I ventured to Shuagabees again this weekend. It had been sometime since my last visit:-( I am about 10 weeks pregnant and nothing seems to stay down but I tell you what I tore up that pulled pork! Thank you Shuagabees for keeping a pregnant woman fed! Next time I will have to eat Brisket only. It is so hard to stick with one thing there everything is so good! The most amazing BBQ trailer is also the closest food establishment to my house? What did I do to have such great luck?! I love Shugabee's and highly recommend their brisket, chicken salad (sounds odd, but try it - it's amazing) and sausage. Shugabees BBQ is second to none! The brisquet is melt in your mouth delicious, the pork is just as mouth watering awesome! Try them both: ask for the double trouble with one his homemade sauces. This truck is so choice... if you have the means, I highly recommend it. The brisket was juicy and tender, and the pork was even juicer and tenderER. I'm just finishing the leftovers and still amazing. Came with the world's largest home made tortilla. Here is the real secret though: GET THE HABANERO SAUCE. Get several to pilfer away for home use. I just ordered the Texas BBQ sauce. The owner noticed that I was a newb and kindly sent us on our way with all the sauces. If the owner is reading this - bottle that sauce!!! I'd put Shugabees brisket against the best in Austin, including the place with the half day long line. Meaty, tender, artfully trimmed, with just enough spice to keep the bark interesting but not overpowering. Top it off with some of their habanero sting sauce and you've got a savory brisket that will keep you coming back for more. read more

You ABSOLUTELY MUST try shugabees at some point in your lifetime. I am not a huge meat eater but after reading the reviews I got the brisket taco and my boyfriend got the sausage....... HOLY MOLY. What can I say I am an addict. I am so glad they make the smaller 1/4 lb portion. I wish they would make them even smaller so I could have a better mix. I love it all but I can not eat it by myself so have to have other junkies to help out. The pork can be a little dry at times but when it is right with the sauce it is a little bit of heaven. I call ahead to make sure they haven't run out of whatever I am craving and if I am lucky sometimes I can even get the chopped beef - extra YUM. Best pork wrap EVER, addictive, keeps you coming back...can not say enough. Saving the five star rating when the telephone order takes precedence. I have shingles(no heat tolerance), pull into parking lot which faces west, call in order, two other cars pull in place order, they get theirs first. Walk up to get mine and because I "called it in" I was last...... Second time, park, call in-no answer...get call back thirty minutes later.... Fortunately, it is cool outside, now I can stand in their parking lot with rocks so big you can barely keep your footing (wear flats) for up to fifteen minutes ("their is only one person in the trailer", Shugabees favorite line) and eat their DELICOUS, MOUTHWATERING pork. read more

Ok...I was born in the BBq Capitol of the WORLD!! That's right Lockhart, Texas...have been a KREUZ faithful for years!! However, I have been cheating on KREUZ lately and I must say....this is one of those I cheat on KREUZ with and it is sooo good too!!! I have been to Shugabees a few times since I have some friends out that way and each time it has been great! The brisket is moist and flavorful...the sausage is good...I love how they put it in this huge tortilla..as the tortilla is homemade and very tasty!!! The Shugabee pudding is outstanding and a great way to end the meal. My only complaints are the following: 1. Last two times I have been, they have been out of onions? Come on..you got to have plenty of onions and pickels in stock to eat with your BBq. 2. No BIG RED in a bottle or at all!! : ( This is Tx and you need some Big Red with your tasty brisket. If you don't feel like driving to Driftwood, Lockhart or Elgin and you need a quick BBQ fix...then this is the place for you!!! read more

I'll eat here any day. Got off the plane from North Carolina and headed for Shugabees. I read the great reviews and was not disappointed. The brisket is tender and moist, the tortillas are just the way they should be: homemade and great tasting. Loved the jalapeno potato salad, and great banana pudding. We had Shugabees cater our family reunion. Our huge family of 76 considers themselves to be experts on brisket. Everyone loved it! Shugabees? More like Shuga crack.. Everything about this BBQ is amazing. The Banana Bread pudding is out of this world and the chicken salad wrap and tortilla is mouth watering. I put a bit of the sauce on mine and it is stellar. The staff is professional and very hospitable. I had my birthday party catered by them and they gave me more than enough to feed 50 people. Not too bad for a little hole in the wall so to speak. BBQ is pretty good for a non brick and mortar establishment. Would go back, however the location is a little hard to get to with it being in Bucks parking lot and all the construction. On bad weather days it can be a mud pit. read more

There are so many places that serve bbq within a 20 mile radius of Austin, that after awhile it's nearly impossible to tell them apart. Rudy's sause is delicilously heavy on the black pepper, Salt Lick sauce loves it's boiling sweet molasses mustard mix, and Franklin is well, Franklin. Either way the menu of these places is so standard you really don't have to look at it. Brisket, ribs, sausage, blah blah... So when you come upon a bbq joint that's got a menu that makes you go "huh?" your bbq trained brain starts to backpeddal a bit. To not carry the standard meats the way we are accustomed to eating them is flirting with the tweaking of the holy grail that is central Texas bbq. Well if Shugabees is a new culinary revelation, consider me a convert. I had a problem with the concept of a bbq wrap until I tasted it. The tortilla was world class, the beef is full of skillfully seasoned flavor, and these wraps are huge. The jalapeno potato salad is more than a side here, the sauces are unique, and the dessert..... This review would have been four stars due to the fact that ribs are my thing and at Shugabees there are none (at the time of this writing). But that extra fifth star was solidified in the tasting of the chocolate and banana pudding. I have never, I mean NEVER, tasted pudding this good. I don't know what they put in the puddings to make them stand out, but you could put the top ten bbq joints chocolate or banana puddings side by side and I couldn't tell you the difference. All good, love em all. But put Shugabees pudding in the lineup and I could tell the difference with a blindfold and a head cold. It's well worth the drive for that little foam bowl of pudding. I'd almost drop a star for the inconvenience of sitting outdoors, but left it in place for the convenience of the parking. Add to that the friendly service, and any unavoidable downside to this foodtrailer eatery quickly disappears. Shugabees is excellent. read more

I was heading to San Antonio and I was craving some BBQ! Looked on yelp saw the great reviews and tried it for myself . It was AMAZING!! We tried the brisket which was perfectly seasoned, super juicy and tender!' And the sausage which tasted wonderful . I'm a sausage lover and it was great !! Really good home-made tortillas, and the brisket and pork butt are some of the best I've ever had. Really great smoked chicken salad and banana pudding, too. I recommend a "double trouble" combo of brisket and pork with two sauces. read more

I've only tried it twice. I found the brisket tough and greasy and the sauce unimpressive. There are so many great alternatives.

A local newspaper write-up on BBQ joints mentioned Shugabees, and we happened to drive by, and decided to check it out. BIG MISTAKE... I won't be able to get the truck to pass that intersection any more without it making a charge for the parking lot!!! The wife & I had the Smoked Pork with the Chipolte, WOW, WOW... It was some of the best pork I've EVER tasted, and I'VE COOKED COMPETITION COOK-OFF !!! The flavor was excellent, and the meat was SUPER MOIST. The Chipotle Sauce was the perfect accent, along with the smokey bark that GOOD pork has. Can't wait to try the brisket next time... That may be tomorrow's lunch, if I can wait that long!!! read more

I think this is my far my favorite bbq! Everything ordered is wrapped in the most delicious tortillas ever. They have really awesome sauces and their brisket is to die for. We have tried everything but the sausage and the shredded beef. The chicken salad comes with or without olives now and I went with the original and it was a taste of smoked heaven. If you're here you need to try the beenana shugapuddin or the beechocolate shugapuddin because it's so awesome. So so good. Note, they are true bbq and close when they run out! read more
