spot out after reading some great reviews, and came back several times that month. read more

This place has been a Elmhurst stable for many many years. It also made through the pandemic so you know it's good. Old school canton food with on point roast meats. Roast pork always has fresh crispy skin, roast duck is shinny and full of flavors. Prices are reasonable. Breakfast wise, they are made to order, so always fresh. Congees have lots of ingredients in them, not your avg thin, watery congee. We ordered their thousand year egg and meat congee, it's made with cured meat so it's extra flavorful. Yum! read more

Love this place! They have delicious classic Cantonese cuisine. They offer takeout and sit down dining. The place is small and old so coming in big groups may be a bit of a wait. Service isn't all that great but hey, the excellent food & affordable price makes up for it. They have amazing Chinese style BBQ meats. Roast pork, roast duck, & crispy pork are really food esp. with rice. The wonton noodle soup is great. The beef chow fun with gravy is one of the best I've had recently! Def. will try more dishes next time. read more

Whenever I'm craving Cantonese food, I stop by here to get my 3 meats with rice. I always order the soy sauce chicken, roast pork, and roast pig and of course with extra scallion sauce. Their portion size is great and I'm glad this place is open for dine in option as well but we usually take it to go. This place is cash only though! read more

Update: Long time customer. Their roasted duck is all bones now. First they hiked the prices and people stopped buying, so they probably reduced the prices by buying low quality ducks. The duck they use now is all bones. Their roasted duck taste has always been average or below, non complex bitter+salty cheap soy sauce taste. Now you are basically buying bones dipped with cheap soy sauce taste. Their service improved a bit (from terrible to neutral service) but who cares if I am paying for bones. Found another place for roast duck so I am going to patronize them instead. read more

I love coming here to buy take-out whenever I'm in Elmhurst. The food is cheap and delicious. I'm a fan of their fried fish with tofu over rice dish. I have ordered their congee before and it's pretty good too. I also come here to buy the roast pork or roast duck to-go. I have dined here a few times recently and the place wasn't crowded when I came here for dinner tho. But, I usually see a bunch of people buying food to-go instead. Overall, good place to dine-in or ordering take-out Cantonese food. read more

Great place for take out for rice plates and Roast Pork, Duck, etc... They make good food no doubt about it whether for lunch, dinner. Only eaten at this restaurant numerous times, but I love to get take out. Why you ask? It's inexpensive and delicious. Portions are enough to share for two for the rice plates. As for the duck (Nicely prepared wonder if they Long Island Quakers), chicken and roast pork. It's fiesta time with the family on the weekends. There is a family member here on a weekly basis getting the take out stuff. Enjoy! read more

Came here for some good congee on a cold day. Congee was good. Pretty consistent with all of the franchise-like restaurant establishments in New York City named something ending in "Wong", "Wang". These serve your usual congee, noodles and rice dishes of all kinds. Buy each of these types of restaurants also serve rice rolls (or Cheung Fun) with some sort of filling inside, usually pork, beef, shrimp or dried shrimp. Congee was good... But the shrimp rice rolls was a disaster. It came out looking like a blob of brains. Quite literally ugly and unappetizing. The rice roll was very thick and there was no art or pride in the way it was rolled. It was just a blob of stuff. I would imagine they have the good congee, rice and noodle dishes, but certainly stay away from the rice rolls. read more

The food is not good compared to other dim sum places in this area. More importantly, the service is TERRIBLE! They would ask you to pay for their soy sauce even if your dim sum should come with it!!! Plus, this place is CASH ONLY. read more

Had a really satisfying lunch here! Great, cheap and fast Chinese/Cantonese food! Your traditional congee options at $4, and we enjoyed the pork congee with a thousand year old egg. Congee came out hot and the pork/egg was plentiful! The restaurant has the typical roasted duck and chicken hanging in the window, so we knew we had to try those meat! Our table ordered dish with choice of 3 meats and rice - soy sauce chicken, Chinese BBQ pork, and roasted duck - all three items were so delicious and tender! Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Price was really reasonable and great portions. Not a big restaurant and mostly Chinese customers only. Service is typical for a Chinese restaurant where its no frills and they speak little to no English. However, the food is fantastic and they have very good prices. Cash only. read more

I ordered take-out and they were so busy...business is good. Unfortunately, the food is suffering. I requested that my noodles be packed separate from the soup as I have many times before, but they were so busy they overlooked it. I had planned on eating the noodles the next day and the congee the same day. As we all know, congee turns to liquid the next day. So I had to eat the noodles as soon as I got home (which was 2 hours later) and forced to eat the congee the next day. By the time I got home, the noodles had already soaked up most of the soup and sadly the tendons were not cooked through. I also ordered a steamed rice roll wishrimp and the shrimp were not deveined and I can hear the crunch of the sand vein while I attempted to eat it. They also forgot the soy sauce that comes with it so it basically became inedible. I tried dousing it in regular soy sauce but it didn't work so I ultimately had to throw it away. Not going back for anything but meats hanging in the window and congee. read more

Rumor has it that this place is the same people who do Big Wong in the city, nice! Well I really haven't had that much here but their congee is really good. It's a good Canto place in the area, the place has zero decor and atmosphere but the wait staff is quick and efficient. The food: Steamed rice roll with shrimp- this is my Dim Sum stand by, I get this every time I go Dim Summing. The rice roll here is pretty good. The roll is a little thicker than I am used to but good non the less. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5yP_DL-4WZXhc2-0c3PBPA&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Congee with Pork w. Thousand Year Egg- I will be the first to admit, I didn't always like thousand year egg but it grew on me. The congee here is really good, the egg is a bit funky but it goes well with the congee and pork. Congee with sliced pork- I think the congee here is very good, it's perfect on a cold day. The congee is very subtle and kinda plain in flavor really, but it's a very comforting dish. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=hUQL7pOPTw6gNpZ_PmwQtQ&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Salted Fried bread- this is kinda the thing you get as a side to the congee. Had an order of Three Precious Ingredients with Roast Pork and Soy Sauce Chicken, then an order of Roast Pig. Wish they gave a sauce for the pig and that the egg was warm, it came with the three precious ingredients dish. Other than those little things, the food came with generous portions of meat, especially when you ordered one kind of meat, the meat was also tender. The Roast Pig had that crispy skin, even after taking it home to eat. The Roast Pork had a great char on the meat giving you an extra burst of flavor in those burnt bits. Of course, their scallion ginger sauce packed such a delicious punch of flavor, which i could have eaten with everything. A great place to come to when you are craving these foods, and don't want to trek all the way to Chinatown, it's no frills, the orders came so fast and the food is great! read more

Cravings for the Preserved Thousand Year Egg with Pork Congee comes once in a while! I was so surprised to find this Cantonese restaurant in Elmhurst. I got my congee and my fried dough to go! When I got back to my place, I set up my small bowls and soup spoons. I poured the congee to each bowl to share with a little to spare. The congee was still burning hot, just how I like it! Congee was indeed very flavorful. Preserved Thousand-Year Egg & Pork are perfect cut into mouth-sized pieces - perfect! Proportions between the egg, pork, scallions, and congee are consistent, a plus for generosity! I did think the congee was a bit too watery at the end, however, still had me linking my bowl for every last drop of it! Fried Dough was very soft on the inside compared to other places I have tasted and super crispy that I can hear it when I bite it! Perfect combination with the burning, hot congee! Lastly, you know what? When I made my way to the kitchen for the little amount left in the container, it was gone! The culprit? My boyfriend! We're getting two next time! read more

Service was very bad. I understand that this is just a regular chinese restaurant and did not expect much but the employees were really really bad. I asked 1lb ($14) of roast pig and they gave me more than I asked ($22) so I said I want less than that and they said they won't sell the part I want and gave me the part (bad/hard part of the meat). The way they talked to me was so rude also. NEVER GOING BACK. Also, before that take out, I ordered the pork with watercress soup. No taste and smell spoiled and soy sauce chicken also had no taste. Very disappointed myself decided to eat at that restaurant. read more

I just bought a roast pig here yesterday. It's very taste and juicy. So I bought again today. I can understand that there is usually no refund at the old restaurant and i don't even expect refund I'm just really mad of the customers service. could you please be honest with your customers? When I bought it they told me it was just ready. but the crust is charred. The meat is really, really super dry！！！and very fishy！！I called to ask is the roast pig is from yesterday？it totally different from what I had yesterday. they insisted that the roast pig I bought was too thin. I'd like to ask you. Have you ever seen the roast pig box is not a drop of oil on the bottom? read more

So, thought it would be easier to find a cooked meats place in Queens, other than Flushing. Trying to adjust with life in Queens, I didn't mind traveling to find a place, just as long as it was easily accessible, meaning along the E/F/M/R train lines. I saw there was a New York Mart on Roosevelt but there was no cooked meats section, like the two other stores that I know. But thank god they didn't. I asked a guy working in there, and he mentioned that there was one on 80 something street. I thought it was too far but then I checked Yelp and saw it wasn't that far. When I arrived at the storefront, I was glad to see the cooked meats hanging by the window. This is going to be my spot to go to for my meats. I must check out their other food offerings as well. read more

Stopped by this place while I was in the area to get some OG Elmhurst food that you simply can't get in Jersey. I opted for the seafood pan fried noodles, soy sauce chicken, and roast duck. These are some of my parent's favorites growing up in Elmhurst. The servings are huge and the flavor is unmatched, especially the green ginger sauce. As for COVID-19 ordering, the place gets a little cramped, even for a regular shmegular Monday afternoon. There were about 4 people inside waiting in line to place an order, and then people began waiting outside until the next person left. I placed the order and came back in about 10 minutes but I feel as it was done way before then. In the interest of social distancing, I gave it a wait in the car before coming back. The ladies behind the counter are friendly while also getting things done. Yummy foods! read more

Shun Wang's quality has dropped off by a lot since they opened a second place on Main St Flushing. Their dishes are smaller and they are skimming on ingredients; they just add my rice to fill in the gaps. I recently ordered BBQ meat and asked for lean cut but both the roasted pork and roasted pig were full of fat. Both were also too salty. There are other places down the block that has better BBQ meat. read more

Fantastic meal for the price, portion, and quality. I was craving Wonton and char siu (roast pork), and this place was able to satisfy both one one dish: char siu and wonton noodle soup. VERY generous portions with the char siu, and you get 5 big wontons (shrimp and pork). Char siu flavor was on point. This place also looks good for congee and select breakfast dim sum. Service: Quick and attentive. Really can't ask for more at these authentic Chinese places. Atmosphere: Standard. A few small tables and a few bigger round tables with lazy Susans. Side note: they serve noodle soups all day; don't have to wait for lunchtime. Other types of noodles like stir fry might have to wait for lunchtime. Bottom line: check it out! You won't be disappointed. read more

I was invited to a early Father Day dinner by my son and his girlfriend. I walked past the restaurant because it was so divey looking. The food was excellent. Very good Cantonese food. the divey looking places always has the best food. We had veggies and roast pork soup. Nobody ate the pork in the soup and of course I did. Delish. We had roast chicken, lobster with ginger and scallions, pork chop with pepper and salt, fried tofu with eggplant, flounder and soft shell crabs, shrimp with walnuts and Chinese broccoli. All delicious except the shrimp and walnuts dish. The sauce tasted too much mayonnaise. The chicken was juicy and tender. The lobster juicy not over cooked. I burned the top of my mouth with the pork chop. So hot. I am not a eggplant person but the dish was delicious. Our group was the only customer but the Service excellent. They lost a star on the decor. They also have retail section that sell the bbq meats such as the soy chicken, roast duck, roast pork and pig. read more

This place feels like you're back in Hk. Sure, the staff aren't super friendly and outgoing like American restaurants, but what do you expect? This is like a transplant right out of Asia. They don't do delivery or even have an online website. Cash only! But the food is oh so heavenly. Half a duck for $11, $9.5/pound for roast pork/bbq pork. 3.5 typical Canto style hole in the wall that you'd normally expect in Chinatown. Not the cleanest, just don't scrutinize anything! Do what I do and pretend you don't see it lol I come for the comfort food, not the ambience. If you like sleeping in on a weekend but don't want to miss out on "you tiao" (salty fried bread), then this is the place to go, as it is usually only served early morning at other restaurants. Their pork with thousand year egg congee (preserved duck egg) and sliced fish congee are my usual go tos. If you're coming for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, be prepared to share a table as their seating is limited and it's the Chinese way lol They do accept credit card but with a minimum of $30. 1/4 duck $7, half for $13. The roast port is about the best you will get when in Queens. Nothing beats the roast port in Big Wong's located on Mott Street but if you need your fix of roast pork Shun Wang is the place to go. The Soy sauce chicken is decent but a tad on the dry side. If you order soy sauce chicken be sure and request it NOT be chopped otherwise they will short change you by keeping the drum off the chicken wing and other noticeable parts of the chicken. There are other competing restaurants around this area however all the takeout items at Shun Wang are always fresh due to the fact they sell quite a bit of every barbecue items. This hole in the wall is known for it's authentic traditional Cantonese BBQ meats and while that's been our family's goto, I gotta recommend their Cantonese style casseroles. Our favorites are the "eight treasure" tofu casserole (basically eight proteins including squid and sliced fish balls), the lamb and tofu skin casserole, and the preserved vegetables and pork belly casserole (they were out the last 2 times, but WOW - thin sliced and melt in it your mouth porky goodness). No pictures because we devoured it all. read more

For anyone familiar with Big Wong in Chinatown, Shun Wang is the Big Wong of Elmhurst. It is great for congee, barbecue meats, noodle dishes, and rice dishes. I love congee and Shun Wang is now at the top of my list for it. I always order the pork with thousand year egg congee. In addition, it features a limited selection of dim sum. The beef rice roll and fried dough rice roll complement the congee very well. In regards to the beef rice roll, it is a Chinese dim sum dish I always crave. Shun Wang has an awesome one. I like that the beef and the rice noodles are very smooth. In my opinion, it also has the best Chinese barbecue meats. The soy sauce chicken, roast pig [crispy, fried skin], and roast pork are so good. They come with a very good scallion, ginger sauce. Although I do not get the noodle entrée dishes as often, they are good. The sliced duck & pickled cabbage mei fun tastes great. I do wish a little more duck is put in it but you can still really taste the duck flavor in the noodles. Another dish I love is chicken pan fried noodle. There is a solid one here. The beef chow fun is also decent. However, it does not come out sizzling hot from the kitchen as I would expect.
